agaugust: tiny 43 units of G6 artillery will not save a south africa with huge land mass of about 1.3 million sq km, does your brain work mathematics. grin grin

in war, nobody will arrange one artillery head to head to test who shoots longer. show me what makes G6 artillery better than Palmaria artillery apart from its useless long range that wont work against seleka rebels close-in hand to hand combat. G6 artillery south africa had in angolan bush war and yet could not win the war against a tine nation cuba that has zero war history grin grin

palmaria artillery has three sighting systems installed: a P170 direct firing periscope, a P186 panoramic sight for indirect sighting and a dial sight.

The P170 can be used for both observation and sighting and in the latter mode has a magnification of ×8. The optical unit of the sighting system can be replaced by a light intensification system that transforms the day periscope into a low-light device.

The P186 panoramic sight is used for indirect firing and is provided with an illuminated reticle for day or low-light level use. The reticle is fixed and pre-aligned with the optical axis.

The Palmaria also be has an electronic plane converter for rapid and accurate aiming both in direct and indirect fire.

The primary fire-control system of the Palmaria is the P186 telescope that is mounted on a telescope mount. This is used for laying the weapon in azimuth and for indirect fire control. The sight has a magnification of ×4 with a 10° field of view and weighs 8 kg. Internal communications are via the normal intercommunication system and an extra external telephone point. The turret has adequate space for normal radio installations.

Its firing can be re-directed for accuracy by help of aircrafts, land or air drones, satellite information, etc

stop wasting my time about artillery guns, south africa has 120 guns ,nigeria has 660 guns, you have to live with this fact, i wont reply you again. period
And 660 guns in 1.3 millions square kms? Minus the fact that 330 of those guns have 11km range which we dont even need howitzers to engage, just long range mortars. Then on the other hand If a country was to invade Nigeria will 660 guns (actually 330) save Nigeria's 920 000 square km land mass?

agaugust: UAV is UAV as long as it does the job required. your own is not the only UAV that works in the whole world.

show me photo of a single south african spy balloon.

also show me picture of a single south africa military use satellite. grin grin grin

i wont reply stupid posts again because time is precious to me as my clock ticks.
Yes dont reply. Your own Nigerian UAV doesnt do any job at all.

Sorry you misfired again. Nigeria produces Ameno III drone UAV, and land drone USV all proudly 100% made in Nigeria.

Nigerian navy Israeli drones I hear have been repaired for minor electrical faults, and our navy is getting sea drones USV this year.

South African military is not balanced, it has no land drone and sea drone, and no single space satellite and space spy ballons grin grin

south African military is blind as a bat, no strategic space spy technology like the great Nigerian military. We are watching Jacob zuma and his wives in their swimming pool by satellite

South African old fashioned military too is not safe from Nigerian sophisticated spy power and technology grin grin

.
I know that Nigeria makes a UAV, but the UAV you make is still very primitive, thats why i didnt even mention it. Show me one single pic of Nigerians UAV with an electro optical payload....or any other payload.

So before Nigerian had satellites you were also blind bats? UAV's and special operations troops are enough to deal with Nigeria.

agaugust: nigeria can invade south africa, i did not say defeat you in that invasion, but enter your country and fight you on your homeland soil, and pray we dont ship 100,000 AK-47 rifles and grenades to the 250,000 nigerians who live in your country.

nigeria is a great war threat to south africa, but you cannot invade nigeria in any way

also, countries meet on 3rd party ground and fight war. america and china met and fought in a 3rd party country of korea.

south african airforce Gripen jets are better than nigerian F-7 jets, you said it, we accepted it. now this bitter pill you have to swallow....

nigerian army has 4 times bigger infantry soldiers, 5 times bigger artillery guns than south african army.

both contries about equal number of tanks and armoured vehicles.

the clear advantage and superiority is on nigeria's side and we will defeat south africa if we meet on common grounds somewhere we dont know. live with that fact, or go hug a 20,000 volts electricity transformer...

.
Now it all makes sense. When someone even has the idea of shipping weapons to Nigerians living in SA its easy to understand their simple thought patterns. Ship AK's through where? Which port? Distribute them how? Haha.

So you'll invade us but admit you wont dedeat us on home soil? The point of invasion would be what then? To come find a nice spot to roast your troops? If you count your 11km artillery (Which makes a huge percentage of your guns) as superior then i wont judge you, i'll just laugh in silence. Yes lets stop this boring topic.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by saengine: 6:25pm On Jul 10, 2013
agaugust:
first point of correction, about 330 of nigerian army 660 artillery guns have range of 20km to 30km, and 50 of the guns are mobile palmaria guns that can advance towards enemy positions from north, east, west directions at speed of 60km/hr on road, i posted the photo on page 479.

you say nigerian artillery is useless ? okay, when we fire it, put your first born son's head directly in front of the gun to block the 'useless' shell from coming out.

please dont drag us back on this thread with that F00LISH talk that nigerian army air defense cannot shoot down south african airforce, i proved it may/june so go back to pages 290 to 310. nigerian Roland SAM and south african Gripen jet cannot harm each other as long as they both stay away from each other and no direct challenge. proved on this forum

i said america and europe dont care to build artillery guns to shoot range 75km because armies dont stay that far part in real life war, or else it is no more a war. how will tanks/armoured vehicles and infantry engage each other ?

south african military academies teach nonsense and should come to nigeria for upgrading.

if your weapon artillery is good because of range 75km, out of 150 countries of the world, only 3 will not be using it, and since 25 years ago you sold only about 150 units, even your own south africa the producer has only 43 units. please keep quite and dont use politics as an excuse, it sounds too childish.

only a south african military academy with its poor combat strategic doctrine will dream of using 43 G6 artillery gun to defeat a massive army like nigeria. while your 75km range guns are firing, nigeria's far bigger army will split into 4 different fronts and attack south africa's far smaller army from 4 positions of attack lines, two front lines, one east line, one west line . south african army will first be trapped in a nigerian army pincer formation and secondly surrounded from behind your back. that is what cuban army did to south african army and forced your country to call for peace negotiation to avoid defeat.

quote :

"Cuba considerably reinforced its troops in Angola and came to the defence of the besieged FAPLA; the South African advance was stopped at the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, the largest battle in Africa since World War II, in which both sides have claimed victory. The bulk of the Cuban forces advanced towards Namibia further to the west, threatening to cut off the SADF-Forces remaining at Cuito. On 27 June 1988, Cuban MiG-23 fighters bombed the Calueque hydro-electric complex at 16.7367°S 14.9669°E, disabling it and killing 12 SADF soldiers. For some analysts [22] the stalemate at Cuito and the death toll and vulnerability to Cuban MiGs was viewed with apprehension by the SADF and may have had some bearing on the fact that a peace accord was agreed soon afterwards. United Nations-mediated negotiations took place with the aim of achieving peace in and independence for South-West Africa/Namibia and the South African ground troops completed their withdrawal from Angola on 30 August 1988 before the negotiations were concluded."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_Border_War

south african army is too weak in fire-power and too short in man-power, nigerian army is superior and will roast south african army.

you dont know what a real life battle-field looks like. its not a clean, neat, gentle man forum, battle field is bloody, scattered, rapidly changing, interlocking and confusing.

nigerian army will wipe out the south african army, and there will be no french army at any airport for south african soldiers to run for protection like in CAR.
Maybe in your wildest dreams do you think the Nigerian army will be able to pull off what you just described. You think South African defenses will be nicely stacked in a soccer field for you to encircle. You think your 4 fronts will have nice steady supplies and firepower? By your own admission half of your guns are in 11km range. Simple long range mortars can deal with that. Reduced numbers of G5 to deal with the rest and G6 for leftovers. Not to mention you will be driving into Ratel anti armour IFV armed with Ingwe, and Special Forces with anti tank weapons etc etc. You wont make it very far. And if you think Nigeria can bring all its heavy and most modern equipment down South in one supply line, again you are being delusional. Nigerian cannot attack SA, simple as that.

Batteries were replaced for free by the manufacturer, what does that tell you? Read what Andrew wrote about those incidents. Also ask the British, Canadians, Russians etc etc if they have ever had sub accidents.

agaugust: after nigerian artillery roasts the south africa army, the few of them that remain will be use for our shooting practice.

south african artillery guns 120. niegrian artillery guns 660.

south african soldiers regular 30,000. nigerian soldiers regular about 120,000.

who is ranking african military nations ? check out the above data....and only an army can occupy territory. navy sits in the sea and needs land harbour to replenish supply of food and fuel, air force needs a place to land before jet fuel finishes in the air !

the better army, is the stronger country.
Maybe in your dreams. Please don't waste our time talking about your largely useless artillery, some of which only have 11km range. Then you say you'll drive forward to close the gap, good luck with that. You will need to stop and setup to fire, by the time your commander is ready to fire his whole unit has been turned into roast chicken. Our UAV's and Special Forces will know where your artillery units are. That's one area in which SA Special Forces became famous, calling in artillery fire from many kilometres away. You ask why the U.S has 30km range systems? Rather ask why the U.S with all its technology was testing our G7 gun 5 or so years ago, because they know its superior. The only thing that has stopped SA from selling these guns is politics, just like the Rooivalk. India was going to buy 100's of G6 guns a few years ago, until Indian politicians got in the way. Same thing happened in Turkey. Point is, if Nigeria had a 75km range gun you wouldn't stop talking about it. Now that you don't have it, you pretend like you dont want it.

GidiNaijaPikin: Out range us ... firing from your nothern-most borders with Namibia or "floating" it from a ship and firing from the middle of the Atlantic? You must be kidding yourself by out-ranging and outraging yourselves for nothing. Facts are stubborn and have been provided several times against your claims. This thread is actually a military and war archive for war planners to study and learn from.

Of course you can outrange your next door neighbours.
I don't think you know what you're talking about. If Nigeria and SA were ever to go to war, whether you come via land to SA or we come via land to Nigeria, artillery systems will be used. And there is currently nothing Nigeria has with that range. Our shells can land 75km from where we fire them, yours cannot.

If you have any artillery in that range, you can gladly post it. Our 105mm and 155mm guns out-class yours, simple.

Safe to say South Africa's G6-52L gun will out-range anything Nigeria has.
In 2006 it set a world record of 75km for a self-propelled artillery system.

Henry120: Nigerian MI-17's are operational and in service. One in darfur, another in liberia, the last is in nigeria.

As regards maintenance or overhauls, the airforce has a facility in partnership with a Belarussian firm, were all mil maintenance are done, right here in nigeria.

Training for NAF mil's were done in belarus, and not russia.
You might have been changing oil and stuff like that, but not heavy maintenance. This is the 1st facility of its kind in Africa.

“Regrettably, no efficient system for servicing our helicopters ha s existed there for years. This centre will give a fresh impetus to do away with maintenance problems for our helicopters,” he noted.

only a F00L will buy an old used second hand F-7 jet for $15 million when chinese brand new JF-17 Thunder is same price $15 million that same year 2008. nigeria paid the same price of JF-17 jet for the best ever loaded F-7NI jet in the world. we did not want another Jaguar jet to put into storage, so we chose F-7 jet we can maintain 100% in nigeria, and copy chinese jet engine technology for nigerian development. wisdom is an asset, Huasa language says magana jari ce .
Yes you are right. NAF has made some very foolish decisions. Paying $15 million for jets that will only be used as a stop gap measure. That much money for jets that won't be around for long, very foolish I agree. Then you try justify the purchase by saying Nigeria will use F-7s to learn how to build your own jets, when you could have used much cheaper jets to do the same thing. Why are Nigerian engineers scared to buy and open up JF-17 if you claim they are the same price? You bought outdated crap, just get over it. Even the authour of beeglesblog (who you love so much) says Nigeria could have got much better value for money.

agaugust: only china's manufacturer chengdu can say exactly when production stopped because we both quote different sources with different dates. so no winner no loser.

however nigerian F-7NI jets are all brand new, the whole world knows that except your d.ull b.rain south african country man @saengine who needs urgent brain scan grin

since 1967 till 2010, any nigerian air force aircraft purchased second hand is marked and listed as second hand by SIPRI arms sales log, F-7 jet is listed as brand new. south african brians do like to misfire. grin

please stop wasting my time of s.tupid ideas that @saengine cooked up with his malfunctioning b.rain grin
It's upgraded, slightly different systems. Therefore its classified differently. It can still be classified as a new system, which doesnt change the fact that its a piece of rubbish which was not initially produced in 2008 like you claimed. It's 2nd hand crap, which has been my point all along. I'm not wasting your time, I'm not forcing you to reply.

agaugust: the links shows no south african made engines, its still an europe made thing. i read the link. nigeria navy NNS ANDONI sails fine on the sea, south african Carver jet never went beyond paper drawing board design.

my brain works 10 times better than yours, so please post source of your claim that nigerian F-7NI jets were not brand new built in 2008, prove that they were old jets from china's old air force fleet repainted in nigerian colours...your brain works better than mine ? ? ?

.
So a company with physical manufacturing facilities in Johannesburg, that produces engines....and you still say your brain works fine? Rooivalk also flies nicely too. Your point was that without French engines Rooivalk cannot fly, which is false. Just pointed out to you that without foreign engines your warship wont sail. Then when you see you've lost the argument you change the topic....haha. You don't have a clue about Carver programme, so I won't even waste my time.

F-7 production of all types stopped in 2008. You claim Nigeria was having its jets produced when the factory no longer existed. Just post a simple link showing the Chinese starting PRODUCTION of the Nigerian jet. Produce and procure are two different things. You bought 2nd hand, upgraded jets.

And I have told you over and over and over again that Rooivalk engines can be replaced by engines produced in SA if need be. I even gave you a link of the South African company that produces helicopter engines. It seems as if your brain just digests some information without comprehension. Just like your Nigerian built so called warship cannot sail an inch without foreign help, since it uses foreign engines and electronics.

Those drones look nothing alike. From wing profile to fuselage shape. And its clear seeing which one is better engineered. Unless you're gona say they look alike because they both have two wings, two booms, and a twin tail....which hundreds of UAV's have.

agaugust: you dont know reality of war, so 50,000 men will defend huge south african land size 1.2 million sq km, you are a comedian. liberia, tiny liberia alone nigeria used about 10,000 soldiers.

you like comedy, you said last week that south africa`s 50,000 men will defeat north korea`s huge one million man army. joke, real joke.

you have no true bush war information. you tell lies, south africa did not fight alone, about 3,000 men on frontline and 17,000 men rear-guard all about 20,000 south african army plus about 80,000 UNITA and FNLA rebels supporting south african army in combat. about 100,000 on south african side against about 120,000 on cuban, angolan,MPLA side.

the war was fairly balanced in power, and south africa did NOT win, you almost lost, then you quickly called for peace negotiations.

Nice pics of SA Frigates

1 Frigate can have 32 Umkhonto Missiles in the fire silos. 8 targets can be engaged simultaneously.
Umkhonto was the world's first IR-SAM missile to be fired from vertical silos, helping to reduce the radar cross section of the ship.
