I am sure Chief Adokiye had access to the team list before the commncement of the tournament and he should have raised this issue then. That would have been seen as raising a patriotic observation. What does he intend to achieve by raising this issue now? To disqualify Nigeria or what? If you look at most of the teams, especially the ones from Africa, you'll notice a lot of potentially overaged players. gambia crashed out because their 18 of their 23 member squad that won the Africa championship were disqualified by MRI tests. Can Africans really compete in this tournament with truly under 17 players despite the nutritional challenges we face? |
People, when I read the post from becomrich, I laughed until i nearly broke my ribs. this man is something else. On Ribadu Vs. Ibori, what exactly do we need from Ribadu to prove that he was bribed by Ibori? Is Ibori such a smart guy that would require such a huge sum to frame him up despite all his known attrocities. I don't think it is difficult to crack if the case goes to court. Ribadu is no saint, but he deserves some credit for the little he did in anti corruption campaign. |
Ole Barawo thief seeking bail on health ground? God punish him. |
I'm happy that Maurice Iwu's useless "election" is being challenged successfully, but of what use is ordering another election with the same as the umpire? What will they do differently this time around? Omisore will still win the election again having accumulated so much money at the National Assembly while the poor opponent might need a fund raising camping to run for the election. |
maxtum:On trhe contrary, Nigerian are always willing to help out in such situations. I've witness such an occurence in a taxi in Ibadan, we all rendered offered to help and the mother and kid were both taken to hospital after delivery. It's not all doom and gloom in Nigeria. |
Goodness is the only reward for goodness. God bless everybody that was part of this feat. Amen. |
PDP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Progresssssssssss |
With both Traore and Wilshere ruled out due to injuries, Wenger has opted to inject some experience ito the side. it's gonna be tight but I expect Arsene boys to just nick this one. Arsenal 2 - Liverlose 1 |
manmustwac:You need your head examined. Must you look at all issues through religious microscope? If you think you are defending your religion, youe are wrong. You are only exposing your bigotry and ignorance. |
We have won the game. Congrats to the boy, more work to be done if they want to progress further. We are now closer to qualifying from the group. I'm sure the coach will tell them to stop playing to the gallery and put the ball into net rather than attempting to dribble imaginary opponents. |
This is world cup with a DIFFERENCE. |
RIP Kadiri. |
Dutchman Jo Bonfrere has admitted to BBC Sport that he is keen to coach Nigeria for a third time. His intervention will increase pressure on the current incumbent, Shaibu Amodu. The 63-year-old was assistant coach of the Super Eagles from 1990 to 1994 and then led Nigeria's under-23 team to gold at the Atlanta Olympics. He coached the senior side at the Nations Cup in 2000 but was sacked in 2001 following defeat to Sierra Leone in a World Cup qualifying match. Amodu's position has been the subject of constant debate as Nigeria have struggled through their campaign for a place at the global showpiece in South Africa 2010. They need a win in their final group game against Kenya plus a slip-up by table-topping Tunisia against Mozambique to qualify. "If Nigeria are interested in having me back, I will be very interested in the possibility of returning 'home'," Bonfrere told the BBC. "I think my track record speaks volumes [and] I still have an undying ambition to return Nigeria to the good old glory days." The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have said they have no plans to appoint a foreign coach, after the dismissal of German Berti Vogts in 2008. Yet Bonfrere insists he can revive the Super Eagles from their current troubles. "It is a shame that no one has ever taken the country to the height I left it eight years ago, though the team is full of great players and great potential," Bonfrere told BBC Sport. "I watch the team nowadays and clearly understand what is missing, which is why I would prefer to return to my first love - Nigerian football." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/8324092.stm ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since he left Nigeria, where has he been and what has been his achievements? |
At this rate, there will be no candidate for PDP for the election. Injunctions counter injunctions, All hail PDP. It only saddens me that hithertho credible persons like Soludo have joined the destruction train of the Party of Destroyers of People. |
Go gunners. I predict 2-0 win for my darling team. |
It's an open secret that Nigeria uses overage players to prosecute and win the previous tourmanent. This is just a continuation. Some of these players have played for a couple of years in the Nigeria Premier league, that is hard to come by for a 17-year old. |
The more you look; the less you see ![]() |
When you decide to go into politics in Nigeria, you should expect the unexpected. The battle for the #1 position is just beginning. Soludo will need to grow up politically and handle all these distractions maturely. |
, And if the Ghanians lost, we will never hear that TB Joshua prayed for the team to win. |
Is it his prayers that made Ghana win? Why did he not pray for Nigeria instead? Will he also pray for Ghana to win the world cup? T.B Joshua, please tell us who will win the under 17 world cup. What about Africa cup of Nation in February 2010? How about the CAF cup final between HEartland and TP Mazembe? Since T.B Joshua's god dedicate plenty of time for football, he may well tell us which team will win the Nigeria Premier league and a lot of us Arsenal fans won't mind your prayers for our team to win the English Premier league. |
temmytanny:Your 1st post said Sanusi is pursuing a Northern Agenda, this one suggests Jim Ovia and Tony Elumelu were unfairly spared by the same Sanusi that is pursuing a northern agenda. I guess you are telling us Elumelu is from kano and Jim Ovia is from Zamfara states. When are we going to stop all these unfair criticism and suspicion? If somebody is not deemed to be supporting a tribe, it must be a religion or a particular geo-political zone being persecuted. God will neither come down nor send angels to govern this country, it will be human being like you and me. The earlier we stopped this suspicion and hate mindset, the better for the future of this country. |
In Wenger we trust. |
Thank God for Ghana. I pray another African country win the under 17 world cup. This will surely propell African countries to perform well in the big one, next year World Cup. In addition to the Ghanaians feat, Egypt must also be commended for the organisation of the tournament. I hope Nigeria will live up to expectations in hosting the U-17 tournament which is commencing just next week. |
I am still waiting for the previous ID card the country purportedly issued to all Nigerians. This politicians have become a vicious cycle of problems to Nigeria. |
Funny post. Most of the points are spot-on. Come to think of it, Marriage is the process where a man loses his bachelor degree and the woman gains her masters. A lot of konw that madam is actually oga's oga in he house. |
eina:Someone once said when a dog is pushed to the wall, he most likely will attempt to bite the assailant, but when Nigerians are pushed to the wall they attempt to dig a hole on the wall to escape. With the above comment coming from somebody on NL !!!!!!!!!!!! I rest my case |
A lot of Nigerians (especially in the South West) believes that Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Ltd (OFN) was the product of misappropriation of the Federal government Agric programme of Operations Feed the Nation (OFN). That riddle needs to be resolved before Obasanjo can claim this feat for "his" farm. |
Another foolish attempt by Yar'adua's cronies to justify the unjustifiable. We all know the man went for medical treatment in Saudi, The school opening was just a ruse. His name was not even on the list of guest of honour at the school opening ceremony. This fools should stop messing the country's international relations. What has refusing to attend a UN summit got to do with Obama and US when they have better things to do with their time. |
A 62 year old groom and his 62 year old bride. That was a tragedy before the real tragedy. |
Sack Amodu and his entire coaching team now. Replace them with the following: Chief Coach : Sir Alex Fergusson, Assistant: Mourinho Technical assistant : Arsene Wenger Goalkeepers trainer: Gourdiola This will ensure we reach quarter finals of the nations cup and the 2nd round of the World Cup (that is if we miraculously qualify) |
Ibadan. Not too much on either the fast life or village life. |
