TV/MoviesRe: METAMORPHOSIS - 4 Characters In 2 Minutes - Acting Skills by sholay2011(m): 10:11am On May 15, 2013
VillageBoi: True but I think it sells both. The costumes + make-up help sell each character to us; to me it's more than just him changing his voice. Most of 'our' actors are exactly the same no matter what make-up or costume they wear.
True word cool
TV/MoviesRe: METAMORPHOSIS - 4 Characters In 2 Minutes - Acting Skills by sholay2011(m): 5:26am On May 15, 2013
lol...this is quite nice. he even changed his voice for each xter. This video also reminds us of the importance of make-up wc I think this video sells rather than acting. it really helps us to believe our actors as the xters they are playing. nice one.

Whether the idea of the talent hunt is original or not isn't my concern. But, don't we have enough talent shows already? undecided

Can't people come up with shows like debates on reasonable topics that are of concern, maths quiz etc., just lyk dat Zain Africa challenge?

Entertainment is a secondary thing to the economy, whether we agree or not. Let's promote shows that also encourage knowledge and scholastic abilities.

We don sabi say we get talent for naija die!

JayDawg: I'm a director and I haven't seen one post that impresses me. I wont even bother to see all your 'awesome' scripts from what you wrote here. Lack of film terminology already tells me you're all amateurs. "i have a very good script, my script is something you've never seen etc" Hisss fraudsters!See that one with all his yeye characters, the whole thing no make sense. Una dey ask for money already, unserious ppl!

This is a movie in a sentence - A teenage boy faces a fight for survival when he is stranded aboard a life boat with a tiger. Gbam! No need for long story. You yeye writers havent even asked what genre of movie the producer wants, just dey shout I have the best script. See your mouths like script hisssss
Lol...bro, take it easy. Not everyone saw the need to post a logline. And that doesn't mean there are no good scriptwriters here. By God's grace, I dey try.

But btw, which movie have you directed sir? Please, tell us the title so I can see it to see 'how gud u are' and 'hw much u used film terminologies'. grin Bro, if I discover say u be one of dose Iweka Road onitsha movie directors, then, u re in for smth. grin

TV/MoviesRe: Journey To Self Premieres May 10th [read Storyline] by sholay2011(m): 7:28pm On May 06, 2013
tony ayo: When will Nigerian writers be original for once. I see a Nigerian version of Desperate House Wives with a little twist, with the storyline read, the movie don't deserve to be viewed in Cinemas and the producer know it. As for me...I ain't watching.
Lol...wicked pesin...I get what you are saying...Uche reminds you of 'Mary Alice', while others are 'Susan', 'Gabrielle', 'Bree' and 'Lynette'. grin

But I would still lyk to watch it. The inspiratn from the story may be from 'Desperate Housewives' (which I don't tink makes it less-original), but the way things happened and interplay may be quite different.

Abeg, no judge dis film by its cover...biko.Pls try watching dis naija version.

VillageBoi: Not commented on this because I'm still not sure what it is.

Does anyone know if this is the filming of a stage show or specifically an excerpt of Macbeth made as a short Nigerian film?
I think it should be the latter, Villageboi.

By the way, this lady in the cast 'Kemi lala-Akindoju' is extremely talented. She is very sound on stage. She is among Naija's best actresses, though she maynot be a movie star yet.

Please, enjoy this dialogue I drafted for the purpose of this thread:

IYA DELE: ah ah, se ko si? Hope no problem?

DELE: Rara ma. Em, it was headmaster that flogged me at skul today for not paying up school fees. He threatened us not to come to skul tomorrow except we come with it.

IYA DELE: Aww, pele omo mi. Sorry, ehn? That your headmaster is wicked oo. Doesn't he know how hard it is to get 10000 naira in this present Nigerian economy? Sorry my dear. There is no harm in you staying at home for a while. You can even use that time to rest till your father gets money. Okay? (Dele nods quickly).

IYA DELE: you can even stroll with me to farm tomorrow, okay? That's how you become a very strong man.(Dele nods.)

IYA KUNLE: Ah, Iya Dele, e kasan.

IYA DELE: E kasan ma, e n le. A ma rii yin. Hope no problem?

Charles Shaw: NL is a faceless forum where one can entertain all sorts of comments.
Besides, comments am reading r simply for Kicks,
So why r sum peeps acting all rigid?
Make me wanna puke @ ur inflexibility
Charles Okafor abi shaw...(Wateva)...u re right dat NL is a faceless forum but dat doesn't mean ppl shud just spew trash about their fellow human beings, jokingly or nt. Not everyone has d patience for such display of stewpidity.

Calling ppl 'animals' is out of d park and doesn't go down well with ppl dat have 'self esteem', weda it's a joke or not.

It's not even child-like, but rather childish. I can't believe these are people that would soon be fathers, uncles etc. and can't treat ppl with respect, even amdist 'yabbing'.

Come on, I fit do 'aro' naa...(Evri OAU stdnt shud undastand dat)...but I believe every conversatn here shud come with a level of maturity, either witty or not.

Nevertheless, I won't forget this is a faceless forum where any godamn person dat can press keyboard can comment, so, it's left for the sane ones to ignore and continue life...as if all is well.

Afam4eva: Why do you think so? It seems SHOLAY was the last Bollywood movie you watched.
Lol...your reply is quite creative. I've seen 'Three idiots', 'slumdog millionaire', 'don', 'robot' etc.

But I must say, Hollywood is far ahead of them due to many factors such as culture. They rarely perfect romance like it's supposed to be, not that I blame them, but I don't just buy it.

The way they do their action movies shows they are still behind hollywood, though kudos to their effort.

The way they insert songs to movies anyhow makes me lose track of the flow of the movie somtyms. And surprisingly, evrione seems to know d dance moves for any song, including passers-by.

Their plot is very nice but the way it's told I must say it's not good enough, at least from my perspective. Holywood knows how to tell a cliche story in different amazing ways.

There are other reasons also but not to write an epistle (which I sense I've written already grin), let me stop here.

But nevertheless, I love bollywood too.

LiteratureRe: Adichie Focuses On Nigeria's Present For Novel by sholay2011(m): 3:23pm On May 03, 2013
shymexx: Age is nothing when it comes to literature and Ben won the Booker Prize(the alternative to the Nobel Prize) with The Famished Road in 1991... However, the debate is about who the best writer is... and Ben Okri is miles ahead of Adichie...

You don't really get that African realism/spiritualism/"culturism"/traditionalism mixed with modern fiction with Adichie's style... and that's what separates African writers from the rest of the world - the ability to mix Africanism and modernism to tell a story with international appeal...
Chairman, go siddon joor. We get it, you are Ben Okri's ardent fan. U re comparing him to our 35-yr old Chimamanda. Abegi! Age does not really mean your works become better per se; but it matters. Ben Okri is 54 for crying out loud.

shymexx: The storyline and concept won't win her any awards...

She needs to write about violence/controversies... Boko haram would be a great subject matter IMO... Controversy/violence sells - hence why her "Half of a Yellow Sun" was/is a bestseller...
You will be surprised but this book would win awards. Just wait and see. cool
