hustla: Black Americans used to teach tutorials for Tax refund fraud to others in their basement
Some of them were busted some years ago
Our own is to blow up scams we didn't start
There was a gift card scam invented by one drug addict guy on Quora, very sophisticated stuff And to make matters more interesting... while indeed Nigerians do a lot of romance scams (fooling a random white woman/man with love), the "Nigerian Prince" scam that got us famous is in fact not done by Nigerians...most of that scam format came from westerners, who just taught it'd be cool to use the name of the prince of some "rich" African country to make money using the middle east format. No real Nigerian would use the word "Nigerian Prince", cos we all know kings and princes are within village/town jurisdictions, not at National level. Which is not surprising, how every single "Nigerian Prince" scammer that has been caught till this date has turned out to be a white American. |

Lol... the popularity of "Nigerian scam" is just classic stereotype fueled by racism. Nigeria makes up a very tiny percentage of the scamming "market". It's very unsophisticated too. While all what most "serious" Nigerian scammers do, is trying to deceive the next dumb gullible person, high school kids in the US are busy hacking twitter accounts of tech CEO just for "fun". Who can beat that?!!!
Abeg forget... In this scamming business, the west is till king, followed by China, then the rest of Asia, before we can now look at Africa/Nigeria. |

Justagirl01: Hey guys, please bear with me for this is going to be lengthy, but at the moment I am at a crossroad. Had to create a new account because of this. Your biggest mistake here is you going on with that marriage. How you go process the divorce now? How did you even think of settling to spend the rest of life in such a toxic relationship? I don’t think you need any advice here. If your decision is not clear yet to you, no one here can advise. Do what you already have in your mind. OR settle down to think deeply about your life from your inner mind and do what’s right. |

samcrispy: Okay thanks for the info I will sure get a court affidavit showing the correct spelling of my names. Also, my name was wrongly arranged too on my university certificate. Will a court affidavit suffice? Different arrangement of names is not that much of a big deal. As long as the surname is where it is supposed to be, exchanging middle/first names hasn’t caused anyone issues before. Just make sure the names are spelt correctly. |

icon8: If a white-looking person says this, we will all be up in arms screaming racism. Alas, “we” seem to be our own worst enemies.
Your post has no basis in law, just so you know. A child born on British soil to a settled parent is an automatic British citizen. As British as it gets. No matter where the parent came from, once they attain settled status, any child born of them afterwards is a British citizen at birth. That’s the law!
I’m not one to play the race card, but this case reeks of racism and islamophobia, and sets a very dangerous precedent like others have rightly suggested. It’s that Jihad-loving girl today but it could be anyone’s child tomorrow, for a far less crime. If the colour of her skin were to be white, she would have been treated differently. For the avoidance of doubt, I denounce her and her association with the so-called Islamic State, but she’s British and should have been brought back home and tried in a British court, under British law, and sent to a British jail if found guilty. Not passed on to her parent’s birth country that she never had any connection to.
By your logic, because the PM’s father is Turkish (although born in the UK), the Johnson family should be sent to Turkey if they commit a crime, because according to you, the father’s father was not born here, they applied to live here blah blah blah, and are therefore second class British citizens. But you wouldn’t say that, would you? Why because they look white to you and the grandfather was clever to have changed his name from Osman Kemal to Wilfred Johnson. If the girl's name were to be Sharon Bellingham instead of Shemima Begum, you all will be singing a different tune.
Some of you are just full of inferiority complex and believe the white skin is superior to yours. As for me, my children are not second class to nobody in this land (and they know that!). I may be second class, I understand that, and that’s fine because I’m a bloody immigrant. But my children and their children? No way! I’ve paid that price for them. Everyone’s parents came from somewhere, and it doesn’t matter how long ago. Even the Queen’s family came from Germany and changed their name to Windsor to sound British somewhere along the line. So was her husband Philip, who was Greek but also changed his name to appear English. But all that does not matter because they all look white to you?
You may gloat all you want about this case, but they are only starting with their discrimination, and the girl’s case was just the litmus test. Like someone said, the day someone wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and decides to revoke your children’s legitimate citizenship because their parents or parents’ parents were immigrants, you will understand what precedent means and why you should be careful what you wish for.
Enough of the rant. Back to work! |

lexee1993: Hello house,
I requested a loan for the proof of funds of my account statement but there was a lien placed on the loan amount, I just decided to print my bank statement to see how it would appear because when I was credited the loan amount, the balance available was the little amount I transferred, the loan amount was not included my available balance. The closing balance in the bank statement shows the total amount but the Effective available balance does not show the loan amount because of the lien. Please for some reason I am worried for visa purposes, they may question why my effective balance is different from the closing amount. I attached a file below and highlighted the two parts. Should I be worried or not?
Thank you. One of the main requirements for POF is that the funds is readily available for your use. So, if the effective available balance on your statement doesn’t show your money, it’s pretty much not useful. |

chrisj2: I ended my response by saying that it is a matter of choice... This is a technicality issue not a direct lie; in the same way as tax evasion is not the same way tax avoidance...
No recourse to public funds or assistance is almost declaring the person as not the same as other citizens - it is their choice to use such language. If you're asked about the occupancy of your home and you choose single occupancy when you're not the only one living there, IT IS A LIE. A direct one. |

gabiomoesu: Good afternoon everyone. I hope you are having a wonderful day. I'm leaving for the UK next week and I would like to know more about the covid testing. I reside in Ibadan so earlier today, I went to UCH to find out. During my inquiry, I was advised to book a test, pay and eventually get tested on 25th so I can receive the result on 26th. Is there anyone that can confirm for me if that is indeed the case? My flight leaves 11pm on 26th and i'm scheduled to arrive Heathrow by 4am.
Another thing, would I still need to do a second covid test when i get to the UK?
Lastly, can someone help me with a list of essential things I should bring along with me to the UK asides pullover, hoodie, gloves and other protective gear to cope with the weather?
cc Mimilyrics , lagosismyhome , Phenmeson , chrisj2 , Aprokodaughter , SamReinvented Go to NCDC site and ensure that the UCH lab you're talking about is listed. If it is, and the workers have confirmed that you'd get your result on time, then there's nothing else to worry about. There are no general essential things to carry to the UK. You can buy almost anything you need over there... so what you choose to carry with you from Nigeria is a personal decision. |

Bam09: That’s what I’m trying to confirm because the person showed me this This is someone’s personalised checklist. First bank is named on it, because that’s the bank that the applicant inputted in his application for proof of funds. When you fill your own form, the bank you enter will also be stated on your own checklist. |

RalphJean: We did this to ourselves. 1. We let tribal, ethnic and religious sentiments to becloud our judgment. 2. We vote in nincompoops into power as a result of (1) above. 3. We flatly refuse to be involved and engaged in policy making (by not participating in politics).
Yes, we did this to ourselves. Plus those who head and work in the consulates, are also normal Nigerians... who would probably still come to ask "who did this to us?" It's a vicious cycle that we choose to be blind to. We keep doing ourselves, thinking someone is doing us. |

1. Change money at Heathrow (I prefer changing at the Asian guys in those shops in town).
2. Buy SIM card at Heathrow (90 out of 100 Pakistani-owned shops will gladly give you one for free, if you buy top up from them. Alright. So Nigeria airport then? Or perhaps one can get better rates in other places in the UK? |

Don't even know why IHS fees is high? They need to tone down these their money making schemes. It makes sense to ask people with visit visas to pay for covid tests. But for students that you've already collected healthcare fees from, doesn't make sense at all. |
