GodsMopol:The first living thing was probably a very simple unicellular organism, similar to blue-green algae, bacteria, etc. Unicellular organisms have no concept of motherhood or nurturing. They multiply by dividing themselves into two whenever they have enough energy and materials. |

It’s shocking that they had no plan in place to rescue him in the case of an emergency. I don’t believe it. |
Could you lend me the mind reading device that makes you an authority on what women are thinking? |
Why would God choose to create giant cartoon creatures to torment us in order to end the world when he can just say, "world, end!"? ![]() |

Knowing that most of your lovers, family members, and friends are being tortured in hell fire would be a form of suffering for you even if you were lucky to make heaven (which is by grace, i.e. luck) Update: aribisala0 said it already. |
konjinus:I’m sorry that you feel this way. For most atheists, the objective is to enlighten religious people rather than to insult them. Christians talk about hating the sin but loving the sinner. In the same way, most atheists dislike religion, but they want the best for religious people. however I want to ask a question, why are athiest only after Christians and jews? They are not after you. They are after the unjustified beliefs that prevent you from enjoying your life to the max and allowing others around you to do the same. Do they not believe in God or are they just angry with GodThey are angry with religion, which confiscates your time and money, dictates what you can and cannot do in your life, makes you intolerant, and offers only worthless promises in exchange for all your painful sacrifices. |

MhizzAJ:It doesn’t spread STDs or cause unwanted pregnancies. It doesn’t break hearts. It’s harmless. And it releases a hormone that makes you feel relaxed. If something is harmless and also beneficial, it is a good thing. and it's a sinMasturbation was never condemned in the Bible despite the fact that it was definitely happening. Apostle Paul probably did it all the time since he never got married. The only reason to condemn masturbation after condemning fornication, adultery and prostitution is if your goal is just to make people feel guilty all the time. |
Daviddson:Having a choir isn’t unbiblical but telling people that God expects every Christian to join the choir is unbiblical. Similarly, it is not unbiblical for a Christian to voluntarily choose to pay 10% of her income to her church, but it is unbiblical to teach that God requires it of every Christian. |
Daviddson:Tithing was not practiced by the apostles and early Christians. There is no passage that says Christians should pay 10% to their income to churches. Even the tithing of the Jews in the Old Testament was very different from what churches demand today. It wasn't an income tax. spartan117:People often think and talk about fictional characters (e.g. Jon Snow) as if they actually exist. |
DangotePikin:This was my first step towards atheism, but it did not make me an atheist. It only made me lose my faith in churches. Another issue for me was software piracy. I couldn't understand why none of the fellowships felt that using pirated software on their computers was a sin. I couldn't imagine that they were in communion with God because I felt God would have made it very clear to them that software piracy was a sin. |
Don't be offended. They have been programmed to believe that God should be given credit for every good thing that happens to them. This programming is reinforced in church every week. I am sure that, in their minds, they truly appreciate the people that "God used" to assist them. |
You are right. The day I discovered that tithing wasn't biblical was the beginning of the end of my faith, because it suggested that all of the highly respected, holiness preaching, miracle working, pastors I looked up to and respected, were liars. They lied against God to make money. |
NPComplete:Agreed. My intention was to give those who are struggling to understand the idea of oblivion after death a way to wrap their minds around it. If you have no problem accepting that you didn't exist in any realm before you were born, the idea of not existing after death is not a stretch. It could be that we existed in a form or dimension our present 3D minds are incapable of assessing hence the appearance of lack of experience of life before the mother's womb. Proceeding along this line, death could be a sort of freedom from the limitations of our present form and enabling to continue gleaning our pre-corporeal existence. Hell it could even be like a Larva-pupa-butterfly life stages. Remember I said "could". Who knows?I can't help but notice that you seem to have no problem "assessing" these "possibilities" with your "3D mind", so that's a poor excuse. 2. Even if we concede there's no life before a mother's womb, that does not effectively preclude a life after death. Assuming all life begin during conception, there's no way to guarantee all life ends after death. Perhaps conception is the ingredient needed for the formation of the information our consciousness holds and such information must get transferred in one form or another after death. Perhaps our mind are effectively synchronised using some form of quantum entanglement to some distant part of the cosmos and death is just some form of quantum teleportation to those parts. Who knows?Oblivion after death seems more likely. Even the Jews, who wrote Genesis, believe(d) this: "dust you are, and to dust you shall return". Occam's razor suggests that the simplest plausible explanation for a phenomenon - oblivion in this case - is likely to be the correct one. |
AHCB:Simple: where did you come from when you were conceived? asuustrike2009:Did you experience any life before you were conceived in you mother's womb? If not, there's no good reason to expect life after death. |
Google seems to have anointed Kotlin as the JVM language to replace Java. I suspect that it has a brighter future than JRuby for this reason. |
