This topic puts the average Nigerian woman to sleep. What exactly do feminists want, anyway?
RomanceRe: Suppose Your Fiancee Is Pregnant By Your Immediate Brother? by Seun(mod): 5:04pm On Nov 07, 2005
If you've been engaging in premarital sex with your fiancee and you now discover that she's pregnant, how would you now jump to the conclusion that the baby belongs to your brother? Wouldn't you assume that the baby is yours? huh

Christianity EtcRe: I'm a Christian But I Don't Need Church! by Seun(mod): 3:33pm On Nov 07, 2005
You can't say you don't need church:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. - Hebrews 10:25

And you can't despise the role of Pastors:
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. - Hebrews 13:17

That is, if you are a Christian who follows the bible. Do you follow the bible or does your Christianity exclude that? huh

Christianity EtcRe: Difference Between a Religion and a Cult by Seun(mod): 2:44am On Nov 07, 2005
exu:
I've seen a few threads with people complaining about the presence of cults within Nigeria.
Exu, is it possible that you're confusing 'secret cults' (which are very common in Nigerian Universities and frowned upon because they promote violence among youths) with 'religious cults' (which seem to be what you're asking us to define here)? Note that when Nigerians are complaining about the 'menace of cultism', they are usually referring to secret cults and not religious cults!
PhonesRe: What's With V-mobile GPRS, Yahoo Mail and Hotmail? by Seun(mod): 2:18am On Nov 07, 2005
Aparently they are trying to force people to use their own e-mail service instead of the free Yahoo Mail or Hotmail; a misguided attempt to make some extra revenue. Obviously, Vmobile Nigeria is not as customer-friendly as we thought (see also this survey).

Once they discover that subscribers are bypassing their filters by using the regional yahoo-mail/hotmail domains, they will block those ones too. Other names for this phenomenom: (1) slapping your customers (2) Shooting yourself in the foot.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Gender Inequality: Was Feminism Just a Fad? by Seun(mod): 8:18pm On Nov 06, 2005
Try to continue your life as a woman after being raped in a male dominated society. They would probably prefer the faith of the men.
If surviving women in war-torn areas so badly wanted to die, they would simply commit suicide. Most rational human beings will choose life over death every time no matter how hard life is. All I'm saying is that in a war even very young and old men are forced unto the battlefield before anyone even dreams about sending women, so many more men die. In addition, in a male-dominated society, there seems to be much more societal outrage over the killing of a woman than the killing of a man.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Gender Inequality: Was Feminism Just a Fad? by Seun(mod): 6:02pm On Nov 06, 2005
look at the woman in the north that was stoned to death for "adultery". that would never have happened to a man.
No woman has been stoned for adultery yet - each time a woman is condemned to death for adultery under Sharia, her lawyer would appeal and win the appeal. However, some men have had their hands amputated for stealing, while others have been flogged publicly for various offences. Those women were charged for adultery because they got pregnant out of wedlock - they were not caught in the act and hence their lovers (the men) were not caught.

When there is a war, women get [sexually asaulted] while men get killed. Which is worse?
Nairaland GeneralRe: Gender Inequality: Was Feminism Just a Fad? by Seun(mod): 5:34pm On Nov 06, 2005
[Again talking from my experience in Nigeria]

Nferyn, I feel you, but when I doscovered that I was more of a feminist than the women I was supposedly fighting for, I decided to quit. My justification: why should I fight for the women if they are not interested fighting for themselves or supporting those who are trying to fight for them?

Our women in Nigeria, especially in Yorubaland, are probably the most liberated women in Africa. They have been pulling their weight even before independence and they have been using their mouths to build up and tear down great men for decades. If sexual inequality is so bad, then why aren't our women campaigning for it?

There is something that women are enjoying from the unequal treatment; something that probably makes them live longer. They enjoy more security and the freedom to express their emotions. I mean, this type of woman bores me to death, but yet they tend to live so long, which makes me envy them a little.

Christianity EtcRe: Do You Believe in Infant Water Baptism? by Seun(mod): 5:45am On Nov 06, 2005
Donnie,
1) A baby born to a Christian woman will go to heaven if he dies.
2) An atheist married to a Christian woman will go to heaven when he dies.
3) A baby can be baptised because his mother is a Christian.
4) An atheist can be baptised because his wife is a Christian.

Based on your interpretation of, "For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, ..." which of the 4 statements above are true?

TV/MoviesRe: Americans Don't Watch Nigerian Movies? by Seun(mod): 2:17am On Nov 06, 2005
We have Americans and Phillipinos who are active on this forum because they were searching for information on Nigerian movies. Most of them are married or related to Nigerians or have Nigerian friends who regularly watch such movies. So obviously there are Americans who watch Nigerian movies.

But how many? That is the real question!

The truth is that if your movies are accepted by a reasonable percentage of the Nigerians in America alone, you'll be smiling to the bank. But it would be impossible to get our Nigerian movies to be shown in cinemas without getting more Americans interested in them.
RomanceRe: [poll] Would You Prefer to Marry a Virgin? by Seun(mod): 2:03am On Nov 06, 2005
Dear nferyn,

Please check the timestamp on the messages; I feel really bad to be talked down to based on what I wrote many months ago.

I have changed my mind about sex. If any disease-free girl or married woman wants to have sex, let her come to me and I will do her. I will sample as many girls as possible in the bedroom and if I find one that pleases me on bed and whose character is tolerable, I will go ahead and marry her. Happy now?

Can you itemize the excellent advice you say you have found on this thread? I am afraid I can't tell which is which just by reading the thread, but I will like you to be more specific about the excellent advice you have found on this thread which you'd like me to follow.

Waiting for your response!

1) How do we know that this B&W picture was not taken when you were much, much younger?
2) Does your wife smile? grin

Since you were not that close when you knew each other, he might be a gold-digger or someone desperate to travel out of Nigeria.

He's in Nigeria, and you're in the UK, right? Can you supply more relevant details?
