I am also a Yoruba but GOD! We really need to step up the game. What's with all these trashy films with IQ-reducing titles? Koffy Tinubu? Amope Alasela? Mama insurance? Gucci girls? Are these people for real?

And I bet over 50 per cent of these movies had a plot where the herbalist was the final solution to the whole imbroglio. I'm not saying they shouldn't portray our tradition but is that how we quickly rush to herbalists each time we have a problem? People who haven't been to Nigeria may have that perception.

I must say, Yoruba film industry has a long way to go especially because some people are highly revered in the industry probably because of their lengthy stay but they know little-than-nothing in making a good movie at this age.

They would write sickening stories that would continually throw one into the dark ages. What happened to Yoruba book adaptations? Many wonderful books are left lying fallow like Agbako nile tete, Ogbon ologbon, Eegun Alare etc. Thank God for mainframe (Tunde Kelani), books like Koseegbe and Oleku have been adapted well to our screens.

They really need to step their game up and quit all these annoying storylines with mediocre acting, especially when trying to do what they call comedy instead of 'silly moving pictures'. All of them rushed into making them immediately they saw that 'Jenifa' was successful. God! Lete just stop my rant here because I have desisted from watching Yoruba films except for few cases. I can still promote the Yoruba culture without all these (Kunle Afolayan does that with almost all his movies). I rest my case.

Btw OP, paragraph your post and arrange the nominees very well, this is an eyesore.

@OP, Even though I admire your sarcasm, I thought this thread was actually to enlighten me until I opened it and saw all this. Well, good for you. (And I guess you are talking about alaba movies and not cinema ones).
Let's see how it plays out anyway.

As for Delish, her fellow girls are already suggesting everybody do their dishes so they will see how she will do hers.

The underlying tension in the house will certainly erupt after the eviction.

I'm liking Nando, Bassey, Oneal and Kutkeso by the second.

I have a feeling Bolt is a bully. angry
Abeg....Dellish would very well last in the house...you will see. What would actually cause tension as the weeks roll by is the nomination, eviction, head of house, who replaced me with someone else or not, and so on.

Also, couples would soon be formed. It takes Africa's mercy for a housemate standing alone to survive but if he / she survives, that may be the winner or at least a finalist (remember Ofunneka). So, the way housemates bond would create a greater crack than 'she didn't wash plates or she did'....lol.

We may be in for a shock at the end of the day as regards who stays. BBA isn't a movie and so anybody can win and also spoil their chances of winning.

And isn't it too early to judge housemates already with about 4 days out of 91?
TV/MoviesRe: Big Brother Africa "The Chase" Official Thread by sholay2011(m): 10:53pm On May 29, 2013
Belovedd: I think Melvin stands a very good chance and he is playing the game well. he doesn't get into confrontations and he is cool with everyone plus he is a hottie. you need to find out what other countries think about him. the other 'more interesting' housemates are already setting themselves up for failure.
I agree with the above. I also believe housemates that are not too noticed though not out-of-the-pack like bimp, dellish would be threats later.

I f**ing love dat movie! Mixture of comedy and sensible drama. Check out the authentic acting...especially my darling-Jennifer Lawrence (she won best actress oscar for this at age 22). Please, sit down again, close the doors and ensure your laptop is charged, then open not your eyes alone but also your ears grin, try to get those words as they slither through the mouth of the characters even if they talk too fast cheesy...lol...just pulling ya legs but I love that film!

gistyinka: It is sad news again for the bankers workers again in Nigeria, Thousand of banker are now out of jobs

According to news going viral now, two top trouble banks, Ecobank and Diamond bank plc have laid off thousands of their workers.

In early May, over 147 staff were sacked from Ecobank after they’re tagged as non-performing workers.

The laid off employees of the Ecobank find the non-performing label offensive and have vowed to sue the bank.

In another development, Diamond bank have fired 2000 staff over low patronage.

The sacked employees of Diamond bank were not given any notice…They were surprised to hear that the bank no longer needs their service.

The employees stormed the premises of Diamond bank in Abuja on May 15th to protest their lay off.

There is nothing like having a business of your own in any country you find yourself.

Hope those workers can find something to sustain themselves in the main time.

http://www.gistyinka.com/ecobank-sacked-147-workers-diamond-bank-fired-2000-staff/
I knew this thread would still result to this short-sighted statement from a small mind. And who are those that would be the employees if everyone is an employer? And mind you, not everyone is cut out for entrepreneurship. And when you make profit from your business, do you keep it in your house? And when you get to the bank, does the GM attend to you? I am not an employee (yet grin) but your statement reeks of ignorance sir.

But I do not believe your stance about the adage. I have seen marriages less than one year crash because of finances. Just thank God that yours did not end that way.
You've spoken well cool

greatgod2012: grin grin
hehehe, sholay, there is difference btwn borrow me money, i will refund it on so-so date and give me money, i dont have anything on me.
Although, both are forms of assistance one can be in need of, but when the helper is now taken as fool, what do you thinkhuh
Now, get this right, i didnt open a thread because he was assisted, i did because i think we were played on. One thing im certain of, is that, if the man had asked to be given some money, we would definately had given him without expecting refund. Also, if he was just saying..."i dont forget o, pls, give me more time", we would have concluded that he is yet to be capable of paying, and i wouldnt have thought that we were taken as fools.
Well, that is bygone now, and im sure that one or two people would have learnt something from that thread.
May God help us all.
I sure did. cool

And wat I meant by 'you won't have to open a thread abt me on NL' is that I will surely pay you back and not try to play hide and seek with your money. Tho, na joke I dey joke sha. May God help us all. grin
