Afenifere Who the heck are they?? After they have sold themselves to Jonathan for a few dollars they suddenly found their voices. They have suddenly become self righteous because Fashola exposed them for who they are. They are just like Gani Adams of the OPC who started singing Jonathan's praise to high heavens because he was awarded an ILLEGAL pipeline contract! The worst part is that they even tried to belittle Fashola's laudable achievements. Fashola built what is probably the best bridge in Nigeria in Ikoyi and they had the audacity to actually question the amount that was used in building it. In case they have forgotten, their Paymaster quoted a figure THAT IS 5 TIMES what Fashola used in building the Lekki bridge to build the second Niger bridge!(A bridge that IS STILL YET TO BE BUILT!) And yet these old men would be screaming themselves hoarse because of a few dollars instead of asking why a similar bridge should be built at six times the cost. I would not bother myself to list Fashola's achievements because they are too numerous to mention. The only thing that pains me is that Fashola is not the one running for President |
@poster Your friend is obviously scared because the man invoked God. God HAS NEVER been a God of confusion. If the Holy Spirit spoke to HIM and said that she would be his wife, then the Holy Spirit would also speak to her and confirm same in her heart. As it stands she has no interest in the guy and the guy is SIMPLY LAZY!!! The bible clearly states that a man that does not provide for his own family is worse than an infidel. For goodness sake this man that is 36 years old is still waiting for the outcome of his father's case!!! Does he sound like a serious man? He is already boasting about money that is not his and he has not interest in making his own money. My problem with your friend is that it sounds as is she is easily swayed by material things because there is absolutely no reason that she should be giving this guy ANY AUDIENCE! He is 36, lives with his mom, is waiting for his father's court case and has never worked in his life!!!! And your friend is ACTUALLY contemplating MARRYING him?? Sometimes the gullibility of some women never ceases to amaze me. Abeg brothers never finish for church. Your friend should take this matter to prayer and if she still feels he is not right for her, she needs to cut him off and look to another. If she decides to marry him despite all the red flags all I can wish her is best of luck |
aresa:The man has done absolutely NOTHING and yet his praise singers would be here singing his praises for non existent projects. What I wonder is HOW he was reelected despite his non performance. |
aresa:Your post makes so much sense and demonstrates how daft and docile Nigerians can be. It never ceases to AMAZE me how Nigerians can be so daft as to support and even defend governors that are obviously not doing anything! @Mmsen aresa WAS NOT attacking you, he was simply stating SOME VERY HARD TRUTHS!!! If you think that Akpabio was such an excellent governor and rendered a good account of his stewardship why not list major projects that he has accomplished ![]() Why do people like you act as though Akpabio is using HIS money to fund these projects? For goodness sake the money that he is blindly stealing belongs TO YOU AND I!!!! IT IS OUR RIGHT TO QUESTION OUR GOVERNORS AND ASK THEM TO ACCOUNT FOR THEIR BUDGETS!! But they would continue to steal us blind as long as we have people who would go about singing their praises when they build one measly stadium. @Mmesan Please stop defending the indefensible. Akpabio has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for Akwa Ibom!!!! |
olas24u:Sister your analysis is SPOT ON!Why do you even try to educate someone who has refused to be educated?? Of course the reason that the Naira is falling is because of our over dependence on foreign imports and fuel. And despite the fact that oil consistently sold at its highest price ever we have ABSOLUTELY nothing to show for it! In fact our foreign reserves are now much lower than when Jonathan entered power and yet some people are so daft as to be saying GEJ till 2019. If Jonathan comes back to power don't be surprised that the Naira would eventually hit N350 to a dollar. If he couldn't manage our resources when oil was selling at over $120 a barrel please how would he be able to manage it now that oil is selling at $30 a barrel? |
Coldfeet:My sister if indeed you have ever left Nigeria, it makes your views even more SHOCKING!!! Even in Ghana, South Africa and Togo their presidents do not use the state's entire police force to move from point A to B! It amazes me when people who ought to know better actually condone wrong doing and worse still call it GOOD. So you apparently think that it is right that 2000 policemen be assigned to guard ONE MAN while leaving the rest of us helpless? You apparently believe that our politicians are GODS and the rest of us are non entities. Are you aware that these policemen are paid with your TAX money? Are you aware that the president is a PUBLIC SERVANT not a PUBLIC GOD? For heavens sake call a spade a spade and stop thinking like a slave! |
Coldfeet:Are you actually calling someone an illiterate?? ![]() Without a shadow of doubt it is pretty obvious that you have NEVER left Nigeria before otherwise you would not be making ASININE comments like this. People like you are the reasons Nigeria is going nowhere because you are so docile that you let politicians get away with murder!! Try traveling to other countries and see the way their presidents are guarded. Whenever Obama visits a state in the US the entire state's police force is not deployed to guard him. And this is the MOST POWERFUL MAN in the world! For heavens sake the British PM occasionally uses public transport!! Ask yourself is Nigeria's president any better than the presidents of these great countries ![]() Apparently you view yourself as a slave hence you see nothing wrong with an entire state's police force being deployed to guard ONLY ONE MAN! Fashola is an EXCELLENT example of how a CIVILIZED PRESIDENT should behave. When he is moving around Lagos he hardly uses sirens and neither does he move around with the entire Lagos Police Force. Is he dead yet? Until we learn to away with our slave mentality and start asking our leaders questions, they would continue to do as they please and lord it over us because we have decided to remain unquestioning sheep in the face of misuse of power |
erico2k2:Sorry to say this Sir but you are talking ABSOLUTE RUBBISH!!!!! You have your voodoo Economics completely upside down. The Naira was not devalued to bring in investment but it was devalued because it could not be supported against the dollar at the old rate. In spite of the fact that we have been selling crude at the highest prices Nigeria has ever seen OUR RESERVES ARE FAR LOWER THAN WHEN JONATHAN ENTERED OFFICE!!! The annoying thing is that instead of people like you to be asking questions about what happened to all our money, you would rather sell yourself to Jonathan for a morsel of bread and then come to Nairaland to post beautiful nonsense. |
blueQueen:Yes you should address it to CIC (not sure it really matters but it is best to be on the safe side.) I addressed my FSWP application last year to CIC |
HugeMac:Of course we all know that Jonathan has laid a foundation for Nigeria. A foundation of ineptitude, colossal corruption and abysmal failure. IS this really the foundation you want Nigeria to build on?? ![]() |
usr249:I sent you a PM |
solomonwis:Thanks Solomon!!! I really appreciate the pro bono work you are doing here to assist us with our inquiries. |
skidmarkz:@Skidmarkz I haven't been issued the visa yet. I first have to do medicals but I do believe that the PR visa lasts for 5 years and it is renewable |
Lenta:@Lenta Thanks for the kind word. My NOC is NOC 2172 (Database Analyst and Administrator) and my visa office is the one in the US because that's where I currently reside. To the best of my knowledge I do not think that they contacted my employers but I may be wrong since the last time I spoke with my ex-boss was when I needed to get the work certificate. Surprisingly they didn't ask for any additional documentation after they received my initial application. I do hope your letter comes in soon. Keep your fingers crossed! |
Hello Guys Just wanted to update the House. I received my invitation for Medicals today and instructions on how to pay the Payment of Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF). I was pretty shocked because i was not expecting it to be ready this quickly. My FSWP timeline is as follows: 1. Oct 15, 2014 Submitted my FSWP application 2. Jan 19, 2015 Received my PER 3. Mar 3, 2015 Invitation for Medicals and payment of Permanent Residence Fee |
erico2k2:And what exactly are you trying to imply? That the UK also suffers from fuel scarcity? Please if you have run out of incredulous lies to tell think of something better!! |
AreaFada2:You said quite a lot in your well worded response but I think you deliberately misrepresented the facts. Let us start with mismanagement of PTF. I have no idea where you got the 25 Billion you alleged Buhari mismanaged under PTF but let us look at how PTF was established. PTF was established using the funds that accrued to government as a result of the fuel increment. Let us remember that what was budgeted for PTF was about 3 Naira (not sure of the exact figure) for every litre of petrol sold. In spite of this "pittance" no single Nigerian can say they were not touched by PTF. A lot of the Federal roads today were tarred by PTF. PTF provided drugs to federal hospitals and equipped virtually all the Federal schools and colleges. Fast forward to today. Jonathan presided at a time when oil prices reached their highest ever price. Nigeria earned enough money to build 30 PTFs and still have change! And what do we have? Second hand coaches and a railway that takes 2 days to get to the North from Lagos! Is this the reason we should be THANKFUL?? Don't you read the news, Sir? Aren't you aware of the MONUMENTAL CORRUPTION that is going on? You also mentioned Nissan. Like seriously? Are we supposed to be doing cartwheels because Nissan built an assembly plani in Nigeria? They didn't even build it, they simply converted an old assembly plant!! Have you forgotten that in the 90s we had Volkswagen, Steyr and Peugeot assembly plants. In any other country the president wouldn't even commission an assembly plant because there is nothing to it. The plant was built by a private company so please stop ascribing it to Jonathan. It is sad that this is the sum of Jonathan's legacy - monumental corruption, a privately owned assembly plant and tokunbo locomotives |
Bro you don't have anything to lose. Your ex's best friend is not the SAME PERSON AS YOUR EX! Setup a date with her and try and ascertain the kind of person she is. What is her value system? What are the most important things in life to her? Take it slowly and endeavour to know who she really is. It is obvious that you like this woman so why would you want to let your ex's past destroy what could possibly be a promising relationship? Please judge her by her own merits and not because she is your ex's friend. Finally if you are a christian pray about it as well. Best of luck Bro! ![]() |
What has happened to Nigerians? Are we so daft that we are ACTUALLY celebrating the fact that it IS ONLY $1.5 Billion that was embezzled? We haven't even seen the full report and we are already celebrating! It PAINS me that Nigerians are SO IGNORANT!! Madame Okonji Iweala actually confirmed that at least $10 billion is unaccounted for and we STILL DON'T KNOW WHERE THAT MONEY IS! And yet we are celebrating!! |
Dear Chad Now that you have effectively shown Nigeria how to deal with the Boko Haram menace that our government has refused to deal with, can you do us one more favor? We also need a president as it is pretty clear that we do not have a president. Can your president come and rule Nigeria? Yours faithfully Concerned Nigerian |
This is completely SHAMEFUL and the height of FOLLY! So we now have to rely on CHAD to win the war against Boko Haram? Chad fighter jets can just waltz into Nigerian airspace and bomb Nigerian villages at will?? Is this what the "giant" of Africa has become? A country too scared to deal with its own problems that it has to go to Chad? The same Chad that we have been giving AID to?? This is simply unbelievable!!!! And to think that Jonathan asked for $1 billion to fortify our army. So the question now is where are the jets, tanks and weapons that were bought with the $1 billion? Or has the money gone to the same place that our $10 billion went? And before the money was approved I said in one of my posts on NL that nothing would come out of the $1 billion. Spending The CIA World Factbook estimates the military budget of Chad to be 4.2% of GDP as of 2006.[1]. Given the then GDP ($7.095 bln) of the country, military spending was estimated to be about $300 million. This estimate however dropped after the end of the Civil war in Chad (2005–2010) to 2.0%[6] as estimated by the World Bank for the year 2011. There aren't any more recent estimates available for 2012, 2013. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_of_Chad Looking at the above we can see that Chad spent only $300 million on their military in 2006 and Nigeria spent over $1 billion in 2006 and yet we DON'T HAVE FIGHTER JETS ? Am i the only one that sees how LUDICROUS this situation is?Year Dollars Spent % GDP 2007 $1,239,000,000 0.6% 2008 $1,741,000,000 0.8% 2009 $1,825,000,000 0.9% 2010 $2,143,000,000 1.0% 2011 $2,386,000,000 1.1% 2012 $2,100,000,000 1.0% culled from http://militarybudget.org/nigeria/ Looking at the statistics in the past 4 years we have spent AT LEAST $10 billion on our military and yet we don't have fighter jets Yet we cannot equip our soldiers?? Yet we need Chad to come and bomb our villages?? $10 billion spent and nothing to show for it?Our situation is like Bill Gates begging an unemployed graduate for $50!! And that is not even to talk about the violation of our sovereign territory as a nation! How can any right thinking Nigerian celebrate another country bombing our villages But this is what the current government in power has reduced us a nation to. A nation of beggars!Isn't it the same Nigerian army that almost single-handedly ended the conflict in Liberia? In a saner climate the president and all the top military brass would all be in jail for criminal corruption! |
bukatyne:This probably the best post I have since so far. Don't get me wrong I am happy for you that your marriage troubles are over but your husband did a very terrible thing. Using sex as a weapon to punish you physically is morally reprehensible even if it is your husband! The act of sex in marriage is meant to be enjoyed and your husband should have exercised patience instead of raping you repeatedly. Till date I have no idea how men enjoy forced sex. How for goodness sake would any man enjoy sex with a woman that is crying? Two wrongs never did and would never make a right. So what happens if you make your husband angry again? Would he rape you to punish you? That said I am glad that you guys have reconciled and I wish you a happy marriage but you guys DEFINITELY have to work on your communication because it is sorely lacking. |
gentleiphy:Ok, looks like we are in the same shoes. I thought you got your PR last year hence the question. The funds in my account is currently not up to the required amount(it was when I submitted the application) so I wanted to have an idea of when they would require an updated Bank statement |
gentleiphy:@gentleiphy My apologies. i actually meant to ask when you got your PER. Also did the visa office request for your bank statement? |
gentleiphy:@gentleiphy When did you get your PR and did the visa office request for a Bank statement? |
walesege:I now understand what you mean. Unfortunately you cannot get a US clearance certificate in Lagos as the only acceptable clearance certificate is the FBI issued one. You would have to apply to the FBI with a set of your fingerprints. I would advise that you get your fingerprints taken in a police station in Nigeria in order to ensure that you get valid fingerprints. I got my US clearance certificate before this new 14 weeks development. The earlier you send your request to the FBI, the better. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks/submitting-an-identity-history-summary-request-to-the-fbi http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp The links above should help |
walesege:Wale your questions are a little bit confusing and you need to clarify what exactly you are trying to do. You cannot possibly get a USA police clearance in Nigeria. Did you stay in the USA and you now need a police clearance certificate? |
Hi Guys I just checked my mail and saw my PER. I sent in my application on the 9th of October and my account was debited December 18, 2014. Just like Solomonwis said it is being done in batches so if your account has been debited you would most likely receive your PER soon |
ROSSIKE:I noticed that you could not reply Eziachi's post so it is probably true that you are just a paid stooge. Since you do not trust the CNN report who do you trust? The Government? the Army? NTA? The Government: Let us not even talk about their atrocious blunders and REFUSAL to tackle Boko Haram headlong. Have you forgotten that Shettima Yusuf an alleged sponsor of Boko Haram was NEVER investigated? rather your president had dinner with him in Chad! Or when the government told us that nobody was kidnapped? The Army: They lied and told us Boko Haram signed a ceasefire. They lied and said Shekau was killed. They also lied about the Chibok girls. Are they the people we should trust? NTA: What a laugh!!!! Have you ever seen any NTA reporter reporting the Boko Haram atrocities? The only thing threy know how to report are political campaigns. At the very least the Western media had the guts to send out their journalists to the frontlines to gather news about Boko haram. So YES I and a million others would rather believe CNN than anything related to our government(They still haven't told us where our missing $20 billion is) |
duni04:Dude come on! Give credit where it is due for heavens sake! Everybody knows that Fashola performed and is probably the best EVER governor Lagos state has ever produced. I stayed in Surulere as well and are you forgetting that Fashola expanded Adeniran Ogunsanya road? What about the link bridge for Aguda to Okota? And these are just a few of the roads I am aware of cos time wouldn't permit me to list all the roads he either built or repaired. Let me not even talk about other things that he did. |
rawtruth:Dude the General's response made ABSOLUTELY no sense at all, period!!! I believe you know what it means to read between the lines. He basically accused her of LYING!! And he is supposed to be the Army's public relations officer! |
xcolanto:If i say that your parents wasted money in sending you to school it would sound like I am insulting you. However your post is completely ludicrous and an INSULT to anybody with half a brain. However I still took time out to address the fallacies you wrote since it is pretty clear that you are paid to write misinformed inanities. |
