U must have burnt the power pack of your laptop.see a hardware techician for help..in the future,its advisable u don't always leave ur charger plugged to your laptop when u switch between nepa and generator.first,u switch on your generator and allow a steady flow before u charge(ie,if ur charger is left in ur laptop and u switch,it tends to consume all the voltage)

Pls refer to the product manual and specifications of that particular model.hp g72 is a series as in there is g72-b61nr,g72-b67us...and some of them are subject to region so its possible that your model may not be full option.to find out the exact model u have..look under ur laptop or click on start,then accessories..system tools..system information.there u wld find the specific system model..when u get that,u can simply type that on google for specifications

The best I can recommend is HIRENs BOOT CD on usb v15 and very customise-able.it loads in linux environment and can violate any windows RIGHTs.besides,any troubleshooting tool has to be relevant to a need and it takes a lot of practice

@ deji well im actually trying to avoid d factory reset being a office environment workstation, thats why i decided to look for alternative options.

will sort it out. iv got the admin privileges on the server. its the norton thing thats causing it, dragnet's fix has helped a bit tho.

@skywalker, yes, there is server 2008 here, no roaming profile. as far as i know. as for other workstations, will need to ask.

thing is i do know how to deal with the issue, im just not having the time or inclination, and the turn around period. besides if i dont get the cause out of the way, a new install with a new profile on the server will end up the same way over time.

@deji, pc has decent specs. 3.2 ghz dualcore, 3gb ram 500gb drive.

its on a office lan and there is some norton enterprise network thingy on the network. was suspecting that maself too. funny tho i neva checked if it was actually installed on d pc or on the server.

how do i exclude my workstation from that ish? i use the pc or wordprocessing only.

i set up a dualboot with ubuntu and use that mostly, its just that at times i really have to.boot into windows daily and its becoming too much of a bother. matter of fact, even booting seems to be a lot slower nowadays

Dude,u have to meet the adminstrators in your office to know the kinda priviledge u have(is it user,admin or power user)?also,using an enterprise version of an antivirus entails a lot of policies that can be deployed to users to restrict them from somethings and most importantly,check the firewall settings too.
Also,dual bOoting 2 OSes that is not properly configured may be responsible.linux makes use of more resources than windows.it would have be safer if,from scratch u partitioned ur hard disk then installed ubuntu first then installed windows next than to installed ubuntu on an already installed windows.(Then I'd use easy bcd to dual boot)
Finally,u can format the partition containing windows and re-install..that way,you wld know the amount of shared memory..
As I always say,let the professional handle the professional issues instead of the 'do-it-urself' attitude

Truthfully,d most preferred site would be d manufacturers site like hp.com for hp but here's an observation;some manufacturers don't support d use of some latest drivers or updates on older systems(xp) eg a system designed for xp,the hardware may not really support or function well with windows 7 so wen u upgrade or make a clean format,u'd notice when u wan download the drivers for the model,u may not find windows 7 listed in the OS(that doesn't mean it won't eventually work).this is where your experience comes into play.either u EXTRACT the drivers be4 a clean format or u upgrade so u can do d compactibility test else I use drivers from my collection..try also these sites DRP.SU or DRiVERCOLLECTION.com

I once used such a software and it worked for the initial time that it asked me to restart my computer. after that, it completely messed up my computer's registry. I ended up reinstalling with an actual key. I just gave an answer from experience not hear say. When u use a desktop system,its always advisable u use ups wit it else u risk the OS corrupt or bad sectors on the hard drive when lights goes off the system..for ups,get original APC(expensive though) or basic bluegate(I think its 5k).more importantly,I'd advise u repair/reload ur OS or 2.regenerate ur hard drive as I'm sure u shd be experiencing 1 ;if not both problems

Seehow: My view on this issue is that the Govt shud take it's stand on some standards regarding the avaition indutry.
one, any plane above 10yrs shud not be allowed in nigeria air space,whether well maintained or not,
2nd,both Dana and other airlines that are still operating now, be give short time to change their aircrafts to new ones,or close the business and let those who can do it.
Thirdly, certified engineers in the industry be given the power to stop any aircraft with a fault, from flying, and any airline authority that sacks it's engineer base on this ground be to face the wrath of d law. Or withdraw it's license to fly.
These will bring in some level of sanitation into the avaition indstry. Atleast our president is flying a brand new aircraft for savety purpose, so it's shud be applicable to the citizenz too

I won't advice you to repair the charger. Buying a new one is better.

Although I have some1 that repairs mine but not worth d stress..instead make sure you buy original not china charger..most of u go for CHEAPER instead of BETTER cuz of price..besides,for the 1k charger u bought comes with a very light fake AC cable that becomes very hot and burns wen u use it..original tokunbo ac cable alone is 500(it a thick cable that is even FUSED)..so wen you get a surge,it stops at d fuse..

You may have downloaded an ADWARE.also you don't just delete an installed program;u un-unstall it.you must have partially un-installed it and for adwares triggering the links to your mozilla.an ex is when you install IDM,automatically it opens up ur browser to their homepage or when u unistall,for some programs,it would redirect to homepage asking you comments for uninstalling.
Solution-reinstall d program then properly uninstall it from add/remove programs or use an UNINSTALLER.if symptoms persists,scan ur system

almaliki: @ skywalker.....Yes u are right on point wit d diagnosis....at tymes it starts up quite normal but after a while the bluescreen appears n it attempts to restart....I have been trying to reformat the lappy and install XP on it but it does'nt recognise the hard disk drive even with the new one.....anyway will still keep you posted......thanks.

If you are sure the hard drive is good..then the problem you are having is a SATA NATIVE MODE..meaning,in your BIOS,check if the sata native mode is on.switch to OFF.similarly,you may see AHCI change it to IDE and save..try reloading XP..
2nd method..find a SLIP-STREAMED xp cd..(ie using NLite to integrate sata drivers into XP cd)its technical.

Aluweezy: pls, just want to know how i can change a lnk file back to a folders on mobile phones cos i connected my phone through a USB drive on my pc and when i tried accessing a folder from my microSD, it created a shortcut and changed the folder format to lnk file. All my apps, pics, and video are still intact but i can't access it

in this case,a harmeless but annoying trojan is responsible..not to worry,all your files are intact but hidden(the ones in the folder)instead a copy of the folder names have been created with a .lnk extension..
for NOVICES,
1..scan the hard drive as external on a clean drive to remove the causing agent else it would continue to populate itself onto any removable devices connected to the infected system
for PROFESSIONALS
type cmd,the type ATTRIB <drive letter> -h -s /S /D *.* then press enter
2..type del *.lnk (to delete all the lnk shortcuts)
3..close cmd

also,i read in the posts where one of the professionals was telling someone about using WINDOWS 7 ACTIVATOR..like wen u update,it would install wat and lockout the system..
BREAKING STALE NEWS-there is a rare activator(..az) that accepts updates like "BRING IT ON"
moreso,after a crack,you can set your updates to "never check for updates" or "download updates but let me choose whether to install" or "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them"

i read a post wer someone wrote about avira and adetwin answered "google it"-dat was unprofessional..if he knew he wouldnt ask

pls,the professionals in the house should know the main cause for this is a "CORRUPT OS" caused mainly by
(1)virus
2. corrupt or missing startup files
3..bad sectors
the first aid is:scan the hard drive as an external from a clean system with a strong antivirus(in case it is infected)
2..after which you insert a copy of the OS ur trying to repair(if you are using xp,insert xp....if it is win7,insert win7 cd)
3..after the first startup page,for xp ,choose install and not repair(if u choose repair,it would take you to a command prompt and you may get lost)
4..window would now detect an already installed os and now asking you if to install into the partition,it would now delete only "all your previously installed windows setup files" and replace the missing files..windows would installed all your drivers automatically and retain all 3rd party applications..
5..when you are done,just restart windows and its back on
solution 3..
if you are good or have the knowledge of how to regeneraTE BAD SECTORS on a drive....then pls proceed
the cheap and popular windows embedded command is CHKDSK <drive name> /f or from cmd,you can just type CHKDSK /? to bring out all the options
for me,i use a sophisticated commercial software HDD REGENERATOR by a russian Dmitriy Primochenko..if it aint a virus nor a missing file,this software would regenerate your hard drive and its back on..
goodluck..
