tactius: First time I saw this woman's music video was sometime in the very early 1990's. Impression i had was of one wild looking woman...who probably smoked heavily, and drank and was very weird. (Funny thoughts of an 11 year old).
I remember when several years later it was announced she had lung cancer...and then she passed on in South Africa. It was mentioned in the obits that she was a non-smoker...
Never judge a book by its cover.
Good to see some of our old stars back in the limelight. I doubt anyone below the age of 35 remembers her now..... I'm in my twenties and I remember her quite well from my childhood days. I used to watch her music videos back in the day. She looked so white and beautiful. Years later I watched how she battled Lung Cancer on Charley Boy Show, how people rallied to raise funds for her, and I watched her lying in state when she eventually passed. Asiko lolaye still rings in my head once in a while. So yes, there are actually some of us young ones with old souls. |

What national politics did yorubas play in 1999 that PDP gave them presidential ticket knowning they are anti PDP
What is right is right WRONG! Yorubas were not Anti PDP in 1999 as all political parties were relatively new. They were Anti Obasanjo who represented the military they obviously didn't like at the time. There is a major difference. If PDP had presented someone very qualified and not affiliated with the military, they would have supported him. |

Politics › Re: Okorocha: Igbos Will Get Nothing In Buhari’s Second Term For Not Voting For PMB by Ryabcool(m): 5:36pm On Apr 10, 2019 |
ocelot2006: It's funny you talk about "diplomacy and dialogue"? Has your leader ever shown any form of diplomacy? Has he ever reached out to the South East, regardless of their political affiliation, in order to unify the nation and buy the Igbos over? Have you forgotten the "97%-5%" speech in the United States during buhari's first tenure? And what have the Igbos, or the south as a whole, gained under Buahri's watch apart from marginalization of the Igbos, and nepostim plus tribalism? like i earlier mentioned, heaven will not fall if the Igbos gain nothing from Buhari. First, Buhari lost my support a long time ago. Saying this now, so that anything I tell you will be seen as nonpartisan and what I truly feel. When i said you don't have to like someone but you need to respect him, can you honestly say the igbo people treated yoruba with respect in the time of GEJ? There is even a thread where you guys mocked yoruba people when some elders went to complain to him about so little executive appointments in his administration. Did you attempt to bring yoruba people closer when your adopted son was in power? Have you forgotten when GEJ called SW leaders rascals? That big insult was what brought about the drunkard tag SW gave him. Instead of peace, there were threats to dominate yoruba people in SW and take over Lagos. Someone even tried to contest for governorship. In a ethnic society we have today, that was a big insult. There was no insult that wasn't dished here. I remember the famous "Eko oni ogbanje o" slang you guys coined here on nairaland. Now I won't excuse some utterances that some leaders made. Eg oba of Lagos and his lagoon speech. But did you guys attempt to embrace us as brothers? Was there any dialogue or diplomacy? We were turned to a laughing stock and insulted You can't treat us so badly then go ahead to call us betrayers when we decided to go elsewhere. And now instead of trying to settle and diplomacy, you people are talking about using North to punish us. How do you guys want to progress when you keep fighting everyone? Really, yoruba people don't want you to like them. We really don't care about your friendship. Just mutual respect is enough. If there is mutual respect for each other, there is no mountain that the south east will climb that the south west will not support. It's not too late for the igbo race. Dialogue and diplomacy is not completely gone. Try to reason amongst yourselves, and come forward to the table. We are waiting to talk to you. |

Maybe ask her, "babe, I want to buy meat, do you have money to add?"
I am VERY SURE you won't. You will just order the thing like a boss and pay the bills.
Tell me the truth, if say you get money and she pay, shey you for the plan return match to equalize? Oga, you are fighting with your ego.
It is very hard dating guys without much money and I am not being condescending here. Call a rich guy "ewu" and he will laugh, because im know say the money dey pon the beat. Celebrities › Re: Relative Uses Dead Body Of 'kay Low' To Curse SARS. Davido, Banky W React by Ryabcool(m): 3:51am On Apr 02, 2019 |
tactius: What I am going to say is not popular....but let's be honest
All of us are cursing the Police. That means that should the Police be 'destroyed' as a result of our curses...who then would take on the criminals for us?
A lot of crime gets stopped by the Police, AND SARS is one of the police agencies that fight crime.
Many of us are rightly angry with the SARS for killing the young man...but we should remember that the young man was part of a group that was interfering with Police work.
Remember Kabiru Sokoto. Kabiru Sokoto...who was Boko's bomb maker, was freed because 'youth' interfered with the Police in the discharge of their duties...because the youth thought he was innocent.
The guy the Police came to arrest....was thought to be innocent..and many young people promptly rushed in to save him. SARS opesn fire..and an innocent youg man gets killed.
Our Police needs reform. But reform is not going to come by cursing and abusing the problem. Many of us don't appreciate our policemen and women.
And it is the same thing in many fields too. Many people in Nigeria curse doctors for doing their job , NEPA officials for disconnecting people who don't pay their bills, FRSC for enforcing traffic laws, and so on.
Yet, many of us won't pay the taxes and the bills needed to make things better. We all think that money gotten from 2.2 MILLION barrels of oil per day at $60 per barrel is enough...when it isn't and we know it.
So, why not appreciate your Policeman? Why hide criminals from the Police? Why interfere when the POlice come and arrest crooks in your neighborhood?
Anyway, Nigerians need to change. do police not need to obtain warrants before going to arrest someone except in situations where an actual crime is currently in progress? Was a crime being committed at that very instant in the viewing centre? If no, then where was the warrant of arrest? And where is it in international practices or even where is it written in police guidelines that firing shots in the air should be used to disperse a riot action? Aren't there riot gears and procedures in place for that? That action was illegal, had every element of shadiness and the people who attempted to stop the illegality from happening were justified. There is no excuse whatsoever for the police in this case and I'm frankly upset that people would try to justify this gruesome murder or try to downplay it from what it really is. |
