Eviana:
Finallydead,
Yes, there was a thread on this topic a few months ago and I purposely chose to stay silent.
Just happened to see this the other day and decided to give a female's perspective on it.
I think we're gonna ultimately have to "agree to disagree".
Sorry for using Ahab/Jezebel. I was trying to show what happens when a man doesn't stand in his head-ship. Ahab was wrong from the beginning because he chose to marry a non-believer. He paid dearly for that decision.
I know Joyce Meyer's ministry and Paula White.
I wasn't aware that Joyce Meyer was a pastor, but I know that Paula White is.
I don't suscribe to the "prosperity gospel", so I would fundamentally have an issue with both of the ladies' ministries. They also have some theological issues that cause me concern.
Anyhow, I know that women can and do serve mightily in many areas of the church as well as outside ministries.
I do not believe that women are called to "pastor" churches. I am sorry, but I do not.
I do not believe that women are called to be bishops or elders either (1 Tim. 3 KJV)

I think culture has influenced the church more than the church has influenced the world.
If the culture back then allegedly held women back from serving in certain positions, then the cultute of today has moved in the opposite extreme. That tells me that "culture" cannot be trusted. I believe God's order...which has never changed.
The ironic thing is that I have been called a "feminist", "controlling", "want to be the husband in a relationship" etc., right here on Nairaland simply because I have a "voice/opinion" and I express it. I just laugh to myself, because folks don't know me.
Call me crazy, but I think a sincere Godly man walking humbly yet confidently through Christ Jesus in his calling, in anyplace, is close to perfection. I happen to believe though, that a few "callings" (especially the pastoral ministry) in a church setting are reserved from men...and I really like that.
What the "world" deems as equality is not the same manner that Christ views church structure.
It's okay for women NOT to do every job that a man does or feel that she has to have the same calling as a man. Women are still viewed as equal in God's eyes. We just have different functions.
I do not care for titles because oftentimes they produce pride and arrogance.
I am actually very comfortable with serving/ministering in the background.
I will check out the woman pastor that you suggested I research.
I like how you stated your perspective even I don't fully agree.

Please check out Rev. Mrs. Oyenike Areogun.

God2man:
God can use anybody, anything at any point in time. He is sovereign, you cannot say, this is how you want him to move. Paul was speaking to women that were not walking in the doctrine of the Apostle, the same new testament, Acts2:17-18, you will see how God promised to pour his spirit on all flesh, it says "your daughters shall prophecy". You see, there are principles for interpretation of the scriptures. You do not interpret scripture on the surface like that, you need to go deep in prayer and revelations. God bless you. God2man.
Well said.

TravelRe: Nigerians Abroad, How Do You Cope With The Coronavirus Issue? by sholay2011(m): 8:29pm On Mar 23, 2020
Reporting from Manitoba. Our Premier declared a state of emergency yesterday for the Province. Just 20 confirmed cases of the COVID but no one is taking chances.

In fact, I have been home for a week now and it seems it will remain so till April ending...and I'm tired of home already! We are still allowed to go to grocery stores, pharmacies etc. but many are working from home while some still go to work. Schools are closed and lectures are online.

It was weird doing church service online yesterday as a gathering of 50 or more people has been officially banned for the next 28 days or so in my Province or you risk 6 months jail or $50K bail.

When the virus outbreak started in Canada at Ontario, people here were still going about their normal business. I also was still going to work. The day a case was confirmed in Manitoba and by evening, it turned to three...oh boy, that was when panic started and people started buying food and toilet paper in bulk. I got to the grocery stores after work that Thursday and couldn't find toilet paper or hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol or face mask! I had to buy hand wash. The funny thing is the whites were more panicked in my opinion than we Nigerians here probably because the latter believe in God. Oyinbo no wan die oh.

You go to a grocery store now and you see someone walking beside you, adorned in mask and gloves, giving you one kind look like you are a COVID suspect. I also will return the look sef. Who knows who is carrying it?

Psalm 91:10 is my sure word though.

I haven’t been to an Italian restaurant recently. And that was next on our to-go list since we are sampling whatever piques our interest.

I’ll just stay away from the Italians for now.

I had some Indian few days ago. It was sublime.
Indian food is second only to Nigerian food.
With Chinese in third place.

Maybe it’s because of nurture but Nigerian food has been the winner in my opinion
My ranking:

Nigerian food
Chinese food
Thai food/Indian food
.

.
.
Oyinbo food (except some special cases).

3) eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon and hollandaise sauce.
4) char broiled steak on coleslaw.

Abeg stay safe and stay away from those tempting Italian restaurants for now. Keep posting from your kitchen. grin

I sort of had a dream. I am not sure it was even a dream because it was like I felt the presence there right there with me while I was asleep. My eyes were closed and just felt someone pour oil over my head. When I woke up eventually, I didn't see any oil in my head though.
Christianity EtcRe: How Pastors Become Super Rich by sholay2011(m): 2:51pm On Mar 11, 2020
Ladylite:
As intelligent as this posts seem. You need to know the bitter truth.

I will give half of my wealth any day to any pastor, prophet or person who can solve my plenty problems and get me to the level I need to be in life.

That is how the pastors you are accusing get rich, they solve problems. Without solving problems, you would need jazz to put a spell on large crowds to keep following you.

Solve problems consistently and don't collect tithe or offerings..... You will get gifts more than tithes and offerings, direct gifts in appreciation of what you do.

Thats all
God bless you. You nailed it. If only the OP knows tithes and offerings are mostly used to maintain church running costs and help the needy amongst the brethren. The so-called wealth is by helping people attain destiny. If I become a billionaire tomorrow with the prayers and advice and guidance of a Pastor, why will it be too much to give the man of God a $1 million gift?

Everybody should just face their own salvation and guard it with fear and trembling. I am not here for these smear campaigns against some men of God. Christianity has bigger fishes to fry and all these further cause divisions.

OP should repent.

Christianity EtcRe: Help! I Can't Pray For A Long Period by sholay2011(m): 8:07pm On Mar 08, 2020
@IntroVAT

Pray to God and walk up to your Pastor to be baptized in the Holy Ghost. Once you're baptized, one of the evidences is speaking in tongues.

The Bible says we don't know how to pray but the Spirit helps us to pray to the Father according to His will. Speaking in tongues helps you pray longer, and not limited by your knowledge of what you think you need.

Then have a consistent prayer schedule every day (or night). You can even start with 10 mins every day. You will be surprised how your prayer life will gradually improve (alongside speaking in tongues) that you soon pray for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 90 minutes, 2 hours, 3 hours etc.

The things of the Spirit are not acquired by human determination. And don't let anyone deceive you here that even if you pray for just 2 minutes, it's all the same thing. IT IS NOT. God is looking for His children that are willing to communicate with him AND ALSO LISTEN TO HIM FOR FEEDBACK AND INSTRUCTIONS.

Prayer is first a mode of communication to our Father, before it is a spiritual exercise.
