The following got me smiling:
Our school can now graduate all her Medicine, Agric and Vet students.
They can now admit freshers into Medicine, Agric (and maybe Vet) since theirs is interim.
Engineering has being approved so hopefully they too would be accredited.
Medicine and Agric got FULL accreditation so they no longer have palaver with NUC again kpata kpata.
The last statement there, "ALL IS NOW OVER...!"

The hitherto suspended courses at the
University of Abuja - Medicine, Veterinary
Medicine and Agriculture - have been granted
accreditation by the National Universities
Commission (NUC).
The university also received an approval to run
engineering courses.
The suspension and non-approval of the
courses had been one of the major causes of
the crises rocking the institution in recent
times.
The announcement was made by the Chairman
of the Task Team on the accreditation of the
College of Medicine and Visiting Professor to
NUC, Professor Eugene Okpere, after an
inspection of the needed facilities at the
university yesterday, where he added that
while Medical and Agriculture courses had full
accreditation, veterinary medicine had been
given interim accreditation. "All the courses
can, however, take off."
"We are happy to say that University of Abuja
is more than ready to run these courses and
the facilities we see here are even superior to
those in other teaching hospitals," he said.
The institution now has the capacity to run the
affected programmes.
Providing further explanation on the status of
the engineering programme, Okpere said it had
just been granted approval and could now
commence steps to seeking accreditation.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university,
Professor James Adelabu, while speaking with
journalists, said the management carried the
NUC along, while putting the necessary
facilities in place.
He added that this became necessary as the
issue of the non-accreditation of the
programmes entered national discourse.
On the fate of the engineering students
transferred to other schools to complete their
programmes, Adelabu said: "Those that have
not been accepted in those universities will
come back to University of Abuja and we can
see what courses they can fit into.
"The journey to get to where we are today has
not been easy, but we thank God that all is now
over," he said.

Enough thanks to the pro chancellor; General Ogbemudia (rtd), he finally delivered the solution to this insurmountable quagmire.

Yea! The teaching hospital of the school is state of the art, the nibbling problem all these while had been the preclinical laboratories, now that it has been commissioned, their journey to graduation is all smooth and paved in polished gold.
Medical students of that school pass through hell to enter the college, at first, from the more than 23,000 students who applied for MBBS 2008, only 130 were given admission, and these 130 were further screened off in 100L to 30, qualification for proceeding to 200L was. A, B, C in all the 19 courses of 100L, those who had even one D were withdrawn irrespective of their G.P.
These students have pass through horrendous hardship ever since the former VC left, this new Pro chancellor that oversees the university council has brought peace of heart to these students, he has been able to do (in 3 months) what this present VC couldn't do since 2009. Congrats to all the College Of Health Science Students, Unibuja.

The National Universities Commission (NUC)
on Tuesday announced the accreditation of
Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, and
Agriculture. The commission also announced
the approval for engineering courses for
the University of Abuja. The Chairman of the
Task Team on the
accreditation of
the College of
Medicine and
Visiting Professor
to NUC, Eugene
Okpere, made this
known when the
team for the
accreditation of
the four courses that were suspended did a
tour of facilities at the university. Mr Okpere
said that with the full accreditation for
medical and agricultural courses and interim
accreditation for veterinary medicine, all was
now set for the take-off of the programme.
Explaining the status of engineering, the don
said even though the programme had been in
existence for several years, it had only just
been approved by the NUC and should now
start the process of gaining accreditation. He
said NUC was now convinced that the
university had the capacity to run the courses.
“We are happy to say that University of Abuja
is more than ready to run these courses and
the facilities we see here are even superior to
those in other teaching hospitals,” he said. The
Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu
Rufa’i, had in April 2012 announced the
suspension of the four courses after the
Needs Assessment (the panel set up to assess
needs of universities) visited the university.
Students of the university, led by the
Engineering students, had protested the non-
accreditation of courses in the university
leading to violence and closure of the
institution for several months. When the
school was eventually re-opened, the
Engineering students were transferred to
other nearby public universities. The vice
chancellor of the university, James Adelabu,
said management had to put in place all the
necessary facilities for accreditation with the
full cooperation of NUC because it became a
subject of national importance. Mr. Adelabu
said that aside gaining accreditation, the
university was also working with professional
bodies, adding that the Medical and Dental
Council of Nigeria had visited the university
for verification, and expressed satisfaction
with what was on ground. Explaining the fate
of engineering students transferred to other
universities, Mr. Adelabu said some of them
had yet to resume academic work due to time
difference in sessions. “Those that have not
been accepted in those universities will come
back to University of Abuja and we will see
what courses they can fit into. “The journey to
get to where we are today has not been easy,
but we thank God that all is now over,” the
Vice Chancellor said. Also speaking after the
inspection of facilities at the University
Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, the Chief
Medical Director, Peter Alabi, said there were
currently more than 120 consultants ready for
academic activities at the Medical College.

Since we started dating. She took it upon herself to tutor me. Force me to go to night classes and read, supervise all my assignments. And surprisinly i improved greatly and i sat for NLNG and SHELL scholarship, at the end shockingly. My name came out and today i am getting 300 thousand from LNG per session and 200,000 from shell. So plus the money i get from my parents. My account is chilling but now my girlfriend is asking me to share all my financial data with her, from ATM pins to account details and investments. It's really bothering me cause i don't think it's right but yet i don't want to seem ungratefull...my friends have told me not to try it. Now i am not stingy, i buy her gifts and take her on expensive dinners. But why does she want those details and do you think i should trust her and give her?

Really? Which school are you in? One of my guy's babe who is in another school told him her mugu don get scholarship allowee and she will be boxing him soon.

Whoever told you a 1st class or 2.1 is the panacea to all the economic trouble in Nigeria and that it will automatically make you desport yourself in rich and sybaritic lifestyle is lying to you. My God! you have something many people don't have, that's 5 million, why not invest it in your idea and reap the dividends, or did you think Bill gate have a degree when he made it large. My friend, intelligence is multifaceted, one might not be good at all in maths but be a good orator and linguist. One might be poor in English and be a good musician, academic intelligence is simply overrated, common sense would transmutate you from nearly going back to O'level to being the next big thing in Nigeria. You are not to blame though, our eyes have been clogged with books since age 3 and many fear for the worst when actually there is nothing there to fear for. 2.2 can even get you Medicine, as competitive as it is, get 2.2 in physiology or anatomy and apply and you stand a chance like every other person in direct entry.
Back to the discussion, invest in your idea, but if you really want to get the degree in finance, I will not discourage you. No knowledge is wasted and you can't be the first, many 70 year old have started school all over again and we've seen them on papers. But personally, I think all you need do is to up your interest in the livestock farming idea you are budding, if that's where your passion is, then therein lies your success, you are blessed bro.....idea in Agric, degree in Engineering, and 5million cool box to soothe your think process, not many are fortunate as you, what are you waiting for?

I think another thread should be started for students who wrote this years JAMB, they have little or no reason to be coming on this thread because its content might not be apt to what they wanna hear. That being said, I want to congratulate all those who have been given admission into the only Federal Ivory Tower in the Nation's capital. While you merry and celebrate, you should do well to know that you have a behemoth task ahead of you. Once again! Congratulations to all the medical students, finally! At last!! The besotted accreditation is upon us. A million thanks to Ogbemudia's led university council for working diligently in getting the unsavoury quagmire surmounted. We pray ASUU call off the strike soon and I wish you all a good stint in the school.

Nigerians are lucky to live past 65 years old, and to me, that's when someone should be done with work and enjoying his or her remaining time on earth. So, you're right. Death is here to stay, but dying young shouldn't be the norm.

Ogugua88, what can I say? Well, people dying at 65 in Nigeria is not abnormal, it is the norm. What do you expect when the life expectancy is in the 50's? Anyone who dies at 65 unfortunately in Nigeria dies at a ripe old age. It is saddening but that's the truth. Until our Govt fix our hospitals, repair our roads, upgrade education to enlighten everyday folks and create wealth so that idle youths don't find solace in marauding about killing innocent country men and women. Until the govt does that, life expectancy will still be in the 50's and dying @ 65 is a ripe old age. By the way, tell your boyfriend sexkillz that criticism are meant to make people better, as a moderator, if he gloss over advices and obstreperously acts in inane ways, it is called immaturity. #just felt like saying it though, maybe coming from you, he can learn to be more reasonable.
