Career › Re: New Salary Structure N Tax: D Way Forward by Seun(mod): 8:38am On Feb 11, 2007
The government can control inflation by creating and spending less money.
Raising the salary of civil servants is the opposite of that. You can't eat your cake and have it.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: HITV Gains Exclusive Rights To European Premier League by Seun(mod): 8:32am On Feb 11, 2007
DSTV has so many channels so why are people fretting over the premiership?
The Premier League is a major factor that drives the purchase of DSTV. Soccer fanatics need it.

So the wise saying "opportunity comes but once" hold the truth.
That's wrong!

My finding is that opportunity comes again and again, but one who is unprepared won't even recognize it as one.

I don't particularly care about what you think it advocates. Stop attacking me and let's face the topic.

I do not want civilians harmed, and I have been able to point out why they musn't be. Thanks and bye.

I still find the show unbelievably boring, but Ogechi is definitely cute. The boardroom pretentiousness bores me.

Naturally, when she played such a character in "Dark Angel", I fell in love! kiss

The militants are currently overplaying their hand. They are bound to go too far sooner or later, the pretext the military have been waiting for. When it finally happens it won't be a contest. It will be called genocide.
Politics › Re: Nigeria-delta Crisis On Cnn by Seun(mod): 10:28pm On Feb 09, 2007
My position is that the people of the Niger Delta are not responsible for the oil windfall.
Afterall, they did not plant the oil in the ground, and they are not the ones using technology to extract it.

However, if the extraction of oil has caused pollution in their environment, then they deserve compensation.

People like Ken Saro Wiwa, unlike these kidnappers, were worthy ambassadors of the Niger Delta people.
They campaigned for the desires of their people without stopping so low as to become common criminals.

These militants are just capitalizing on the gullibility of the educated masses to obtain money and fame.
And their kidnapping is making things worse by scaring away the very private investors who bring development.
There is very little the government can do to develop that region if people like you and me are afraid to go there.

That's the same idea I settled upon when discussing with a friend. 50% at most goes into the joint account.
Politics › Re: Nigeria-delta Crisis On Cnn by Seun(mod): 10:13pm On Feb 09, 2007
All Niger Deltans are not criminals - only the ones carrying guns, kidnapping, and killing soldiers. That's my point.

If the militants live with civillians who offer them shelter and protection
If an armed man comes to your house in the middle of the night asking for shelter, will you not offer it to him?
Does that make you a criminal? If so, then that means every victim of armed robbery is a criminal! Beyond that, it is not every civilian in the Niger Delta that has been forced to harbour criminals, so killing them is pure murder.

Vsat would be too expensive because SAT-3 fiber-optic bandwidth is now available!
Politics › Re: Nigeria-delta Crisis On Cnn by Seun(mod): 9:44pm On Feb 09, 2007
The militants who did all these things are not civilians. They are common criminals.

The poor men and women who have the misfortune of living in the same area are not to blame.
Only a bloodthirsty military person would want to punish unarmed civilians for the misdeeds of armed criminals.

The government of Lagos State does not kill unarmed Lagosians for the actions of armed robbers.
These militants are ordinary criminals. They are causing lots of mayhem simply because they are armed.

The government is made to help the people; to neutralize criminals so that civilians can enjoy peace.
A government that attacks law-abiding citizens because naval officers were killed has forgotten its mandate!

This is obvious, and needs not be debated. Punish the kidnappers, but leave civilians alone. Thank you.

Grrr. Over-regulation gives civil "servants" so much free money. I hate that.
