Just want to confirm if cost of decking and bungalow roofing are similar?

It is more expensive to deck these days than roof... although on the long run, its cheaper to deck because of the added advantage from having an extra floor.....

I know most will say its the client's call but i believe there's a point where the benefits (if any) becomes insignificant and therefore the additional cost isn't justified. that's the decision point i'm looking for.

How much of that amount can you save and EVERY OTHER FREE (unexpected) cash should be saved also.

When you save 100k, you can start by buying materials, 1 after the other.

It is really terrible to feel suicidal all because of marriage. I use use to see different news of how people commit suicide because of relationships and I always felt it was so stupid to think of suicide just because of a fail relationship.

Now I have seen it all clear that depression is really very bad especially when you feel so depressed in a marriage you work so hard and do everything to protect and make your family happy. Its very painful when you know honestly inside your heart that you don't cheat on your wife, provide everything she wants for herself and the kids even when business is quite rough.

She has no conscience and no regard for our union and our home. I am a guy that don't think about looking at wife's phone or suspecting her for anything but then after our first child she changed completely and as of today I don't know were I stand anymore because of my kids. I opened a business for her just so that she won't be like a house wife but she has completely taken the business more important than the family and wake up 4am to start cooking and close 8pm at night. Stressing herself so much but always complaining business is not moving and she is not making any money.

I sponsor everything in the home though am not complaining because that's what a man should do, but she does not have regard for anything or appreciate anything I do. Can you imagine I give her money for feeding weekly even though she is running a food business, she buys few food stuffs in the house which can stay almost two weeks without us eating them because we basically feed from food she cooks in her restaurant. I decided not to bother myself and just give her money to always ensure her business is moving and at least food will not be a problem for us.

One faithful day, I decided to check her phone because I observed a certain strange behavior about her and how she likes to off her phone at night or sometimes when I am around. I saw different chats with some two guys she claimed one was her ex boyfriend that just likes to check on her once in a while, and the other guy was someone I remember like coming to eat in her restaurant but she said they went to school together and he is working with a construction company doing a building project close to her restaurant. She also claimed that when they were in school he was asking her out even till they fished school but she preferred her ex boyfriend to him and when she had issues with her ex that was when I came into her life.

If the story she told me is true or not, I wasn't really bothered anymore because I know its normal for a woman you met at 26 years to have met other guys before you and obviously still has guys that don't respect people's marriage and still do anything to sleep with a married woman. But my paid now is because I feel so respected by many of the things she does and when I think of divorce, I only feel for my kids who will now have to grow up with another man or having to visit their mum and see her with another man.

Recently I have become so depressed that I have been thinking of suicide so that my kids will know their dad is no more rather than knowing that their dad is still alive but can only be with either daddy or mummy and not as a complete family. My depression is getting worse especially when I think about all I have done for her and the kids just to always make them happy but in return, she doest appreciate or even have any regard anymore for what is called "FAMILY"

Over 7 years now and at this point I really feel suicidal. Please I really need help because I make this big mistake.

I'm sorry but you haven't said anything about what she did or what the chat was......

1. What's your take on concrete countertops as opposed to HDF, MDF, or marble.

2. Is concrete flooring/polishing a cheaper alternative to tiling?

For some context, once I am through with plastering, I am seriously considering a lot of DIY for the remaining part of the house, particularly cabinets, wardrobes, chairs, and flooring.

I saw a concrete top in my younger sis's house and it was amazing... which ever you choose, do it well

on the flooring; Tiling might be a cheaper alternative on the long run (in my opinion)

Yes. It's a waterlogged area. The piliing is to prevent the house from sinking because it's a swamp. How many rods do u think I will be needing?

2 tonnes 16mm (beam & columns)
1 tonne 12mm (matt)
1 tonne 8mm or 10mm (rings)

OR

2 tonnes 16mm (beam & columns)
2 tonne 10mm (i.e. replacing the 12mm for matt with 10mm)


Off-course you could have some pieces left, but just pieces...

Please how many rods will be enough for this project. I met a welder and he gave me the following list of no of rods for this 4 Bedroom bungalow. But the list looks much.


His list include :

2 tonne of 16mm
2 tonne of 12mm
1 tonn of 10mm

Hi, I want to believe the building is (to be) on a WATER-LOGGED land? hence the use of so much Iron?
Even at that, 2 tonnes of 12mm in particular is not possible.

Good morning my wonderful people, am at the point of doing concrete parapet and roof carcass. The first question is, is it true that the 12ft(3.6m) hardwood planks are not the true length, that's what am using for my calculations but my carpenter is saying the lengths are shorten now adays, and what are the true lengths of hardwood planks in Lagos and surroundings.

To minimize cost, what's the best way getting the concrete parapet and roof carcass done, since am not on ground to get somethings done myself.

You won't get 12ft in Lagos ooooohhh...
for hardwood the best is 11ft BUT most wld be just a lil over 10ft..

so use 10ft to do your calculation and hope you know for overlap, you'll use about 3ft. leaves you with 7ft (if you understand)

I just did my concrete parapet over a month ago courtesy of great tutorials from KolaShangOne, saydfact, seglad2 and Dennis3D. Same goes for muffutau55, Perfecttouchade, Maintain12, skimanski, twinskenny, Nobody, omanzo02 as I approached lintel and decking stage in 2019. Notwithstanding, none of these gentlemen got a job or token appreciation from me!
Even diordaves called out money121 twice to respond to my enquiries on parapet facia, for reasons known only to him, he didn't.
Let's bury this here and now.
Money121 is not a fan of writing or theories. He is a practical, operational and blunt person.
Based on facts on this thread, he has never cheated.
It is his prerogative to respond or not, but in the end, not only does what he knows best, but also gets it exceptionally done. Now, that we know, lets stop the name callings, please.

So I got two Job offers within one month, with a big and smaller organization but both salaries are the same.

I accepted both but started with the bigger organization, and in less than two weeks am almost breaking down from stress. The workloads and deadlines are unbearable though you will grow career wise.

Now the offer for the smaller organization is still open and am tempted to resign from this one because of the workload and take up the less stressful job.

Please I need urgent answers so I don't make any huge career mistake. Thank you my fellow nairalanders

CONGRATS for getting this far...

If what you're considering are Nigerians tiles then (IN MY OPINION):

1, CDK, GOODWILL and GOLDEN CROWN
2. CDK wont lose colour, while for Goodwill (the more expensive ones are of higher quality) but generally, the lighter the colour, the less it loses colour
3. say between 350 and 750 - depends on who's doing it and what quality you demand
4. GOODWILL is the most economical among the 3..

You've done some modification to the initial sketch, my observations are:

1. The 2 bedroom by the right, the toilet doors shd be nearer to the bedroom door not the bedroom window.
2. The laundry cant work in front of the store
3. The visitor's toilet cant be in the middle of the room
4. Too many openings created in the living room, makes it NON-functional and difficult to arrange furnitures

It wld surprise you that estate actually have more than Omo Oniles - The most Omo-Onile wld collect from you is N500K or a little above (over the span of building)... but for estate, you might be paying for life depending....

I am even tempted to just go for an apartment or detached flat /building in the heart of the mainland or Lekki but they all seem to be on the high price.

If I'm to advice you - IF and IF your budget is not UP-TO 40m forget LEKKI - AJAH AXIS (even if its a bungalow you plan to build)....

for 20m look towards the outskirt of Ikorodu, where you can get a land less than or equal to 5m, then build with 15m (subject to your design type)

You are mixing-up Bulding Approval Vs. C-of-O.

Building Approvals will impact the TYPE of Building it was granted for.
C.of.O will impact just the OWNERSHIP of the land.
