Razzness: The truth is there was never any proper lockdown in this country. What we have is just an economic and academic lockdown. People still travel from maiduguri to lagos, kids are just playing in the street all day, among adults, social distance is a joke. What they succeeded in doing was just to lock up schools, markets and worship places, aside that every other social interaction still goes on. This . What exactly are they easing . |

Well i doubt if FG will listen to ASUU because according to the minister of education, coronavirus is here to stay for a long time. They might just open schools in phases.
Moreover this headline is confusing. I appreciate your comment but point of my comment was on the fact that people don't even know what's going on so how are they going to protect themselves |

I am sure there are a lot of things you do not believe in but the government still has laws as regards them. You obey those laws not because you believein them but because you do not want the punishment attached to breaking the law. Your next comment (if any) will determine how i understand your comprehension ability. How are people going to take preventive measures when majority don't believe it exists or now purport it as a scam . And what laws are you talking about |

Seun: Just enforce the face-mask rule and social distancing. Why is that so hard for them? They are the government. Govern. Enforce the bleeping rules. Don’t go for another brainless lockdown, for the love of God.
We will have massive unrest if there is another lockdown. Any small mistake by a police officer and people will be on the streets. Any slight disagreement between a Muslim and a Christian and Lagos could be on fire. And the disease will spread even faster. If it's hard for a first world nation like US to enforce the same rules, how is Nigeria a country playing catch up going to do the same . The way I see it, Nigerians have said let the virus take its course. If you contract it no wahala |

isthatso: A properly implemented lockdown halts the spread. It simple common sense....if people are not interacting with others, they cant spread the disease, those who have it will surface, get cured or die. if properly implemented after 2 months the virus is gone.
It is not a coincidence that numbers started rising once US and Nigeria relaxed the lockdowns, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
People making excuses up and down because they were not prepared to take the small pain to avoid a bigger pain, but the pain you will take, so since we have decided to avoid small pain, then bigger pain it is! You can only control people for so long. I doubt any country truly has the capacity to enforce and sustain a strict and complete 2 months lockdown especially when you aren't China . The social and economic strain would be too much. Nigerians hardly comply with anything so it's not that strange our own broke after a week. Honestly unless you take massive day 1 response from the get go the virus will just have to take its course. But what is annoying here is people denying the existence of the virus |

isthatso: Lockdown had no effect because we didnt allow it to work. All the countries that imposed lockdowns and enforced it are seeing their numbers go down dramatically e.g Asia and Europe. The countries that refused to enforce lockdowns or were too eager to reopen before it was safe are seeing their numbers increase steadily e.g US, Brazil, Nigeria. Lockdown only slows the spread and buys time to take action and figure out what comes next aka strategy. Those countries strengthened their testing, tracing and treating capabilities. Nigeria did neither . |
