thirdpage: Guys please assist:
As a student on F1 visa, what's the minimum cash to hold and feel safe such that CBP won't raise eye.
Also my destination is Delaware but I'll be entering via Washington Dulles {2 hours drive from the school}.
My friend who stays in Maryland {1 hour+ from Dulles and 1 hour from my school in delaware} will pick me up at the airport. Is it safe to tell CBP this?
I need your advice, thanks! Since you will be living in U.S for a long time I will suggest you have enough in cash (more than $1500) and put the rest in your card. About your friend, you should know how he got into U.S (hope he's not living in U.S illegally) and hope you've secured your accommodation? |

AfonjaBoston: So you think the consular officers have not seen cases where husband or wife goes to the USA divorces their naija spouse, contracts a sham marriage for the purpose of legalizing a stay, then remarries previous spouse and files for them to go to the USA or previous spouse applies for visiting based on what you said gets to the USA and remarries former spouse?
My dear, America's immigration system is a shithole
Fact she knows where he is will count against her. (Psych 101) since she is claiming abandonment They would wanna see call logs etc. Bad mouthing will be a very poor strategy Hnmmmmmmm another angle. |

Glamgurl: Thanks to everyone for the responses. I don't have reasons to lie. I don't intend to relocate to the US. I have a good job here in Nigeria. The first time I went to the US, the officer at Abu Dhabi where we had our layover asked me of my ex hbands where about and I said I didn't know. He then confirmed to me that he got in on so so so date. I dont know if he recorded my statement of not knowing his whereabout. As at that time he had not overstayed so we were allowed in. The 2nd time I travelled, he had overstayed and I went to the US and came back after 3 weeks. If I wanted to remain in the US, I wouldn't have come back the 2nd time. Me not reporting me is ignorance, I didn't know it could affect me and my child's renewal in any way. I pray for God's mercy. I was just a victim of a bad marriage. A marriage I entered with good intent not knowing the other party had ulterior motive. Thanks once again everyone. Now that we've settled that... I will like to give you a clue on what to do. Before the start of interview after giving the V.O your passport make sure you informed the V.O about your husband and if possible get a divorce or a legal paper attesting to the fact that you're no longer together... disengage/remove yourself and your children from him/ (his profile) completely, this may swing the odds in your favor because, your only advantage is traveling to U.S and returning to Nigeria. Be strategic and good luck.... remember to share your transcript. |

LadyGuinivere: Remember, this is my opinion. Remember, posts are for different point of views. Remember, there's a caveat at the end of my post clearly reminding the op I am not a vo. Remember, this is a thread for folks to give you different things to mull on...
Oh, yes you are correct about that law cited. However, at the US embassy, everyone is presumed to be an intending migrant and have to prove otherwise. If she cared about her chances and renewal, she should have reported the visa misuse since it was tied to hers. That's the same reasoning behind the CIC Canada banning every other person attached to anyone application when the main applicant misrepresents. It sounds harsh but, Ummmm I have seen and heard of spouses reporting their spouses misuse. If she had thrown him under the bus, she wouldn't have to answer these questions.
It's not as easy as saying, he's an adult and thats it. They are still legally married. He's already in the US. Do you think a reasonable vo would now inadvertently "reunite " them. I am not here to bash anyone (unless there's need IMHO) but to point out facts that Nigerians like to ignore. She's here to seek visa advice, that's what I gave not emotional advice. The embassy also dosent do emotions. Not with Nigerians and our shenanigans. I wish she will come back and post later. I would like to learn. We're too emotional in Nigeria and we get carried away easily... How can a Man abscond and you did not report him to the people that provided him with the visa? it is very simple, you will need to convince the V.O that you have no tie with him anymore and also you should have reported the man at the POE not because you hated him but because after 6 months he won't be able to leave the U.S, so you not reporting him is at your own disadvantage not his. He won't return to Nigeria and your chances of getting your visa renewed is in Jeopardy. I pray they renew it and I hope we all learn from this. Good luck and this is where you need prayers. |

tppzzy01: I so much àppreciate ur response. Thank u so much. It means I cannot overstay when I get there and also if I don't know anyone there I cannot stay there permanently? If the above is the case, then, how can I migrate to USA permanently without knowing anyone there? You need to re-read my statement again... ''You can't migrate to U.S permanently on a visiting visa'' it is illegal so becareful. I will make no further comment. |

jazzy: Hi Guys,
This is me just sharing my POE story, its been a while we had any. I shared my Visa story in the USA Visa visit thread a while back. i was supposed to go on vacation in May but work took me to another country so, i had to push it till the end of July. I bought a return ticket through Etihad in May. After i bought the ticket, i was sorta regretting buying it because of the long transit time that came with that particular ticket and all the gist about the US preclearance at Abu Dhabi but in hindsight, it was one of the best decisions i'd made actually.
Things arent as bad as people have been portraying them to be, at least i didnt see them drive anyone back. As always just be truthful and move on. Currently in NJ and loving it. 1st time here, definitely would be back.
XOXO Nice one, I've heard a lot of good things about Abu Dhabi Preclearance lately. Enjoy your holiday bro. |

tppzzy01: Are u telling me the truth? Can we get this straight. You cannot migrate to U.S of A on a visitor/tourist/business visa... it is illegal, if you know anyone doing it IT IS ILLEGAL. If you want to move to U.S legally, You can do it by applying for the appropriate category of Migrant visa but unfortunately we can't advise you on that here because this thread is for Non Immigrant visa i.e For those with intention of returning to Nigeria when/after they visit U.S) |

kaampe1: Good day house Pls I will to know how to go about this return ticket thing. If you intend staying back for like 3-5months, is it advisable to buy a return ticket for that long considering the fact that you applied for a visa with the intention of attending a conference for just 2 weeks. Wont it be an issue at Poe because I can see here most plan to to stay for just few weeks. With the way things are at the moment... do you want to risk it and remember this may affect your dropbox renewal... This is my opinion. |

tppzzy01: Hello here. Thanks for the great unpaid job u all are doing here, solving technical issues and putting smiles on peoples face. Pls, I would like to consult this great forum on this issue. 1. Of course, I know I can get visa for first attempt without a travel history, but however, I don't know my chances of getting the visa if I apply without my wife and kids(3kids) because of financial strength... I am a married businessman with a monthly take home of average 250k per month which is my gain. But I want to set the ground running first before I will bring in my family along with me over there, which my wife is consented in.
Note: I ask this question because I read somewhere here where a married couple of 4 kids were denied visa because they did not take along 3 of their kids. Pls am applying for tourist visa Do you have plan to move to U.S later with your family... I mean later later ooo |

yominent: Hello house, want to narrate my story and wish you guys can assist with an idea and ways i can go about my next interview. In 2013 i merged with a lady that won visa lottery,on the interview day the consular discovered that i personally won visa lottery too but i won as single(not married)in short we were denied and the guy said we have been banned from playing visa lottery. Because of the fear since 2013 i decided not to apply. I got a job with an audit firm that same year with good salary and married 2016 but told my wife to apply alone and she didnt fill my name as her husband as advised by agent unforunately she was denied.
Now we have both travelled to south africa last month with our daughter and we wanted to apply for US now for 2weeks vaction. I know my chance is slim but just want to seek for advise here. Assist look into my case plzz WILL IT BE A CRIME IF I TELL THE INTERVIEWER THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED THEN THAT I WAS HUSTLING AND WAS DESPERATE TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY THEN THAT WAS WHAT LEAD TO THE FALSE WEDDING IN 2013 OR WHAT DO U GUYS THINK. You won't get a visa and I'm sure you're still banned. I have to be honest with you I don't believe you will return to Nigeria if you get the Visa because you think South African trip history is enough to clean your misdeed. I will advise you to cool down. |

You need not throw him under the Bus. You even quotes the Bible... ...caste the first stone bro. ...if your hands are clean. We are here to learn and help one another to derogate anyone So for your mind you think he won't abuse the term of the visa when he get... traveling to South Africa changes nothing... He will have to do better than that. |

barkays001: Hello guys, a friend of mine got his Canadian citizenship revoked and is planning to visit usa. I want to ask if there's a possibility for him to get Visa. He had been to the United states many times before the revocation. My questions are:, is he going to tell them he has been to usa before and also where they asked have you hold or held citizenship of another country besides Nigeria? Please I want the gurus in the house to assist me with possible answers. Please give us the full story, like why his Citizenship was revoked and why is he eager to visit U.S so fast? You should know that the moment he applied for U.S Visa, is Canadian history will come up even without him telling them (The two countries share info about applicant). |

Nkaluu800: My friend in Texas just told me that America is an overrated country in terms of tourist attractions. Pretty soon the quest for US visa from Nigeria will drastically reduce... Believe me. My B2 interview appointment comes up in September and I can tell you for free that I already have plan A, B, C in place should anything contrary to what I expect pop up. What is going on presently is a script well written out from the White House...when you have a commander in chief who ahbors and discriminate against black Americans, then what do you expect as an African? Besides, with the way trump is going about his anti immigration policies.... I foresee a one term presidency. President Trump did not send us to cross over to Canada or to misuse our visit visa, guess what South African still enjoys 1-10yrs visa duration/validity with U.S. I don't hear about Rwandans complaining about U.S Visa it is always the West Africans and we all know why. One more thing U.S may not be the best in terms of tourism but everyone will like to visit U.S at least once in their lifetime. |
