mightysam002: Please, does submission of webform affects processing time. I applied a visitor visa to attend a conference but others have started getting response. Could the delay be as a resultof the webform i submiited lately. IRCC processes applications differently. Application processing time for one person may be different from another person irrespective of whether they are both attending the same conference. You can keep mailing them though. Kindly order for GCMS notes to see what may be going on. |

ozzymugabe: Good day Gurus in the house, please I need your advice.
I recently secured admission to study in Canada and about to commence my study permit application. I intend using my younger brother as my sponsor, he is a nurse in UK with a skill worker visa. He operates UK and Nigeria bank accounts. Now my question is: 1. Can I use both accounts for my application considering the fact that he has more money in the UK account than Nigerian account?
2. Since he is my younger brother, can that factor affect my application?
Thanks as I await responses 1. You should instead ask him to do a deed of gift for you. He should send the money into your account and show evidence. By this, VOs would not have any reason to doubt the availability of the fund. 2. It doesn't matter, your younger can gift you anything but you must take into account his and his family welfare and financial situation. You know it is not natural if your brother has say €60,000 and he is gifting you €55,000. I myself will also doubt the genuineness. |

Anon123: Good day all...
I want to get you guys opinion on this for a friend...
My friend is a sales supervisor for a company and manages a particular state. Asides his job, he is in a private partnership with a client, in which the customers of this client pays in money (mostly in millions) into my friend's account at different occasions and from there takes his cut from that amount.
He wishes to use this account for his study permit application. He said he will include a service agreement with some of these customers to justify the lump sums. He asked me, i said yes it can work but in the other way round, the visa officer will feel my friend is using customers money to pursue his canada japa plans. So, i advised him since he has a salary account, why dont he transfer 10m from that account to the salary account and his wife transfers 10m from her account to the same salary account and attach a GIFT DEED.
My questions are 1) Is his plan of using the account that receives money from customer a good idea? 2) Is my suggestion as per the bolded okay? 3) If item 1 and 2 aint okay, what recommendation do you guys recommend he employs.
Thank you. 1. His plan may work in the sense that what you think might be regarded as lump sums may not necessarily be if the pattern of such huge amount of money in credit and debit has been occuring for a long time. Also, account balance will show it in a way that irrespective of the lump sums, the account balance growth may not be outrageous— for example, it is natural for account balance to grow from 5 million to 8 million within 4 months if I claim I earn 800k monthly irrespective of hundreds of millions going in and out. On the other hand, it may call for questioning if the #5million account balance surges to 20million within 5 to 6 months. 2. This suggestion may also work but I can sense that the same question of lump sum will still occur as the VO would see the movements of different 10millions. Explanations to this will still be made. I think this option is harder to defend because the wife must show where the deed of gift is coming from: if the wife has had the 10million from accumulated savings, it is fine; but it will be a problem if a lump sum of the same 10 million shows in the wife's account. 3. I would go with item 1 if the conditions I narrated in my answer to item 1 are met. Additionally, a credit of #10million may not be seen as a lump sum for an account that has been transfering and receiving different batches of 10million since 1 year ago; but may be seen as a lump sum for an account which has never transacted 8 million at once before. They study pattern of credits and debits in relation to account balance. It all depends on the pattern. This is my opinion though and may not be correct. |

Fardowsa: thank you all for your compassion I got my admission in January, we made the first tuition deposit in February, took about 2 months to gather documents for the visa process. I submitted my application on May 14, 2022. Biometrics was done 23 May, 2022, updated same day. I had an upfront medical exam on 16 April 2022 Medicals was updated on 16 May 2022
I got my refusal letter, 17 June 2022. Reason: insufficient financial funds for me and accompanying family member (my mom)
I might apply again, so i thought to use the GIC as proof of funds with CIBC. Is this advisable? Does anyone know how the process works?
i feel i still have time to apply and also get my visa before school resumption in the fall.
Thank you GIC or no GIC, apply to get GCMS notes and pinpoint the VOs concerns. The solution might not be in getting a GIC. You need to map out a good strategy in tackling the exact reason instead of going by trial and error method. |

In the absence of information relating to your application and GCMS notes, this refusal reason is sometimes due to inability to show either career or academic progression, failure to convince the VO in your SOP about your purpose of visit and some other reasons. You need to order for GCMS notes to see the exact refusal reason. |

Silversurfer1: Hi guys. I hope everyone is okay? I apologise in advance if this question has been asked and answered. Can a student who studies for a Diploma in Canada apply for the graduate student stream for provincial nomination in any of the provinces? I checked Ontario but their graduate student stream is meant for Masters and PhD students. Can one still apply for that or are diploma students disqualified? Plus are there any provinces that accept Diplomas for their graduate student stream? Thanks International Graduate Streams are a pathway to securing a PNP. In some provinces, they have a separate program for graduates of master's and PhD i.e Ontario Masters Graduate Stream etc. In some others, they give a graduate of any post secondary education (Dip, AdvDip, AS. BS) opportunities to apply to their International Graduate Stream i.e Newfoundland and Labrador International Graduate Stream, British Columbia International Graduate Stream etc.;while some only allow graduates of post graduate studies (PGD/PGC, Masters, PhD) i.e BC International Post-Graduate Stream. You need to research additional conditions attached. Some provinces require a job offer in addition while some don't. |

Toceen2022: So guys, here is my timeline.
This journey started in 2020 when I applied to University of New Brunswick, but I wasn't admitted. I wasn't really serious about it then because business was going on fine, that's why I applied to UNB alone.
Around April 2021, when dollar issues hit our business so hard, I lost a lot of money and it started to look like the journey will never be possible again. I discuss with my siblings and we knew it's time to make move and leave this country, because exchange rate means a lot in our Importation business. I decided to prioritize this Canada journey and started making a lot of research and reading on nairaland.
First of all, I decided to apply to schools supported by Mpower, because 7 figures monthly income has dropped by almost 60%. I contacted many potential supervisors and one from University of Victoria fixed a date for interview. She accepted to be my supervisor and I applied around October 2021. I also applied to University of Manitoba. By February 2022, when I didn't hear from Uvic and Manitoba I quickly applied to Fanshawe, Conestoga and NSCC.
March 2022, admissions started rolling in: University of Victoria - Accepted University of Manitoba - Rejected Fanshawe College - Accepted Conestoga College - Accepted NSCC - Accepted
I opted for University of Victoria because I have a supervisor, no tuition deposit required and it is a Master's Program. I didn't submit my visa application for about 2 months because I was waiting for funding letter. During this period, I started gathering documents and writing my SOP. When everything was set I contacted Makano to review my SOP. He gave me a thumbs up, but emphasize on writing it as formal letter and did some editing, removing the sub-headings, turning it into paragraphs. I respect him so much for being calm. He sent voice notes to me to explain why he did some things and assured me it's the best. "I have been doing it like that and I've been getting positive results with my clients". That was actually his words. Thank you Makano, I respect you Bro

If your experience in Sales and Marketing is current, Business Analytics is good: you can explain to the VO how your PGD in Business Administration is focused on general business and management and that you need to have analytical skills to improve in your work.
Knowing that Business Analysis is Data Science focused on Business, you should convince the VO how Python and Java Programming Languages, Visualisation using Pandas, Tableau etc, Business Intelligence and application of Software Engineering to Business will be a powerful device through which you can excel to the management positions in your current organization. |

Hello gurus in the house
A friend of mine studied biochemistry and she graduated in 2018.
However, she is a make-up artist and she has been working as a make-up artist since she graduated university. Her make up business is also registered and she makes good income.
She wants to go for a post graduate course that relates to her make up business. Will the visa officer see the PG course related to make-up as a career progression? If so, Please what schools can she apply to in Canada for a make-up/cosmetics related courses.
Thanks. Lekiboboe: Hi
I think your friend will be good to go for a Business Management program.
He possible focus (Future Goals/Career Prospects) on her SOP should be centered around her makeup business expansion in her home country.
See the link below for
Business Management PG. Cert programs and Colleges offering it

She can Google for more Business Management PG Programs at Canadian Colleges
Since your friend will be going for a Program (Business Management) not related to her degree (Biochemistry), but related to her work experience (makeup business), she should go through the contents in the link below https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/414#95068409
Canadian Résumé Style & Cover Letter for Admission into a College for a PG. Cert Program (Find attached) https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/50#89629360
Potential Documents needed to apply for admission in a College for PG. Cert (Most especially at Ontario Colleges) https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/221#103080983
The Cosmetic PG program available (at Seneca College in Toronto) is only open to Domestic Students.
Await additional suggestions/additions from the gurus & other members in house Correct. You should focus on Business Management because you are already a professional in what you do. You only need the knowledge of Business Administration or Management for expansion and profitability. |

I plan to apply to some college in the Canada to study practical Nursing . I hope this decision of mine is not a red flag since I already have a bsc and now going for a diploma in practical nursing . I need advice from the house please Really, if your NYSC work experience is nothing related to your prior education and Nursing, it may be difficult to convince the VO as regards both academic and career progressions. If you have not really practised Physiology, why switch to Nursing at Diploma level? I think the best option for you is to go for PGD in Physiology or related courses. This will serve as academic progression. |

Ketima: Now I want to give a little advise to us all. Do that which you believe will work for you. Many of you here knows me well but note it that no one knows it all. We all learn from each other.
Today I got my wife's SOWP, just 3 months after submission even though I'm still in Nigeria. Sometimes we get adviced based on others peoples situations or event, but truth be told, things changes with time. When I got my study visa, family application refusals were high, hence we tend to advice to apply alone, then apply for spouse and kids(if any) when you arrive in Canada. In the past few weeks, we have noticed that family applications are recieving approval, those applying for diploma even when they already have Bsc are getting approval, those applying for PGD even after Masters are getting approvals.
So, What that matters is let your application be top notch. Avoid any loophole. Be your own VO. Review your application yourself and leave the rest to God's grace.
So, I advice henceforth, if you're a family, apply together, worst scenario, it will be rejected and you people can refire again. If you're applying for a degree lower than what you already had, ensure that your prove beyond doubt why you're going for such course. Nothing is impossible in this Canada journey.
For SOWP, then we were advised to wait till you get to Canada before applying. But with the recent delays in SOWP application, applicants are waiting 8 months + before getting decisions. So if you applied alone and got approval, you may as well work toward submitting your spouse (family) application because you never can tell, it may even get approved before you leave so that both can leave together.
And again for those not coming forth to encourage others with there timeline, is not that you're compelled to do it or people beg or attack you, is just to help the newbies learn vital document's to submit as not all will have time to read from the beginning. I personally have 3 people I helped applied for and got approval this month and I told them to come share their testimony here to encourage others and they promised but still hasn't. But It was still from sharing of timeline that they came to me to help them in their applications. So please let's do well to help each other because this journey has no end until we all become citizens. At any stage, you will need help and this nairaland forum is top notch for such.
For my wife SOWP, I will still share it here for others to learn and as well in the SOWP forum.
We're all doing well and God will bless us all.
Lianna2020 you motivated me to apply for her early and I'm grateful I did. Congratulations |

@showyoung @lekibiboe It is difficult but not impossible. If it were to be in the US, I would say it's very possible. My advice is that you should have it in your mind that you are going for an undergraduate program, if per adventure you are able to get some course waivers, it will be advantageous. Meanwhile, you must be able to present your transcripts for the 3 years and statement of result in form of a notification of result which will state that you have completed 3 years out of 4 years. Try and don't give up on your 3 years of rigorous study easily. |

Without having seen your GCMS notes, I can see the exact reason why your application was refused; although GCMS notes is the best source. This is my thought and may be incorrect. Required Expenses Tuition fee for 2 years $22,400. Living Expenses (2 years) $20,000. Miscellaneous Expenses $3000. TOTAL : $45,400. (#15,075,000 @$1/335)Total Amount shown: Tuition Deposit $7000. (#2,345,000) Dad's Account #4,000,000 Dad's Account #5,000,000 TOTAL: #11,345,000.You may still need approximately #4,000,000 more. Also, the onus is on you to convince the VOs that your Dad has no responsibility on anyone else and that the funds are meant for you. I strongly believe they wish to approve your visa; in your next application, if you are able to address the concerns raised with the financial analysis above, your visa application will be approved by God's grace. |

warm regards, You should go for a course related to your work experience as this will show career progression. Some suitable courses are Banking, Finance, Customer Service and Sales, Marketing, Business Analysis among others. Another point is as those courses listed above show career progression, they also show academic progression at the same time as some of them are related to Accounting in which you already hold an HND. |
