I believe the the government is aware of that, more so the government had since explained how the new identity card will look like as well as other things that it can be used for which includes transaction etc. Nevertheless, you are not compelled yet to transact only with government issued ID/credit card so why the noise?
Ohh , I see you talking about Jonathan, now I understand your pain but get well soon,
government is a continuous thing, Jonathan met things at certain stage, contributed his part and move on and we re not stopping there.
Don't be surprised, the Jonathan you are crying for already has his premium national ID card loaded with cash.
And I thought you were sensible enough to be engaged. You are claiming the government intends to make the National ID card a financial one, accepted but they didn't partner with with any payment processor, not even with the CBN and local banks but you want to sell the narrative peddled among you BMC lots to me? Seriously?

How do you claim to make a card financial yet ask citizens to download an e-copy online and print on paper then laminate? Every debit or credit card is powered by either a payment processor or a financial institution. WHEN DID THE NIMC BECOME ONE TO SELL CREDITS??

If you are incapable of critical thinking, couldn't you just pretend for a minute to be knowledgeable?

Sanchez01,

I have not gotten an NIN, and will not ever get one willfully, except I am coerced to do so. Because I saw these coming.

Know the following and be prepared. Nigerians, including you, are a commodity. Your data was obtained for the sole purpose of sales and profiteering. Remember, it is not just your biodata that was taken, your face and finger prints are digital copies of your entity, hence the need for an IDentity to be in a Database.
Unfortunately, I agree with you albeit to an extent. I got mine in 2012. As a techie, I don't have too much worries about what the government can do with our data. Buhari is too predictable and his won't go beyond trace and arrest. The present government is a congregation of walking relics with no tiny understanding of how the new media and technology works. It doesn't bother me.

I think you are yet to understand that aspect of the credit.
The card is supposed to work like a credit card but you have to load it with cash.
The 30 card is like saying the federal government has already credit your card with 3,000 naira because each credit equal 100 naira.
Why would I need a government credit card when I have 2 different credit cards and about 5 debit cards in my wallet? How does that of the government benefit me differently from my credit cards?

Plus note, the language used on the portal is "subscription". This means it is converted to a token which in this form is a "credit". If it indeed works like a credit card, how come the government is asking people to go ahead to print themselves and laminate?

If it was to function like a credit card, the government is under equipped and uninnovative to come up with a global payment systems other than MasterCard and Visa. Jonathan partnered with them during his time until these set of clowns lies their way to power.

I understand the dynamics of credit cards even from a mile. This is not even close.

Putting oil price per barrel into consideration, have you ever wondered how FG intends to pay up all these loans that the have stacked up?
The FG is stupid. It has no plan for the Nigerian people. If it is struggling to stay run the operations of the country, why not cut cost? Was it not the same Buhari during his desperate days who claimed we had too many Presidential fleets and that they were too expensive to maintain? N7 billion was budgeted under the same Buhari for the fleets in 2020 and more than ever, his family has abused the fleets compared to the other 3 presidents in the 4th Republic.

1. A side of the legislature should go. It is irrelevant.
2. Sell some off some of the Presidential fleets to save cost.
3. Put an end to the giveaways they do in the name of COVID stimulus and relief packages through NISRAL. If they make the economy viable enough, you won't need to give people fish.

But guess what, none of these matters to a man whose only final wish is to live lavish with a country's resources and empower the 4th deadliest terrorist group in the world.

This would have been good if it came from the NHIS. It would make a whole lot of sense to purchase health packs that can cover dependents, mostly family members, but no, an ORDINARY IDENTITY COMMISSION that is tasked with handling citizens' identities and providing FREE NATIONAL ID cards is creating subscription packs and class-oriented ID cards. The other day, they need N25b to buy servers in order to enrol 43 million Nigerians.

The foolishness of this very government is why history should be resuscitated and taught in Nigerian schools. We shouldn't forget this in a hurry.

I saw this thread (https://www.nairaland.com/6641235/how-print-improved-nin-slip) last night and I wondered why the government can't be consistent for once. It is not just about getting Nigerians to link their NIN to their SIMs now but something else. I logged on to the portal (https://myportal.nimc.gov.ng/) this morning and saw some ridiculous things that only the Nigerian government is capable of attempting.

First, I was greeted with the picture below on the portal and I wondered why a National Commission tasked with regulating identity issues give me CREDITS (I have 30, according to my dashboard). Why would I need to purchase a SUBSCRIPTION from a government's portal; not just anyone but an IDENTITY COMMISSION PORTALhuh

https://petsquo.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1.png

As if that wasn't enough, I clicked through the subscription link only to find ridiculous tiers of subscriptions; from N100 to N1,000,000, all promising various degrees of credits. Is the government planning on charging Nigerians based on how their NIN QR codes or details are queried during verifications in banks, airports and in other places, particularly government establishmentshuh Why am I given 30 CREDITS if it doesn't matter or mean anything?

https://petsquo.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/2.png

Not only that, but I also found out that there is a "PREMIUM NIN SLIP" section other than the "IMPROVED NIN SLIP". Although the "PREMIUM NIN SLIP" is currently unavailable, I am wondering why there is a class-play in the NIN slip.

https://petsquo.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/3.png

The IMPROVED NIN costs N400 to download. However, I am somewhat convinced of what will likely play out.

1. The NIMC will discard the current slips and will most likely ask banks and other places where the ID is required to only honour the "IMPROVED NIN" or "PREMIUM NIN".
2. This will compel people to download for N400.
3. Say 50 million Nigerians pay N400 each to download the "IMPROVED NIN", this means the NIMC will be making N20 billion Naira from that alone. The number is a worst-case scenario since I anticipate that it will be mandated

MY QUESTIONS

1. Why is an identity commission bent on making money through the provision of NATIONAL IDs?
2. What is the purpose of the subscriptions its portal?
3. Why do Nigerians need NIMC CREDITS and why do we need to buy?
4. Why is there a PREMIUM NIN SLIPhuh
5. Why do I need to pay N400 for a virtual card I will have to print and laminate on my ownhuh
6. Isn't it the duty of the Commission to provide Nigerians with FREE National IDs?
7. Who approved of this useless ideahuh
8. Why do I have DEPENDENTS on my portal; implying I could share my subscriptions with themhuh
9. Are the law-making arms of government aware of this daylight Oyenusi stunt? (Not like they are useful anyways but I am not sure there was any discussion on NIMC creating a money-making portal in the legislature.)
10. What is the endgame of government; to sap Nigerians further through insane anti-people policies as always and further create a class divide through the ID cards we carry around?

Hmmmm. This kind of posts will eventually be used against Nairaland. No matter what you do, remember that you have a social and legal obligation to clean your platform of this kind of hate speech. This 'new' nairaland has turned to a breeding ground for youths who hide behind the anonymity you created here to spread hate. It's your job to stop them before government suspends Nairaland. This is not freedom of expression, it is not exercising freedom of expression when you make hate speech and then hide your identity to temporarily avoid being held to account for the consequences of spreading hate. This issue of Nairaland being used to spread hate and bigotry will be presented as a serious case of urgent public importance.
I don't understand. You people want to ban Nairaland too because we have an idiot and an ethnic jingoist as a president?

Remember you sell here too, so your using your alt account to try to de-market a fellow seller like yourself, on the same platform, is really very low of you. No be you dem accuse of short changing a customer months ago, and instead of being sorry, you were just arguing upanddown, speaking big and long grammar for days on end.

By the way, I have sold to sooo many people here. I've never had a cause to be rude to ANY of them; never will. My customers would bear me witness that I'm the model seller in customer relations. Money is not everything o.

And Yeah, it's still Monday early moh-moh....now back to business cool cool
I don't know if the person deliberately asked that question just to have you triggered or something but your response was way overboard.

As a seller, bear in mind that different people will come at you and even ask the stupidest of questions. The endgame for you is to sell your items. A simple "I don't know" should have sufficed rather than that outburst.

If anyone is setting you up deliberately or otherwise, don't take the bait no matter what. As a seller, you should naturally be able to entertain questions, which isn't actually the problem. You can choose to ignore them but how you do that is very, very important.

I disagree with this sha.

We don't need to be a feminist to treat a woman or a man right.
Nowhere I said this. Being human is enough to make us see a woman for what she truly is and represents.

However, I restate that WE SHOULD ALL BE FEMINISTS because not being one is why some of us do not acknowledge that a woman has not given birth just because she has just female children and not a single son.

Unfortunately, this prevalent in Nigeria and Africa.

Boy. Girl.
Man. Woman.
Male. Female.
Moderate Red Pillism. Moderate Feminism.
Extreme Red Pillism. Extreme Feminism.

That's just how it is. The only edge feminism has is, it's more acceptable because it started out good.
I think I still see this comparison as a basis for genderism. Feminism originally started out good as you rightly noted and still remains so. Chimamanda is a Nigerian, married yet she's a feminist. That should tell us something. Most females who take on feminism today do so after going through some horrible situation in the hands of a man. That's just a masked misandry. Feminist coalition; Moe, Kiki Mordi, Ulxma, etc are nothing but misandrists championing feminism in Nigeria, particularly on Twitter.

However, they are not the standard for feminism in the first place. I am liberal yet believe in Meritocracy, which is why I don't believe in some of the equal rights campaigns of feminists, particularly as it pertains to workplaces. If you qualify for a role, you should get it, irrespective of your gender. Simple. But protesting or creating awareness so that power will be dropped on your laps is nonsensical to me.

In the home, I think men should be human and sensible enough not to leave home chores to their wife in the name of being a man.

However, rape, bodyshaming, slut shaming and heaping societal pressures on women just because they are women are the main focus of fourth wave feminism, which I greatly align with.

Red Pillism might have its origin from Neo's Red Pill in The Matrix. What it represents isn't even close to why feminism started out.

I disagree. As a student of literature, I can boldy state that Buchi Emecheta championed feminism, however from a subtle viewpoint. Although she said it severally that she isn't a feminist but one who works towards the "liberalisation" of women. That's just semantics if you ask me.

Interestingly, all her works points and supports third wave feminism.

Red pillism is cruise. Only funny people take it to heart.

Same can be said of feminism, I hope your feminists friends will agree.

There is a form of truth in every philosophy though.
Maybe in Nigeria but it is a big deal in the US. There's a dedicated section for it on Reddit and over 200,000 topics on Red Pill are in the section.

Feminism borne out of misandry, for me, is no feminism but similar to some males masking their women hate behind Red Pilling.

Ideally, we should all be feminists. The major problem with champions of this cause is that they don't know which type of feminism they practice. I align with the philosophy of fourth wave feminism.

My joy is that all their rants start and end online, compared their seniors in civilised countries who started the movement. I found the RedPpill philosophy interesting at some point that I got to read about what it truly means and the materials ended up confirming my fears; these guys are staunch misogynists and the "movement" is rooted in male supremacy. A dangerous one! The most extreme Red Pillers even believe rejection by a female is an act of test and that all women love to be raped: https://www.newstatesman.com/science-tech/internet/2017/02/reddit-the-red-pill-interview-how-misogyny-spreads-online

Be here doing enlightened men. My professor uncle is now homeless in UK because his wife took everything from him. Before you started your "enlightenment", he had been a professor at Uniport before relocating to UK. A known medical doctor in US from Orlu in my state had his medical license suspended because his wife lied that he abused her. His license was recently reinstated after the daughter of Jezebel confided in her friend that she lied not knowing that her friend recorded her call and would later betray her because they were fighting over a manfriend. Meanwhile the doctor had suffered for almost 3years. Be there doing "enlightened man" and getting accolades from daughters of Jezebel in this thread until you get entangled with them and they destroy you. Most of them ranting here are either expired evening newspapers or frustrated housewives that married old men because of money. Flee from them and their praises.
All these are stories. Your professor uncle married a terrible woman.

Just because your uncle or Nigerian men with African mindsets are losing or getting exploited abroad does not make ALL WOMEN horrible. There will always be terrible ones. It is the same with men.

The koko is to pray that you end up with a good woman that will love you effortlessly. Heck, if SOME OF THESE MEN abroad treated their wives as humans, partners or mates and not some prized trophies, perhaps they won't lose their life's work.

I don't know why Nigerian men like to assume that divorced women desire marriage. In many cases they truly dont want to remarry because of the trauma they went through in their first marriage.
Even some single women are only looking for marriage because of societal pressure and not because they cannot survive without it.

I guess its very sweet and boosts their self esteem to tell themselves that females are craving marriage to men and are desperate to be with them.
Not sure I want to be a part of gender wars but please, learn to sell your feminism or make points without having to generalise, particularly when it pertains to Nigerian men. We have enlightened, modern Nigerian men who do not align with societal views on women, divorce, singleness and happiness.

I won't and can't be the one to guarantee her a "perfect, single life". She has to do that herself. If I understand your deduction perfectly, are you implying her happiness is hinged to a man or that she doesn't stand a chance of getting married to a "perfect man" (whatever this means)?

Firstly, there is no such thing as a perfect man. We all have our demons, though some subtle than others. She is only 27 and has just 2 kids, obviously educated, which means she has a very good chance of finding love in the right person.

Secondly, what we think gives us happiness is nothing but illusion. Happiness is what we call anything we are contented with. If she decides to find that in her kids, then she's game. If she seeks that in a man, she will only need to position herself.

Exiting in most situations is always the first step in the right direction. How you create and find your happiness lies with you.

She is still young even though she has two kids. Na born she born, she no kill person.

In the case of Jonathan, existing was the first step but most of the country made a terrible choice. Making a terrible choice after exiting is the disaster and not leaving. Peace of mind is expensive and must be protected at all cost.

I took lotta shots, emotionally, and should be expected to respond in equal capacity, physically, even if the society won't see all the backdoor abuses.

It is good she brought it here. I will prepare a civil response maybe later in the day. She will tell the larger end of the story. Thanks
If something changed along the way, it could have been resolved either amicably or through separation. Choosing to physically and verbally abuse a woman you consider to be your wife is an animalistic thing to do.

It doesn't matter how long ago the happiness and 'enjoyment' was. The truth is everyone would want out when happiness becomes elusive.

Preparing a civil or robust response will only serve as food to people like me who are bored and want this. In the end, it is left to you, a man who supposedly rules his home with an iron fist and a woman whom you are never married to but want out of whatever it is you have together.

I actually don't like divorce because I am family oriented but your situation is unique. Heaven knows hanging around him might be your end. Already, your kids are picking the horrible things going on and it is horrible as it might negatively impact them and their psyche.

Your first duty is to you, your wellbeing and health. The same kids you want to remain in the slavery for are being fed the wrong messages right now. The home is toxic and I am particularly concerned about you and the kids.

If you don't have enough money to move to another state. Then get the police involved ASAP, the same who handled his previous cases. Explain to them and tell them you are scared for your life. Then move to another side of your environment if you don't plan on changing jobs.

Please note that it is better being alone than being with someone who pummels you because he thinks it is a cool thing to do.

About your kids not growing up under their father, pick yourself up, work on your outlook and focus on the positive side of life. A good man who wouldn't mind where you are coming from might look your way. You are still quite young and there's a whole life ahead of you.
