Politics / They Deceived General Iron To His Death BY ATTAH OCHINKE by smemud(m): 4:33pm On Aug 27, 2021 |
Thomas Obi Tawo, popularly called General Iron, was illiterate; an unexposed young man with the tendencies of a small time criminal. He is dead; hunted down and killed disgracefully like a rat. A lot of people, including me, believe he deserved his end. But I think Gen. Iron was deceived unto his death. The political system used and dumped him, and dodged from him when the chips were down. At the time of his death, the political system he thought he was serving had abandoned him; too ashamed to associate with him. Even the Government that gave him a high office in recognition of his atrocities, sacked him and withdrew the high office. He stood alone, naked, in his last days. He had no place to hide, none of the political associates accommodated him. He ran into the bush like a rat. Am sure the people he thought he was working with and working for avoided his phone calls in his troubled last days. The question, my dear Boki youths, is, are you being used by the political machinery of some politician to commit havoc? Will you be dumped and discarded like Gen. Iron after you commit the havoc they are sending you to commit? Will they dodge from you when you fall into trouble while playing their script? That is what happened to General Iron. General Iron imposed himself, by sheer acts of terrorism, as the political leader of Oku/Borum/Njua ward. His political party immediately recognised him as such. The State Government appointed him into the Cross River State cabinet as Special Adviser. He plucked out people’s eyes; he chopped off the toes of a Chief; he roasted some people on fire for being witches – about 4 of the victims died. Others are still struggling with their injuries, receiving poor medication in the village for first degree fire burns. General Iron tried to kill Thomas Onabe who escape with grevious injuries. Thomas Onabe, himself a Commissioner in the Cross River State Civil Service Commission, reported the matter to the law enforcement agencies and the political authorities and nothing happened. General Iron must have seen the lack of admonition to all his atrocities as an endorsement of his actions by the political system he served. So he was emboldened; gingered by the lack of condemnation. He started telling poor villagers, and those who do not tow the political line of the Government he served, that he will kill them and nothing will happen. Indeed he always say he will kill them and Governmentent will still give him money. And he was correct; because as he was killing and brutalizing people his salary was being paid by the Government. That was how he saw it. Remember, he was stark illiterate. None of his associates and fellow political leaders guided him as far as he directed his atrocities to their political opponents. They used him to “level the ground.” General Iron seized the Boki Oil Palm Estate owned by the State Government. The Government allowed him to keep it, he saw this as an endorsement of his actions and this encouraged him. He made millions of naira from the estate. They say he shared the loot to his political associates far beyond the borders of Boki. He bought guns from the proceeds and believed he was Rambo. Young men followed him because he had money to pay. Anybody that disagreed with him pays dearly, or is sent on exile. His political party recognized him as leader. He took political decisions concerning his ward. He was invited to political meetings where he sat with bloodstained hands, amongst those that called themselves political leaders. They hailed him and threw banters. They egged him on deliberately or by default. Iron became a lord unto himself, egged on by the system. So he tried to work for the system that has recognized him, endorsed his crimes, and allowed him to reap financial reward. He declared that no political activities should take place in his ward other than the activities of the APC. He said this loudly and nobody, none of his associates across the State, guided him. He was tormenting the opposition, so it was ok. So when Hon. Mark Obi went home as a member of PDP to meet his Party supporters, General Iron, in sheer display of audacity, went to Mark Obi’s house and warned him to desist from holding any PDP activities in the ward. Mark Obi stood his ground on that occasion and Iron left. Mark Obi dutifully reported the matter to the Commissioner of Police in a detailed petition. Nothing happened. General Iron was a high Government official. Eventually, misled by the endorsement of his actions and by the lack of admonition from the Government he served, egged on by political associates and fellow political leaders in Boki, he attempted to make good his promise of killing Mark Obi for planning to hold PDP activities in the Oku ward. Mark Obi miraculously survived the attack with grievous injuries. This was the height of it. Iron had outdone himself. The Governmentment he thought he was working for sacked him; dropped him from cabinet with ignominy. His fellow political leaders in Boki disassociated from him. Everyone dodged. He stood alone. Those who collected money from him, those he shared the proceeds of the Oil palm estate to, dodged. It was then Iron realized he was alone, exposed, abandoned. Nobody had guided this small time criminal as to the acceptable standards of behaviour when you are vested with a high office. He was promoted beyond his capacity, and applied violence, the only thing he knew well, as solution to solve all problems, especially political issues. He worked for his party and the political system that accepted him. But in his last moments he stood and died alone in the bush. A scape goat. My dear Boki youths, learn from what happened to General Iron. Don’t let them use you. Understand that when they send you to commit crime and you are in trouble, they will dodge. Even if you have served them and given them millions, they will dodge. Even if they appointed you PA, SA or anything, they will dodge. So look after yourself. Check your wings before you fly because you will have to carry yourself. Anything you know you cannot defend if you stand alone, don’t allow your group or political party to send you to do. The fact that your actions are endorsed by your master today does not mean you will not account for them tomorrow. Ask yourself; will your political master send his child to do what he has sent you to do? Let this guide you. Anyone that does not find you useful in politics if you keep to descent behaviour is not your leader. Don’t be used and dumped. Don’t allow them push you and dodge like they did to Iron. At the end, General Iron deserve his end. He died the way he should. The biggest loss will be if we do not learn the lessons from his death. This is my contribution to those lessons. May Boki now know peace after the death of Thomas Obi Tawo, and may his kind never pass this way again. joinpreneur:Psalm Baba Is Jehovah, Jesus and FAITH for Nigerian christians alone as a special breed? or for all christians all over the world? And what about the high death rate of 85 so far when Ghana has equal number of confirmed cases but far less deaths of 18 or and other countries with better or worse cases, does it then mean their Pastors and Christians pray more or less than Nigeria ones, or Jesus loves them more or less than Nigerians or they have a better or worse health sector or population density? does it mean the pastors, pastors wives, and christians that have died all over the world had no faith or did not pray hard enough or jesus loved them less? Nigerian religious leaders who have no explanation for the emergence of COVID19 nor any explanation why God hid it from all of them and prophesied something different each for the new year, are now resorting to smart talk trying to take advantage of COVID19 as part of the RELIGIOSITY that is not profitable to God and has failed man kind. We beleivers have always looked unto jesus, but the prophets of the bible were not powerless or bandoned by God. I am a beleiver, i am a member of a church, but the religious clergy must do some souls searching and check that they have not gone away from the TRUE FAITH but practise RELIGIOISTY, year ending now, they will begin to see vison of plague and claim God is now revealing it. |
Sports / The Amount Professional Footballers, Pay For Receiving Yellow Or Red Cards by smemud(m): 12:23pm On Feb 11, 2020 |
Yellow and red cards are used as a means to discipline players for misconduct during the game.A yellow card is used to caution players, while a red card results in the player’s dismissal from the field of play. Thus, yellow cards are used to punish milder forms of misconduct than red cards. However, if a player receives two yellow cards in one game, he gets an automatic red card. When are they used? A player receives a yellow card for committing any of the following offenses: is guilty of unsporting behaviorshows dissent by word or action persistently infringes the Laws of the Game delays the restart of play fails to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a corner-kick, free-kick, or throw in enters or re-enters the field of play without the referee’s permission deliberately leaves the field of play without the referee’s permission is guilty of serious foul play is guilty of violent conduct spits on an opponent or any other person denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball denies an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or penalty kick uses offensive or insulting or abusive language and/or gestures receives a second yellow card in the same match. They aren’t classified as fines but for every yellow card or red card in football, you usually to pay an admistrative charge to the Football Association that runs the competition for dealing with the paperwork involved. READ ALSO: New GFA President, Kurt Okraku leads 'Jama' session with the Black Star In England for example, a yellow card carries a £10 fine while a red card carries a fine of up to £30. It is to avoid these penalties that players often ask referees to ommit bookings from their match report. The charge is the same whether you are playing in a Sunday league competition run by your local FA or in the Premier League. Some clubs may also give in house fines to their own players for cards but that is up to each individual clubs depending on the kind of policy they want to pursue. This is usually to try and encourage better behaviour as they won’t want players to miss too many matches. During the match: A player who receives a yellow card may continue to play in the match. If a player receives a red card, he is immediately dismissed from the field of play and can play not further part in the match. The player who is dismissed cannot be replaced; his team must play the remainder of the game with one fewer player. POST MATCH:Although rules vary from league to league, yellow cards and red cards are often accompanied by suspensions. Generally, one red card results in an automatic suspension of one to three games. Additionally, receiving many yellow cards throughout the season can also result a suspension, depending on the league / tournament. https://www.celebritiesbuzz.com.gh/the-amount-professional-footballers-pay-for-receiving-yellow-or-red-cards/ |

Politics / Yoruba Defend Your State by smemud(m): 11:12am On Feb 27, 2019 |
I COME AGAIN WITH HOME TRUTH. ATTACK ZARA AS USUAL BUT TRUTH MUST CONTINUE TO BE SAID. I am a full blooded nwa afo Igbo but I believe the Yoruba's need to rise up and defend their identity, land, and culture. It's unfortunate to say this but the truth needs to be said by someone. We the Igbo's can no longer continue to be territorial in another mans land. We go to a place, they welcome us with an open hand, we establish there and prosper and the only way to show appreciation to them is to declare their land a "no man's land" How is this possible? Every land has indigenes. What the Yoruba's are tolerating even we the Igbo's will not tolerate the same in our land. Why is it possible I can move to Lagos or any Yoruba land and willfully acquire any choice land at any part of Yoruba land as long as I have the means yet we cannot accord the same opportunity and privilege to Yoruba's in Igbo land? In my place no matter how much a Yoruba man is willing to buy land, that land will not be sold to him. There is a serious need for equity from all sides. The Yoruba's must be accorded what they accord us. The Yoruba's must demand what is theirs. In Igbo land, Igbo's speak with one voice and foreigners cannot Influence things in our land. If we have Eze Igbo in Yoruba land, why then can't we have Oba of Yoruba in Igbo land? Yoruba's must stand up and defend that which is theirs. The liberality of the Yoruba's must be reciprocated by others. You can easily be a house of assembly member in Yoruba land even as an Igbo man or Akwa Ibom person but can we say the same in Igbo land? You people must rise and defend what is yours. Elections in your land cannot continue to be decided by foreigners. It cannot happen in my place, so why would you Yoruba's allow it? Being too nice is foolishness. Defend what is yours now or forever lose it." BY SARRKI |

Foreign Affairs / Africa Shifts To Putin, Not The Other Way Around by smemud(m): 8:31pm On Jan 27, 2019 |
This afternoon I sat in dazed disbelief at a “news” story from Financial Times proclaiming Vladimir Putin’s “shift” to Africa. With a couple of centuries of imperialist mayhem behind the Anglo-European cohort, any photo op with Vladimir Putin and a desperate leader ends up a headline. Here’s the truth of the matter of Africa. With nowhere else to turn except to face ravaging tigers, Africa’s leaders look to the best alternatives. Authors Henry Foy and Nastassia Astrasheuskaya must have just emerged from imprisonment in the FT basement. This is the only explanation for reporters who are supposed to have an eye out for a real story to concoct one out of nothing. The lead of the story will astound some of you. As protests raged in Zimbabwe’s cities last week, with police firing live ammunition at crowds who barricaded roads with burning tires, the target of their anger was 8,000km away. If the Financial Times and other western mainstream media are locking journalists in cages and feeding them bullshit day and night, then FT forgetting about America’s never-ending imperialism in Africa is easily explained. Barring this, the dynamic duo on this story is about as unbiased as Radio Free Europe . I could list 100 instances where every American administration has undermined governments in Africa. This story about USAID funding rights abusers to lean on Zimbabwe President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa is a good one. However, this story is telling for U.S. strategies to sway elections. And I quote: In Zimbabwe, USAID used this unique and small fund in 2012 to initiate the “Zimbabwe Works” project, so young men were working in the lead up to the 2013 elections. The success of this program, implemented by the International Youth Foundation, led to the British and Swedish aid agencies joining in and served nearly 29,000 young Zimbabweans. Of course, USAID shovelling money and influence down the throats of institutions for the CIA and the U.S. State Department is no secret to me. Nor are U.S. subversive practices hidden from the likes of FT writers. Furthermore, not only is the Trump administration putting the thumbscrews to Zimbabwe by dangling the USAID carrot, that agency is twisting the noose tighter by releasing reports on Zimbabwe’s crumbling economy. Consult News Day , if you doubt my concerns. So the question arises, “Why Zimbabwe now?” On Wednesday 12 December, the United States Foreign Relations Committee of the 115th Congress met for the last time. Chairman of the committee, U.S. Representative Ed Royce (R-CA) convened the meeting entitled “Development, Diplomacy, and Defense: Promoting United States Interests in Africa.” The magic here for me is, Financial Times contributor Jim O’Brien reported on it back in December. I guess he was not one of the writers imprisoned and tortured to create the anti-Russia narrative. The point is, these policies are widely observed, so throwing Russia’s president into the Africa fray is just sensationalism. Of course, Russia has interests on that continent, every country on Earth does. The issue here is that Zimbabwe is in the middle of a geopolitical battleground between the United States, China, and Russia. The larger issue is, “Who is the instigator?” Let’s face it, a couple of decades ago Russia or China could not have given a hoot about Zimbabwe. Back in the 1990s Harvard fellow, Michael Roemer wrote a report comparing Asia and Africa economics and suggesting Africa follow China’s pattern. When the American leadership wanted globalization to affect the elite profits, China was a beacon of hope for third world countries Donald Trump affectionately calls “shit holes.” Let’s remember, that Hillary Clinton was a co-sponsor of the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act of 2001. I’ve no desire to dredge up the nightmarish Anglo-European colonialism that still rages in Africa today. What should be of interest to the reader is the strategy of blaming Vladimir Putin every time a desperate leader lands on the Kremlin doorstep after having been shunned by the United States. American leadership and the corporate elites cause a problem, bleed a people to death, change regimes like a game of musical chairs, and then point the finger at Russia or China for not playing ball. FT author Foy says France is “unnerved” to discover Russia is sending security advisors to Zimbabwe. The author also exclaims analysts from Chatham House were aghast that they had not noticed “significant clusters of armed Russians” in the country. Oh my, next they will learn the Wicked Witch of the West was not killed by Dorothy. Maybe this quote from a recent NPR story will “wake” Chatham House up some more: When U.S. troops were ambushed in Niger last October, the widespread reaction was surprise: The U.S. has military forces in Niger? What are they doing there? The title of that story by Greg Myer was “The Military Doesn’t Advertise It, But U.S. Troops Are All Over Africa.” So, now you can see the real reason FT blames Putin for anything that goes wrong in Africa. Zimbabwe’s leader did not do a photo op with Donald Trump at the White House. And Mr. Putin should learn his place, and stop trying to horn in on America’s Africa Command, AFRICOM, which was set in place back in 2007 to “deal with emerging extremist threats.” I look forward to Financial Times’ next crybaby routine against Vladimir Putin.https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-01-26/africa-shifts-putin-not-other-way-around 4 Likes 3 Shares |
