You got all the petro-dollars in the world, your cities look whack, you can't even afford a decent camera. The building look really old - like built last in 70s and 80s. This is Nairobi - Old CBD. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1887/43704793495_ea47492d7d_k_d.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1841/43894847914_bdd7611de9_k_d.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1891/29675808027_a7fc87e2d3_o_d.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1854/43894847494_be7114bc11_k_d.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1886/42362974330_d2d2141bcb_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1885/42362974850_8a46204c4c_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1814/30304384978_59f6967095_b.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DljA2_SWsAEZ57u.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dls3KXqXgAE9XC1.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1817/30304385908_2605904297_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1834/30304385348_caa72459d4_b.jpg |
It's a picture break to drive the point home once in a while. Your grainy pictures tells it all. You can't afford a half decent camera or the cities are that polluted. 68816419: |

Nairobi is competing with Joburg and Cairo - not slum cities of Nigeria - Kindly look for a slum in those pictures - or rusted iron sheet roofed house https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1896/30893122988_f494b9f3f5_o.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1830/28404133227_409763cceb_o.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1822/42554938424_1c4a46465e_o.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/833/42554945024_74b1c58aed_o.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1860/43654889975_d2e8153a23_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1869/43714702415_449926c8aa_b.jpg |

The download pdf on their site doesn't work. The EU obviously want to be at heart of Kenya and compete with US and China for influence in shaping Africa. The EU recently took over the completed Dunhill towers...so they are here for long haul https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4218/35383407692_73d319b01f_c.jpg kikuyu1: |
Those must be Benin, Niger and Ghana visiting your zoo. The real tourist stats in Africa that we know are like this. Morocco South Africa Tunisia Algeria Zimbabwe Namibia Kenya 68816419: |
I am actually not in Kenya as I type this. I have no desire to visit or live in Nigeria. And you can just check your tourism industry to confirm if I am alone. 68816419: |
That is what we've been doing here from page 1 - and all we see are RUSTED SLUM CITIES with din of GENERATORS - really dusty murram roads outside one or two highways - pipe water is a dream - then add insecurity & kidnapping - I mean there is nothing in your zoo that would interest anyone to visit. That is why your tourism industry is next to ZERO. Why on earth would I ever waste my money to come that god-for-saken ZOO! 68816419: |
I think it's average - coz the profile of the 1.2M visiting - really differs - maybe about 300K are safari heavy spending - another 300K are business conference type - another 300k stay for a day or two - others are africans visiting and stay cheaply - backpackers - the whole gamut - and but I think on average they'll spend 1,000 dollars on accomodation, food, park fee & such - air ticket is not part of the deal. kikuyu1: |
If what I have seen in the last 2K plus pages is anything to go by - then I'll have to pass the opportunity to visit your zoo. If what I have seen in several rankings by many reputable institution about your infrastructure, service industry and general quality of life - then I am afraid I am not interested in visiting your zoo. South Africa is definitely a country we look upto. Not your zoo. 68816419: |
I think Big 4 is on great - but apart from housing & universal health - I think manufacturing will take some time - in the meantime our exports are not growing but stuck at 5-6B dollars - and we need to think about exporting our services. Providing quality education to Nigerians who've been failed by their gov could earn us their petro-dollars. Therefore we need to make it easy for Africa students to come to Kenya and study. That would mean more investment in really high quality private universities from private sector - and possibly attracting satellite campus like USIU, Jonraid: |
All good except it's all delusion. The reality of a nigerian worker or army guy is that he wakes up to no electricity, dry taps, dusty roads, and delayed salary - and of course poverty. Slaveryisgood: |
There is no top Africa 10 Nigerian university. That is something. Why don't you invest your petrodollars on at least 10 big universities of highest quality. forgiveness: |
- Paid regularly better than Nigeria. You actually think just because you don't have electricity the rest of Africa do the same - leave alone kenya. THE SAME WITH SALARIES.ALL KENYAN EMPLOYEES ARE PAID REGULARLY - Okay that is understatement. They are paid as early as 15th of every month - 2 weeks before the due date - by Banks - who are so sure gov will pay their salaries There is no history of any KENYAN gov public employee or pensioner having missed their salary ever. People don't even know what being paid regularly mean.. Leave alone our ARMY . No wonder your army regularly overthrow the civilian gov.I know this hard for you to believe because a Nigerian public employee getting their salary on time is a MIRACLE. Majority are owed salary areas some running years. Slaveryisgood: |
Don't cherry-pick university ranking to shows more of your universities in some arbitrary top 50. Why not try top 10? or top 20 or top 200? forgiveness: |
Poor education. Budget. GDP. Go back to school - and this time try Mogadishu University. Slaveryisgood: |
We spend 30% of our budget - which is equal to Nigeria budget - on Education. That is why without a drop of oil and an ounce of gold and carat of diamond - we are one of Africa largest & most progressive economy. You spend I think 10% of your budget to education - 4-5 times the number of kids. You spend less money on education than kenya on dollars time - and you've more students, teachers & schools. It's one reason why your education system have gone to the dogs - and soon you'll find yourself going to Mogadishu University to get quality education. Slaveryisgood: |
You must be one of criminal nigerians we recently deported from Kenya hence the all-consuming self-hate. You should channel that anger into producing some music and videos to keep us entertained.Matters development...pictures don't lie! Slaveryisgood: |
This can be great forex earner if gov was to invest in - together with making our hospitals the best in the region. We need to market our very good education system - and get % of the money that end up in South Africa, Australia and US - in most of the anglophone Africa. Jonraid: |
We listen to good music. Jamaican, South Africa, Tanzania, DRC and the last decade Nigerian. We watch good movies. We use great banks. But to be jealous of Nigeria is hilarous? Jealous of what? If South Africa was talking - yeah I'd admit some envy of South Africa and such progressive nation. NIGERIA - fix your electricity first !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slaveryisgood: |
Fake figures are fake. It easy to validate and cross-reference data. For instance it's not only TZ which receives tourists - most countries around the region receive the same profile of tourist - safari/game drive long distance tourists mostly from Europe & USA visit kenya, TZ, Botswana and South Africa - to mostly see game (wild animals), have few days in the beach to sun-bathe & a little or more of that. If Kenya, Botswana & South Africa think the average Tourist spend 1,000 dollars - and the lazy Tananzia inflate their figures to 2,000 dollars...it doesn't change the reality that Tanzania is poor least developed country in SADC, EAC and Africa. Nowenuse: |
You sound really angry. Is your generator giving you trouble again? Nigeria leading Africa in anything positive outside population is of course not true. Your public and private universities are CRAP. The last time Nigeria had a decent education system was somewhere in 60s/70s/80s....but now it gone literally to the dogs..and you're one such manifestation. See the gibberish you've just typed and we are talking universities. Slaveryisgood: |
Kenya send lots of students to USA,UK, Australia and South Africa. In fact at some point we had more students in the US than Nigeria.Nigeria ONLY overtook Kenya in 2008 as Africa leading sourceof foreign students to the US after we fixed our universities which explains why many foreign students are rushing to Kenya.Nigeria universities remain a huge mess and you have to export a lot of dollars for sometime until you fix your horrible underfunded education. After discovering we were exporting money to developed world for something as basic as University we massively invested in universities..from 7 public and 4 private universities in 2000s..the number rose quickly to nearly 100..from enrollment of less than 50k..it rose to more than half a million. Now that chapter is closed. We are focusing on vocational training as we prepare to industralize.. opening about 1000 new vocational training centers and want to ramp enrollment in vocational colleges to a million.Nigeria with miniscule public budget cannot afford to spend the minimum of 25 Perc on education and therefore you'll continue wasting petrodollars like you done before.Youve earned more than 600b dollars of oil money the last 50yrs and all you have to show for it is rusted slum cities.Part of the money is wasted by sending students all over the world for something basic as university degree. 68816419: |
