Yes, I believe it. Same applied in my secondary school. To be honest, it was an embarrassment speaking any language that was not English. The Hausa students who did so were seriously looked down on.

Cos then it's like saying Ibadan is Oyo or Akure is Ondo.
Lagos as a state is too small so travelling from place to place is like strolling.

Lagos city is the Lagos island and it is too small to be labelled the largest city in Nigeria as Sugabelly stated.

Ikeja is PART of the city in Lagos, so is Lagos Island, Victoria-Island, Ikoyi, Lagos Mainland, Surulere, Mushin, Shomolu, etc. They are cities and all form a part of the city of Lagos.

You may profer the argument that places like Ikorodu, Epe, Badagry etc are not cities but are part of Lagos. However, most of Lagos (local government areas etc) is a city and thus the state doubles as a city.

I think they (we) should not be allowed to vote. First of all, for a grossly corrupt country like Nigeria, this will open the floodgates for politicians to inflate/baloon the number of voters (and please do not go on about how this has been done elsewhere. Transparency seems anathema to Nigeria). Secondly, I feel if you do not pay tax to the Nigerian government, you should not take advantage of those rights.

I think that the clue lies in the word "myth" i.e. it is almost (or just about) impossible to prove.

Depends on shade, but maybe black. Green is my mum's fav colour but I personally think it is an awful colour (a few shades are not so bad, but generallt, it is a no no for me).

I actually think they do appreciate it. But if they don't, it's because it is overrated.

Na wah for hypocrisy in this back to front country. Bigots are mouthing off about homosexuality when in the very same article, female prostitution was mentioned time and again. But as usual, that one can be swept under the carpet. No one is as outraged about the fact that the women are being exploited/corrupted/abused etc by men (especially rich highly placed members of the society). Oh no, that is of no real importance. . . afterall although it is immoral (or a sin or moral bankruptcy etc.), that is very acceptable as it involves a man shagging the brains out of a woman. bleeping pathetic.

I go with the both languages view. In fact, I think that from infancy a child should be taught as many languages as possible. If for the sake of argument, someone said that only one language should be picked, then, I'll definitely go for English over the traditional language, especially in this day of the world fast becoming a global village. One would not want one's child to be handicapped on an international level, particularly when the child would not be able to communicate in a different part of his/her own country talk much less of other parts of the world. Once the traditional language becomes an international Lingua Franca, then a convincing argument can be made for relying solely (or mainly) on such language.

Yes I was "that" ignorant. I was 10 and every single one of my primary school friends travelled on summer holidays. It was one of those things.

Don't know what you are alluding to, but 419 was not in operation back then (though there were other dishonest methods of making money I'll agree). However, everyone's (my mates and mine) parents worked hard and had good jobs. Back then I knew no one who's father was a "business man" (everyone I knew had parent's who had specific respected jobs/ job titles. Moreover, like my parents most of my friend's parents had lived and/or schooled in the UK back in the old days, and to be honest, you did not need a visa and the tickets were not that expensive (I recall that up until March 1992, a return ticket to London was N8,000.00 and this jumped to roughly one hundred thousand in April (or maybe May) of the same year. So back to your statement, there were many people who worked hard honestly and lived a good life too (and they owe no one an apology for having a good life and enjoying the fruits of their labour).

This is usually known as the "H-Factor" problem and it has absolutely nothing to do with living in Lagos. It is a problem that is commonly found amongst [quite a number of "Yoruba" people. You will hardly (if ever) see Igbo people or Hausa people with the problem (e.g. Saying "ot" instead of "hot" (i.e. the H-Minus) Factor, or saying "heveryone" instead of "everyone" (i.e. the H-Plus factor)). Generally, as a whole, people who were brought up in Lagos usually have better accents than their relatives in other towns or villages (and from my experience this broadly applies to the Igbos, Yorubas, Calabar, and even the Hausas. I must however say that my observations is mainly with regards to the educated class o).

The David Beckham guy is just too freaking hot (and even I have always said and will always say that). Like fine wine, he gets better with age. I just do not like how he has defaced mega parts of his body with tattoos now. The old ones (even including the huge back cross was okay, the whole arm thing has taken it into the uncool gothic sphere). God knows how to put checks and balances on individuals, just so the guy does not get carried away, he was dashed a particularly crap voice. Whenever he opens his mouth, I tend to say "Just shut up and look pretty". LOL. He is a real grounded guy, no pretensions like the wife and very down to earth.
