She actually started from the church, precisely the teenage/youth choir. Her total switch after winning the MTN Project Fame shocked her church and her pastor who suggested she went for the audition. Unfortunately, the church she has known all her life heavily influenced her secular music, which is why she struggled.

If any Christian musician is switching, it is best to adopt the folk genre. Simi did and is getting stronger.

There are emergency situations and this is one. I
doubt developed countries would wait 48hrs to act on this. To hell with filing, they should act.
Actually, there are always exceptions, particularly when there is suspected foul play. In this case, there was a one second VN she sent to her friend screaming. That should have been enough to act but trust the NPF. They must have rebuffed the claim even though they heard it and still ask her to return in 48 hours from the time she sent the VN.

But who made the useless law that NPF can only act after 48hrs? Even in the face of overwhelming evidence?

Nigerian youths have done way better than NPF so far. Useless country. If it is to mount roadblocks, they will be fast.
It's the same in developed countries. A missing person report can't be filed until the person has been missing for at least 48 hours.

Real Madrid vs PSG will play the Champions League final. PSG, so far, has made a very loud statement and have made City look like a small club. The match will get more interesting with Guardiola introducing newer legs in the second half but it won't stop PSG from getting at least one goal in the second half.

Manchester City does not have the answer to Mbappe's power, Neymar's skill and Di Maria's flair. Parades, Veratti and Bakker have all owned City so far.

It is called targeting and retargeting advertisement. I am sure you looked up those items on certain websites in Nigeria (say Jiji, Jumia or Konga) before going ahead to buy. What Facebook does is that it drops a tiny file called "cookie" on your device which follows it around and feeds Facebook back about products that interest you. Facebook, in turn, show you those products because those vendors you left their website paid Facebook to advertise their products to people who must have visited their website with certain products in mind. The goal is to lead you back to their website and make a purchase. It is a sophisticated form of personalised advertisement.
Politics › Nnamdi Kanu Is Making The Same Mistakes He Made Years Ago Again by Sanchez01(op): 12:47pm On Apr 23, 2021
At this point, it is an open secret that the most intimidated set of governors are those of the Southeastern extraction. Not only that, the five governors of the region do not mind sacrificing their very own people in order to show the center that they align with it.

Of the governors in the Southern Region, it is safe to conclude that that those of the South East have worked more against their people than FOR them.

Every election year, there is always the news or cries of 'betrayal', 'sellout' and other not-too-nice adjectives to qualify the level of the betrayal of the Igbo people and mostly, members of the IPOB and Kanu have been the ones who have cried the most about this.

It is almost as if Kanu is always playing a script every election year because the narrative is always 'ban', and 'boycott', leading to voter apathy and giving their 'enemy' an easier way to win.

The IPOB, more recently, have won more people to their side than ever. But why Kanu is not taking advantage of the situation in creating a political party that will see people loyal to the IPOB and its idealogies in government. This way, the voice becomes more authoritative, backed by executives and stronger.

Imagine having South Eastern governors who are pro IPOB and a few lawmakers who share their sentiment? This won't give way to the usual 'shoot IPOB members on sight' and calling the hit on IPOB members using the military like the region is a war torn zone.

If the region is sold out to IPOB, the region, regardless of the states will easily align and work for their common goal like pro Jihadists Northern governors.

Kanu has no plan other than to resist the Fulani people violently. I strongly believe he needs to start seeing the bigger picture. Control the politics of the South East and your agitation makes more sense.

On its downside, Kanu might lose absolute control like he has now, which I'm sure he fears. But if he is indeed serious about the agitation of his people, it is high time he went past the radio talk show, boycotting elections and banning IPOB folks from voting.

I guess you don't understand the logic of most Northerners....

Yerima introduced Sharia and he is loved accross North till date,

Once Buhari campaigned to make Sharia a Nigerian Law the whole North started voting him

Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi led a mob of rioters to behead an Ibo man that rubbished a Quran, the whole North started supporting him, the moment he asked them to shun Almajiri and get educated they kicked him out

Pantanmi go the fame he enjoys through extremist veiws, the day Pantanmi openly apologize, North would kick him out... So for now he is the best thing to happen to them

.
I do. Ironically, the country is in a delicate position for Northerners to have the upper hand. There are great calls for secession and the leech, which is the North, needs to behave else all will be lost.

Another thing to add is that the international community has been dragged into the fray, all thanks to Deji Adeyanju and Co. We know terrorism runs deep within the government of Buhari but I know Pantami will be sacrificed to save face.

Not in this age and time. The more the dirt, the greater his fall.

Most Northerners are uneducated and their politicians have weaponised religion as they did wealth and food. It starts and end in the North.
Politics › Re: 'How Pantami Plotted Assassination Of Patrick Yakowa' - Peoples Gazette by Sanchez01(op):
So here's a little backstory; 4 Northern States held a meeting in 2010 in a mosque in Bauchi which Pantami chaired. The states included representatives of Plateau State, Niger, Bauchi and Kaduna. The representatives were from the JNI (Jama'atu Nasril Islam, an umbrella group for the Nigerian Muslim community its headquarter is in the city of Kaduna). That's their definition on paper but these guys operate like a terror organization with sleeper cells across the states they have their presence in.

It was during this meeting that Pantami and co claimed that Christianity was fast growing in the North and they need to nip it in the bud. First, by killing the then governor of Kaduna who was a Christian. Two years later after the meeting, Late Governor Patrick Yakowa died in a strange helicopter crash. Today, el Rufai has fixed his gaze on Southern Kaduna, a dominantly Christian community that has been battered over and over again by suspected Fulani terror groups. No group has been arrested and not one person has been arrested. As a matter of fact, Southern Kaduna folks have repeatedly claimed soldiers and Herdsmen attack them at the same time.

The minute of that meeting is a scary one because its focus was how to kill for the sake of allah and whatever prophet they hold dear. I am currently summarizing the entire minute but it is a scary one so far. Like Nigeria is in trouble as it is.

PS: Just sat down to muse over so many things. Yakowa died by a helicopter crash. His copter burst into flames before plunging into a creek. Taraba State ex-governor also died of a helicopter crash. Although, 'investigations' indicted him for not being licensed. However, that was not his first time flying. And then Osinbajo, a Christian who has been a thorn in the flesh of the cabals, particularly since the time Buhari left for treatment in the UK, survived a helicopter crash in 2019, around the time he and Buhari were campaigning for a second term. Piece the puzzle.

Document shows how Pantami plotted assassination of former Kaduna Governor Patrick Yakowa - Peoples Gazette

A document has been uncovered which showed how President Muhammadu Buhari’s communication minister Isa Pantami and other Muslim leaders plotted to assassinate former Kaduna State Governor Patrick Yakowa. It was unclear whether the conclusion of the Muslim leaders was responsible for the helicopter crash that killed Mr Yakowa, and the minister did not immediately return a request seeking comments from Peoples Gazette on Wednesday night.

https://i1.wp.com/peoplesgazette.com/wp-content/uploads/Document-1.png?resize=768%2C1536&ssl=1

Mr Yakowa was the first Christian governor of Kaduna, which is divided between Muslim and Christians, although with a mostly Muslim population.

Mr Pantami chaired the July 13, 2010, meeting of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), a foremost Isla mic body led by Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar, where it was agreed that Mr Yakowa and his family must be eliminated because he was a Christian leader leading a state in the Muslim-dominated North.

“We must either use the security or other means to eliminate the governor, his family and all those they perceive as supporting him,” Mr Pantami and other leaders said in their communique adopted at the meeting held at Bauchi Central Mosque.

The meeting complained that Mr Yakowa was making moves to contest for governor in 2011 and he had the support of former President Goodluck Jonathan, a fellow Christian.

Mr Yakowa became governor in 2010 when Mr Jonathan tapped Namadi Sambo, then Kaduna governor, as his vice-president.

Mr Yakowa contested in 2011 and won a substantive four-year term. He was killed in a helicopter crash barely a year later in 2012, alongside former national security adviser Owoeye Patrick Azazi. The event had long been suspected to be more than just an accident, and investigation into what happened was never concluded or made public.

The minister did not immediately return a request seeking comments about the 2010 meeting.

Document about the meeting surfaced as Mr Pantami came under pressure to step down from office after The Gazette uncovered details of his past inflammatory statements. The minister said he was always happy about the massacre of unbelievers.

He also said Osama Bin Laden was a better Muslim than himself and wished Al Qaeda and the Taliban success in their terrorism.

Politics › US Gathering Information On Pantami, May Place Him On No-fly Zone – Ex-dss Dir by Sanchez01(op): 7:32pm On Apr 21, 2021
A former Assistant Director with the Department of State Services, Dennis Amachree, has said the secret police informed the Nigerian government and the National Assembly of the past radical pro-Taliban views of embattled Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, before his confirmation as minister in 2019.

Amachree spoke on PUNCH Online interview programme, The Roundtable, on Wednesday.

He, however, said the minister must have been confirmed by the National Assembly due to a lot of factors, including federal character balancing.

Pantami, a former director-general with the National Information Technology Development Agency, is the only member of the Federal Executive Council from Gombe State.

Many Nigerians have called for the sacking or resignation of Pantami after some comments he made some years ago came into light, which support Islamic extremism.

"We are all happy whenever unbelievers are killed,” Pantami once said as an Islamic scholar and cleric.

He also hailed Osama Bin Laden, who orchestrated the terrorist attacks on United States soil on September 11, 2001, saying the terrorist "is a better Muslim than myself."

Pantami once also condemned Muslims who took up government positions, saying he would never join politics or take up a role in government.

Like many Nigerians, the ex-DSS director also called for the resignation of the embattled minister.

According to him, the Department of State Services (DSS) has information on all individuals of interest, adding that the minister’s past extremist views were communicated to the Federal Government and the legislature.

Amachree said, “There is no information that escapes the DSS, we have all of it, all. When I was working there, we keep a catalogue of anybody of interest that comes up to the limelight in this country.

“During the vetting process for anybody to be appointed a minister or commissioner or anything, your name is sent to the State Security Service (SSS) for vetting. They check your background up to the extent of your grandmother. They check your schools up to the extent of your primary school. And of course, they keep a tab on you online and offline. We get a lot from open source intelligence and I can tell you that in Pantami’s case, we have it.

“But there is a political angle to it. When somebody is being appointed, if the security agencies see that there is something wrong with his name, they will send it to the appointing agency. The appointing agency will now decide amongst other variables either religious variable, federal character balancing variable, or political variable and say that, ‘Oh, yes, we know that this guy has this and that but let’s appoint him.

“So, the political decision is not taken by the SSS. Even when you go to the Senate for confirmation, there is party by party and you can see that there are some political candidates that the opposition party will say that this one will not be appointed but because he belongs to that party, they will appoint him. So, these are political and federal balancing where they will say that there is nobody from this place that has been appointed, so let’s appoint him.”

The ex-DSS director added that the US was gathering information on Pantami.

Amachree said, “He (Pantami) has just submitted his name into US database. The cataloguing of people is not automatic, it comes in drips and drops. Now, people are talking about him and that has come to the attention of the United States Embassy in Nigeria already. Now, they will do a deeper dive into his background. They will catalogue him and now they will start watching him and if it comes to a very critical level, they will place him on a no-fly zone.”

Considering it took you a while to decide on the topic, I'd understand why I agree with everything you have written aside the topic itself. I personally feel "peace of mind" is a spec required for marriage and one of the most important spec at that. It baffles me when I see both men and women focusing on physical appearances when choosing a life partner. I'd go for a man that looks like a monkey if my happiness lies therein. grin grin grin.

I want a man whose love for me, and my love for him is unrivaled. If this is obtained, then cheating cannot even be in the equation. Because that cheating of a thing scares the hell outta me.

I want a man with a conscience. This eradicates a whole lot of heartaches in marriage.

I want a man full of life and with a vision. A man that takes charge. A man that knows he is a man and acts accordingly.

I want a man that loves kids and knows how to handle kids or is willing to learn. So I'll be rest assured that my children will not have daddy issues.

I want a man that loves sex and love to explore and still sees sex as sacred. All these stories of philandering men is as a result of the kind of societal values obtainable these days. People now see sex as an achievement, as a tender, as a reward, as punishment, name it. Most people have lost the true essence of sex as an act of love. Most people have not even experienced love in sex.

I could go on and on about my ideal specs. Yes, one can't find all specs in one man. You just have to apply opportunity cost and know which is non negotiable. For me, physical appearances is just a plus, definitely not the ultimate. I just pray we all get it right at the end of the day.

Beautiful write up once again.
Your expectations are beautiful! I must admit you and Klass99 echoed my thoughts better.

I say "AMEN" to your last sentence. Happy weekend! grin

There were rumours of domestic violence. It was alleged that she pushed Davido off the staircase causing him to sprain his legs. Personally, I feel he is just tired of her. She has given birth already and it doesn't make her any special than the other baby mamas.

She was foolish enough to put an end to her education because of a man and even failed to leverage on his popularity to secure herself. She should live with the consequences of her foolishness.

People become case studies and part of the statistics when the choose specs over peace of mind. Of course they will tell you "I can't marry someone I'm not attracted to", but they forget that specs alone cannot sustain a marriage. That face will wrinkle, the ass will become wobbly, the nacks will definitely reduce overtime, but you see that intangible aspect of them that will not be ravaged by the passage of time? That is what will keep the marriage going when all else becomes flabby and wrinkled.

Why do people always have this mindset that you must choose between two evils. Like choosing between a caring poor man and an arrogant rich man, a beautiful arrogant girl and a well behaved ugly girl. Why can't the options be two beautiful well behaved ladies or two wealthy good-looking well trained gentlemen?... Why must the good choice always have an unpalatable flaw?
I strongly believe that specs and peace of mind can be found in one person, I shouldn't have to give up one for the other. There re women with both qualities and more... Find them.
You miss the point. A spec can be one's peace of mind but what are the odds?

The message here is to not prioritise some shallow mindset which in itself is temporal. That someone will be one's peace of mind does not necessarily translate to being physically ugly or unattractive. Besides, beauty is subjective, so what gives?

Well behaved isn't even enough to stand as a criteria, just as being wealthy is enough. These are EXTRAS.

Nowhere in my post suggested or say it is practically about the opposite of the spec, attraction wise. However, putting those temporal things first and making them the basis for choosing a lifelong partner could be disastrous.

Klass99:
Your post had me smiling from ear to ear. I like your outlook on life but what do you mean by public commitment?
Okay, so I have come to realize that I am proud but in an unconventional way. In a relationship, I like to show the other person off not to spite or make people feel uncomfortable but to put a caveat on myself and subtly tell off 'distractions' that might sell the idea of cheating to me at some point. A public show for me is me saying 'there is someone in the picture and the fact that you know should tell you I mean it'. This is not in any way related to social media relationship though. That one I can't stomach.

I needed that self awareness and to discover myself before getting married. Marrying @ 22 just didn't feel right to me, thankfully I had (and still have) enlightened parents who didn't push or force the issue of marriage on any of their kids.

Now that I'm older, more self aware and I think independently (I've always had a mind of own and was a non-conformist as far back as secondary school & university anyway cheesy) I know that;
You sure have amazing parents. Our very own society has unconsciously embedded the idea of early marriage into us that a 25-year old lady is already depressed for being unmarried. It is a lifetime commitment and I don't think early marriage means much. The most important thing is ending up with someone who makes life a bliss rather than a nightmare.

1. I want to love and be loved.

2. I'm not crazy about having kids of my own. The thought of it exhausts me, more than it excites.

3. I want a man who understands that even though we may be married, we do not lose ourselves or our individuality.

On point 3, the lyrics from one of Neyo's says songs comes to mind - I'm a movement all by myself but we are a force when we are together.

4. I want and love companionship, good and authentic companionship with lots of quality time with my man, like just cuddling him in front of the TV, while we watch our favourite programs and me running my hands over his bare chest, occasionally massaging his neck and shoulders. I don't think you love love more than me o grin especially when the feeling is mutual.

5. I want a married life experience where he'll be my baby and I'll be his. We will be two adults just taking care of each other and doing the good we can in our community and to the people in our lives and space (whether we know them personally or not)
embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed

I believe one of the best things to happen to us as humans is knowing we love someone who loves us. It simplifies the 'stress' in relationships if at all there are any.

You that your number 3... It is the ultimate goal of any relationship, to begin with. Being with someone and still being you rather than standing on your backfoot every time? It's bliss!

Your number 4 got me staring and clueless! grin grin grin grin

Younger me may have gotten married simply because;

1. My suitor was good looking, he wanted it and was mounting the pressure like kilode?

2. The so called society expected it of me as a woman and......

3. Who knows I may have been one of your case studies today if not divorced sef grin

Older me has the presence of mind to make well thought out decisions on the basis of my self awareness. Decisions that help rather than hurt me, in the short or long term.

I'm good. I hope you are too.
grin grin grin grin

In all sincerity, marriage in itself isn't a goal. Anyone can get married, I'm sure, but staying married? That's the goal! I am of the opinion that it is better to remain single and enjoy life rather than tag along in a toxic or chaotic home. Arguments and fight drain me very fast.

Ironically, most of the truly happy marriages I see upclose of that of older people. People who clown with themselves and play like they are buddies. You need to see their arguments or when they are driving. It's like attending a comedy show. True, every union is unique and so should the approach be. If you juxtapose these older marriages with couples in marriages of lesser than 5 years seeking to divorce 'for their mental health', you can't help but wonder whether or not what they saw has disappeared or that they didn't consider their mental health before ending up with their partners.

It's wild with today's marriages.

Sanchez, my Bible has no Psalms 123:7

I agree that the idea of having a "fixed" spec is problematic. It has a way of creating a psychological turn-off towards people who don't fit into those specifications.

The consequence usually is that;

1. We miss out on relationships that may have been much more fulfilling.

2. It causes us to tolerate excesses in those so-called "specs." Excesses that oftentimes dent or completely ruin the relationship in the long run.
123:7, sorry about that. grin

I enjoyed reading your case studies, it was entertaining and educating. Case 1 reminds me of a nairalander's story (can't remember her username now)

I am glad I didn't do that at the time but chose to pursue the desires in my heart, when one suitor wanted us to get married so badly at my 22 years. I was young and naive, I'm not sure how we would have fared but I like the older me better than the younger me.
Lol. grin

I have some pretty decent relationship experience but I am not married at the moment. I still fancy picking my bags and finding myself in a state or place I have never been in the name of vacation. I know all of these will reduce or disappear the moment I get married since the purpose is primarily for leisure and not business. I am overly considerate in a way that it is annoying but God help me here.

I love love and life at the same time and the idea of staying this way is me starting over and over again, particularly when I thought all was good and then find out it isn't. It isn't difficult hitting the reset button when it doesn't work out and I still invest the same amount of energy as I would with all.

Regardless, I already have my reasons and they are:

1. To signify a life-long commitment (I have always been given to the 'One man, one woman' theory and the concept of side-chicking isn't appealing to me).
2. For love (a man is demisexual and a hopeless romantic. So I figure this for me, takes centre stage than anything).
3. Public commitment.

Lol... Perhaps you would have fared well, perhaps not. I hear some people say they are capable of loving someone they've never been attracted to if they get married to them, so it might have happened. But yeah, it is also better to have some sort of awakening and self-awareness before venturing into a lifetime commitment.

Trust you are good though? smiley

Thanks. All these slangs are way too many.
Truth is, this particular slang is one of the oldest around.
