Car TalkRe: I Made This Motorbike With My Bare Hands by Sapphic: 7:03am On Feb 07, 2009
EZEKWIBE:
I made this motorbike with my bare hands, and it runs on alternative energy, Is very unfortunate that our local technology has not been receiving the push it deserves, but eventually I know we would get there,  well I won't bore you with all the blah blah. I only have this one question, is it not time we start looking inward?
Unfortunately, I am one of those who actually doubts the authenticity of your claims. However, only you can know if your claims are true or not. All i can advise you to de is ensure you register the patent of your product. Also, contact the main universities that have renowned engineering faculties in the US, the UK and Japan, you'll be shocked at how many will offer you a full scholarship, as well as some deal that would see them take the lion's share (of course), but which would bring the a more polished finished product to the market, with you getting some sort of royalty. Obviously, this is no longer new technology, but I believe that they will appreciate your potential if nothing else (especially working with limited resources and materials).

Whether your claims are true or otherwise, I wish you the best.
CelebritiesRe: Etim Esin Sues JJ Okocha For Public Disgrace by Sapphic: 6:42am On Feb 07, 2009
I am not here to debate the merits or otherwise of the case or of Etims life or Okocha's life. I repeat, Toyin was out of order to sack Etim based on this altercation especially if there is a pending suit. If he was so concerned about viewers and advertisers, he could have suspended him (And even a suspension in this situation, a suspension would be out of order). At the worst case scenario, the station should not renew his contract (I won't be surprised if he does not have one ala Naija style). It's things like these that is seriously wrong with Nigeria. I cannot for the life of me see the BBC or ITV or Channel 4 fire Gary Lineker, Gaby Logan etc for clashing with some big sport wig at a party when the matter is before a court of law (even if there have been false accusations made by these presenters). To be honest, in a civilised society, that hundred million bucks (or whatever reduced amount) would be awarded to the sacked guy simply for unlawful dismissal. There is what is called due process and as a bleeping lawyer, the damn Subair man should know better.

E tire me o. This was the same Mariah that was accused in dem old days that she was always doing all those voice things in those days before she dumped her hubby and changed her style. The songs almost start deceptively low them catch the singers out with the range and how high it goes. I dey talk say the woman dey sing for Whistle Register, dem dey tell me say her voice dey low. I agree that Mariah's voice is not as good as it once was, but it is still higher and better than Beyonce's own. Even Christina Agulera's voice is better than Beyonce's.
CelebritiesRe: Etim Esin Sues JJ Okocha For Public Disgrace by Sapphic: 5:59am On Feb 07, 2009
Abeg Spikey, how can you comapre Russel Brand with this one? And even then, he resigned. Moreover, his offence was commited on the job. This incident has no bearing whatsoever with Etim's job. Let us call a spade a spade. If Etim had stolen the phone, I'd have understood Toyin Subair's stance. Nigerians are used to taking unjustified actions because nothing works in that country. As a lawyer, the least the Toyin could have done was wait for the outcome of the case before taking his own independent action. This way, it just seems like they are all trying to cow Etim Esin into submission.

CultureRe: Is It Rude To Speak Your Language Openly In Public? by Sapphic: 2:15am On Feb 07, 2009
Okay, maybe the woman's comment was uncalled for and downright rude, but men I have been on a bus that was headed in the Hackney direction a few times and the amount of loud Yoruba-Ngabtis someone hears there can make one run mad. Plus Nigerians generally tend to speak several decibels louder than everyone else (I do it sometimes too). All those people talking yarn about England. My Igbo friend who lives in New Jersey and works in NY takes those [do you call them interstate?] buses in every morning, she was reading a funny book and spend some time guffawing on the bus. She was told off seriously by some witch on the bus who threatened to get the driver to expel her from the bus. My mate was livid and just continued laughing even when the book was not funny. So abeg, cranky people abound in every country.

@sapphic

Seeing as I'm not getting paid for this by Beyonce, this will be my last comment on this topic. Your post was funny though, since when did Mariah have a high voice or are we talking about another Mariah? I'm talking Mariah Carey and she had a LOW voice in all of her songs I've listened to. Guinness book of records, huh? Lmao!!! Well, what isn't possible these days when Lil' Wayne is named 'best lyricist'? cheesy last time I heard, Mariah was busted for lip sync-ing at a concert. I don't get the whole voice argument really but I wasn't gonna say she can't sing because that'd be a lie. Even if she lip syncs all the time, she at least does it well. But damn, she is not that good. Please.
Like I clearly said, Mariah has a five Octave vocal range (and to break it down, it simply means that she can sing from low to very high i.e. sing in five different octaves). But you are right, you do not need to say anything more as you obviously have not listened to a wide range of Mariah's songs (Abeg go and listen to "Emotions" and tell me about how all her songs are in a low voice). Anyway, I dunno who might have given your Lil' Wayne the "best lyricist" title you said, but I am sure and am willing to bet that it wasn't the Guiness Book of Records. It is probably some award voted by the public or something similar (which is subjective as generally opposed to the Guiness Book which is much more objective). Like I said previously, facts are facts and sentiments are just what they are i.e. just sentiments based on personal opinion and have no bearing on hard facts.

The girl cheated on him. Bad? Definitely. But there is no excuse whatsoever for the guys behaviour. It showed a lack of good judgment and maturity. The girl was low, but with that act, the guy sunk lower.

I thought Keyamo is a criminal lawyer, what is he doing with a civil case?. Is that how Nigerian lawyers work?
Keyamo does human rights cases. Moreover, in Nigeria many lawyers straddle the fence and handle both criminal and civil cases.

Well, am not his father;s lawyer, you dont need to be a lawyer before you know this things, HE IS HIS SON! SO HE WOULD DEFINETLY BE GIVEN SOMETHING either he is good or bad. It might even be on a condition that he changes his ways.
So please, say something better.

LOL@this topic and posters

Yeah, I heard about her comment too, that's ignorant but that's no reason for all the insults people are posting here, sheesh!!

I don't know why people always bring up Mariah's name when Beyonce is mentioned. I'm sorry but Mariah is no where better than Beyonce,

she's good at what she does but please, don't force it, people.
Let us at least be objective here. Even when dreaming, Beyonce will not make the error of saying that Mariah is not her superior vocally. Mariah Carey is known worldwide for her vocal range. She has a five octave vocal range (something Beyonce can only dream about), employs the Melisma style of singing (something Beyonce cannot do) and can comfortably sing in the whistle register (again, something Beyonce is incapable of). She was in the Guiness Book of Records for having the highest voice of any singer and was voted top of the greatest voices in music. Whitney Houston voice is only better than Mariah's in terms of power (and it is definitely better than Beyonce's - or was at the height of her fame).

All the foregoing are hard facts and not sentiments in any way. So you are indeed right that Mariah should not be mentioned when talking about Beyonce's singing and voice, because frankly, it is an insult to Mariah that she would be compared to a singer who - though better than mediocre - is not so vocally good enough to be distingushable from the rest of the pack.

So because he has a ruined career is an excuse to be treated like a dog and labelled a Barawo abi? I'll try to keep in mind the fact that Nigeria is a country where poor people with ruined careers have to shut up and take crap because of their ruined careers. What a bleeping joke angry

If Toyin Subair suspended Etim Esin over this matter, he is a big asshole. What has this matter got to do with Etim's employment. I used to think of Toyin as an intelligent person, but this just shows the backward mentality that many Nigerians operate under. A lawyer of his calibre should have more sense.
