tbaba1234: Today, i heard a story about a woman who heard that her husband was planning to take a second wife. She decided that the best course of action was to pour acid on her husband's legs and on all of his clothes. They have four children together. Now, she is begging to come back after damaging the man's legs over a rumour.

The man's mother told my mum the story. The question is :why was it not reported to the police? A woman that can do that can probably kill.

The kind of paranoia, some of our sisters develop over polygyny is ridiculous. Sisters, it is sanctioned by Allah.. Take it easy and look for a way to make it work.

Abegg oooo!!
i guess the damage wasn't much, so they kept it within. but seriously she ought to be arrested.
Honestly, i don't think the man should accept her back or better still, he should marry another wife then accept her with a signed undertaking that she's going to live in peace with the family.

IslamRe: Islam For Muslims Challenge by sino(m): 6:58pm On Feb 25, 2013
BismiLLAHI ARAHMAN ARAHEEM

Abu hurayrah (R.A), real name Abd shams(literally servant of the sun), later renamed AbduRahman(servant of the beneficent Lord ) by the prophet (SAW), till date remains one of the most popular companion of the prophet(SAW). Personally, I haven’t read any Islamic literature without the mention of this wonderful sahabah.
A little background check,
Abu Hurayrah became a Muslim at the hands of at-Tufayl ibn Amr the chieftain of the Daws tribe to which he belonged. The Daws lived in the region of Tihamah which stretches along the coast of the Red Sea in southern Arabia. When at-Tufayl returned to his village after meeting the Prophet and becoming a Muslim in the early years of his mission, Abu Hurayrah was one of the first to respond to his call. He was unlike the majority of the Daws who remained stubborn in their old beliefs for a long time.
Abu Hurayrah stayed in Tihamah for several years and it was only at the beginning of the seventh year of the Hijrah that he arrived in Madinah with others of his tribe. The Prophet had gone on a campaign to Khaybar. Being destitute, Abu Hurayrah took up his place in the Masjid with other of the Ahl as-Suffah. He was single, without wife or child.

Abu Hurayrah and the Prophet (SAW)
Abu Hurayrah loved the Prophet a great deal and found favor with him. He was never tired of looking at the Prophet whose face appeared to him as having all the radiance of the sun and he was never tired of listening to him. He was given abu Hurayrah by the Prophet(SAW), once he was sited with the Prophet and he kept a little kitten under his garment and was playing with it, the Prophet, who also was reported to be a lover of cat, noticed him and said “ya Aba Hurayarah” (oh father of a kitten). Often he would praise God for his good fortune and say: "Praise be to God Who has guided Abu Hurayrah to Islam." Praise be to God Who has taught Abu Hurayrah the Quran." "Praise be to God who has bestowed on Abu Hurayrah the companionship of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace." He accompanied The Prophet on many journeys and expeditions.

Abu hurayrah, a very sharp guy cheesy
On reaching Madinah, Abu Hurayrah set his heart on attaining knowledge. Zayd ibn Thabit the notable companion of the Prophet reported: "While Abu Hurayrah and I and another friend of mine were in the Masjid praying to God Almighty and performing dhikr to Him, the Messenger of God appeared. He came towards us and sat among us. We became silent and he said: "Carry on with what you were doing."
"So my friend and I made a supplication to God before Abu Hurayrah did and the Prophet began to say Ameen to our dua. "Then Abu Hurayrah made a supplication saying: "O Lord, I ask You for what my two companions have asked and I ask You for knowledge which will not be forgotten." "The Prophet, peace be on him, said: 'Ameen.' "We then said: 'And we ask Allah for knowledge which will not be forgotten, and the Prophet replied: 'The Dawsi youth has asked for this before you." "With his formidable memory, Abu Hurayrah set out to memorize in the four years that he spent with the Prophet, the gems of wisdom that emanated from his lips. He realized that he had a great gift and he set about to use it to the full in the service of Islam.

Abu Hurayrah, the hadith memorizer
Yeah, he was one of the prominent companions to memorize and narrate hadith of the Prophet (SAW). Many companions were amazed at the number of hadith he had memorized and often questioned him on when he had heard a certain hadith and under what circumstances. Once Marwan ibn al-Hakam wanted to test Abu Hurayrah's power of memory. He sat with him in one room and behind a curtain he placed a scribe, unknown to Abu Hurayrah, and ordered him to write down whatever Abu Hurayrah said. A year later, Marwan called Abu Hurayrah again and asked him to recall the same ahadith which the scribe had recorded. It was found that he had forgotten not a single word.

Abu Hurayrah, a man dedicated to knowledge
Abu Hurayrah was concerned to teach and transmit the ahadith he had memorized and knowledge of Islam in general. It is reported that one day he passed through the suq of Madinah and naturally saw people engrossed in the business of buying and selling.
"How feeble are you, O people of Madinah!" he said. "What do you see that is feeble in us, Abu Hurayrah?" they asked. "The inheritance of the Messenger of God, peace be on him, is being distributed and you remain here! Won't you go and take your portion?" "Where is this, O Abu Hurayrah?" they asked. "In the Masjid," he replied. Quickly they left. Abu Hurayrah waited until they returned. When they saw him, they said: "O Abu Hurayrah, we went to the Masjid and entered and we did not see anything being distributed." "Didn't you see anyone in the Masjid?" he asked. "O yes, we saw some people performing Salat, some people reading the Quran and some people discussing about what is halal and what is haram." "Woe unto you," replied Abu Hurayrah," that is the inheritance of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace."
Abu Hurayrah underwent much hardship and difficulties as a result of his dedicated search for knowledge. He was often hungry and destitute. But that didn’t stop his search and teaching of Islamic knowledge.
Abu Hurayrah, a man of spirituality
Much of Abu Hurayrah's time would be spent in spiritual exercises and devotion to God. Qiyam al-Layl staying up for the night in prayer and devotion - was a regular practice of his family including his wife and his daughter. He would stay up for a third of the night, his wife for another third and his daughter for a third. In this way, in the house of Abu Hurayrah no hour of the night would pass without ibadah, dhikr and Salat.

Abu Hurayrah, a man of integrity
During the caliphate of Umar, Umar appointed him as governor of Bakrain. Umar was very scrupulous about the type of persons whom he appointed as governors. He was always concerned that his governors should live simply and frugally and not acquire much wealth even though this was through lawful means. In Bahrain, Abu Hurayrah became quite rich. Umar heard of this and recalled him to Madinah. Umar thought he had acquired his wealth through unlawful means and questioned him about where and how he had acquired such a fortune. Abu Hurayrah replied: "From breeding horses and gifts which I received." "Hand it over to the treasury of the Muslims," ordered Umar. Abu Hurayrah did as he was told and raised his hands to the heavens and prayed: "O Lord, forgive the Amir al-Muminin." Subsequently, Umar asked him to become governor once again but he declined. Umar asked him why he refused and he said: "So that my honor would not be besmirched, my wealth taken and my back beaten." And he added: "And I fear to judge without knowledge and speak without wisdom."
How I wish we can say this about our present leaders…

Abu Hurayrah, a man who loved his mother
When Abu hurayrah accepted Islam, his mother was a mushrik, this saddened him, kso he asked the prophet kto pray that Allah soften his mother’s heart to Islam. The kProphet(SAW) supplicated to Allah and his mother accepted Islam. Throughout his life Abu Hurayrah remained kind and courteous to his mother. Whenever he wanted to leave home, he would stand at the door of her room and say: As-salaamu alaykum, yaa ummataah, wa rahrnatullahi wa barakatuhu, peace be on you, mother, and the mercy and blessings of God." She would reply: "Wa alayka-s salaam, yaa bunayya, wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu - And on you be peace, my son, and the mercy and blessings of God." Often, he would also say: "May God have mercy on you as you cared for me when I was small," and she would reply: "May God have mercy on you as you delivered me from error when I was old." Abu Hurayrah always encouraged other people to be kind and good to their parents. One day he saw two men walking together, one older than the other. He asked the younger one: "What is this man to you?" "My father," the person replied. "Don't call him by his name. Don't walk in front of him and don't sit before him," advised Abu Hurayrah.

It was reported that Abu Hurayrah(R.A) died at the age of 78years, in the year 59 A.H.
Indeed, Abu Hurayrah (R.A) was one of the greatest companions of the Prophet (SAW).

babyosisi: The assembly was called at 4 PM ( Lagos schools close at 2PM we read from someone)
Mrs Ukpaka called an emergency assembly so students and teachers were present 2 hours after school had dismissed?
Mrs Ukpaka ordered her to be beaten meaning someone else was ordered to beat her,,so who did the beating?
The individual has no name?
I believe this is a witchunt on a school principal and nothing more
The story doesn't add up
Mr man, lagos public schools close later than 2pm(unless its been reversed). Students were either engaged in extra lessons or reading. most public school students in my area return home 4 or 5pm.
The principal was the mastermind behind the flogging, she and the person that carried out this heinous crime should be dealt with accordingly.
and please save us your rhetorics, we know how your heart is filled with hatred towards Islam. what is wrong is wrong, the principal here did something very bad.

LagosShia: Madam or Mr,

Hijab is not a tie you put and take off for fashion.its a religious matter that if not properly handled can lead to a situation of racism, hatred and intolerance.

The beating shows the deep hatred that evil thing had in her mind for Muslims/Islam.I wonder what brought her to Lagos.
Imagine o, more than 43 strokes on a 12year old girl! she must be sacked, and sent to a mental home. she's not fit to work in a school.

This is very wrong, i thought that it had been passed to law allowing Muslim female students to use hijab in Lagos public schools. Even, Gov. Fasholah had prohibited flogging in public schools! The principal must be sanctioned.

IslamRe: Jinn Stories by sino(m): 9:55am On Nov 28, 2012
No personal experience, heard a lot of stories from my dad and also alfas in my hood.

I heard from my dad the possibilities of communicating with jinns, the process is quite fuzzy now, what i can remember is that you need a young person especially one who hasnt had any intimate relations with anyone. The young person can see and communicate with these jinns after many rituals and incantations(mostly the name of the jinns).
Some people use them to inquire about lost persons and also some people use them for other purposes like fortune or knowledge.

Heard about people being possesed by jinns as well, saw some few peeps who were said to have been possesed, them no dey ordinary o, crazy tins.

Now the info i got from an alfa, he told me he can give me some incantations i can do to call on a jinn, the timing and what i should do when eventually the jinn comes...he told me the jinn may come in form of a raging fire or a lion or some very dangerous creature, he said if i should get frighten then i would be in trouble(might go insane from there)...did i try it? Hell No, he(alfa) himself behaves funny, might well be thaat he himself is possesed lol. There are other stories, but i'll stop here...
I know you have something up ya sleeves, o ya lets hear.

I advice you take it to a computer technician.
IslamRe: Do Nigerian Muslims Really Believe That They Are Descendants Of Adam? by sino(m): 5:39pm On Nov 26, 2012
Logicboy03: I have always said it that it is only religion that can make rational person pull nonsense out of his behind and claim that it makes sense!

Seriously? God speaks Hebrew and gave Adam a Hebrew name but Adam is the first man? How does that make sense? You ridicule your own God! So, you are now admitting that some languages existed before your God? Men were speaking other languages years before Hebrew.
Muhehehehe!
Dis logicboy no go kill me with laff o...
God created man and the language he speaks. Using the name to prove adam is not the firstman to me, is baseless. God named him Adam.
logicboy03: Adam is not a Yoruba name. Shut up. Stop pulling things from nowhere.
Hehehehe. You didnt get the joke?
Well, because adam has a meaning in hebrew doesnt mean that it is originally hebrew. Gerrit?

logicboy03: Straw man- no one here has said that the universe comes from nothing

Straw man-no one here has said that all life comes from a single unicellular organism.

If you weren't ignorant about science, you would no that there is no such ting as "nothing" even empty space is something. All we have is evidence of something. The big bang is an expansion of something- space. Furthermore, the science is that life came from single-celled prokaryotic cells, such as bacteria (plural)
You need to go back to a basic science class bro. Unicellular organism are prokaryotes, single-celled organisms. For life to have evolved up to this level, what kind of massive mutations are we looking at?

logicboy03: Humans will produce more evolved humans.

Terminology can be deceiving but we are nothing more than evolved apes
No, not me, you definately are an ape.
How many millions of years are wait for the super humans?

logicboy03: Nonsense. Are you arguing now that humans devolved (evolved backwards) from a superhuman Adam?

Evolution is not an assumption. Your comment is invalid. NEXT!
Lol, give me a break bro, i am also trying to do what your scientist do, hypothesize. Well, Adam is a super human though, Allah(swt) taught him everything!
Evolution is still an assumption. Even with all the fossils and DNA analysis. The assumption of massive mutation and complex changes in species.
if i may ask you, what is the driviing force of evolution? Why do we evolve?

logicboy03: Finally, the appeal to the Quran, just like Tbaba did.

Tell me when the Quran has ever produced an ideal society that respects human rights
Last time i checked, this is Islam for muslims section, what else would i quote if not the Qur'an?
IslamRe: Do Nigerian Muslims Really Believe That They Are Descendants Of Adam? by sino(m): 4:25pm On Nov 26, 2012
First and foremost, about the name Adam, it really doesnt prove anything, for it was just a name, Allah(swt) in His wisdom choose it, for all i care, He might well Name the first man Sino! Let me amuse you a little, do you know that Adam is a yoruba word? Ok, it is originally "a da mo..."(imo), meaning literally, we created him with...(knowledge). Now dont come asking me for my source, its simply my language wink.

I find it funny you stating that, it cannot be scientifically proven that we all came from two people, but you can fully understand and also prove that we came from a simple, single unicellular organism? Or that the whole universe came from nothing?!

The human genome contains about 3billion DNA molecules, each being replicated, transcribed and translated with apt specificity, even, there happens to be a check mechanism to eliminate errors. This makes it completely certain that, humans, will definately reproduce humans.

Well, its quite unfortunate that we cant get a sample of the first man's DNA to know what information it carries, but the Qur'an makes me understand that Allah had created Adam and from his loins came all other human.

Let me come up with my own assumption...
Adam and eve, were encoded with information in regards to the various variations which can be found in all humans. As they beget children, some of these variations became pronounced in some of their offsprings and then still carrying other information which would later manifest...(dominant and recessive genes)

Another factor, is the fact that mutation do occur, which can be inherited, and as a result of that, various kind of variation were also established.

Humans also needed to adapt to different environment they happen to find themselves, hence the need to develop new characteristics to adapt. An example of such adaptation, even though not human, is the ability of a prokaryotic cell(E. Colli) to synthesize new genes to make use of lactose for energy when it finds itself in a lactose environment instead of glucose.

Guy, abeg, i'll rather stick wiv the Qur'an than some assumption of evolution.
LiteratureRe: Is The Use Of Child Soldiers, A Good Phenomenon Or Not - Nigerian Online Debate by sino(m): 11:34pm On Nov 24, 2012
very good debates by all the ladies, kudos to y'all.
This was meant to be reasons i wanted to vote for cleopatra 1:
1. I like her introduction, it almost erased my sentimental position, i almost felt there might be a good thing afterall in child soldiers.

2. She raised logical points on the overall benefits of child soldiers, especially to the children, the points look good albeit on the surface.

3. Its evident that she did do her research, making informed presentation and referencing when apropriate.

4, Another point which i feel is also good is; "it seems to be a common fallacy to be comparing children in peaceful and posperous societies to those trying to survive in war-torn ones and conclude from this, that child soldering is entirely negative, and thus undesirable, for children. War, with its multiplier effect, often creates new social, economic, and political systems and relationand compels people to constantly negotiate, adapt and strategise their options and relationships, however difficult their circumstances might be."

5. and the conclusion, well what can i say, good. It brings to perspective the eventual consequences that might arise, be it war crimes or the after effects of war. children exposed to war who might eventually tend towards violence or become psycopaths should be rehabilitated and/or punished(although not equal to that of an adult) according to the crime.

Congrats to cleopatra1, and i want to think i know this contestant sha.
