Ironically; even as an Arhitect I learnt most of the things I know working under a QS...
THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED EXPERIENCE....... and YES; ANY1 ON THE BUILDING INDUSTRY (Archy, QS, Builder or Structural Engr) can lead the team.
anything else is politics |

Dendrick123: Thanks for your input sir, The staircase was later reduced to 1800mm on the final plan sir, tho initially I intend on leaving the store without a door, but on second thought I think I'll need to place one where you highlighted, during the building process, or what do you think?
Below is a picture of the final plan GREAT - just relocate the store door and perfect it is. Thanks... |

Dendrick123: Good evening sir/ma,
Please I need your feedbacks on a Kobo Kobo project I intend on start towards the end of this year, it's a story unit of one bedroom flat on a 30/25ft land, I've also attached a copy of the intended building plan.
I'll really appreciate all your inputs, observations and will really be grateful if anyone can help me with a QS if possible, the project is in the northern part of the country, soil is hard and stable.
I must say it's really been worth the while reading through the first page to the present of this magnificent thread, the the time and selfless efforts made by the various experts here in dishing out valuable information to followers of the thread is exceedingly beyond comprehension. I say a BIG Thank You to; And all the other experts and home owners am not able to mention, you've shaped and inspired me in almost everything about properties, and am really grateful.
Thanks as I await your concerned reviews concerning my project Thanks for the mention: I'll say, reduce the staircase width to 1800mm so you can gain a bit more space in the Kitchen and Living Room. Its a perfect studio apartment, even if you choose to leave the stairs at 2000mm. My ONLY major concern is: THE LOCATION OF THE STORE DOOR IS A DISADVANTAGE TO THE KITCHEN AND HOW MUCH IT CAN ACCOMMODATE; the solution is to locate it in the lobby b4 the kitchen. See attached sketch; (CYAN colour shows location of Sink and Cooker) - not possible with the present opening of the store. Goodluck; lets get this going

temi4fash: Thank you sir.
Since the foundation has been done before we got the land.We should dig out and remove all the 12mm and change to 16mm before we do the German floor. |

temi4fash: Oga Saydfact,
Thank you for all you do.
We want to start building on a land that has a foundation already and we intend to to the German floor.
It would be 2 flats up and 4 one room and palour flat downstairs.
It seem it was 12mm rod that was used in the foundation. Is it OK to continue to use it as it going to be a storey building or we change it.
Thank yoh Thanks for your kind words. My advice would be to change please... Thanks and may God make it easy. The 12mm would still be useful for lintels.. Goodluck |

MrOkenwa: Sorry to bother you Sir. Please to what extent would this 13ft affect the estimated measurement of 384.9mts that @perfecttouchade gave me up there? I do not know the parameters he used - BUT the higher the more wood and roofing sheet required.... by my rough estimates, i also got 383m2 - I doubt it would be much different thou. cc: perfecttouchade |

MrOkenwa: Thank you for your input Sir. Please, is there any appropriate length to consider? Cost aside. I would like the building to be moderately tall. It’s a bungalow. Thank you very much. Use between 3300mm to 3900mm 11ft to 13ft Goodluck |

Perfecttouchade: sir, I will help get details of it while other experts here too can give their own opinions..reasons because I'm not into roofing but I can help source for the required details. Thanks. Cc: saydfact kolashangone Evening boss.. Cc: MrOkenwa The major factor to note is, if the king post goes beyond 10ft - 11ft (actual length of hardwood), cost is greatly increased. However, anything from 2.4m (8ft) is adequate... It all comes down to choose and aesthetic.. Goodluck |

valencia2012: @saydfact
I am humbled to have gotten your invaluable professional opinions and advice. Thanks guys! If you were based in Owerri, I would undoubtedly have had dealings with you. Owerri to my village is just 30 minutes and would save lots of expenses on logistics, transportation, etc. Hence my reason for dealing with my contacts in Owerri. I have decided to settle for the concrete cast parapet and stone coated roofing between an interval of 4 to 6 months. Carpentry works alone has been agreed for 120k for the parapet (excluding materials). I hope to apply and re-schedule my annual leave again as soon the flight ban is lifted. Once again, thanks guys!!! Thanks and Goodluck |
