really this is such a harmless worm with simple instructions, all it does is:hide your active folders and replace them with the links that wont open the target folder, and later propagate itself into removable devices
solution for your computer:
open a command prompt(type cmd from run)
type attrib -h -s /S /D *.* then press enter (it would restore all your folders back)
when done, type del *.lnk (to del all the empty links)

type the drive name with a colon(f
type attrib -h -s /S /D *.* then press enter (it would restore all your folders back)
when done, type del *.lnk (to del all the empty links)

best way to remove the worm is to scan your hard drive with either an updated rescue disk on startup or u remove your harddrive and scan from a clean system

in ur case,its over sabi thats the problem,most procedures described in this forum are not always complete or totally accurate, depending on the state of the problem,can 1decide whats best situable.let a professional handle some problems instead of asking every questions, when its being rectified and you are in attendance then and there u can ask questions and even learn better, there are some basics u must know before proceeding on step 2 or 3

I'll recommend kaspersky internet security 2012 or norton 2012. You can download them online for free. You dont have to activate it, just download, install and scan your whole system.

1. After download, uninstall avast
2. Reboot, install kaspersky or norton
3. Reboot and scan

If the damage is much, i'll advice you to format your drive and reinstall a new OS, or if it isn't much you can cope with the damage.

correction 2:when you install any of the kaspersky products,its database update is subject to the release date of the software (after installation,checkk the database release,if its kav 2011,its database would be that month in 2010).so for the kis 2012,its db would be sometime earlier in 2012 because kaspersky releases its products on a future date ie kis 2012 was released in 2011, so its advisable to keep the antivirus up-to-date before scanning so you can detect viruses released after the release.
suggestion:a kaspersky antivirus (kav) is much lighter and user friendly than a kis.should the user miss a setting,the system may not run well and would become slow,
also,for a computer already infected,the best way is to scan the system from an a clean virus free system or using the rescue disc on startup, installing an antivirus on an already infected system is never effective as its like a thief is already resident in a house and watching out for the police that is just entering the building(the thief has better knowledge and control

for mtn connection, mtn has kinda restricted their browsing connection using bb desktop manager, so u will have to configure it manually in phones and modems with initialization command

Here is what you will do, remove the hard disk from the laptop, then get an external disk connector, you can get it @ 1k and insert your hard disk into it, make sure you get a SATA connector IF its a sata Disk.

After connecting your hard disk to the SATA connector plug it through a USB port of any laptop and copy all your important data. Return the hard disk to the laptop and FORMAT!

hello,i already replied, guess it may have been banned, besides what deji suggested,try this:
on the installed program icon,right click then choose PROPERTIES, on that page,click on COMPACTIBILITY, check the box in front of "RUN THIS PROGRAM IN COMPACTIBILITY MODE'
drop down the OS menu and choose your desired OS eg windows xp service pack 2
also,check the box below "run this program as an administrator"
then click on ok or apply, QED
alternatively,goto hp.com and download the windows 7 version of the installer

On the installed icon of d hp program,right click and choose PROPERTIES then click on COMPACTIBILITY.on that page,check d box 'run this program in compactibility mode for:'.drop down d list of OS and choose ur familiar OS(vista or win XP.also check d box below RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMIN.click. Okk or apply afterwards.
If you are still experiencing problems,just visit d vendor site to download d win7 version of the installer

months ago,i joined a group of pple and we purchased a software "SPOON STUDUIO" to make applications portable so you can carry them on your flash without installing it,

besides,he formatted his hard drive because it was corrupt, recuva may never be able to recover data from a bad partition,mbr or bad sectors,
the 1st resolve would be to repair the harddrive before recovering data off it,

hello, i use the same seagate 500gig and i once had the same problem, the problem arises as a result of bad parttion table or mbr
the process is quite professional but here is a 1st aid :
first,go to the device manager(just type devmgmt.msc at run or go through control panel-->system-->hardware-->device manager)now plug in the device,look in the tree for DISK DRIVES,it would appear there as seagate or portable, right click the device then properties.click on policies and then populate, if that is confirmed then proceed to the next level;
2, find this software FIND AND MOUNT and install it on the system your are using to recover the files,
3, the software would show all the drives available, right click on the portable devive(u can also use the sixe to verify your device 500GB)--->scan--->intellectual scan or thorough scan,
4, when its done scanning,it would show u a list of all the partition found, right click on it and choose MOUNT AS, choose an available drive letter (a
5, it would now create a virtual drive which would come up for you to have access to the drive, quickly copy all your files out of the drive to another location,preferrably the C:\ , (never recover files to the same device you are recovering),
6, temorarily,you can retrieve some or all your files out of the drive,
