if that is the case, it is also the turn of a bini man,Igala man, Kanuri, Nupe, Efik, Ibibio, tangible, and mummy to be President of Nigeria.
. Nigeria has three major tribes. Two of the major tribes were compensated by the presidential office. It's the turn of the Ndi Ibo to produce a president if you believe in justice.

For all you mentioned above, and the so-called 'injustice' suffered by the South East, maybe you should look towards the PDP! Let's be realistic, the SE carried PDP on their head like gala, but has never being considered for the presidency by the same party! Are you telling me that the SE don't have any leverage to hold PDP by their 'blokos'
Tinubu(a cofounder of APC) worked his ass out to win the party's primaries, he didn't just say 'emilokan' , he went all out to talk to delegates...this is politics!

As par Obj and GEJ, its still the same PDP overlooking its support base (South East)!
Moving forward, I think this forthcoming election will teach our leaders a lesson on Human Capacity Building, Networking across religion, ethnic and political divides, ability to always think deep and think ahead, performance in office and that there's no justice anywhere in politics!

Finally, prior to decamping to Labour Party,if the PDP had zoned its presidential slot to the south East, will Obi even be considered as a consensus Igbo presidential candidate? I doubt it!!!
. Obi is contesting to be a Nigerian President, this is above party issues. It is Ibo's turn to be in Aso rock. I may not like their lifestyle but I am talking about justice.

Your last paragraph... A contradiction!

'Permitting Peter Obi.....strengthen our democracy'...how?

Victory in any democratic system(either rigged or fair election) must be 'worked' for! Not by 'permission'!
Due to the cruel killing of his brother, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua received compensation. In order to establish peace with the Southwest, Obasanjo was released from prison and MAKE president. We Nigerians were allowed to elect Goodluck Jonathan as president so that we could keep stealing oil from the Niger Delta. What tribes run for president when? Read some of my threads to see that I may not share a bed with most Igbo, but I still support justice.

If any tribe should feel entitled and stake their claim to the Presidency, chanting, “Emi lokan,” it’s the Igbo that should – even though the federation has grown suspicious of them since the January 1966 coup and the July 1966 retaliatory counter-coup, yet the Nigerian political knee has been hard on the Igbo neck, making breathing difficult.

It’s in this light that the psychology of Obi’s quest for the presidency is mainly backed by the Igbo vociferously. In Nigeria’s political demography, however, the South-East region possesses the least voter population among the three main regions whose indigenes are contesting. Inarguably, the Igbo, being itinerant, have presence in all states of the federation, but there’s no state where they outnumber the natives. As a Nigerians therefore, allowing Peter Obi to become president is necessary for both justice and equity. It is morally correct to do so.

I know other groups have a high level of distrust towards Igbos in governmental positions. This is primarily because of the civil war. Some believe that Igbo do not regard themselves as Nigerians, but rather as Biafrans, and that they will utilize the highest office in the land, the presidency, to destabilize the country and attempt another secession.

Personally, I don't think they'll want to abandon Nigeria's booming population, free market, and oil in the Niger Delta and stay in a landlocked small dot that can be washed away by common erosion. Again, Nigeria is the center of sovereignty. All of these letters to the globe and petitions to the United Nations are making a lot of noise. Only Nigeria has the ability to abolish itself.

There are eccentrics who desire "freedom" in every country in the globe. As long as they follow the rules, they are amused. Once they start acting violently, nations band together to deny them recognition so as not to create an unfavorable precedent.

Permitting Peter Obi to become president will soothe the ndi Ibo's nerves. It will also strengthen our democracy. The world will view Nigeria as a country where using common sense pays well.

Yesterday, at about 4:12pm I was at my boss's POS stand when a woman dressed in a full wine attire walk-up to my stand and asked me if I can direct her to her Son's House address around Sabon-Gari.

I obliged and she showed me a white paper. As I was struggling to read the address, my head started paining me and the writing became blurry. Immediately, I sat down and that was the last thing I remembered.

The next time I got consciousness, I noticed the money in my bag about 89,000 had gone. Before I could shout, she wasn't anywhere to be found.

I called my boss and narrated the ordeal to him and he became furious. He took me to my mum Beauty shop at the road side and mandated I get his money and he sacked me without hearing me out. He thinks it's my fault.

I was thinking he will allow me work so that he can be removing the money from my monthly salary of 12k but he didn't hear me out.

Please nairlander family, was my boss right for sacking and mandating me to look for his money or not I will be arrested?

This looks like political propaganda. Yes, Peter Obi may seem to be the lesser of 3 evils on the surface, but we all know that the dirty deeds of all the presidential candidates will make Peter Obi's (PO) pandora paper dealings seem like a joke. I don't believe he's a man of integrity.

The same optimism you have for PO to liberate nigeria now, is the same optimism we had about buhari during Johnathan's Era.

We all have freedom to type, but you see, for everyone with a PVC, opinions change. A die hard PO fan on nairaland.com can suddenly change his mind at the polls. Yes you are priming people's minds, but in the face of 10,000 naira and a few dericas of rice and tomato paste, your candidate may end up losing, thereby repeating the mistakes of 8 years ago.

I don't care who wins, because none of them can do anything to change or improve this country. No matter what they do, we will always complain and refuse to hold ourselves responsible for today's state of the country.

So how many hoodlums is PO ready to hire? how much is he willing to pay to buy our votes?

Election period is time to cash out after all. Let's grab our share of the national cake
. You occasionally have different viewpoints on matters, and that is one thing I love about you. Accepting that we will disagree I'm delighted you concur that Peter represents a lesser evil. He won't transform Nigeria overnight, but he can build the groundwork for a prosperous economy.

Obi actively looks for ways to make things better for them. As a result, he left a much stronger treasury than governors of states with an oil industry at the end of his term. Given that Anambra State often earns less than 10% of what the oil-producing states receive from the monthly distributable revenue, this should sound like the eighth wonder of the world.

I'd rather not even vote than to vote for any of the 4 popular candidates.
As governor of Anambra State, this lifestyle required a distinct approach to administering the state's affairs. Unlike any of his contemporaries, he eliminated the sources of waste, significantly decreased the cost of governance, and carried out the business of governance in a way that was far more transparent. More importantly, while serving as governor, he reduced the number of aides, needless extras, and privileges that had been incorrectly connected to a high post. Even Senior Prefects from all public schools had access to his phone number and could call him personally with any issues they had because he maintained an open government. He was well equipped to feel the pulse of the people he had the honor to oversee since he made openness a governmental policy.

The op sound like a very intelligent person, I must commend your ability to remain neutral in your write up but it would have been good that you revealed your own tribe at the end.

Back to your write up, you made salient points and made some fallacious conclusions in some.

For example, you said Igbos don't have that sense of oneness as a people and are never a nation until 1967 when Ojukwu tried to breakaway Biafra.

Listen op, it was the loss of the war that scattered the Igbos. Igbos are even the number one tribe that practice oneness more than others. Before the civil war, there is a popular adage in Igbo that says; "onye aghala nwanne ya", this was the symbol of Igbo tribe even when they started migrating to cities, they continued having "umu nna" meetings, the age grade meetings and the community associations of various Igbo communities where people from the same Igbo communities came together in cities where they lived to discuss ways to help one another and how to help their communities and people back in Igbo land.

These associations led to massive developments of Igbo communities as they contributed to execute projects like town halls, community water projects, scholarships, etc which helped Igbo rural communities develop faster than other tribes in Nigeria without the help or contribution of governments.

This same oneness of Igbos brought about the Igbo widely practiced "igba boi" that made success in trade and entrepreneurship to circulate among Igbos.

The disunity of Igbos only started after the civil war broke out and most of you don't know the negative effect of losing civil war, especially in a black African nation filled with biles and savages from other competing tribes wishing others perpetual death and backwardness.

If Igbos weren't united like most of you assume, do you think it would have been easy for Ojukwu to convince Igbos to go to war when Gowon declared Police action against Biafra after Ojukwu announced Biafra secession?

Did you think Igbos would have stood solidly behind Nzeogwu after he carried the coup that he never consulted them for?

Northerners only became united after the January 1966 coup and civil war while Igbos became disorganized after the war.

But those times have passsed, as Igbos of today are more than united than ever in history as you can see among IPOB.

No other Nigerian tribe will agree to be paying monthly dues from their individual pockets to achieve a communal struggle except the Igbos.

IPOB members are paying monthly contributions for years till date irrespective of accusations and propaganda against IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu just because of the love Igbos have for Biafra.

I stay in Anambra briefly, where all other Ibo are anu fia (bush meat). For an Ibo guy, everything is done for his own benefit, not for the good of the nation, but Peter Obi is an exception.
Tell me which other Nigerian tribe can show such unity by action not by mere words and in partying and celebrations?

[quote author=DaddyFreeze2020 post=116525452]The Nairaland Moderators will not like to push this one to front page...since the article has promoted Peter Obi but overlooked Tinubu and Atiku.

BTW all Igbos supporting Peter Obi should realise winning elections in Nigeria is a communal effort from all tribes, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Ijaw etc and stop castigating others if they choose to support another candidate.
No Presidential candidate no matter how good he is can win elections without the support votes from all the tribes across Nigeria. Igbos should learn a lessom from Awolowo. He was very good but never became President.
