School bullies are the junior version of criminals like armed robbers and kidnappers. Let's stop giving excuses for their disgusting behaviour. If we declare such behaviour unacceptable, that's exactly what it will be.

If it was to be my kid today, I will empower him/her to fight their battles (fire for fire) and not fight it for them.
Even as an adult, do you fight your own battles? Don't you rely on the police and the army to protect you?
The battles I will want my child to fight in school are academic battles, & social battles, not physical ones!!

Children generally pick on the weaker kids.
And that is why the weaker kids have parents. Being strong is not a license to mistreat a weaker person. If we allow boys to think it's ok to bully the weak, then they will bully their (weaker) wives in the future.

There are kidnappers and murderers in every country. What they do is catch them, then lock them up. Period.
The problem right now is that the government is not living up to its obligation of securing lives and property.

Business › Re: Business Areas That Need Investment In Nigeria by Seun(mod): 12:47pm On Jul 07, 2007
We're talking about business areas, not government areas, but there's he government can do much to help. A legal system that actually works would be really helpful, so business disputes can be settled. (However, even in this case, the development of network of private arbitrators can be much more efficient and helpful.)
Family › Re: my parents dont want me to get married now by Seun(mod): 12:36pm On Jul 07, 2007
i can't get married knowing they don't approve.
That's the root of your problem. The workaround is to ask your parents for approval when you're about to fall in love with a new guy so you can dump him immediately if they don't approve. The solution is to grow up!
Celebrities › Re: Police Arrest Nkem Owoh In Holland by Seun(mod): 12:16pm On Jul 07, 2007
A US tech journal is now claiming that those arrested, including Mr. Owoh, were arrested for 419:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/07/02/419_singer_caught/

Here's the message i sent to him through the website:
Here is a different account of the story for your perusal.

"One of Nollywood’s most popular actors, Nkem Owoh, had a bitter experience in the hands of the police in The Netherlands last weekend after they stormed the venue of his musical show in Amsterdam and whisked him away alongside over 200 Nigerians.

Our source informed that no fewer than 70 of the Nigerians who did not have valid papers in the country have been deported as a result of the raid.

But Owoh, who is better known in the make-believe business as Osuofia, was said to have been arrested over his popular song, ‘I Go Chop Your Dollar.’

The song, which had earlier been banned in Nigeria by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), our source said, was used to promote the show in Amsterdam, an action that reportedly infuriated the security operatives.

‘I Go Chop Your Dollar’ dwells on the tricks Nigerian fraudsters, known as 419, use in duping unsuspecting Westerners of huge sums of money in foreign currency.

The Netherlands police were said to have stormed the venue of the show in a helicopter about 2a.m and arrested practically everybody at the venue.

We gathered that the show attracted a large number of Nigerians living in the central European country and both the police and immigration authorities that had been on the trial of illegal immigrants, especially from Nigeria, saw it as an opportunity to rid them off their society.

"Over 200 of them (Nigerians) were arrested that night. It was a big haul; they came with helicopter and cars and circled the whole area. As I speak with you, over 70 of those apprehended that night have been deported for possession of expired or fake immigration papers.

"Osuofia was also whisked away but was released hours after," the source said.

Can you see what really happened now? This raid was not about 419, it was about Nigerians living in Spain with false papers. Apart from Mr. Owoh's humorous song, there's no link between his show and 419. I understand that the 419 menace is a big problem, but let's not react with our emotions. The people who congregated at that show were Nigerians in general, not 419ers in particular. Their crime was not scamming but illegal immigration.

Please correct this if you can. I'll appreciate it very much.

Seun Osewa

They don't have to kill the Niger Delta 'youths'. They only need
to arrest the murderers and kidnappers among them, aka 'militants'.

Don't have any kids unless your problems are fully worked out. These advisers will not raise the kids for you.
For an inter-cultural relationship to work out, your understanding of each other must be beyond perfect.
If it is not, then quit now. It's not going to get any better when you have kids; it will be much much worse.
Business › Re: Profiteering In Nigeria: What Is Your Opinion? by Seun(mod): 12:04am On Jul 07, 2007
If there is fuel scarcity, it is natural for the price to be high. That way, only those that need it most will buy it.

In a free market, there is no absolute scarcity. Sometimes the price of garri goes up, sometimes it goes down, but it is always available to those who want it most badly and are willing to part with more of their money. That's the way it should be. When fuel is scarce, the price should go up, so that those that need it for more important things like business will buy it while those that need it for unimportant nonsense will stay home.

When I say "business" I am not talking about corporations. I'm talking about barbers, transporters, welders.

When the price of fuel is allowed go up, renewable alternatives like solar energy will become more attractive.

Not being a virgin isn't such a big issue, really. It takes a while to accept this as a 'morally upright' person.

Why do some women regret not being virgins? They regret it because they didn't enjoy the sex! tongue
