I hope you get your money back. Twitter is an effective means. Drag wakanow as much as you can with tweets and tag popular bloggers. I also hope this thread can be moved to the front page to create better exposure to this scam and perhaps let other victims come forward.

Moving on....Everyone should note! ALWAYS BOOK DIRECTLY FROM THE AIRLINE! I only use the likes of wakanow to compare prices, then head over to the cheapest (but also reputable) airline's website to book. An airline's website will always show the most accurate information about their own services. Furthermore, no third party website would book you cheaper than the actual airline. If you see a ridiculously cheap price compared to what the airline offers on their website, RUN! It's a scam. I've heard several experiences of people getting turned back at the airport simply because Wakanow didn't confirm their tickets.

Guys, just run from third party agencies! Whether it is websites (wakanow) or even physical travel agencies. Book your tickets yourself online! Life is easier these days....DIY is the best way.

NB: For airlines (like Ethiopian) that do not allow Nigerians to book online, head over to their offices and book. But no be only dem dey sef....if the wahala too much, jump and pass. Just always avoid stories that touch. In this Nigeria, just avoid it.

I did some research on this, and Stanbic GIF is actually quite okay. They made a return of over 73% in 5 years. I feel it has a long term feel to it too. If you need a 25% exposure to equity, and your money is guaranteed after 3 months.

I have a considerable amount of my funds with Stanbic MMF. I want to diversify a bit.... Does anyone here run the Guaranteed Investment Fund? Does it have higher yield than MMF. It sounds attractive from what I have read on their website, but I'd like a real comparison from someone who run both packages.

If you are going for a conference then it can be expedited, you would be given an early date to accommodate your travel plans. I had the same case.

I attended two interviews within a month. The first interview went well but I was out on AP and later asked to red,hedule. God, how do I find another schedule. I went for emergency, stating that my conference is close and I need a decision. I almost have up because I read somewhere that such A P may be a sign of refusal. Yet, I prayed and cAlled until, my emergency appointment was approved. 6:30am . Nigerians where already waiting even those for 9am. This time I was over confident because I knew the first time I did well with conversation and the VO in booth 9 and later 15 was opened. He knew my area. In this second round, I inserted an ID card which made him issue me white paper immediately. As I stepped out with tears in my heart, many in the hall started congratulating me, even three families that got rejected on my line.

No one has ever asked me to show funds but it is for your own convenience.
In SA, you will not be able to withdraw cash from your Nigerian issued cards so makes more sense to have some cash.

If you can afford it, please do.

This is not true. I am in SA now, and I am using my Nigerian (uba) Mastercard comfortably. Both naira and dollar cards are working. If you're in doubt, you can confirm from your bank before travelling.

And really, I have been to three countries this year, but no one has ever asked me to provide PTA at the airport. I don't know why people bother about it here. I use my card whenever I'm out of the country (cos that's the only way to get the best rates). In SA cities, you can take uber from the airport to where ever you're going. In European countries, my card worked seamlessly with the train machines. My card worked in Canada too. And of course, you can always pay for hotels and meals using card. Tourists sites accept card payment too.

It is advisable to hold cash though, just around 300 - 500 rand would be enough for any "emergency cash" incident, which typically never happens to me sha. You can change back in Nigeria, or use the ATM to withdraw in SA. Note though, SA ATMs do charge R50 fees on foreign cards. So do all your withdrawals at once! If you're withdrawing at least R400, you'll still get better rate (even with the fees) than bureau De change in Nigeria.

I have same problem, i applied on the 3rd of Aug. still no biometrics collection letter. I think their wwbsite had a problem that period, because I wasn’t charged biometrics collection fee of $85 at the point of submitting online, thats the reason i feel the letter is not coming. I have sent CSE but stillno response

if this isn't your first Canada visa application, your previous biometric capture is valid for 10 years.

you can't extend your stay in canada with a visit visa. Do your conference and come back. There are proper legal ways to get permanent residence; visit visa is not one.

I submitted in Lagos, I had to book an appointment in advance though.

Got my visa. Processing takes just a day now.

Not with Canada, but with the US. Lufthansa, FRA transit both legs, without a valid Schengen visa....

By 5th of April, A large Batch was released, and everyone started coming with their testimonies and Regrets.
So the point is, Many people complain of Delays, and the fact that their application has stayed like 6 years at the embassy.
Your application has not being forgotten, it is on track and will be attended to, The time frame is 35 Working days not 35 days from Mon-SUN.
When you visa Takes 35 working days before you get a mail, you are 76% sure it is Approved, when it Takes More days, It may be that t requires more confirmations, still you are in the 76% positives, when your visa Takes just 2 weeks of processing, or a Month, it is a 45% chance of getting approved, so expect you application to take a while.
I am not saying this is a perfect signature of Canadian Visa, but if you have this at the back of your mind, you will be on a more relaxed mood, still anything can go wrong or go right for you in any case, and there are some people whose visa is withheld until what they want to do has passed, still doesn't mean you will get a Rejection, am sure 70% still gets approved.

For Canada, the timeframe is in calendar days, not working days.

Is the signature yours, but different from the former one? No problem. People change signature all the time. Just make sure when you fill visa forms and all, you use the signature on your current passport.

2. No difference. Pick the one that's more convenient.
3. You can make payment through most Nigerian cards. I use UBA, and I had no problems with payment.

If your brother is legally in Canada, you have nothing to worry in that aspect. Don't make the mistake of lying. It usually doesn't end well. Your brother most probably already entered your name as his sibling when he applied for his TRV/PR
