Olafisoyem:Thank God we get one positive message from someone who has taken the step. OP, don't even think about this. Do you want to get stuck in 183k feed mill job in a fluctuating economic environment where you can even lose the job next month.. I know most Chemical Engineering students dream of Shell, ExxonMobil, Chevron and stuffs. Your UK Masters and USA/ Canada PhD may move you closer to those fortune 500 companies. Even if you are the first child of your family, tell siblings that depend on you that you want to go fight for your future. |
periscope123:That is what I'm talking about. If you are going for Masters, make sure you return home with PhD. Masters is half-baked. After Masters, you've not reached a wonderful conclusion on your subject area Make sure, you don't do your PhD in UK. Move to US or Canada. Very easy to get PhD admission in USA or Canada if you bagged Masters from a UK school. 183k will meet your needs now but it won't very soon. Nobody will share stories of some people that return from UK and get fantastic job. Pay now, play later. Take the risk. This is not even risky. It's win-win |
234ng44uk:The guy is young and ambitious. Our country has made youth think more about now than future. I understand, it's not our fault. That is what our Government has turned us to. 183k per month will only do some basic things of life but he won't be fully financially liberated with that. I am not saying Masters will automatically liberate him but he could solve a problem during his Masters research work and this will fully liberate and launch him. I think OP needs more knowledge now be it Masters, certifications or any other stuffs. Knowledge first, money second. Let him seek knowledge when he's young. Pay now, play later...Play now, pay later |
You are right but if he knows what he's doing very well and give his best, $80k/annum is even small for PhD in his field. I am not talking of computer science graduate who can't write a line of code or a petroleum Engineer who doesn't know fluid mechanics. $80k is not that high paying job. Smart guys are easily earning 120-150k. Fresh PhD graduates are earning 170k+60k bonus at Google. Many Nigerians are there but you won't see them gallivanting or jumping from one show to another because they are too busy seeking knowledge. Those two countries I mentioned do not celebrate average. Many Nigerians remain average when they travel because they get wrong orientations. They seek money first instead of knowledge. They keep working hard instead of working smart. That's why most stay in low paying jobs forever. They think money comes by the number of hours they work which is a big lie. geosegun: |
Too easy. Don't be confused.. Go for your Masters - 2yrs. After your Masters, move to US or Canada for PhD in Petroleum Engineering or similar field of your interest - 3yrs. You will surely get scholarship/assistantship for that too. After your PhD in Canada, permanent resident permit is 100% sure. After your PhD in USA, permanent resident is not 100% sure but smart guys know how to use their PhD research papers get permanent resident.. Assuming you get $80k/annum job after your PhD which I believe with your qualifications, that shouldn't be difficult. If you are not extravagant, let's say you have $50k left after paying bills. You will have 36million Naira in savings after 2 yrs of work. 7 Yrs working in Poultry feed mill, you will make 15m Naira if you don't spend a dime from your salary. Boy, take this 7 yrs journey to change your life. If you are so patriotic and you decide to return to Nigeria after 7 yrs, you will have PhD, international exposure, Canada/USA resident permit and 36million in your bank. |
Don't try to marry her. If she's bold enough to do such under your roof, she can kill you..Keep this as secret. Don't people the real reason why you are breaking up with her.. Protect your brother and yourself from shame.. Your brother is your brother. Forgive him but create a little distance. Go find a Godly girl. |
If we don't regulate AI, machines may win someday |
I went for Interview last year but was denied. Do I need to complete a new DS160 for a new interview this year |
Trump never filed for bankruptcy. His business filed for bankruptcy 4 times.. SirJeffry: |
Expensive cars are not about stereo or beauty. Very easy to make car beautiful. Some are made for power and security. Some expensive cars will only flip during accident but wont somersault. Some have special designed airbags. Some are bullet-proof. Unfortunately, many Nigerians buying those cars do not use 10% of its features because of our bad roads. CheezyCharles: |

why was this man so happy? I hope he didn't involve in his brother's death. |
The heart of men is desperately wicked..She killed just because of $100,000 |
omobabalawo:Education is the key. Whether formal or informal. |
Don't be pressured by your dad. You are 28 years old not a kid. Before I drop my piece of advice, can you answer all these questions. what do you want in the long run? Do you think the MSc will advance your career? Are you really doing the job you wanted? What's your position in that bank? Do you have a girlfriend/fiancee that you are planning to marry? Do you have scholarship/Assistanship or you are planning to pay for the Masters in Canada? |
They've only killed three instead of using the three to bait other members. We should be ashamed of ourselves. Jungle justice is bad. The whole world will be laughing at us. |
Just 1 year plus. The man does not really love you..I hope his family are not supporting him. Please, talk to his parents and see if they can persuade him. |
I think the Pastor was very famous in Nairaland around 2008/2009 https://www.nairaland.com/264829/where-excel-ogbeide |
That's unfair. Waste of time and resources. The Pastor should have known before the wedding day |

Do you go to Church?Ask your Pastor if any member can take you in for a short period. Do you work? If you work, start saving for an apartment. |
Addicted2Women:Those prisons are not for fraudsters. They are for hardcore criminals like serial killers |
GodwinTobi:Money cannot answer death. Money cannot buy happiness. |
Everybody wants to live large. Strive for survivor first in which by hard work, you can easily achieve that. Range rover, big houses, can come later. |
Why are we so wicked in Nigeria.. Medical Director indirectly killing people |
Patience, Patience, Patience. keep working hard.It may take longer time to fulfill your dreams. You may lose that beautiful girl to a richer guy. You may not be able to afford that phone . Everybody may be making jest of you that, you are slow. Don't worry, be confident , God on our side, you will get there.. |
akpamuomenka:My brothers know how to present their people as saints... Include Kalu, Ngige, Okorocha and the likes. Very easy to be an Igbo politician in Nigeria...Road no good for Imo, Ambode cause am. Anambra people no get job, Tinubu cause am..Water no dey Enugu, na Atiku. |

I didn't know people fear Hausa/Fulani people this much. Kanu made numerous threats but nobody really get bothered. He said in one of his videos on youtube that South Sudan will be better than Nigeria when he's done. It was Buhari that made Kanu relevant.Nobody takes him serious. |
preccy69:What are you talking about? Can you do it? Someone dropped a baby in the bush where dangerous animals can hurt and she's hoping someone will pickup. That's illogical. If that's her mission, why not take the baby to a motherless home. there are many motherless homes that will gladly accept him/her. if na dropping..Why not in front of Dangote's house. Why not in front of Government house. Why not in front of a Church. She's not worthy to be called woman. |
