malaika:

cheesy this is weird cheesy the xhosa gal and jennykadry are having a serious catfight while on the other hand SA Lady and Goddess are serenely discussing the (de)merits of an ANC government! LOL

I am one of those that sat back and watched in horror as Zuma mshini-wam'ed his way into the presidency, with the uncouth potbellied swollen-faced Malema declaring that he was prepared to 'kill for Zuma'. I wonder what the 'masses' think when they see Malema swoosh by in his Range Rover while boasting an H in Woodwork in his high school certificate, they must think that being in government with minimal education is the way to wealth.

As for Zuma, while his fellow inmates were studying in prison, what was he doing during his 10 years languishing on Robben Island?

No matter who says what, there's a lot to be said for education. Some even commented that they didn't have the priviledge of studying for a Masters in Economics at Essex (a jibe at Mbeki) but look at the calibre of people Mbeki is still able to summon (after his so-called disgraceful exit from government) to discuss his renewed African Renaissance project.

All of which of course doesn't answer the question of whether Nigerian men prefer SA women over Nigerian women, but this thread was messed up long before I also added my bit of confusion to the mix anyway grin

grin grin grin Killer, I cant stop laughing.

@Poster Shuuuuuu thank you for saying this. I thought perhaps I was the only who see this point about facebook and that's why I withdrew my account.

I'll stick to e-mails when I travel informing people that matter of my whereabouts. I am sorry but I find facebook is absolute madness. I mean one's emotions have been reduced to s status box, what in th eworld is that. Again is it by force that people should take pictures to tell us of the posh places they've been to. Its almost like a competition and a big prize is at stake.

I see, I recall watching a documentary about 9/11 but what stuck out for me was how Osama's brother was flown out of the country on the day of the bombings, by the US government. . . . . . . . shocked shocked

Exactly the one. I honestly didnt think that the poor journalist was going to live after all that. Funny how the whole thing was swept well under the carpet. Bush was voted out of office and the whole saga was never to be spoken about and America become thee most spotless squeaky clean country ever again. You must find the farenheit documentary. There's more detail.

@ Lady, what happened with Bush, which incident in particular are we talking about?  I know they got exposed silly with all the lies they invented about Irag/Saddam Hussain/Weapons. . . . . . . .

I think its called the farenheit report or something like that. Its the work of investigative journalism. There's a documentary on it that enjoyed a lot of media attention along the investigations of the 9/11 attack.

Sagamite:

A lot of countries have check systems and scrutinising parties/structures to check this.

Only mainly in third world is where you see lack of transparency to block that.

A lot of human beings are selfish and weaked, especially when they lack strong thinking and reasoning faculties upstairs, hence they think that is the only way they can compete and win.

As long as you can learn how to take Okada to the church, I am down.

Its hard to believe, especially after the Bush administration was exposed silly

SA Goddess:

I think from my views girl, you will know I do not support nonsense so NO, I did not vote for ANC and won't for as long as they have money-hungry morons who are only interested in enriching themselves and forget about the people that voted them in to begin with.  A lot of people voted for Zuma to spite whites and now they are crying, like you, I sit on the sidelines and shake my head!

Unfortunately for you and I It will be in a million years until we can see any government worldwide that is free of this disease.
SA Goddess:

The people of SA got emotional and voted Zuma into power so anything is possible Saga, forget policy, people vote on emotion here, still to spite the whites I guess. . . . .Zuma only has standard 3 education with 21 children, many girlfriends/fiancees, his views on HIV are a reason for concern, the shower and the people still voted for him. . . . . . . . . . . . .Malema could be a president in 15 years time. Already he is talking about nationalisation of SA mines and the ANC had that on their agenda at their central meeting after shouting at the top of their lungs that ANC Youth League does not influence ANC/Government policy. . . . . . .

On Zuma funny I have no qualms at all. Only it would be great if the ANC would remove him from position so that he doesnt run the second term, and this is only becouse I have no doubt he will take on another wife and Malema will find every reason to speak more just to spite him. To be honest an emotional vote is something I can forgive especially when you've had a government that pretended you do not exist for decades. We still see this pretense carrying on in Australia their government still pretends the Aborigins don't exist.

Lord help us all Malema doesnt occupy presidential position, however I have no doubt that this will create a second rift in the ANC government and the youth league itself, but for now I think I am okay.

Helen Zille while she may have been a potential she missed out on great opportunities to convince people otherwise. I mean there are so many opportunities to bring change in Cape Town to win ANC voters her way, but guess what she is more concerned about her next botox.

So lets allow this opera to play itself out.

Anyhow, are you good?

Yeah! m good MAM!

Well what can we say about the ANC. The youth league has always been a bunch if brats a monster created by the movement itself. Believe it or not these guys were created to make noise and nothing else. When have you heared of Malema's predecesors involved in any youth development issues even juju himself, never. When the ANC split you guys still showered them with votes. So whatever happens now we cant cry foul, me I think its an opera I just laugh, they probably learned from Bush. I honestly got over taking the politics of this country serious.

Nah, nah, nah, nah, sweetie.

Sugar, sugar, sugar, stay with me here. Sleeping with a woman he is not married to is not my criticism here.

Nah nah, nah!

My criticism is for a man to KNOW (this is gaddamit the FBI, CIA, KGB, M16, MOSSAD operative word here) a woman is H . . . . . I . . . . . . (yes the last one is) V positive and then sleep with her WITHOUT (another operative word) condoms. [Says with his strongest concentrated Yoruba accent] Da tis riiiitaddded, that persin don crase finish, won ti she epe fun (they have cursed him).

That was bad enough, but for the same person that was the HEAD (Oga, Alaye, Honcho, HNIC, Don) of the committee to raise awareness, help control and inform on AIDS across the entire NATION (lest we forget, a man with such responsibilities SHOULD be remarkedly versed on AIDS) to now say he took a shower after the unprotected gnashing with a HIV+ person to help "cut the risk of contracting HIV", was one of the biggest jaw dropping moment of my life. That was one of the rare moments I was watching a news report on TV with such horror I was watching it peeping throw the cracks of my fingers as I cover my face in embarassment.

And then he is most likely sleeping with his wives (and maybe other women) after that!!! (AHHHH, Olorun maje ka ri ibi [God, don't let us see misfortune]).

You start to wonder if he can put his own life (and others) at risk due to such level of ignorance despite being in a position that provides him with and opportunity to know comprehensively about an issue, why would anyone want him promoted and to lead.

Thank God, he has been OK so far, and nothing as I was dreading.

I thought before that Shapiro was going to bust my ribs having a field day with Zuma.  grin

Dont worry. He is sorted now. He finally figured a solution to his problem "Marry all of them" At least now we know where to find him if he is not in the main house. There's no danger no more the girls are safe and everybody is happy  grin grin grin

I also agree with you a president needs visioning ability amongst other things. Our Zuma has shown strategic vision and flexibility by being able to look at feasiblity of policies @ the same time being able to adapt them to suit changing times. That is evidenced by his ability to continue with pro business policies that led to economic growth during last years recession tongue

@xchoch me I wasnt going to grace @SAGA's comment on this one with a response. I saw it and I just moved on as if I was doing a singing in the rain broadway dance wistling and tap dancing along. Most presidents across the world as well as their governors have fallen prey to this kind of scandals. The most recent being the sex tape with love-peddlers I cant remember who this mumu president was but hey it was something of an opera. As for me, I say let them engage in any sexual escaped as much as they wish, why the hell should I care if its not happening in my bedroom. Quite frankly I'd prefer not to hear about it as long as the job gets done we're all good. And boy oh boy Zuma has got it together. Better than those presidents with HARVARD/OXFORD DEGREES and all. I admire his advisers more, however the whole team IYA ROCKA SANA.

Sagamite:

Honestly, I say this with all the sincerety on Earth, all the things you said is really, let me emphasis it by repeating, REEEEEEEEEEAALLY is no excuse for a TRAINED medical practititioner to make such a moronic suggestion about such a serious issue.

A supposedly trained doctor to tell people that garlic and beetroot will help cure AIDS just to avoid "side-effect" of ARVs? Amsorry, a well-trained doctor WITH SUCH LEVEL of responsibility to deal with something killing millions would base his/her opinion on ffffcking SOLID research. She would rather wait for detailed investigation, consult with the best brains in the world before proffering a solution, instead of coming up with such cretinous suggestion.

And even if the suggestion was not hers, a well-trained doctor would not put her reputation on the line to promulgate such retarded suggestion. She would resign.

There is no excuse in anyway.

In regards to Nigeria, I have no stats to give you. You can google all you want. That is where my stats will also come from. We do not have so much of an issue like in Southern Africa. We are not having a vast majority of people falling ill and dying the way AIDS spread and which would be obvious. My Zambian friends know at least up to 10 friends and CLOSE relative (cousins etc) that have died in their youth (20s to 40s) from AIDS, I do not know of a SINGLE ONE in my circle, neither do any of my friends despite Nigeria's poor health system. Not to say AIDS does not exist in Nigeria, but we have the epidemical problem at all.

I can also recall reading sometime last year how Nigeria has successfully put everyone on AIDS on ARV.

But as I said, it is not at epidemical levels for it to be major news in Nigeria for my likes to pick up. If it was, tons of people would be dying and orphans created that I would have picked it up, but we don't have such.

AIYAYAAAA!!!! MANAGEMENT people management, Is there anybody else out there other than the species @SAGA who doesnt understand the word MANAGEMENT. MANAGEMENT is the operative word here.

2600 000 people infected with the disease in a country that's being managed by a gangster/mafia government, and a country that is free of influx control of the foreigners. I'll say no more about this lala land.

I care nothing about Zambia that shares nothing with no one, but will pay much respect to small countries like Swaziland and Lesotho who remained very true to themselves on the matter. Lesotho dug so deep on their crisis as small as they are and even managed to get personal attention of the british royal house. I have no doubt that with time the battle on destigmatization will rid them free of the disease, while others continue to remain superficial.
Romance / Re: Why Do Nigerian Man Prefer S. A Women Over Nigerian Women? by SALady(f): 8:54pm On Oct 10, 2010
hhhmmmm!!! NIGERIANS and the HIV/AIDS issue. I didnt read much on your comments guys but I'll do so in the morning. Right now I want to take it back to the issue of @SAGA on Dr beetroot. Saga aids education campaign taught me that you have two main things to deal with 1. is the prevention of it and 2. is the management of it for the infected/affected . Now lets dwell on the management of it two things happen you have to take ARV's and live a healthy lifestyle.

When Manto and Mbeki came out about their position no one was sure if ARV is the solution as it had reported a lot of burdensome side effects on the patience. The other issue was cost and they had to find the most cost effective way to deal with the matter considering the infected numbers that were reported. The AIDS subject became an issue of rands and cents at the end of the day. If you remember too well ARV's were only affordable to the rich and famous. Thabo didnt think the SA health budget was sufficient enough to deal with this. HIV/AIDS essentially put a spanner in the works with all the plans they had already outside the AIDS matter. This was a double edge sword and any decision they were going to take had potential to backfire.

A safe decision to take then was to invest in the education campaign and unfrotunately Dr beetroot being the messenger got shot in the process. Again unfortunately Thabo was never able redeem himself from his utterances and contribution to the matter. This is when his ship began to dwindle and finaly sunk.

Any way I still say SHARRRAAAAAAP on Dr Beetroot and give me the Nigerian stats on people reported to be living with hiv/AIDS over the years. And give me the guarantee on the integrity of those stats. Also give me solutions devised for the affected. Otherwise may you forever hold your peace, because this is what Dr beetroot understood about the disease.

@SAGA okay you and I need to start talking about an African Solution. We need to move forward on this blaa blah blah hogwash. Oh by the way I know exactly what you meant by KELLOGG give me a bit of credit.

Can we agree that this continent needs to invest in research. The kind that should be made for all africans not just for SA or Nigeria. We need to get all these african experts who are willing to come back to work on research and help to cultivate and nurture new talent in the process. I for one am tired of Africans who still want to believe that the West and Europe are the only one's who can do what they do. We all know how much these people invest in reserach we are talking, budget, time, curiousity and patience.

Lets think about it we need to stop blaming our governments for this. How many Billionaires does Nigeria have? What are these guys doing with all that money? Mandela for one, everybody knows that everytime he is out of the country he goes out to collect donations. Africa should have used him wisely while he was still fit enough. These are the poeple your experts and mine and around the continent can at least convince to give back to their societies. Forget the government. By such doing I am sure the europe and the west would be keen to make their contribution that way Africa can grow its own pioneers.

I mean having one person here and there is only perpetuating that black ma's mentality of at least I am better than so and so. China managed to overcome this disease and look what they've achieved. The only thing that's killing Africa is our inability to stand as one. We even knw how to fight the people who are on our side. There's a lot of love and hate between us which I think ca be channeled towards other positive and mind blowing things.
This is suppose to be a give and take scenario, where iff we send people to learn in europe/west we knoww that we also have our own knowledge and new  discoveries to share. This means when we send you to Harvard you are not just going there to take but you are also there to leave them with something. Something very African not just Nigerian or South African.

What is the AU doing anyway? Its the AU right if my memory still serves me well. The ast time I heared of them was in my high school history text book These guys get together once in a while to sit in big airconditoned buildings for a few days just to fart. I cant remember the last time watching the news and hear any mention of the good they've just done and any progress from the last agreements.

I know my imagination is running wild right now but I strongly believe these are the things that people need to start creating a buzz about.

Yes Nigerians are very intelligent people I know that and there's no pun intended by so saying. Are we then suppose to carry on with the strategy they've been using even when we understand the risk involved? or do we need to become a bit more creative than that for sake of a long term bigger picture.

So @SAGA this is the only time you are allowed to call me EMOTIONAL but never MYOPIC. So what on your mind on solutions. Please spare me the whole parent/child mentoring crap its actually very condescending.

Sagamite:

Majority of those that are known did work in Nigeria at some point, didn't they?

There are TONS of people in the same calibre as Mokgokong that went abroad to study and spent their entire careers in Nigeria till this day. I mean TONS. I just need to run through the list of Professors at Ibadan, OAU, Lagos, ABU, UNN etc and I would be feeding them to you one by one.

Well I am sure you saw a team that trained under him LOCALY one NIGERIAN. You also saw how he remains competitive to those who got their qualification internationally NIGERIAN. And that he continues to produce TONS like him here at home who will remain competitive GLOBALY just like him.

Sagamite:

Whilst a geezer with an MBA from University of Surrey might stroll into a well paid job in SA and have a chance to shine as the MBA would be impressive. That would have been the same in Nigeria, only that that period would have been the 90s. Nowadays even if a Nigerian gets his MBA from City University, he would still be fretting whether it would land him a top job since there are tens of Nigerians getting it from places like LBS, Harvard, Kellogg, Columbia, Sloan, Insead etc. The competition is so intense and embedded, Nigerians have to and are used to competing at the top to differentiate themselves.

tarted breaking down.

Oh Lawrd yet another MBA impressionist SA produces TONS each year the programmes with some instutitions e.g GIBS is designed such that the learners go overseas to get international exposure as part of the programme. So an MBA is no longer something to brag about in SA its a bare necessity to accessorise your cv. Vusi Thembekwayo will give your havard graduates a good run for their money any given sunday.

blah blah blah HARVARD and Kellog I can think of sisi khampepe and I have no doubt she'll tell you of the many. About Kellogg what they do GLOBALY we do it here in our kellogg office and manufacturing site.

Sagamite:

Huh?

Whaa?

grin grin grin grin grin grin

Why the hell would I know that?  grin

Well that's exactly why you dont even QUALIFY to even speak her name, Dr Beetroot that is

Sagamite:

What contributed to the brain drain in Nigeria is not people studying abroad.

It is the mismanagement of the society.

Sending people abroad to study does not imply most will not comeback. If you check the profile of the average Nigerian academic that studied abroad and now works abroad, majority did return to work in Nigeria at first. They only emigrated in the 80s and 90s when corruption became embedded and systems started breaking down.

Well then I am afraid whatever you just said on the mismanagement of society nullifies your argument with points taken. When people are sent overseas to train it is done so they can bring the skill back home  in order for a country to be recognized and compete equaly on a GLOBAL scale. Your acquired knowledge is meant to advise the powers that be accordingly and fight to the bitter end. That is what i call GLOBAL recognition. This happens when the world knows that you are alive and well and they can do meaningful business with you.

Sagamite:

people abroad to study does not imply most will not comeback. If you check the profile of the average Nigerian academic that studied abroad and now works abroad, majority did return to work in Nigeria at first. They only emigrated in the 80s and 90s when corruption became embedded and systems started breaking down.

I have no doubt. You would have realised that is my point in the first place if you were not so emotional.

Yada yada yada.

The world is global, I am not into such rants.

There are Americans working in SA, there are Zimbabweans working in Nigeria, there are Nigerians working in Australia, there are Chinese working in Zambia, there are Japanese working in France. That is the world we live in today.

I still remain unsure of the good of an overseas qualification if a countries systems are allowed to breakdown. that beats me.

Yes the world is GLOBAL and SA is a big competitor in all spheres. Unfortunately the GLOBAL world has not yet discovered a cure for MEN'S PMS  wink the things that us women have to deal with on an occasion like this.

Again South Africans are all over the world either with work andand or studying as we speak right now

Oh my dearie they all seem to end up somewhere in the wilderness but Nigeria. Dr beetroot had work to do here at home hence most of her works ended up here at home. Mokgokong has always been here at home. Surely by now you understand that what a Nigerian man can do so can a South African man. If you still want to deny it well I cant force it through your skull.

Just out of curiousity does Nigeria have an ARV programme?? Tell us about its distribution strategy.

Now problem that xchoc and I have with you is your selective listening and you refuse to understand the fact that in SA we believe that an international qualification and skill is good to have, but what value does it have if it cannot be used to address practical issues closer to home. Otherwise how are you going to make it shine if its stuck somewhere in foreign land where its not needed. This is my issue with you and this is what SA is making sure not to lose sight of and I fully support it. We all know how this actually contributed to the drained economy of your native goverments

They said we would NEEEEEVER bring apartheid down, well i say watch that space as you see more and more SA in those universities you are soooo convinced we've never seen doors to.

Everything you decided to pretend you didnt hear from us I am sure you've decided to take it and dip your ignorance in it so it may simmer. So until you decide to unglue yourself in the UK your qualification is useless. and I will repeat those people you are clinging on to dont need you for poo.

Its what they've been doing for centuries, perhaps if you told me the reason they cant let go of you is because you are sooo good they cant do without you then I’d understand.
