2smooth2shout: but information reaching me is that the offensive is delayed because the troops(including yours) are not yet ready.

so what have they been teaching in your defense training? how to facebook? undecided
Yes post that information that is reaching you. Since you know so much, we would also like to know.
Information reaching you from who?

And post the source that says we are training inside of DRC please. Thanks.

2smooth2shout: please when is SANDF going to grow some balls and engage rebels in DRC? there's serious conflict going on and they are still training.
didn't they get enough training in their defense academies?

first they trained in Brazil and now they are still training in DRC. are they going to fight world war z? just asking
Is the SANDF there as a stand alone entity or part of a U.N mission? Please stop asking st*pid questions. What's the point of going to DRC as a coalition of 3 countries if you decide to attack rebels whenever you feel like it? The commander in charge of the intervention brigade will give orders when to move into M23 positions, not the SANDF.

And where do you read they are training in DRC? I would like to read that source too please.

agaugust: well @THIZA, sorry i have to dissappoint you again, about 90% of DENEL manufactured weapons are light weapons and those cannot win you a war against powerful countries like Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Ethiopia, and Morooco.

no competent military academy in the world will tell you that a country will defeat another in war just because it manufactures more weapons than the enemy. Ethiopia can fight and defeat South Africa without importing any more weapons today, because they have better soldiers and officers with many years battle experience ans unbeaten war records.

i want to settle this your matter finally today.

see my boy, war is won by heavy weapons and not all these small small DENEL toys like grenade launcher, R4 rfle, radar, ingwe missile, etc that you psot here. you need heavy firepower platforms like jet fighters, tanks, warships, submarines, and in this modern day a spy satellite which south africa does NOT have !

these heavy weapons are 'game changers' that determine who wins a war, and also depends on the quality of soldiers that operate and use them in combat.

DENEL does NOT manufacture any of south africa's heavy firepower weapon platforms except the G6 mobile artillery and you have only 46 pieces of it. how will that save you from Libya that has 210 Palmaria mobile artillery 3 years ago ?

the heavy weapons of south africa are all imported made in europe, i have posted it before and i wont repeat it again so get it now and be finally dissapointed, i am sorry sir.

Gripen jets....made in Sweden

Hawk Jets....British product, imported in parts, then assembled

Oryx Transport Helicopter .....French Puma imported and converted

Rooivalk Helicopter Gunship....French engine imported

Super Lynx Anti-Submarine helicopter......British product imported

Oliphant Tank....British Centurion Tank imported and upgraded

Badger IFV....Finland's Patria AMV product to be imported and maybe some assembled

Valour Frigate Warship....German product imported

Type 209 Submarine .....German product imported

now remove all this Europe made imported heavy weapons from south africa and Angola will defeat you in one week grin

see why i told you that south african military is not the strongest in africa just because DENEL and other companies manufacture some toy light weapons. the same way south africa imports all its heavy weapons listed above, the same way Algeria, Morocco, Ethiopia, and Nigeria also imports from overseas...all of us are in the same heavy weapons importation pot of pepper soup together now, haba...so how you go take beat us ? you get 2 heads ? grin

https://www.tigraionline.com/dont-mess-with-ethio.jpg
.
Can you please tell us what percentage of the Badger IFV is produced in SA? How many of the systems being used on the South African badger are designed and built in SA? Patria is just a chassis. And how many of them will be imported? Only 16 out of 264.

GidiNaijaPikin: From available Literacy rates:

Nigeria: 61% of total population (about 104,210,000 literate people)
SA: 86.4% of total population (about 43,000,000 literate people)

Point is ... Nigeria has two and a half times more literate people than South Africa! And going by SA's definition of a Pass mark (33%), it is apparent that the quality of your literate population is a massive sham!

No doubt you are being your very deluded self. It's your right!! grin grin
I don't usually get into non military debates....but this has to be one of the most st*pid things you've ever said. One of the most st*pid things ever said on this forum. Do a reverse analysis.

Number of non literate Nigerians = 67 000 000
Number of non literate South Africans = 6 800 000

Nigeria therefor has almost 10 times more illiterates than SA. Do you see how useless your so called analysis was? tongue

http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=31287:seeker-400-to-fly-in-october--denel&catid=35:Aerospace&Itemid=107

https://www.uasvision.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Denel_seeker_400.2.jpg

Denel Dynamics’ Seeker 400 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) will fly in October this year, but possibly earlier, the company has confirmed.

Jan Wessels, Denel Group Chief Operations Officer, told defenceWeb that ground testing is currently underway and that the first flight is officially planned for October this year, but may occur sooner. It was originally scheduled for last year, but was delayed due to contracting and certification issues.

Denel’s annual report for the 2012/13 financial year also identifies “complexities with the key subsystems” as another reason for “significant variation in the programme schedule, including a delay of the maiden flight test.”

Nevertheless, Denel said that “significant progress” has been made in the Seeker 400 development programme over the last year and that all hardware manufacturing is completed with system integration underway.

In its annual report, Denel said the projects attached to the development of the Seeker 400 accounted for revenue of R89 million during the last financial year, with investment of R60 million in the Seeker 400.

The Seeker 400 was displayed in mock-up form at the 2010 Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition. It has an endurance of 16 hours and can be armed with two Mokopa air-to-surface missiles, with a 10 km range. It is able to carry two payloads at the same time, including electro-optical/infrared and radar as well as laser rangefinder and illuminator for target designation. Denel says an electronic surveillance payload is available for the detection and location of radar emitters. Future upgrades will include satellite communications, and sense-and-avoid capability in order to obtain civil aviation certification.

Currently, the Seeker 400 has a range of 250 km, because it uses only line-of-sight communications, but it could be upgraded to use satellite communications, which would allow it to operate at much greater ranges. With the use of the existing tactical ground station (TGS), the range may be extended to 750 km.

Denel Dynamics is executing a production contract for the UAV’s launch customer (which previously operated the Seeker I) and has also attracted strong interest from other potential clients, with most demand expected to come from the Middle East, Southeast Asia and South America. Denel is promoting the Seeker 400 to Seeker II customers, as the new UAV can be flown with Seeker II control stations.

Hopefully the SANDF will order a few of these systems now that UAV's are being used more and more. smiley

agaugust: ask liberian/sierra leonean rebels, congo DRC rebels and dafur supporter of APC local militia what they usually do to any 'civilian' woman trapped and captured in their battle zone...dont ask me o ! i am under age 18 years grin

rebels ruling a whole country are not fools. they would ask for her ID or travel passport, if not, they will search her down to her p.anties to prove her true identity. they know some south africans are white, and what the h.ell will an american citizen be doing in a french speaking country inside the rebel controlled zone and battlefield ?

seleka let her go because there was a deal to spare south african army and not w.ipe them out.

same reason the captured south african soldier was released according to your post...why would seleka let a south africa soldier go free after he helped to b.utcher 800 of the seleka's colleagues ?

why would a south african soldier be in seleka captivity if he did not surrender to them ?

rebels dont respect civilians of their own tribe, enemy is enemy, why should the respect a south africa army woman because she wore civilian clothes ? you think rebels are fools ? if they are fools then south african army will still be in CAR today. they gave you a smart brilliant shocker for history to be told to your grandchildren in soweto.

.
Yes answer your own question. Why did they let that soldier go after he helped butcher 100's of Seleka? Seleka regarded South African troops as mercenaries, meaning they had no issue killing us. They let him go because that was OUR condition of the ceasefire THEY came to us with. If there was no ceasefire each and every South African would eventually have been killed. But the Seleka commander knew he would have lost too many men in the process.

Msauza: There were any SA soldiers captured in CAR, those were just attempts by Seleka rebels to score cheap points by painting lies. Whether saengine admitted to it or not it is still lies

agaugust: sorry for the mix up of names, the story from south africa narrated both women's actions at random and mixed it up. i have corrected the names in my post. no big deal, as that does not change the fact and validity of the true story.
i also had no intention to mix anything up or manipulate anything, i clearly posted the photos of both Susette Gates and corporal Nkoana side by side to acknowledge both women were involved. now back to the facts and truth !

@msauza said the rebels would never spare the life of any south african force member in CAR but seleka did !

south african army surrendered and was granted safe passage by seleka , thats what Susette Gates proved to the world !

.
Susette Gates is a civilian. Civilians working for the SANDF do not wear uniform. If she was able to convince Seleka not to search her bag carrying R3 million (a lifetime fortune in CAR).....what other lies do you think she told them to let her go? She could have said anything......claimed to be U.S citizen etc etc. Point is, in the eyes of Seleka she was not a captured combatant. The one SA soldier who was captured by Seleka was returned to our base.

Nkoana Conspiracy : how seleka rebels spared the lives of south african soldiers

contrary to claims by south africans that their army killed 500, then 600, and finally adjusted figure to 800 seleka rebels, the truth if logically proved that the south africans actually surrendered or begged the seleka rebels to allow them to escape in peace to the airport to come under french army protection.

QUOTE :

"Parliament applauded South African Army medic Corporal Molatelo Aphinia Nkoana for her bravery in CAR, which was recounted by the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

She was confronted by the rebels who wanted to take the bags she’d retrieved. But she convinced them that she was carrying clothes left behind. She hitch hiked to the airport with French troops. "

.
Nice try at an amateur editing job. Maybe your boyfriend Patriot will believe you grin grin grin.

Corporal Molatelo Aphinia Nkoana was not confronted by rebels. Corporal Molatelo Aphinia Nkoana led a team of 16 SANDF soldiers to safety after an ambush.

Susette Gates is a civilian who works within the SANDF. She is the one who returned to the base during some of the fighting to retrieve R3 million that was being held at the base. She is the one who convinced the rebels that the money was infact clothes.

2 different stories but you edit it to make it seem like one. What's worse is that you put it in bold.

just accept it cos the more excuse you bring, the more you make you military and government sound week grin

so who is DENEL building all those shine shine weapons for? and which rubbish operations are you running back home that you need you heavy equipments for?
Nigeria has troops and heavy equipments in SL, Liberia, Sudan, MAli and were fighting boko haram in the North, pirates in the creeks of the south.

guy stop with the excuses please

try comparing your military to somali pirates or al shabaab grin
Just to understand you.....you wanted us to go back into Bangui to do what exactly? Just to prove we could do it? Kilk Seleka rebels and leave, or occupy CAR and turn it into a 10th SA province? Not even the mighty U.S gets into a fight just for pure revenge. By the time assets were ready to deploy into CAR no SA troops were in danger or underfire. This was not a war, it was a 48hour firefight. Jets, helicopters and troops were situated nearby had central african leaders of surrouding states pushed for Seleka to be forcefully removed. Instead Seleka was given 18months to form a government.

Congrats on Nigeria being deployed to all those areas. But come speak to us when you deploy as far afield as DRC, Sudan and CAR from SA all at the same time. Assets are overstretched. Add to that piracy patrols in Mozambique in which air force helicopters and jets are used, plus border operations which the airforce and army are heavily involved in. Supply lines run dry quick, as you found out in Mali.

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by saengine: 8:54pm On Jul 22, 2013
patriot4: I believe, you have access to google.
So in orther words: do it yourself.
I am tired of always having to quote sources while I read the news some months ago.
But for the last time:

South African army casualties in the Central African Republic two weeks ago may have been dramatically higher than the military has been telling us.
The bodies of two soldiers are handed over to family members during a ceremony at Air Force Base Waterkloof near Pretoria on March 28. (Delwyn Verasamy, M&G)

Allegations of a death toll considerably higher than the official figure of 13 first surfaced on Radio France Internationale (RFI), the most listened-to news service in Francophone Africa. The higher death toll claim has been flatly denied by South African authorities.

RFI's Bangui correspondent, Cyril Bensimon, says his source claims to have seen 50 body bags loaded on to a plane bound for Pretoria. Bensimon also quotes a Seleka officer claiming to have personally seen 36 dead South African Defence Force soldiers, and another 22 wounded.

A local journalist in Bangui, though not able to confirm the RFI number, believes the number of casualties is higher than 13. A number of the soldiers allegedly lost their lives far from Bangui, in the towns of Bangassou to the east and Boali in the northwest. A teacher in Bangassou claims to have seen the bodies of at least five South African soldiers.

If the casualty figures have been under-reported, a number of questions must be raised, including where the families of these alleged victims are and why, if they exist, have they remained quiet.

The question of the defence force's bravery is not challenged. What is being questioned here is why the soldiers bothered to fight with as much courage as they did for a cause that is so unclear. One local minister is now claiming that part of their motivation came from top-up payments made directly to the soldiers by deposed president François Bozizé.

Some of the answers to the South African presence in the CAR probably lie in a better understanding of South African interests in the country. What is known is that there certainly are South Africans involved in business and mining here. Allegations of who those South Africans are and who they have links to in the ANC are numerous.

What is also clear after only a brief period on the ground in the CAR is that finding answers to some of these questions is likely to be easier here than in the halls of ANC headquarters, Luthuli House.

Most of the seats on the flight to Bangui were empty. That's a bit of a surprise given that there is only one flight a week from Paris and most other options haven't been operating since the coup.
http://mg.co.za/article/2013-04-05-00-car-army-death-toll-could-be-much-higher
No sorry, wrong one. Let's try again:
Fierce fighting erupted at night over the control of the city between Seleka rebels and the government forces FACA being backed by South African troops.
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/africa/2013-03/24/c_132257389.htm
Maybe you didnt understand me....which is understandable. I said quote how many members of the CAR army were killed defending their country from a rebel coup. You said they fought side by side with us. I said they evaporated leaving us outnumbered. The CAR army was manning the main/only bridge into Bangui, which Seleka used to enter the city. How many of them were killed there? Not one. And you still think they put up any resitance? Ok then.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by saengine: 7:31pm On Jul 22, 2013
patriot4: Not true, the CAR army fought alongside your own army.
By the way they were trained by you and I am almost sure they were officered by you, so in order words they are no different from your army.
Quote a source showing how many of them were killed.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by saengine: 7:27pm On Jul 22, 2013
chris365: my friend sharap abeg. your generals first showed their incompetence when they sent 200 men to CAR without air support or heavy weapons. knowing fully well they will engage the rebels cos they were deployed to CAR when the conflict got worse, and their mandate was to protect the zuma's family business and Bozize. so the mission failed.

this calls to question SA capability to launch an offensive or wage war outside the country.
they had to wait for two days "2 freaking days" to deploy jets and helos to zambia before they retreated. "why deploy them in the first place.

and it took long after they rallied around to rent transport to bring their already rotten soldiers grin

SANDF failed in CAR and will fail in DRC cos SANDF is the dead version of SADF. period
Look at the timeline of when troops were sent to CAR. There is a parliamentary reply stating such. Fight was over by the time jets and helicopters arrived. Those assets were on the sideline if the order was given to re-take Bangui. African Union decided to give Seleka 18 months to form a new government, so we packed up and left.

SANDF would be too overstreched having heavy equipment and personel in DRC, CAR, Sudan and operations back home. The whole point of CAR was that there was a much larger CAR army to fight alongside SA troops if trouble started. That CAR army evaporated when Seleka started shooting.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by saengine: 6:52pm On Jul 22, 2013
sambos994: Why did the rebels take control of Bangui?
Because 200 soldiers will never hold any city, even Bangui for a protracted amount of time. Defending yourselves and going on an offensive are two different matters. Bangui was not an offensive operation from the start. Troops were in place for an offensive two days later (jets in Zambia, helicopters and troops in DRC).

Is there any info as to how many CAR soldiers were killed in that coup by Seleka rebels? How could a country's army suffer similar if not less casulaties than 200 foreign troops? Because they evaporates when Seleka arrived, leaving our troops heaavily outnumbered.

Everything from new main battle tanks, surface to air missiles for the army and new support vessels for the Navy. The new Badger IFV programme costing R8billion has pretty much been signed with production set to start in a few months.

agaugust: No, you just embarrassed yourself and misfired as usual grin

i got banned twice for this post for talking too much about rockets and danger they pose to c.ivilians in general, i am nowing changing almost all the content to avaoid a third ban.

you got it all wrong man, very wrong.

america and the developed countries are far more advanced than south africa

that man who built and launched the huge rocket in your post is not the kind of illiterate amateurs you have in soweto republic.

let me help your ignorance since you have never stepped beyond the shores of south africa. now see this example ;

chika chukwumerije won bronze medal in olympics 2008 but he is called an amateur because he does not earn his living income from taekwondo, he is a professional mechanical engineer.

he has learned taekwondo for 25 years under about 10 taekwondo masters and grandmaster in nigeria, germany, south korea, etc. yet he is called an amateur, but does that mean he knows nothing or just little about taekwondo ? will you defeat him in a fight ? by the time you finish fighting him your wife will need a DNA test to identify you @saengine grin

now my local soweto village boy, lets take you on a trip to america by internet since you have never travelled out of your south african village since you were born grin

in america we have people with technical knowledge equal to the professionals, but we call them amateurs because they do not use that knowledge to work for income, they use it for personal adventure and experiments.

those people dont form a workers union, they form an association like the one in your source :

Maryland State and Delaware State R.ocketry A.ssociation whose member not a novice or naive man, but a trained and skilled technician built the rocket you just talked about.

these amatuers are highly skilled world class well trained and experienced craftsmen, including electricians, millwrights, etc

the rocketry associations are registered and regulated by american government state by state, thats why this man belongs to state of Maryland state and Delaware state combined group.

america will not allow fools to launch rockets into the air without full technical competence on rocketry, or you want his rocket to kiss american airline jet boeing 747 ? grin

there is also a range limit any projectile can be launched into american airspace without government airspace management agency approval with notices sent to your city police and air force wing in your city, or else you get caught for violation of national airspace and you got o jail ! grin

fools can build fireworks to launch into the sky like christmas fire-crackers, but only exper technicians can build a rocket that will travel 120km and be controlled with guidance system or simple recovery system and tracked by radar over its fight path, and built to carry a space craft or an explosive warhead.

that amateur's rocket you are dancing about only flew about 1km, nigerian rockets tested at epe station fly 120km. there is a big difference between a national strategic funded project and a recreational enthusiasts association of technicians of rocketry.

in america we group our technical experts under two categories, those who earn living income using their craftsmanship called professionals or tradesmen, and those who just use the same craftmaship to do a hobby as enthusiasts called amateurs.

M.aryland D.elaware R.ocketry A.sssociation is such an amateur group of technically skilled rocketry crafstmen, not the kind of illiterate people walking on the streets of soweto .

i hope you have gotten money to pay your school fees now as you owe me, @saengine my coconut h.ead student shocked shocked shocked
Is this honestly your big reply? Is this the reply you've been blocked for twice? I cant believe this rubbish. More reason for me visiting this forum less and less.

You said no government would ever let people launch rockets that high. You said they would be thrown in jail in America and Europe. You said people in those countries are allowed to even own small RPG type rockets. You said those rockets can only be built by large government institutions or private companies with millions and millions in their budget.

I then posted 4/5 stories of amatuer people (not part of government institutions or big private space companies such as SpaceX) launching rockets. And instead of just admitting you were wrong you quote ONE of the stories i posted and try and argue a useless point. I truelly am tired of these rubbish posts. Of course you must be part of a rocketry club in order to launch homeade rockets, so that the FAA gives you clearance. That is obvious. Even South Africa has a rocketry club
http://www.rocketry.co.za/saasa/launch_days.htm.

Which rocket only went 1km? I posted 4 stories. With 1 homebuilt rocket flying to the edge of space and even taking video/pictures. People around the world who build rockets for fun on the weekend still build better rockets than Nigerian PhD and Masters who come to work everyday and get paid for it.

Lol....shame you think your scientists are anywhere near putting a space craft on your rockets? Shame. I'll log on again in 2050 to see it.

Nigerians dont seem to understand technical difficulties involved in building certain systems. Didnt a minister of yours say a Nigerian will be sent to space by 2015? On which immaginary rocket? Or he'll ask the Russians for a lift?

agaugust: are you lost in south african village ? that is NOT an amateur rocket launch photo, a 50 feet long rocket ? show us the story behind that photo it with proof. no country will allow that kind of rocket launch by an amateur, he will get arrested and sent to jail !

nobody in the world can do that without government approval, and no government is stupid enough to grant approval to an amateur to launch 50 feet long rocket inside the country's territory, where will it land ? on peoples head in the city from that long range it has ? what is an amateur building and firing such a huge rocket for ?

even ordinary RPG tiny rocket is illegal private possession in america and europe....did you go to school and graduate ?

we are no fools here my friend, that photo is a huge military or licensed ballistics company project well funded with millions of dollars. better luck next time...dumbo ! grin grin grin

Rocket Record: The Largest, Heaviest Amateur Rocket Ever Launched

Rocket Record: The Largest, Heaviest Amateur Rocket Ever Launched - Popular Mechanics

Steve Eves broke two world records Saturday, when his 1/10th scale model of the historic rocket—built in his garage near Akron, Ohio—lifted off from a field on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The 36-ft.-tall rocket was the largest amateur rocket ever launched and recovered successfully—and at 1648 pounds, also the heaviest. Eves' single-stage behemoth was powered by nine motors—eight 13,000 Newton-second N-Class motors and a 77,000 Newton-second P-Class motor. (Five Newton-seconds is equivalent to about a pound of thrust.) All told, the array generated enough force to chuck a Volkswagen more than a half-mile—and sent the Saturn V more than 4440 feet straight up. It was arguably the most audacious display of raw power ever generated by an amateur rocket.

Have you been sufficiently embarrassed?

AMATEUR ROCKETRY IN NEW ZEALAND

We are not talking here of the fireworks you light a fuse to on Guy Fawkes night and send into an enemy neighbour's yard. Amateur rockets have fins for guidance and a parachute for recovery at their most basic level. Their fuel is generally a composite material very similar to what is used in the solid fuel boosters of the Space Shuttle. As the rockets become larger in size and more sophisticated, then altimeters, on-board computers, GPS devices and multiple stages become part of the space adventure.

The New Zealand Rocketry Association (NZRA) is a group of people, both male and female who are interested in model rocketry, who build model rockets, and launch them into the atomosphere. Ages can range from 6 to 106 and the NZRA is open to everyone who wishes to join us in reaching for the skies. The NZRA has been in existence in various forms since 1991 and is now having a resurgence in membership.

Model rocketry opens up many avenues for learning, and the great thing is, just like astronomy, the learning never stops. There is always more to explore and if you keep at it, you can become a true rocket scientist. Much of the learning is about science. There are all manner of rocket motors and rocket sizes: fat ones - thin ones, designs built for speed and altitude and some having 2 or even 3 stages. You learn what slows a rocket down and what makes it sleek and efficient. You learn how to measure the altitude that your rocket reaches and in some instances learn how to communicate with your rocket via the GPS satellite network. You can even mount a camera on your rocket and watch the Earth recede as the rocket reaches for the sky. Above all, you learn how much fun all this learning can be!
