Hello,
My student permit was refused based on this reason “Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself”.

Please how do I solve this.
Order for GCMS notes. It's basically concerning your POF. You need to do something about it. When GCMS notes come, you'll be able to know the exact cause.

Please guys I need your advice , during my nysc I was not posted to a particular company , I was posted to a school but I also worked at the company where I was not posted . I worked with them and was paid but because of the way I got the job , I just have employment letter and a paystub but not a bank statement . Funds for tuition deposit has already been debt and tuition deposit is being paid . They are also my sponsors . But I ended nysc in 2020 but have been working there from the beginning of nysc 2019 till date . Will my nysc contradict my works and is my personal bank statement nessasary if the company is providing me with theirs .

Please I need your help
The fact they want to know is if you truly worked or are working there. Whether it be NYSC or not, the fact is you worked or are working there and got paid or are getting paid.

My advice is separate NYSC work experience from the company work experience.

Hi there,

I need help!

I need honest review on this course - Certificate in Business Intelligence and Analytics, University of Calgary Continuing Education. I really cannot tell if it is a PGCERT program but it is more of a professional program recommended for international students who wants to live and work in Canada according to the information on the school website.

The program is 12months with one year PGWP and tuition fee of CAD22,050.00. The core courses align with what the applicant is looking for and it is business related reason considering the program.

The background of the applicant:
- Computer/Electrical Engineering
- Currently working in the finance sector as Credit Risk Officer

What advise do you have for the applicant

Thanks.
I think the course is too expensive if it's just a certificate and not a PGC. You can find PGD/PGC/PostBaccDip that are also good for applicants wishing to immigrate at cheaper price.

Hello everyone. I am a newbie here and I recently just graduated from a Private University here in Nigeria. I studied Computer science and I am looking forward to start my application to any University in Canada for my MSc program. I meet with an Agent to help me with my application but the Agent told me I can’t get any admission into any University in Canada because I graduated with a 2.2(lower class). I was introduced to this thread by a friend who told me I can get help from here. Please Guru’s in the house I need help with my application. Can I get an admission to any low tuition University with 2.2 . Please I want to try and get my application done correctly and I don’t want to fall in the hands of Agents. I’ll appreciate any response from you guys. Any school recommendations would be appreciated too please. Thank you
Candidly, it will be difficult to secure an admission into a master's degree program in Canada.

The only circumstance when it's possible is if your grade is 77% or more in the last two years or two semesters.

If your GPA is not around 77% or more, kindly settle for PGD.
There are many PGD/PGC/PostBaccDip courses relating to Computer Science.

To get you more chances of visa approval, I will advise you stick to your business administration (practical) not in education/teaching because you have spent 10 years practising in the profession. You have no teaching experience if I guess right.

Although wishing to switch career is not impossible but you need a strong SOP, reasons and evidence to successfully convince the VO.

For courses you may consider:

PGD Business Management– Human Resources

When you say "sure pathway," I hope you mean courses that can guarantee sure pathway to PR. If yes, all the course stated above are PGWP eligible.

If you meant courses that are highly in-demand, I will advise you go for IT and Health courses. Since you have business background, I will recommend you go for Data Analytics or Business Analytics because these courses are IT courses and relevant for applicants with business background.

I haven’t seen a situation where you will use your parent as sponsor and don’t use their bank statement….someone correct me if I’m wrong.
To be on a safe path, just get up to $30000
I want to ask if you have been working in education line.

I also want to advise that your work experience overrides your academic qualifications due to your ten-year study gap. Hence, you should consider a course related to your job experience. This will show career progression.

Again, I want to also make you see the difference between Diploma, Advance Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma: when you said you knew you would be going for diploma, I hope you meant PGD, PGC or PostBaccDip even though diploma is not out of options

You must show the bank account statement of your sponsor. That is how they'll see the money is available or the source of the money if the money is transferred into your account.

I greet everybody

I was refused a study permit today. First time applicant and I applied in Europe.

The reasons they gave for the refusal are:

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by
paragraph R216(1)(b) of the section-216.html).

I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:

• Your immigration status outside your country of nationality or habitual residence.

• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the
details you have provided in your application.

• Your current employment situation does not show that you are financially established in
your country of residence.

You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can
demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements.

Please, I need advice on how to tackle these concerns next time.
While my first advice is to order for GCMS notes, I will ask some questions relating to the points raised above as the reasons for refusing your visa application.

1. What is your status in your current country of residence. What is your status history?

2. Only you can give us more details about this.

3. How financially established are you in that country? Can you work with your status there?

No issues in as much as you have explained beyond reasonable doubts in your LOE.

The role as a Team Manager includes all these except the sales. So I manage team members and it includes HR responsibilities, Critical Thinking, Ideation and Change Management; it is a role in the Customer Care Division in my company. I have a strong CGPA (4.02, 2:1)

So is it safe to go ahead with an MBA. I wish I had a more specialized field like the rest of you all do.

You are very qualified and it's safe. But ensure you enroll in a DLI.

Good Morning House.
Can someone please suggest a good pgd program for a first degree in Mass Communication. I have experience in HR (360 from Recruitment to On-boarding to Training and Performance Mgt) I also have experience in Sales and Marketing (Brand Communication and Retail Sales). I also have been a Team Manager in Customer Care for 6 years.
I will really appreciate your response. Although it looks to me like an MBA will be ideal.
You should stick to one job especially the most recent so we can advise you on what to go for because HR, Customer Care Service and Sales/Marketing are not the same.

Whether to go for masters is dependent on your grade in your first degree. If you have 2:1, it may be easy to secure admission into MBA, MSc etc. If you have 2:2, it may be difficult to gain an admission into a masters direct, although it's not impossible: in this case, PGD/PGC/PostBaccDip is your best bet.

Thank you so much for the feedback.

I graduated in 2009 and finished my M.Eng in 2015. I have over 8 years working experience.

No experience whatsoever in Mechanical Engineering. So my fear is, ... If I switch back to Mechanical Engineering, won't they be like "you love Mech so much why no working experience?". And how do I convince them in my SOP.

A mentor over there in Canada is the person that adviced against Cybersecurity. Said many of his friends have been denied because they are coming to study something else.

So MSc Cybersecurity or PhD??
Friends situation may be different from yours.

According to my experience, while PhD Mech. Eng. will also work, it is my belief that MSc CyberSecurity will convince the VO more.

Another thing is you should know what you want.

Your statement of purpose will do the job.

The SOP for PhD will be different from that of MSc CyberSecurity.

Hello guys.

Is the Visa SOP required when applying for a study visa in Canada? I'm curious because I didn't write a statement of purpose before being accepted to the University of Ottawa.

Thank you.

Little background: OND Marine Engineering here in Nigeria, then got accepted Honours Bachelor Physics Fall 2022 in Uottawa
SOP is your only way to explain to the VOs your situation as regards many factors such as Home Ties, Financial Status and Personal Assets, Career or Academic Progression, reasons for wanting to study the course among many others.

If it were to be the US visa, for example, you would be called for an interview, but Canada does not do interview: SOP is your only way to convey your message.

Hello Everyone,

I studied Mechanical Engineering in my first degree...graduated with 2.1 in 2009. I have also done my master degree still in Mechanical Engineering.

However, after my undergraduate program, I got a job as a cybersecurity officer in a Bank and I have been in the banking industry ever since. I have done some information security certifications like Sec+, CEH, CISM.

My problem is that I am confused on what part to follow;

1. Should I start from Master Mechanical Engineering

2. Should I go straight for PhD

3. Or should I continue with Cybersecurity?

I got some information that it would be difficult to get VISA if I go for Cybersecurity because it's different from my first degree..."Lack of career progression".

Please I need guidance from experienced members
I will first ask, when did you graduate from your MEng.?

1. Not necessary.

2. You can go for a PhD in Mech Eng. or related course if your chances of getting admission are high considering your grade and year of graduation.

3. Your work experience overrides your academic qualifications considering your years of relevant work experience as a CyberSecurity professional. You could go for CyberSecurity.

Lack of career progression is when you don't do things that will likely contribute to your promotion in your career. Going for CyberSecurity is a career progression. Your work experience is your new reality. Your educational qualification doesn't define you as you have not been practising Mechanical Engineering.

Lack of academic progression is doing things that do not relate to your prior academic field. This is against those who don't have job experience at all and want to go for a course of study that is entirely different from their former education. This does not concern you because you have some years of work experience.

Kindly let us know the last time you studied (year of graduation of your MEng.)

It's almost impossible to get admission into a master's degree program with a 2:2. You can try though, but I must advise you don't want to be spending $100+ application fee especially when you know your chances are slim.

You may qualify for PGD programs.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by ShowYoung:
Teemenzo:
Firstly don't think for others or the VO, if you actually know how VOs think, you would have been our first reference for the Study visa thing. Own it, these are your thoughts.

We have had many people who changed course after first refusals because they need to save cost and at the same time be able to show a comfortable balance as a Proof of Fund. The applicant asked a honest question, don't ruin it.

As for the applicant, its totally cool to change course or institution after refusal.. Just make sure you still maintain a good relationship between your previous education or work experience and the new course you are going for. Don't let anyone bambooze you.

Once you have been refused, case closed on that application but mnd you the new VO will still refer to your previous application. So you have to be able to balance it
While writing your LOE, make sure you explain explicitly why you changed the course. Give genuine reasons and explai it properly. After this, you are good

Congrats in advance.
While I appreciate your contribution here, I will not allow you to insult me and think your opinion is always the right one.

I believe if you read my post again and understand each sentence, you may understand better: perhaps I may be able to further make you open your eyes to see positive things therein.

1. Hypotheses are intelligent guesses. Perhaps you don't understand they don't have to be true always and they don't have to be false always.
2. I never said that is how VOs do reason because I used the word "may". Sure, if I can reason that way, VOs too may reason that way too. A visa applicant have to ensure (s)he makes his/her application tidy from all sides by reasoning that way
3 In the first and last paragraph of my response, I analysed and made reference that it's possible though but with a strong LOE which your unnecessary response also corroborates. You failed to see the part where I said the applicant needs to address the issue with strong LOE and that it's possible that an applicant can change institution and course. I will still make my point known, you must provide strong LOE if you change course and institution in your reapplication. I don't work and believe in 50/50 chances. Perhaps that's the difference between the two of us. I do take responsibility for my failure if faced with it and not blame it on 50/50 chances.

Also the bolded in your response is too hash, unpleasant and unnecessary. You may want to check and review it. You should know this thread is for everyone to share opinion and not for you and your idea alone. If you have something against me, you should address it, rather than conveying your bitterness through this means.

Also, I want to make you understand Canadian Visa Permit process is not totally on luck but your handiwork. If luck will play a part, it can't be more than 5% and the rest 95% is your handiwork. If you don't get something right, it means there is something you are not doing right and not 50/50 chances luck playing out, although there is mercy of the Lord.

Thanks for your response,
1. I want to reapply with an LOA from different institution and different course
2. The first school tuition is high for my sponsor..
You have to provide a strong LOE to address this action because you have conveyed messages like:

1. You don't know what you are doing. Didn't you reason about he cost in your first application?

2. You don't even know the course you want to study. Why did you choose the first course? How come are you changing your course now?

Apology for the above numbered hypotheses, the questions and comments numbered above are not for you to answer and not to insult you. They are just hypotheses to let you see how VO or other people may reason.

Although there is no problem changing schools due to tuition fee difference, but it'll be reasonable if it had been in the same course as it will show you are actually determined on pursuing the same course and goal.

Yes, you can but with good explanation. I will like to ask some questions about your wish to change it if it hasn't expired due to either deferral, admission revocation or something else.

1. You want to reapply with a different LOA from the same institution and/or the same course?
