OdenigboAroli2: face your front, why did the oba misyarn? I am not here to stereotype like you. The Oba spoke for himself alone. He knows what his interest is in both candidates. The arguments of most 'Igbo-monikers' here has been heavily dependent on the assumption that whatever one Yoruba man or even Hausa man says is the opinion of every Yoruba or Hausa person. Now that's a bad way to think. |

stop this sentiments, Nigeria was merged for selfish reasons, 100years down the line even when the colonial masters have gone the selfish reasons are still being practiced esp by yorubas When the Yorubas were agitating for a break off of western region in '1957, what was the reaction of the Igbos? Did Yorubas collectively promise to remain in Nigeria should Biafra break off? How are the Yorubas promoting selfishness of the colonial master. |

2. Cost of education: It is a lot cheaper to attend public university than a private one and this is not limited to school fees. Cost of living on public universities is also cheaper. Students cook their own meals and have access to shops on campus and in town where prices of goods and services are competitive. On the other hand, the cost of living on a private university secluded campus for one semester is enough to build a house. Really. The Govt spends average of N 300,000 per annum per student in public federal school(Uni.). Now when you compare what they are getting from those campuses and lecture hall to people paying as low as N 350,000 in some private school, the diff becomes clear. 20 hours a day power supply, good accommodation, and good record keeping. Add all the ugly things that goes on in a bid to get this 'subsidy' by all means and the gap becomes even wider. It is only a matter of who is paying the bills. |

1. Public universities allow for freedom and independence: Students in public universities enjoy the freedom to make decisions for themselves and learn to be almost independent. Private universities keep students within the four walls of their campuses and under certain rules more suited for teenagers than young adults. The laws in public universities are not imposed on the students; they are just the basic principles a normal student is meant to follow. It’s funny when I see pictures of private university students being punished or hear of certain rules like compulsory attendance of chapel, feeding time tables, dress codes, etc.. It is absurd; these are adults! I don't get this particular one, how do they make decision for themselves. Do they make decision of writing exams for themselves also? Truth is one community is more organized by reason of lots of things being laid out clearly, that does not make people there incapable of having their own opinion, it only means they agreed to go with rules that has been laid down in that system. I think it takes some level of control over self to be able to abide by stringent rules for 4 or 5 years. |

6. Public universities produce more mature graduates: With all the challenges: strikes, nonchalant lecturers, freedom to express yourself as adult etc., public universities are more equipped for life after graduation. They know that things would not just be handed to them and are used to making decisions for themselves. Trash. character is as important as learning. |

5. Hard work is compulsory: Students in public universities have worked through exceptional odds to succeed; challenges that help one not take life for granted. Imagine a department of over a thousand students with a very small lecture hall or a lecturer who spends only twenty minutes in a class where he is meant to spend two hours, or one who only gives handouts. Faced with issues like these, students work extra hard to come out with well-deserved results. You mean when u sort your self through some 25% of your workload and copy-copy another 25% to scale through abi? Keep deceiving yourself. Please don't even start cos the average course that goes for 3 units in public schools weights 2 unit in average private school. The industrial report says it all. |

barcanista: Amaechi or whoever can campaign for any candidate of their choice. However, deliberate attempt to ridicule the Rivers electorate and the entire Niger Delta people in his bid to please his Lord ad master somewhere in Bourdillon is unacceptable. He knows quite well that he cannot get 1% votes from Rivers, he refused accreditation only to put up show of shame to embarrass Rivers State. The same thing his soon to be defeated boy called Peterside did. Anyway, tomorrow will be decisive.
For your insults, I will pretend not to see them Going by your reply here, there is no insult in what you quoted up here. How did he ridicule the people of Rivers? When you start seeing the presence of APC in Rivers as an attempt to ridicule the whole region of Niger Delta then you start looking like the Core-Northerners who thinks they are born-to-rule and who thinks Churches should be categorized along with brothels because they don't like them. As for the part of Amaechi knowing his party can't get 1% of the states' vote, I think you just exposed the opacity of the PDP bra you are wearing. The opacity is so high, you can't see beyond it bro. |

barcanista: As long as I am concerned, Dakuku Peterside and his master Amaechi deliberately conspired against President Jonathan and the Niger Delta people to kick out Jonathan and handover power to some cabals in Daura and Bourdillon in the name of "Change". Amaechi and Peterside did worse by lying against the Rivers people that they never voted when it was clear to all that election was held. In their bid to satisfy their paymasters, amaechi, peterside and their thugs disgracefully put up a show on National TV in order to discredit the process and have Rivers state cancelled. The era of taking Rivers money to Bourdillon is gone, PDP and Wike will sweeeeeeeeeep them out.
N/B: I have no problem with anybody aligning or supporting a party/candidate, but I won't tolerate any deliberate attempt to aimed at embarrassing Rivers State inorder to satisfy an inordinate ambition.
#Wike4Governor I have been hearing Barcanista all over this forum and i used to assume you are one politically savvy dude, but i am disappointed at your low level of reasoning. Amaechi exercised his civic right by supporting and campaigning for whoever his wishes to support and campaign for. However the PDP bra in your eyes wouldn't let you see things that way. You think your skewed opinion about a fellow citizen will make him wrong for exercising his right. |

The SS are the real oil owners. It is if resent that oil was discovered in SE States like anambra, Imo and abia. Maybe with time this states will become oil producing states What is being gotten from Imo and Abia Isn't significant. Lagos can do far better but are not out to play victim cards or look for excuse to tap into NDDC, MIND, and other oil producing states based packages. Even Ondo contribute more than these two states and we don't here owners-of-the-'Oyel' taunts from them. Why always the South-East? |

Politics › Re: Revenue Allocation To States In Nigeria By FG (2014) by Sibrah: 8:33pm On Apr 09, 2015 |
Achilies: I think the south south people need to ask all their governors some serious questions...
The allocation giving akwa ibom is bigger than what is giving to the entire south east states.. yet states like enugu, anambra and Imo doing better than most if not all the south south states..
What has SS states governors done with all the oversized allocated giving to them?
Lagos state did better than most. Even ondo state are doing better than delta state. Anambra that is not even among the top 15 states is doing better than rivers state...
We all need to ask our governors but the south south people need to do some serious questions asking I love this post of yours. If truly the south east and the south-south are the real 'owners' of the 'oyel' as we have been hearing all thru the Jonathan admin, why is Akwa Ibom allocation bigger than all south east put together? |
