TV/MoviesRe: Wanted: Great Scripts And Stories For Movie Production by Seun(mod): 6:13pm On Dec 02, 2006
Original action and adventure stories are very rare in Nollywood, and therefore precious.
For that reason, I would like to encourage you to develop your ideas into a 60-140 minute script.
I can help you develop your idea into a marketable form if you contact me before you start writing.
It's not that easy to write a good movie script, however. You need to be really dedicated to writing!

BusinessRe: Who Is Your Customer? by Seun(mod): 10:41am On Dec 02, 2006
That is only true when the customer is buying a product for someone else to consume. For example, if a mother buys a book for her child, she will want the child to enjoy it. You satisfy the child directly to satisfy the mother indirectly.

For advert-supported services, the situation is much more complicated. The viewers consume your programming, but what the advertisers (customers) consume is the attention of those users. Advertisers do not sponsor TV shows so that viewers will enjoy them. They sponsor TV shows so that you will see their ads. That's what they care about.

You do not have to maximise the satisfaction of the consumer of an ad-supported service in order to maximize your revenue. You only have to satisfy them better than the alternative ad-supported services they could be consuming. Example: Nairaland doesn't have to maximise its users' happiness. It only needs to be better than other forums.

If your ad-supported service is better than others, you'll get lots of traffic to sell your customers. Advertisers don't indirectly consume services they sponsor. They directly consume attention (clicks, impressions) for their products.

If you have an idea for a story that you want to develop, please email me so we'll be able to make sure the idea is a marketable one. You don't want to spend several weeks writing a script only to be told that the premise is bad.
BusinessRe: Who Is Your Customer? by Seun(mod): 9:07am On Dec 01, 2006
I think a customer is always consuming something direcly or indirectly. My customers consume web traffic.

I never managed to complete a story. I don't have the patience of a dedicated writer.
TV/MoviesRe: How To Report Nollywood Piracy In The U.s? by Seun(mod): 8:34am On Dec 01, 2006
We should first of all create an avenue for the distribution of legitimate Nigerian movies in the US.
If the pirates persist after legitimate copies become available, then stopping would be justifyable.

What about the people that actually invested their time and money into these universities? Don't they deserve far more credit than a government that merely decided to stop frustrating them?

BusinessRe: Who Is Your Customer? by Seun(mod): 8:13am On Dec 01, 2006
I'm not saying that we shouldn't care about consumers. From the business-person's point of view, we only need to care about the user because our customer cares about them. They are important, but customers are more important.

From a business angle, I'm hosting a big crowd on Nairaland because Google likes the traffic. Period. If I have to choose between satisfying a user and satisfying a customer, I ought to choose the customer everyt time.

Sometimes, customers don't fully understand what they want, but one must be committed to their satisfaction.

the invasion was done carried out under the mandate of UN Security Council Resolution 1441,which required Iraq to comply with all previous Security Council resolutions or face "serious consequences".
How silly of you not to be able to see the difference between "serious consequences" and an invasion.

PoliticsRe: Hilda Williams For Lagos State Governor by Seun(mod): 8:15pm On Nov 30, 2006
Widow of slain front-line Lagos State governorship aspirant, Engineer Funsho Williams, Hilda, has formally declared to contest the 2007 governorship elections in Lagos State on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Williams said her decision to conttest stemmed out of her desire to continue with her late husband, Funsho’s vision.

Declaring in Lagos yesterday, she said “people wondered why a grieving widow should plunge herself into politics, is it impossible to stop grieving the loss of such a great soul?.

“But as the saying goes, if your house is on fire, you put aside your sorrow; forget your pain for the moment while you put out that fire."

This is no his first time of going back to school for more education.

He seems to really believe in higher education.
Well, now he has something to do after retiring from politics. Bye bye, happy studying!
PoliticsRe: President Obasanjo Enrols As Theology Student Of National Open University by Seun(mod): 1:31pm On Nov 30, 2006
President Olusegun Oba-sanjo yesterday made good his earlier decision to acquire more knowledge by matriculating into the School of Arts and Social Sciences of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), where he is the visitor, thus making history by becoming the first serving leader of any country in the world to enroll into an open university in his own country.

This fact was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the NOUN, Professor Olugb-emiro Jegede, in his opening address when he stated that the transformation of President Obasanjo to Student Obasanjo bears unparallel significance in the history of education, not only in Africa but, world wide.

"Our President has become the first in many respects. While inventory of serving heads of state/government who have taken open and distance learning courses is still being confirmed, it is interesting to note that whereas President Nelson Mandela (South Africa) and President Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe) took their degree through ODL before becoming Heads of State and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia graduated with an MBA through UKOU in 1996, no serving head of state anywhere in the world has enrolled into an open university in his country".

At a special matriculation ceremony held in the State House, the President who emphasised that in exactly six months' time as he hands over to a new President he would simply be known and addressed as "student Olusegun Obasanjo" with pledge to "refrain from any act calculated to disrupt the activities of the University or likely bring the it into disrepute."
