@speedyboi...Yeah...thanks for reminding me. 'Maami' kinda struck some emotional chords in me, though, it was made too 'obvious' in the movie that they want to draw emotions...lol. |
speedyboi: wao...going through comments ....*sighs*. Sholay no tell me say na when i just follow u go now stop posting scripts? ![]() |
I just saw the movie entitled 'Les miserables' and was quite emotional especially with some songs like 'I dreamed a dream' and so on. Then, I tried listing movies that had (almost) jerked water from my lids or struck my emotions even though I know "it's just a movie". Here they are: 1. Titanic. (Ehn...I know...I'm part of those that were moved by the Jack and Rose bla bla story) 2. My sister's keeper. 3. Les miserables. 4. The help. 5. Osuwon. (Yoruba film )6. Evil forest. (From the stable of Nollywood )Can you list yours too? |
bebe2: Just drive carefully and stop killing fellow citizens, dats all we ask.You are really swift with insensible comments. Kudos to you. |

kofsy: Yes Shola, they are called agents. How much did they charge you?50k for GRE and 42k for TOEFL. I know dats quite expensive compared to agents in other places but that's the only agent I know in Akure. I'm reading on my own. No coaching lessons. |
kofsy: Wow! I plan august tooI am registering with a company that (cant remember the name but sounds like MET) deals with all these exams and travelling abroad. They have a branch in Akure with their head office in lagos. So, paying through them, does that mean I'm using an agent? ![]() |

Hi. This is a nice thread I must say. I'm also preparing for GRE and TOEFL. I would paste GRE words here but I don't fancy these 'origin tales'. ![]() Word: Chicanery. Noun. Meaning: deception, trickery. Word: Veneration. Noun. Meaning: To show great respect. |
gendebs: I dare anybody to tell me just one Hollywood movie that beats "3 idiots" in term of creativity and suspenceIn terms of creativity and suspense, 'The Dark Knight' beats 'Three idiots' for me. Most people appreciate 'Three idiots' 'cos it is very relatable and has a plot that hasn't been exploited. I like the movie, but 'The Dark Knight' is on a higher cadre, even 'Inglorious basterds' sef beat am (in terms of creativity though, not suspense. But to each his own sha. |
VillageBoi: I had realised from the other thread that you probably hadn't seen it and I'm glad you liked it. You're one of the few people that I think or actually know CAN write that well.I'm humbled sir. Thanks. |
Dovahkiin: shes uglyI won't insult you but are you blind ? She is not very pretty but still ok. What happened to the word 'plain'? Please, 'ugly' should be kept in the reservoir in Rita's case.Very stylish actress I must say. |
God! This is very brilliant. A very brilliant execution of the script. And 'no telling', 'more showing' (in Villageboi's words ). It's touching. |
Where is the video, sir? ![]() |
VillageBoi: Somadino & Sholay - You both have said it as it is and that is the truth. We're really not ready to tackle certain types of films... because if we do, as usual, we are more than likely to make something mediocre.Hmmmmmmmm....you have a point there. Maybe we are just not adventurous enough in filmmaking in Nigeria and also, not ready to take risks. Who wants to do a sci-fi movie (like the one you talked about up here) in Nigeria that would tank at box office because many Nigerians don't even seem to understand the whole concept?. It even confuses them the more. This boils down to another thread that asks if Nigerians really know good movies. Maybe there are actually some genres that are not 'african'. Or maybe we already have a sci-fi genre in Nigeria but it's not like that of Hollywood? Abi what's the difference between 'aliens invading a planet in a Hollywood movie' and 'witches invading a town in Nollywood'? Or is there a difference between 'sci-fi heroes having superpowers to vanish to our delight in Hollywood movies' and 'mammy water disappearing and appearing at will in Nollywood movies'? ![]() We sef don dey do Sci-fi tey tey. Villageboi, you can launch us in that genre naa. You should work with the OP. |
. |
Op, I must say you have a point but I don't think our filmmakers are ready for that genre. At least, it's better they 'pass it on to the next generation' (that they peeceive would have the skill/equipment) than make a rubbish movie out of the script. Or are you in haste to sell your script? By the way, I don't think nollywood has actually explored any genre 'reasonably' (except slapstick comedies and sickening drama-forming genres). I believe the drama genre really needs to be fully explored to bring nollywood into the 'real' limelight. I mean serious dramas, that may even be based on real life events like the aba women riot, a remake of 'Stubborn grasshopper', boko haram brouhaha, book adaptations etc, not blackberry babes and android boyz kinda films. Lol. Dramas usually have the higher tendencies of producing memorable characters and establishing a deep connection with the audience, especially when done well; that's why you don't really see a sci-fi movie as an Oscar best picture nominee most times and even in acting categories. So, OP, maybe we re not yet ready for that kind of genre. But I believe you should be ready (writing-wise) for more DRAMA!!!!!! ![]() |
Can't he learn some basic computer packages like Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc? He may also learn a new language, preferably French or Chinese (if u av d money), I dnt mean ur village dialect oo ![]() He can even learn swimming for future purposes, especially emergency situations.
