My fellow 9jas, your girl is rather average, better luck next time. When is this pageant anyway?? Lets hope she's stocked up we'll on brains and personality then perhaps she can go far in the competition. SA has had its share if average girls (black) in this pageant but because of their confidence and brains these girls did exceptionally well in the miss worl/universe pargeant.

PhysicsMHD:

I think that somehow CNN got the wrong picture,

from all google searches for Folashade Abugan a less attractive athlete comes up, unless she also got massive plastic surgery in addition to steroids,

The one in the center.

Once again, the one in the center.

I think they got the wrong pic. Though I would like to know who is in the picture they have up there as that woman is indeed very pretty (better than Nigeria's candidate in the Miss World competition, for sure).

eeehhhhhh! in as far as the pic is concerned i would recommend that they do the gender test as well. grin grin

I say its best to tell the person. I think of it as honouring the person and whatever it is that you may have had. They say true measure of a man is not in how he starts things but in how he ends them.

Sagamite:

SA Lady,

Just to emphasis my point earlier. I looked into the African population of the top 10 unis in UK:

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-141689.0.html

You will see that the figures back my argument:

Cambridge - http://www.societies.cam.ac.uk/cuns/cuns_about.htm (no breakdown data provided, but they have a dedicated society)
Oxford - (No breakdown data provided)
LSE - http://www2.lse.ac.uk/study/informationForInternationalStudents/countryRegion/Africa/africa.aspx
Imperial - http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/international/students/regionalpages/africa/
UCL - http://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/international-students/country-information/africa
Bristol - http://www.bristol.ac.uk/ssio/statistics/totalstunos_nat_alpha.html
Warwick - http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/international/prospective/regionalinfo/africa/
Edinburgh - http://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/international/country/africa
KCL - http://www.kcl.ac.uk/aboutkings/strategy/2006-16StrategicPlan.pdf (see page 17)
St Andrews - (No breakdown data provided)

Take note that all the figures you are seeing for Nigerians are for the Nigerians based in Nigeria and paying foreign fees. It is common knowledge that the UK is "infested" with Nigerians, so there are tons of Nigerians/half Nigerians with British citizenship that attend these unis but enrol with their British nationality (I did the same) to pay the cheaper home fees. Such students are actually the majority of the Nigerian students. To really get a realistic figure, multiply the university's stated number of Nigerian students with between 2-4, and you will see why I said at least 70% of black students in these universities are Nigerians, considering that only 1-5% of students in these unis are black.

@SAGA I went through the links and Its the makes of great info to have. Thanks to you 'cos I am sure it'll go a long way.

However the issue of how many nigerians are in international varsities was not a subject of debate but rather how there was/is lack of such students from SA. Again thank you for this reserach since is tells us of how the countries are represented continent wide with SA included.

Anything more as informative as this is welcomed keep sending.

Romance / Re: Those Little Things You Guys Do That Annoy Us Girls by SALady(f): 9:18am On Oct 15, 2010
When a guy takes liberty to kiss you on a first date without even trying to establidh if you are comfortable with it. Its the most annoying, selfish and insensitive thing. Guys sometimes you have to ask, chemistry is not always a given nor apparent.
