FamilyRe: 60 Ways To Make Your Marriage Rock! by sholay2011(m): 9:04pm On Apr 11, 2013
MrBible: You have only made your foolishness clearer. All your curses will continue to return back on your head one Centillion times and they will remain on your head. You are a waste and I won't even read or reply your post anymore.
MrBible! You've started displaying foolishness again on this thread again! Kai!
Ppl shud spare me all these 'different things work for different ppl' excuses.
There are still some basic principles applicable to every SUCCESSFUL and ENJOYABLE not ENDURABLE marriage.

Asking spouses to be apart for few times is definitely a right point. Everybody should still try to rediscover him or herself, re evaluate and ponder on how to do tinz (even for ur spouse); evri1 needs to still retain that individuality stuff.

Also, I believe it also makes you cherish what time you have together more. Or why don't spouses work in the same company just to 'save' their marriage?

MrBible, a pity you love to expose ur ignorance too quickly.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Why Are There No Job Agencies In Nigeria??? by sholay2011(m): 7:06pm On Apr 11, 2013
What happened to Sesewa company? I think one of its major functions is serving as a job agency.
TV/MoviesRe: Movies With Unpredictable Endings by sholay2011(m): 8:10am On Apr 11, 2013
VillageBoi: Teehee, you no dey watch 'Nollygoof'? Half-way thru and in the middle of a scene it 'shockingly' ends with the message - "Watch Out for Part 8 even though we nefa finito Part 1" lol
Lol...I believe 'Figurine' had a quite unpredictable ending. Come on, who sensed that 'Linda' (Funlola Aofiyebi) had dated 'Sola' (Kunle Afolayan) in the past? Who knew the story would later be stuck between believing the figurine or ramsey noah is the cause of havoc and not the usual 'an evil doll-is-causing upheaval-but-we-later-survived story'.

I Rep Naija.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Favouritism And The Plight Of A Nigerian Unemployed: A Threat To Nations Buildin by sholay2011(m): 2:27pm On Apr 10, 2013
anelkamak: Yes, we may argue that favouritism is a part of life. But the question is "on what basis were some people favoured and not others?" In this scenario, everybody went for a test, passed and were all told they did well and the company then started selectively calling some to resume while others that were also successful were left out. The same company also went ahead to advertise for the same job role whereas there were people who did well in the previous selection process that were yet to be absorbed.
Did you read my post well? C'mon! I dnt support favouritism at the expense of professionalism. But let's be real here, sometimes, it's the only thing that separates the goose from the gander.

Or do you think if the OP had someone too at the company, wouldn't he make use of the 'long leg', though after satisfying their qualifications? Abegii!
TV/MoviesRe: A Mile From Home - Nigerian Trailer by sholay2011(m): 2:10pm On Apr 10, 2013
vicade: The trailer isn't bad but I've seen better naija trailers that have turned out to be very poor movies.
Nollywood in my opinion should keep it simple and go back to the basics. All this over sabi hollywood movies wanna be is enough. Movies such as Ije,Two Brides and a Baby,Anchor Baby,Mirror Boy and even that dance movie with Ini edo, that movie about secondary school life and Aromatu are all crap if you ask me.

I suggest for starters Nollywood should start making historical movies and biographies about Nigerians and Nigeria.

Who's gonna make a movie about Life in the 60s,70s and 80s (Which are largely undocumented)Ogunde,Isaac Boro,Ahmadu Bello,Fela,MKO Abiola,Christopher Okigbo, awodele awojobi,Ojukwu,Awolowo,Mary Slessor,The Various Nigerian Coups,Even recent occurences such as the Odi masaccre . It took America to take the Fela story global via broadway;Americans telling the story of one of our own.

Its bad enough most Nigerians don't know much about their history. Its even worse Nollywood isn't doing anything about it. The worst even is that Nollywood can't do fiction cos the producer is probably d director/writer/script writer and actor. No specialisation or professionalism.
Clap for yourself! You've spoken well...nonsense!
Nigerians are so good at criticising from afar but never getting their hands into doing something unique.
How can you say movies like 'Anchor baby', 'Ije' and co are rubbish? Seriously? Were you high when you logged in? As much as they may just be fair improvement compared to what Nollywood is known for, you don't rubbish ppl's sweat like someone who is battling with PARANOIA. grin

TV/MoviesRe: My Short Film Script- PARANOIA by sholay2011(op): 10:01pm On Apr 09, 2013
speedyboi: What more can I say? This is just a fantastic script. You are good, know that!

this sounds unrealistic. and even more rude. he could've said something like 'I'm sorry. Do you believe in love at first sight?'

The dialogue of this script is so tight.....no unnecessary 'senrere'. kudos to you once again. smiley.

This thread has jumped ooooo. I will try to go through it though.
Thanks bro.
In reference to Thompson's line that you pointed out, it's because you are sane that you think it's unrealistic...lol. Btw, I wanted Thompson to sound very rude (because when you get into his psyche, you would discover he already sees Funmi as his wife who another man (the neighbour) coveted. This results into overconfidence in aprroaching her and eventually amounts to being impolite).
TV/MoviesRe: My Short Film Script- PARANOIA by sholay2011(op): 9:23pm On Apr 09, 2013
VillageBoi: That's a 'modification' he's talking about considering in his reply to you. Mrs Eze is (as in the script) already in his 'bedroom' and as described is dressed 'corporately'. Flowing gowns no bad shaa make guys see 'somthing' nah! grin
Lol@ ur last statement...BadBoi (no be VillageBoi again).
TV/MoviesRe: My Short Film Script- PARANOIA by sholay2011(op): 8:29pm On Apr 09, 2013
ijebabe: I agree about Mrs Eze's role not being important in the movie but an insight as to who she is from a 'reading' standpoint is important. In Thomson's flashback, it could have been a faceless person with just a voice but you chose to have a character with a face and a name; providing the setting only seemed natural.
It would also help in understanding his frustrations all the more, especially his decision to go to the house of a married woman with 2 kids, with the intent to kill her husband and take over his life. smiley
Noted!
TV/MoviesRe: My Short Film Script- PARANOIA by sholay2011(op): 8:03pm On Apr 09, 2013
ijebabe: A very nice script sholay. I like the idea of the conversation with his image, its something we can relate to. I hope you can capture this essence while shooting the film because its all in the details. I read the script and the movie plays in my head (weirdly, its not in colour grin)and I could imagine what the characters looked like, the little gestures that differentiate Thomson from his image even though they are the same person, the last scene in the apartment etc.

I agree with VillageBoi on character build-up. The first scene was very vague as there was no 'setting'. There was no indication of who Mrs Eze was to Thomson. Was he a fresh graduate from uni or done with NYSC when he had the conversation with Mrs Eze? Is he an orphan or had a no-good dad. It lacked certain descriptions at the start but other than that I liked it. Can't wait to see it in when it's done cheesy
At last! Madam don comment! Tnx.
As regards the description of who Mrs.Eze is to Thompson, I do not think that's necessary. The whole story is woven around Thompson and his subconscious, not the other way round. I think what's essential is the contribution of Mrs. Eze to Thompson's present situation- which she did by asking him where he sees himself by age 30.
Nevertheless, I would try modifying the script to show he was at an interview when the question was asked to give the director the image of the scene. Thanks!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Favouritism And The Plight Of A Nigerian Unemployed: A Threat To Nations Buildin by sholay2011(m): 1:59pm On Apr 09, 2013
Hmmm...what a heartbreaking story! Corruption is an enemy to the progress of a society; but I don't think favouritism is.

When all candidates have equal qualifications, did well in the selection/screening process and just few people are needed, favouritism may be inevitable. It's practised everywhere. I believe it's one of those things for human survival.

My prayer is everything in life should walk together for our good. Corruption should be fought against, but favouritism is another thing entirely. Even God Himself has favourites, though never corrupt. wink

VillageBoi: Forgot to say - Eno, you know Sholay is an actor right? I think he should be the lead in his own film. He knows the material he wrote in and out.
From the experience of having made a short where everything happens in the actors head... getting the right lead is KEY!
Lol. But Thompson is a thirty-smth years old man. I'm quite younger than that oo.

Enoquin: A beautiful short script. Nothing was wasted...I love(d) it. Good actors with clear dictions will complete your story...well done!
You are very right. It's a character-driven story. Could easily be marred by bad acting when it's shot. Tnx.

I've heard about this movie 'cos it was written by Chris colfer (the guy that played kurt hummel in 'Glee').

omidhe: Surprising how everyone look at the story from the physical , I guess the writer himself didn't know how much abstract work he has created . Beautiful imagery. I belive the whole event happens in Thompson's head , between his sub-conciousness, a man who has built his own enemy , in other that he might have someone to blame for the woes that have befall him ,only for him for him to find out that he is stronger than the enemy he has created , and in all of that , his supposed enemy -the dog his happier than him . Lesson learnt , in all be contended with what you have , and if you want more in life , stand up and hustle for it , instead of looking for who to blame for your failure . Fumi probably most have looked everywhere for happiness -husband and kids , and since none was forthcoming , she created her happiness herself -the dog , and the dolls .lesson learnt , life will give to you what you first give to yourself , happiness is from within , nobody who cteat yours for you . Hey sholay , am a script writer , too . U wanna hook up ? Great work you 'v got there, I must say welldone .
I am very impressed at the way you 'dissected' the story. You must be a very good writer.

Thanks very much bro. You really see it from my view.
It's amazing how people also give deep interpretation from their angles on the same story.
TV/MoviesRe: My Short Film Script- PARANOIA by sholay2011(op): 4:18pm On Apr 08, 2013
Marvin G: As a scriptwriter myself, I appreciate the story on so many levels. First off, it's a unique idea. The plot is engaging. However, it needs to be fleshed out before it can truly be presentable for shooting. This 'fleshing' out can be done with a scriptwriter who knows what he or she is doing. I might be able to give you some more pointers on how to proceed, but I feel that you've already given away too much info on your script, hell. . . you've practically sent it out, now, anyone can steal it and develop it. For that reason, I wouldn't want to give you ideas which anyone can just pick up and make the story complete, then take credit for it.
You may reach me on ejogoken@yahoo.com for pointers.
Once again, it
's a great idea
Thanks very much. My email is oladesuolusola@yahoo.com. I would appreciate your 'fleshing out' tips. Thanks once again.
