maclatunji: @Naijababe. In the beginning of your story, you set a background and look at the bolded about your husband. Your story of leaving Islam does not refer to your husband at all. How com you set his character as a background to a story he did not feature in? At least, we have a little insight into how the other people might have influenced your personality and current beliefs, not so for your husband.True talk, i had wanted to ask which religion he practise. |

Hmmm, so the story is over, well it was quite sad the way it ended, especially about your mum, but i became more sad, cos as i read through your last narration, i saw someone who had to struggle all alone, in a foreign land, in an environment not quite suitable to develope an ideal Islamic spirituality. From my small pikin mind, i think the struggle had been there all along, you just needed a good reason to decide what you wanted, you wanted answers to so many questions, the books you read never answered them the way you wanted. I can almost wager that if you were in naija, things might not have turned out this way...but Allah knows best I'm glad you still believe in God, peharps there is still hope afterall, if Allah wills. Would believing in God alone suffice? That's what bothers me. I think there are more questions begging for answers in deism, qustions such as, what is; the purpose of life, the purpose of God, good and evil, sufferings and pain we experience and why we go through them, the purpose of life and death, success and failure means in this world, truth and falsehood, the law of nature...and so on and so forth. I wish i could answer all your questions, all the things that wanted to make you go insane, give you a sign, show you a miracle, but i can't, all i can tell you is that, God loves you and didn't create you for no reason, everything created in this world, known to man(and studied adequately) has a reason, has a function it performes, has its role it plays, and it plays it without complaint, without questioning why, without having a second thought, cos that is the way it has been created. We on the other hand are different creatures, we reason, we contemplate, we ask questions, we have come to know, and we seek to know more(although, some knowledge are simply beyond us), we make choices, and we have come to understand that there are good and bad choices, this however, is as a result of the consequencies that might have resulted from such choices. Naijababe(aunty le je si mi o), i still feel the muslimah is still in you, i wish you would reminisce those days in naija, practicing the deen, worshiping the almighty with all your heart, seeking his pleasure and nothing else. I hope you would pick up the Qur'an and read again, the message is meant for you(everyone), the stories, the people of the past, at least history has recorded relics from their civilizations so we know they did exist, the good news, the warnings...the answers to your questions are therein. I earnestly pray Allah brings you back, He is the one who softens the heart, reshapes the heart and the one who strenghtens the heart on the path of Islam. |
^No vex o, we are working on it... erm, my people, let us pray o, laziness and PHCN are the two winches and winzards causing delay in updating, but i know dem no fit win, i must finish this story InshAllahu. ![]() |

He gestured for her to come closer with his hands, but Yemisi’s legs wouldn’t move, they were as if glued to the floor, her father then came down the front stairs and told her to come closer. Yemisi summoned all the courage and energy in her to move, she is home now, she thought, he wanted her back and so she was back, there is no turning back now. As Yemisi walked on closer to her father, she noticed how lean he had become, she thought in her mind, this is not the General she knew, this can’t be, she noticed that something had gone wrong with him, something very serious, something serious enough to have changed her father this much. Her father with a smile on his face opened his arms wide as he welcomed his daughter, he wanted an embrace but he understood her daughter’s fear, his daughter who he had terrorized, who he had disowned due to his own selfishness, but things have changed he reminded himself, and he must demonstrate that to her. Yemisi couldn’t make herself come into his embrace; she can't possibly remember recieving a hug from her father, she rather went down on her knees and sobbed uncontrollably, “I am sorry daddy, please forgive me” she said unable to control her tears, she cried and kept on saying she was sorry. “Get up Olayemisi, stop crying and get up” her father said, trying to console her, to make her stand up. But she wouldn’t want to stand up, she held on to her father by the legs and clung on to him, “daddy please forgive me, I should have listened to you, I shouldn’t have…”She was saying before her father stopped her and said; “stop it Yemisi” in a tone she was well familiar with, a tone that had always sent quivers down her spine. Yemisi looked up straight and saw a glimpse of ‘the General’ she would have become frightened again, if not that calmness settled back on his face rapidly and he was almost in tears… “Please get up, you are not at fault, I should be the one to apologize and not you” he said, his voice sober, his face looking so gentle and his eyes tearful “I did you wrong, not only you, your mother and your little sister too” “if there is anyone who needs forgiveness, it ought to be me, I need your forgiveness Yemisi, from all of you, for all I had done to you, to all of you, I was selfish and cruel to you, I wasn’t there for you when you needed me most, I pushed you out ‘cos you wouldn’t follow my wish, I was wrong Yemisi, now I know, now I know better, please find it in your heart to forgive me” he said with tear drops rolling down his cheeks. Yemisi couldn’t believe her hears, nor her eyes either, this was the first time she’ll see her father cry, nothing had ever made him cry, even when his mother died, his expression was blank, no trace of sorrow or grieve, he was a man of steel. She then thought about what her mom and sister had told her on the phone, it was true afterall; her father, the General, indeed is a changed man. Yemisi embraced him with all her heart, and said to him, “I have forgiven you dad, I have done that long time ago” “Please forgive me dad. I came here to seek your forgiveness, for going against you, for disobeying you” she broke down in tears again, she had loved and respected her dad so much that she had held him in a very high esteem, thinking how she rebelled, broke her heart further Her father pulled her back and said, “I have forgiven you my daughter, it wasn’t your fault, let by gone be gone to the past” “We shall be one family again, we shall be a happy family” he assured her. Yemisi’s mum who was standing by couldn’t hold her tears too as she saw father and daughter reunite and reconcile, she came to embrace them both, then looked over her shoulder and saw Yinka tip toeing, trying to avoid the group hug, she wasn’t used to this kind of family affection and emotion, her mum then called on her to come join the family hug, she came although reluctant, she was indeed her father's daughter, they hugged for what seemed like forever until the driver came and cleared his throat, he wanted to ask for permission to leave, so Yemisi’s father allowed him to go, thereafter, he led the family into the house. They entered into their home feeling happy, feeling renewed, a feeling that has been strange to all of them, a feeling in their hearts that a new day has just begun in thier lives, the lives of the Olowolayemos. |
Very nice, good work you have here madam, good work. Keep 'em coming... |
tbaba1234: It's a very technical sport, got your mail. Great job. .Yeah, i agree it is technical, i read a little about amateur boxing, and i did throw some few jabs myself...when men were boys i guess that is why i prefer watching the olympic boxing matches sha.About the mail, thanks bro. |
^LOL But seriously, is boxing that fun? Nigerians would only be interested in a boxing match if it involves a Nigerian, apart from that, the round leather game all the way. |
siddiq202: ^Till when nau?Salam bro, I be wan surprise una o, but 'almighty' PHCN just cos kasala, imagine 2days now no light o... Make una no vex o, update na till when power comes back o(hopefully soon). |
Ha! No safe status?! May Allah continue to guide us all amin. I'm following mac's instructions, taking notes, no analysis or questions till the end of da story... @Betathings&tbaba, You guys are funny sha, pulling our oga at the top (Mac) legs abi? ![]() |
These guys are in hate mode, they just can't reason properly. Sometimes i wonder what kind of people are these, do they even think at all? Several post on lies concocted against muslims, none is condemning such acts, instead, they keep attacking Islam and Muslims. I really pity them, no one even tried to be objective. You claim you've been killed by some muslims in the north, if we were to take a survey i am sure 98% of those posting nonsense here are not a direct victim of BH, or any of their family members affected. But you can come on here and castigate law abiding Muslims, who suffer more cos of the attrocities committed by a group that hide under the banner of Islam. I have a friend who is a christian and a northerner, a direct victim of BH, never did he speak ill of Islam, why, cos he is enlightened, something which most people on here lack. Someone was writing about the pains of a victim of BH, i shake my head, does that give you the right to lie against Islam and Muslims? Your people lied about Islam and Muslims, it is glaring, admit it, condemn it, next time, be careful what information about Islam you peddle, don't try to look for excuses or justification it only makes you complicit, and that is bad, very bad! |
oyestephen: @sino fantastic work...I wonder what ade's reaction will be when he gets homeThanks bro, Loading...... Update, coming soon.... Watch out!!! ![]() |
princesa: i would have just won 1 million now, just for the hesitant of Stephen. do i have the sixth sense or what?It was a give away jor *rolls eyes* lol princesa: nice update, they were some poor sentence construction, work on itThank you, i'll look into it, thanks, really appreciate it. And i dey see ya handywork o ![]() |
^ you can say that again. I just don't know what to say, this story is getting to me... I see a stuggle, to be on the path, its genuine, from your write, i can feel it, and i suspect that you then is still inside of you now, what then happened?! I guess I'll never know until you finish, please continue... |
yunuspeace: Salam Alaykum brothers n siters.Wa alaykum salam, you are welcome. |
Good you made the decision to post this, i tell you, it really helps you develop your skills, cos you'll need/want to write better than your previous writes. As you know, i am also a budding writer(for my mind lol), i have my limitations too. Now to your story, you've succeded in making me enthralled, that is good, the idea is to always put your readers in suspense, you should try to continue with that.(now i'm curious, i want to know why Daisy and Jide are in a forced union...) You should read your writeup severally before posting(that's what i do), it helps to rid typos and grammar wahala, prefarably, you should use word processing softwares, it helps with typos and most grammatical errors. Good job, don't give up, keep writing. Looking forward to chapter 2... |
^Ameen InshAllah! *carries praying mat and tesbih to the thread* BTW, you r a good story teller sis naijababe, very interesting, fire on... |
AbdH: I've read him for some time now. He doesn't like to back down.Seriously, he is a funny one i tell you. |
deSika: aha! so u have been peeping at my threads and yu didnt have the mind to say anything. am sure they were so irrefutable tats y u cud not say anything.Your threads are very funny i must say, you were adequately answered by my brothers, but you just won't accept the truth. It's pointless going back and forth with someone with a closed mind. |
deSika: guy yu must really be a gud thinker if this is wat u come up with.Sighs! It's a simple analogy, in Islam, there is an order of prophethood, just like a queue, there is no rearrangement, it's fixed and their era and time are fixed. The prophet(SAW) was the last prophet sent to mankind, his message is still standing till eternity. desika: #let me draw a chart for yu so u understand.Very funny, it doesn't work like that in Islam, you need to study more about Islam my dear. The prophet (SAW) is the seal of prophethood, no "new" prophet would be ordained by God, Jesus prophethood came before that of Prophet Muhammed(SAW), its an order, the first cannot be the last. Jesus(AS) is NOT coming as a new or a last prophet, he preceds the Prophet (SAW) in prophethood, he'll come to preach what the last prophet(SAW) preached and follow his ways. He is coming to fulfill is life, we muslims believe he did not die, so when he comes, he is not being sent with a message, rather he would come to live his life complete. Do You know the message brought by prophet Muhammed (SAW)? Now tell me the new message that prophet Jesus(AS) would bring, so we can call him the last prophet. (according to Islam). Mind you, all what Jesus (AS) would come to do had been told to us by the Last prophet(SAW). I would have loved to quote hadiths about the coming of Jesus(AS), maybe that would disabuse your mind. Now think deeply before you reply this post, DO NOT CONFUSE CHRISTIANITY'S RETURN OF CHRIST WITH THAT OF ISLAM! PEACE! |
Lol, this guy is really trying hard o...lol When one listens to you, with all your faulty reasoning, one might just want to get a stick and trash your behind. I am in First bank right now, a very long queue, darn! network is bad, so i just step outside to get fresh air, told the guy behind me(who happens to be the last person) i'll be back, so when i come back, am i the last person? How many times have you been told to think on this forum? When Jesus comes back, is he coming as a new prophet? is he bringing a new religion? Now who needs more thinking to do? |
alexis: Chaaa! Some people want to desperately associate Jesus with VIOLENCE. HeheheheHa! very good, how beautiful you explained the Jesus Violent verses in the bible(mind you, there are more violent verses in the bible and yes, yes, i know its the old testament lol), it wasnt so hard was it? And you didnt feel anyway disturbed that i might not totally accept what you are saying shey? but you really want me to, cos you believe its the truth abi? The verses were written in simple english na, how come you need to quote from other parts of the scripture to explain? How come you need to tell me a story about a king and his servant? Why in the world did you need to tell me that it was a parable?! Why can't i just take the statement as it is? Now next time you want to post verses from the Qur'an that supports violence, you should think about your own posts about jesus preaching violence in the bible and this my post too ![]() Before you misconstrue my submission, let me simply inform you that, those verses are commands to fight no doubt, but there is a context, there is a history, and there is a shariah(rulings) as regards to interpretation of those verses, and it would do you a lot of good if you go study a little about Islam from Muslims perhaps you start from the link posted by tintingz. Thank you. |
BetaThings: Why not? I believe the halal/haram thing can boil down toI understand you, but the problem is the "Nigerian factor" whereby you just don't have a choice. Take for example the block business, while transporting the sand you'll use, the truck might be held by the NPF, and you know what must happen, you'll have to factore this into the cost price of producing a block abi? There are other issues too, Mac mentioned the source of the goods, some wholesalesrs are into dubious things(well, we can say since you don't know, no harm), people are just too corrupt in this country, unless you don't want to make huge sales which can guaranty making the big bucks. I am not in anyway supporting haram income, but sometimes, your hands are tied. The best is just don't go into haram business knowingly. One other thing that sickens me is when people come to buy things from you, after bargaining and almost denying you of any profit, then they tell you to write a phoney receipt with exorbitant prices. Argh! What do you do? And you need to make the sale o |
Ade got to Frazcorp oil and gas office at Funsho Williams avenue, he saw a mammoth crowd in front of the building and was wandering what could be wrong this early, his heart started pounding faster and he couldn’t breathe properly, “this must not be what I am thinking” he said to himself. He got into the compound, everywhere was in disarray, they formed little clusters of discussion group, and they all looked bothered and concerned. Ade tried to find out what was really going on, so he approached a man on suit and thought maybe he could give some information in regards to what was going on, “Good morning sir, what is happening here” he inquired “Yes, this megalopolis is construed to be proportionately infested by psychomaniacs” “Ehn?!” Ade looking more confused “Hehehehehehe, you are a mad man hehehehehe” the man continued to chuckle and grin at the same time. No one told Ade before he quickly moved along, “this one no gbadun o” he thought. Still moving through the crowd and trying to figure out what was really amiss, he heard a woman shout, so he quickly tried to locate the direction of the sound then he saw a fat woman who was already rolling on the floor crying and sweating profusely, people tried to pull her up but she was so fat and wouldn’t even let them help her. “Ha! Temi bami!, owo wo gbo!” “Ha kini ma so fun iya bose, iya tanwa” she rolled on the floor again crying “Owo cooperative” she said and kept on crying. It gradually dawned on him that definitely what was feared had happened, they had all been duped! He was dejected, depressed and angry, what in the world could make people do such a thing?! People are just plain selfish and heartless; he looked around and saw different kinds of people, from the elderly, to the youth, male and female, all being duped by some few people who are just selfish. He decided to leave, cos there was nothing else to be done, the office was under lock and keys anyway. He later got information that they had stopped coming to the place for almost a week now, he shook his head in pity, pity for himself, how come he fell for such a trick; he swore to kill them with his bare hands if he ever meets with any of them face-to-face. As he was about to step out of the gate, he saw policemen and officers from the economic and financial crimes commission(EFCC), there was nothing more to find out, he thought, surely they have been 419ed. Outside the gate, he saw the men from EFCC addressing the crowd, he needn’t go inside to listen to what they had to say, the expression of the crowd said it all, people screamed and cried, both hands on their head, the fat woman was at it again, on the floor whaling seriously, this woman needs special attention he thought. Ade stood outside the gate for what seemed like forever, thinking what else to do, where to go, he remembered Yemisi was ill and would need medical attention; he remembered he needed to pay house rent, all these troubled him, he walked along the road as if he was being pushed, someone whose life worth nothing, he was nothing. He got to the bus stop and stood oblivious of what was happening around him, he was deep in thought, life had no meaning to him again, perhaps death is better he thought, if he died, all his sufferings would end, what was he even living for anyway. ****** Yemisi’s mother and her younger sister were at the arrival lounge waiting for her, the moment they saw her, they couldn’t hide their happiness, her mother couldn’t hold back the tears as she saw what her daughter had become, far from how she looked before, stress, poor diet and living condition were written all over her, but she was happy though, extremely happy that her daughter was back. “Welcome, oko mi, hope the journey wasn’t stressful?” “Thank you ma, not at all, the journey was okay” she replied. “Sister mi, you look so skinny, aren’t you eating?” her sister teased “Shut up and help your sister with her bag” her mum snapped at Yinka Yemisi laughed and wasn’t bothered at all, she was happy to be back with her family, seeing her mother and her sister was like a dream come true. The driver carried the bags into the boot and they were ready to go, she and her mom sat in the back while Yinka sat next to the driver, she didn’t sit still, she was often turning back to look at her sister and listen to the chit-chat. Yemisi, took in the beautiful scenery of Abuja, things had changed since the last time she was here she noticed, as the car navigate the familiar roads and places, she felt nostalgic, she remembered her friends, the endless shopping, how much she had loved doing that, but now, she felt it was a pure waste, there is more to life than that, she had tasted poverty, she knew how the pangs of hunger felt, she became determined to always assist the less privileged in the society no matter what. They got home, and Yemisi couldn’t believe her eyes, the house looked bigger and extremely beautiful, a 5 bedroom mansion sitting on a 4 and half plot of land, there is a swimming pool and a basket ball/lawn tennis court, flowers were planted all round which added extra beauty to the structure. Yemisi was still admiring the structure, something she never did while living in it, when she saw her father on the porch. Her feeling was mixed, happiness and anger, she felt her heartbeat raised, she didn’t know how to greet him, what to say or even how to look at him, she stood there transfixed. |
Days went by, Ade and Yemisi were at loggerheads, with each party adamant to their position, life was though, and Yemisi had had enough, she wanted to go home, she wanted to go relieve herself from the melancholy she constantly feel everyday of her life with her husband. It was Friday the 30th of April, the day Ade had been anticipating, he woke up with a smile on his face, today I shall be a 100,000 richer he thought, he had invested 12,000 naira money meant for their six months’ rent and also, 40,000 naira he collected from uncle Banjo to start a recharge card business. His spirit was high, so he wanted to reconcile with his wife, they had not talked as husband and wife for days, and he himself had felt the effect so hard, he felt so lonely for those number of days. “Wake up onitemi, its morning already, aren’t you going to work?” Ade said nudging his wife Yemisi was surprised, what had entered into her husband this morning, or is he tired of behaving like a 10year old who lost his play toy, she thought. “Wake up now, you’ll be late for work o” Ade continued to tap her gently Yemisi opened her eyes and saw that the room was still a little bit dark, then she noticed the grin on Ade’s face, she thought “what in the world is he so excited about?” “Today is Friday you know, I’ll be going over to Ojuelegba today at the oil and gas company to collect the money” Yemisi still talking within herself, “oh dear, I had totally forgotten about that, is that why he is this excited” she asked herself She felt sorry for him again and then thought what she was about to do to him, maybe it wasn’t fair, maybe it was the right thing to do afterall, “Ah han, say something na, I am talking to you” Ade snapped at her “Good morning, I heard what you said” she quickly replied “Once I get the money, I’ll just come over to the landlord and pay him immediately” he said “I knew he was just bluffing about going to court, he was just trying to scare me” he continued Yemisi didn’t know what to say, she just kept on looking at him as if he was not there “What is even wrong with you?!” he shouted, obviously annoyed “Why are you doing as if you can’t understand what I am saying?” he asked still looking annoyed “I am sorry” she replied, “I think I am not feeling fine” “What is the matter?” “What is wrong with you” he inquired “I don’t know, I feel very tired and weak, I think its malaria” Before Yemisi could finish her statement, she got up swiftly and took a bowl that was lying close to the bed, and she vomited immediately. “This is serious o!” Ade exclaimed, “You’ll have to go to the hospital o” Yemisi waved him off, and said “I don’t think so; I’ll just go and get an anti-malaria drug once I’m through with my daily routine” “No, this is serious; when last did you even vomit because you had malaria?” “I think you should go to the hospital, so they can do a test to know whether its malaria or typhoid” he insisted “There is no money for that now, moreover, I think I need rest and I’ve already informed them at the school that I won’t be coming today” Yemisi replied “Okay then, I’ll quickly go, so I’ll be back early for you to go to the hospital” Ade said conclusively “Okay, no problem” she replied him. Ade quickly gets about preparing himself and set out to Ojuelegba, office of Frazcorp oil and gas limited without wasting much time. As soon as Ade left the house, Yemisi who had her own plans, was also preparing to leave, she had planned to travel to Abuja, she had requested her mummy to send her money for transport cos she didn't have that much with her, her mum had sent her money for flight, and her flight was to leave by 10:00 am. She looked around the room, she looked for any other of her belongings she would need, she felt sad and even became more determined to embark on her journey, they just can’t continue to live like this, and this is an opportunity to turn things around for good. At least she was meant to be a managing director in one of her father’s company; she’ll be entitled to a house and a car. And if what they are saying about her father is something to go by, then he’ll also have to help her husband she thought. She looked over the note she had written for her husband, she read it again and was satisfied with the contents, “he’ll understand” she thought, reassuring herself. She placed it on the centre table and placed the remote control on it so that Ade would see it. She left the house with her head raised high, looking towards a new life, better days ahead. |
maclatunji: LOL. Someone needs to educate us on how to make lots of money from 99% or is it 100% halal investments. Can any income be 100% halal? I wonder.100% halal?! In Nigeria of today? You go waka small o, may Allah assist us all.ameen. Maybe 85 - 95% halal, and that means you own your business, and you don't deal with government at any level. |
^Jazkumullah khayran, there is a lot to be factored in, it's really dicey, i'll still stick with my day job and less complicated investments. |
^hmmm, that's a good angle to look at it, there is definitely a need to exchange currencies, and you can't help it, prices fluctuates... I guess it's about those who trade old currencies for new ones with interest the hadith was talking about. Once i heard those things, my mind just comot for the thing. I think i am getting a clearer picture. So it's speculations/forecasting, where the major problem lies abi? |
What are you guys saying ooooo? I wanted to go into forex like 4yrs back and was told it is haram, that it involves trading in currencies(which was prohibited by the prophet), forecasting and its gambling... I think i understand the day trading in stocks, why it isnt permissible in Islam, is it the same principle we use to view forex trading too? |
^My sentiment exactly... I think the major issue is playing in front of men... Lol @ shopping for fatwa...Na wa o, make i go google small. |
@sis dominique and AmeerahFKI, Jazakumullahu khayran for showing your interests in this project. As you might have read, we are now moving ahead with the back to school project, and planning is the main issue at hand. If you would want to be part of the planning committee(or any other way in which you want to assist this projet), please do let us know. Thank you. |
