In that piece, there was No Denzel Washington who has been together with his wife (Pauletta Pearson) since 1977 and has been married to her since 1983. At 32 years, they have one of the longest Hollyoowd relationships and I wonder why they were not included (Might it be the black thing again? . . . Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I wonder. undecided).

Becomrrich:
my friend when you talk of law in nigeria, I can get up to 10 people that I am related to that will speak of law even my father inlaw is a well know nigeria lawyer. One of them is Gani fawehinmi. So no talk of law for myside
ROFLMAO. . . You have 10 lawyers in your family and you are coming up with is trash? What kind of lawyers are they? Charge and Bail? If you even have ONE lawyer that you spoke to, I am sure you won't come up with this nonsense.

Becomrrich:
I have read the 1999 constitution 6 times so far. and compare to the other consitution. It is a piece of rubbish. It is not acceptable to we southerner. It makes us permanent slave to northerners.
You have read the constitution six times, yet you did not know that the constitution expressly states that the LAnd Use Act could be amended.  What part of the constitution makes the southerners perpetual slaves to the northerners? (What chapter and what section(s)?).

By the way, Abeg please tell me which "law" did you say provides that Nigerian LAw can be transferred to the Benin Republic?

Becomrrich:
On transfer of land to benin republic, fashola can do what ever if feel he want with the land  . if he feel he want the land in benin republic he can. Even the 1999 consititution does not define the geography location of nigeria. And nigeria law only gives abuja to the federal govt.

Look fashola or akala or bukola saraki  can take back land from the federal republic of nigeria. and it is legal.  Do you people write the constitution.

get that into your head fashola or any governor can give what entrust to him to republic of benin. But believe this 1999 constitution is invalid.
I am astounded at this portion of your argument. A state governor CAN NOT take "back" land belonging to the Federal Government (or its agencies), because such land never belonged to the state in the first place and the Land Use Act (LUA) expressly states so (please go and read the LUA, it is a short piece of legislation and should not take you long). Moreover, contrary to what you have stated, a governor CAN NOT do whatever he likes to the land and can most definitely NOT transfer the land to Benin Republic. You should run these your views past those 10 lawyers you say you have in your family. I am sure that they should be able to enlighten you a bit and disabuse your mind about all these your preposterous views. Ask them to run you through the gamut of case law on the Land Use Act - and believe me, there are plenty cases on the LUA (which though you seem to like it so much, I must inform you is incidentally probably one of the most vilified laws in Nigeria - if not singularly the most vilified law. In my opinion, it is a crap piece of legislation which should have been expunged from the statute books long ago or at the very least, heavily amended).

I could barely make head or tail of the rest of your post, so I cannot address that bit. But seriously, do desist spurting jargons which are completely false.

Frustration can lead some people to anything.

never mind, just keep trying (though you might never get there).

You might actually be able to attract enough attention and net yourselves partners from on here. keep on trucking
Since your vocabulary is restricted to frustration and getting or retaining a partner, we GET IT! Believe me, we get the message that frustration is a big part of your life. We also get the message that you are obsessed with women and their partners, and I feel it necessary to inform you (just in case no one has ever done so) that YOU NEED TO SEE A SHRINK. All these feelings of inferiority and inadequacy that you have must suck and though nobody likes you, we surely do not want you jumping down a well or doing something just as drastic to end your misery. Seek help and all your misery may become a thing of the past.  embarassed undecided LOL.

Hmm, omode ko mo oogun, oun pee ni efo. "A child who can not identify herbs, call it vegetable". Am surprised that many people are pretending that things like this don't happen in real life, in Nigeria. Famous warriors in Yorubaland had turned into several things to avoid dangers. You can still come closer in history to see notable politicians who escaped dangers by turning to various things. they stilll do today. Adelakun was a powerful politician / juju man in Ibadan, go and read about him.

Have you people not heard of people vomiting or passing feaces containing live tortoise, frogs or other creeping creatures, once they get delivered? Forget your western ideas and face reality. The evil world is capable of doing anything. Would you deny that witches and wizards turn to birds? If they do, why is it difficult to believe that a man will turn into a ram to escape justice.

If the policeman had been too cautious to arrest the ram and left it, wouldnt the ram have turned to a man once the accusers had left? While i am not saying that this particular incident is true or false, yet i want to tell you doubting thomases to belive in the existence of juju and it's potency. Except you are truly covered, you would just be deceiving yourself and operating under the manipulation of juju.
Na wah for Naija people o. Soon men will start shagging goats and say that it was a woman that turned into a goat, so they are shagging human beings. All those police people who arrested the goat should actually be sacked alongside their bosses who allowed or authorised the press release. Rubbish! undecided

You cant be smart enough to work things out if you are in the habit of jumping on band wagons. No wonder you jumped onto the band wagon of those women. . . we'll wait and see
And the retard has chucked his toys out of the pram because people do not agree with him grin. . . ROFLMAO. cheesy

Your own special brand of stupidity defies definition (You really need to change your ID to JUST_STUPID). Who was it who started hurling insults because women did not sympatise with the original poster? We all know that you are bitter (maybe because your wife regularly wakes you up with a healthy slap, or maybe because you are the original poster. . . but who gives a Bleep?).

Go to your face-me-I-face-you rooms and lord it over the rats and cockroaches you have as tenants. You do not belong in civilised society. Any visually impaired half-wit can see that you have a great inferiority complex. On every thread where you have a woman who has a difference of opinion from yours that has argued with you, it is always because she is frustrated, cannot get a man, ugly, no man wants to marry her, sex starved etc. You must really think that all over the world those are the issues that are paramount with all women. It just shows how little intelligence you have. You are already a joke in your home and on here at Nairaland, so do keep performing  and entertaining us with your bitter twisted ignorance. I must however warn you that it would not make a blind bit of difference to any of the magnificent women here. LOL. . . cheesy
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Is Blocking Creation Of Ibadan State - Olubadan by Sapphic: 3:53pm On Jan 23, 2009
Becomrrich:
Go school mr, But let me answer.
First of all the 1999 constitution is an invalid constitution because it was NEVER done based on agreement of the people of nigeria. So we technically do not have a constitution.

Now let us pretend that we have a constitution. The nigeria constitution says in one section that the land act can not be altered.
The land act does not vest or give the land in nigeria to the federal government of nigeria. It only give FCT to the federal govt of nigeria. While it give the state ownership of the land.  So if the state transfer the land.

And the president can not alter the land act according to the constitution . only constitution review can alter the land act.

Now if all the western niger state agree to give thier land to the republic of benin. It is legal. This is based on the assumption that we had a valid constitution. But we never had a valid constitution.

A constitution is an agreement. But there was never an agreement to the 1999 constitution as required  even by the 1999 constitution itself.

So now we do not have a constitution and every goverment derive its power to rule based on the constitution , We really technically do not have a government. Now we know who own the land. If we the yorubas who own the land transfer it to Benin republic. It become valid.
This is why it is said that it is better to be totally unschooled, than to be half-educated. The 1999 constitution is very valid. If according to your argument, it was not the "people" of Nigeria who agreed to the constitution, your National Assembly members whom you elected (and who therefore are the people's reperesentative) had and still have the powers to alter/modify or expunge the parts of the constitution that they do not like, and they have not done so (apart from a few minor alterations shich do not matter here), but instead they have "adopted" it implicitly and work thereunder.

If for the sake of argument, you say that the 1999 constitution is invalid and void, the situation does not become like you would like to believe that Nigeria would become a nation without a constitution. No, what would happen is that the status quo ante would be restored and the 1979 constitution would go back to being the valid constitution. And if you argue that that isn't either, the situation would continue until we reach either the 1963 Republican constitution or the even further back, the 1960 Independence constitution (no one would say that it was not the people that agreed on the independence constitution and even the republican one). So please stop embarrassing yourself by sprouting all the nonsense you have said as it just shows how little you understand the law.

Oh! and before I forget, two little points -

(1) While the lands in the various states are not vested in the federal government as you stated, they are vested in the governor of each state as the owner of these lands. Although this ownership is a kind of trust, so that the governor holds or owns such lands in trust for the people of his state and cannot unjustly deny an "individual owner" the possession or "ownership" (ownership here is defined in a manner different from that vested in the governor) except it is for public interest etc. Thus, neither you nor I can "transfer", as you say, our lands to the Republic of Benin. Moreover, the alteration and determination of the boundaries of sovereign States is a whole different matter on another realm which involves international conventions and/or treaties/agreements BETWEEN sovereign States (as represented by the competent authority), NOT individuals. This takes you deeply past national laws into International Law (I refer you to the Bakassi Peninsula case between Nigeria and Cameroon).

(2) The president does NOT have the power to alter any law whatsoever. Of course in a state of emergency, there are powers he may exercise, but that does not even apply here, so abeg leave story. Also, what the heck do you mean by constitution review? You talk as if a constitution review is an independent body (a constitution review means exactly what it says i.e. carrying out a review of the constitution). The Land use Act CAN be amended by the National Assembly. It can be amended the same way the constitution can be amended (you'd do well to go through the constitution again. Pay special attention to Section 315(5) and if you like, you may read it in conjunction with Section 9(2) for a fuller understanding).

Bottom line, you'd do well, to read the laws you cite carefully and get an understanding of them before you start shooting off here with half-baked stuff. Better still, take your own advice and go to school. You can enroll for a law programme (In your second and fourth year of study, you will be taught constitutional law and land law respectively, and can take international law in your fourth of fifth year (Depending on the school)). Till you do any of these, stick to your area of competency.

(Geez, that was quite tiresome)

Becomrrich:
First of all the olubadan does need to worry. This is just to inform him, the republic of benin would create Ibadan state. Other state like akure state, ijebu state, benin and coastal state from delta state would be created in the republic of benin.

And each of this state would not get less than 3 times what they are getting from nigeria. And lagos is expected to get 5 times revenue from the benin republic.   And evey political prisoner and political accused like ibori, chief George etc shall be reviewed.

Look the nigeria law allows us to transfer our land to the republic of benin. According to the nigeria law , the land act does not give the president vested power on land expect land in the FCT. And the land act can not be modify by the president expect by constitution amendament. We have the right to transfer it to republic of  Benin. Please read the land act.
Abeg try not to offer opinions on matters that fall outwith your areas of competrncy. Which law allows anyone to transfer lands that fall within the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Benin Republic?

I have only one wish for this Oscars, and that is for our darling Kate Winslet to win the Best Actress Oscar. I wonder why they did not nominate her under the Best Supporting Actress category too (maybe we could have had a repeat performance of the Globes). Abeg Merly Streep has won enough.

Best Actress - Two weeks ago I would have said Kate Winslet without batting an eye but her hunger for this award has turned me off. So I'll go with Angelina Jolie
Abeg no blame the woman o. I am sure the feeling she had can be likened to all those Nigerian students who have sat for JAMB time after time only to not get a place in a university. After five attempts, the day they finally pass and get university admission, you need to check out the way some people practically run mad.
