Threebear: A wise man once said, the less you talk, the wiser you seem. All this long jargon could have been avoided if he simply didn't talk about the type of wedding he preferred. Now he not only sounds like a hypocrite, he sounds like confused man too. The fact he didn't weigh that his parents and that of his bride would love to be involved in planning of the wedding makes him sound even more foolish. The truth is that you don't repay your parents by having a big wedding, you repay them by being responsible, succeeding, raising a family and taking care of them when they begin to age. When you say you did a big wedding to pay them back because of how good they were to you, did you consider that there are people without money and such do not have the luxury of having big weddings, are you trying to say they are not impressing their family and relatives too? Mr man wise up and bridle your tongue, know what to say and when to say it. You've already said that you are now responsible for the rest of your lives (which is already headed downwards because of your wife's recently released nude picture and subsequent overexposure) I hope one of your agenda will be saying much less than you should. Robert Greene 48 laws of power... Always say less than you should. There is mystery in silence and mystery commands respect. OMG What's your own.He did not have a big wedding to reward his parents. He said they have their own demands as well and it's also their day too. |

Threebear: Women are so senseless, he used you, dumped you, had a string of baby mamas along the way and follows you on ig and the next week you're partying with him. You need a brain transplant. No, what we have here is actually two people that used themselves and possibly wasted their time 5 years ago. Unless their new reunion is sincere, I'm afraid it's another waste of time, hopefully it won't be till year 2023. |

It's scary how delusional some fundamentalist christians can be and this mentality has crippled a lot of young folks that are meant to have the passion and ambition to impact their world.
Secular sucess is not at odds with spiritual success.
For example, people say it's God that put Trump there for a reason.
Is it not God that put Nigeria, Grenada, Spain rulers there for an ultimate reason as well? But that does not mean human should not do their part.
I've even heard a Pastor that said "Slavery is good, because it allowed black people to be in America today" Really!! Does he even know that slavery and colonialism were the two greatest factor that underdeveloped Africa. When the whole world were exchanging ideas and technology in the late 19th and early 20th century, Africa was a continent kept in the hands of European countries as a colony for profit and the exchange of goods and services were parasitic on the part of African countries. |

I have a very close white friend who we seem to have a lot in common! He knows a lot about Nigeria cos his Dad was an expatriate during Obasanjo's Era and he once lived in Abuja. He picks me up at least twice a week in his Jaguar & Ferarri and tries to hook me up with white babes advertising me like a product Good.If you noticed my earlier comment.I said enlightened. When they are exposed and have seen how other people live, they seem fine. I envy you with all the babe's. LOOL Enjoy! |

UKmigrant: Things we have to endure living in a shared house. So far, these are the bullshits I have been enduring:
1. One of my housemates told me to please walk more slowly and gently while climbing stairs as it disturbs her downstairs.
2. One of the bottles of wine I kept in the fridge went missing, my fruits go missing too.
3. One told me to always close the kitchen door when cooking as the smell makes him uncomfortable.
4. A note was left by a housemate to keep the TV volume down between a certain time as she would be doing a nightshift and needed to sleep.
5. Another note on the kitchen sink by one that she doesn't share her mugs, plates and spoons.
6. Constant triggering of the fire alarms almost everyday depending on who is cooking.
7. Housemates not willing to clean the common areas.
8. Housmates ignoring you when they drive by even when they see you on the roadside in the rain.
9. One asked me, I heard you're some kind of professional, what do you really do
10. Most never remember my name
11. There is a whatsapp group for us, we're just four in the house, but no one responds to any questions you post on it. They're all whites by the way.
12. If you don't bring out your clothes from the washing machine on time, they just evacuate it and dump on a dirty surface for you rather than tell you even though you just saw each other seconds ago.
13. Waiting to use the bathroom especially in the mornings and skipping shower sometimes to avoid being late to work.
I'll add more if I can think of anything else.
So it's not all rosy No 12. is so true. Be careful and don't assume that they have your back in the normal Naija brother to brother way. They get irritated easily and don't forgive trespasses. The forgetting name part is bad and means they care less about you. I don't mean to discourage you bro.I'm sure you'll meet or have already met some really nice and enlightened white people as well. |

UKmigrant: Also, I was able to open an account with HSBC after calling to schedule an appointment, someone at the HR dept of my work place placed the call and introduced me before handing me the phone. The call lasted for almost an hour because they kept transfering my call to other agents and each of them was asking me the same stupid questions over and over again. They asked for my work contract, my passport, residence permit, and proof of address.
I finally got to the bank at the scheduled time and the whole thing lasted for about an hour. The customer service agent explained to me the different kinds of accounts. They also offered me a credit card and said I can borrow up to 1500 pounds for a start with no interest if I pay up all I borrowed within a month and also that I can make an overdraft of 2500 pounds on my debit card. They told me my borrowing limit will keep increasing as my credit dcore increases and that all I have to do to avoid being charged interests on credit card spendings and overdrafts. He also advised that I use my credit card as often as posssible, but that I should always be paying up within a month to avoid being charged interests and to also improve my credit score in case I want to apply for a mortgage or car loan later.
I just love the way you tell your stories.
I was given my account number there and then and also had my internet banking activated. He told me to expect my debit and credit cards delivered in 2 to 3 working days at my address. |

naptu2: Beyond that, most of the famous and historical infrastructure projects were either built, conceived or completed during his tenure.
He completed the Kainji Dam, commissioned the Volkswagen factory (a joint venture between the Federal Government, Lagos State Government and Volkswagen of Germany), rebuilt Carter Bridge and built Eko Bridge and the National Stadium. His policies also led to the establishment of other car assembly plants like PAN in Kaduna and Anamco in Enugu (in 1969 the government developed plans to set up car plants across the country, in conjunction with foreign car makers, in order to fully manufacture cars in Nigeria. That's one of the reasons they conceived the Ajaokuta project).
His government concieved the Ajaokuta Steel Mill, the Third Mainland Bridge and the National Arts Theatre.
These are just a few examples of what he did.
Pictures below
1 & 2) General Gowon commissions the Volkswagen plant in Lagos.
3) General Gowon commissions the Kainji Dam. Seated behind him are Vice Admiral Wey (chief of staff, supreme headquarters) and Sir Adetokunboh Ademola (chief justice of Nigeria). Thank you for educating folks here. I can't believe some people here are saying he did nothing. |

Thank you o What makes a man rich in life are: Hard-work, Persistence, Opportunity ceased/Some call it luck, Coming from a family with top socioeconomic connections, Wealthy background, Entrepreneurship, Quality education, Right opportunity etc. If those things are lacking, pay tithe till tomorrow, you will still be poor.
