The Bible is supposedly God's perfect Word. It contains instructions to humankind for avoiding the eternal fires of hell. How wonderful and kind of this God to provide us with this means of overcoming the problems for which he is ultimately responsible! The all-powerful God could have, by a mere act of will, eliminated all of the problems we humans must endure, but instead, in his infinite wisdom, he has opted to offer this indecipherable amalgam of books which is the Bible as a means for avoiding the hell which he has prepared for us. The perfect God has decided to reveal his wishes in this imperfect work, written in the imperfect language of imperfect man, translated, copied, interpreted, voted on, and related by imperfect man.

By the way the Darby Publisher of NIV Bible are just about to begin a new edition, by theirgender appropriate editing just about to begin right now! And oh, JeSoul started a thread where NIV was hatcheed out against others, as more reliable, verses misssing in others, etc. And who will forget the catholic Bible fuller than the Protestants, yet the protestants call the catholics Pagans?

I have not seen a bible in over three months since i left manhattan! while i was in manhattan, i do not look at the bible, even though i have one or two on the shelves. am muslim and what need is a bible, a torah or a hindu book, etc to me when Quran Karim and Ahadith/Sunnah books and Sirah and others are available to enrich me?

aisha2, leave Islamic name and take a name from the many names of christianity. i think it is a deceit to continue to bear Aisha! my mother took the name Mariam after she became a muslim woman. and my wife took Zainab as her name. neither of these women bore a typical christian name like deborah, ester or others from the heritage of judaism, since christians always get themselves in the same string tie.

former christians who became muslims here in the USA often take a muslim name. they abandone paul, etc and take up Jabir, Mas'ud, etc! do same.
