JUSTICE Oyebola Adepele-Ojo on Monday, October 7, 2022 said she heard from the grapevine that someone told someone that she was desperate to jail someone.

She added that the grapevine also had it that she has taken bribe in the case of the alleged murder of Timothy Oludare Adegike at the Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife, Osun State in November 2021.

Adepele-Ojo said she was never desperate to jail anyone but was desperate to conclude the case with utmost despatch.

She added that she has never taken any bribe and will never take any. She said was contented with what she has and that she prefers to borrow if she is in need of money.

"If there is anyone who collected any money on my behalf, the person should please return it."

MEANWHILE, the first defendant in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke  an MBA-EXECUTIVE student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Dr. Rahman Adedoyin was present in court today with six others standing trial in the case.

Adedoyin was absent in Court in the previous two court proceedings before today.

The Judge is on the ruling for an amendment charge.

The APC Presidential Candidate in the forthcoming 2023 Presidential Election, ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU, did not attend the Presidential Debate organised by ARISE TV on Sunday, November 6, 2022, for the following reasons:

Firstly, many radio and TV networks in Nigeria have indicated interests to host such debates and out of deference to other TV and radio stations, our candidate will not be making selective appearances in some networks, whilst ignoring others. As President of Nigeria, by the Special Grace of God, he intends to treat all persons and businesses fairly and equally.

Secondly, the busy and hectic campaign schedules of Asiwaju Tinubu will not permit him to honour all such invitations by different radio and TV networks, hence our decision for him not to start with one TV station and later ignore others.

Thirdly, our candidate had long before now realised the importance of speaking directly to Nigerians and shortly after unfolding his Action Plan as President embarked on Town Hall meetings beginning with his interaction with the Business Community and other stakeholders in Kano followed by the Town Hall meeting and presentation by experts last week in Lagos. Tomorrow, he will be interacting with Agro and Commodity Groups in Minna, Niger State.

Whilst we thank Arise TV for the invitation, we want to assure Nigerians that we shall continue to hold these debate groups and Nigerians in high esteem. Nigerians will hear from our candidate loud and clear through other forums.

Lastly, out of profound respect for Nigerians, we urge all our party structures and supporters at the grassroots to continue to organise town hall meetings to educate Nigerians on the Action Plan of our candidate as we believe a grassroots-approach to reach Nigerians will also be more profound.

Drama unfolded at Makutano Police Station in Embu County, Kenya after two men surrendered a cow they had reportedly stolen.

The two suspects, covered by a swarm of bees, walked into the police station on Saturday, November 5, 2022, and reported themselves as thieves.

The suspects, who have since been identified as Phillip Wekesa, 32, and Mwamba Ili, 25, could not stop screaming in pain as the bees were stinging them.

Police immediately contacted Lilian Waithera, who had on November 3 made a report at the station that her cow was missing.

After arriving at the station, Waithera positively identified the cow as hers. She confessed to having sought a witchdoctor's services to help her find the cow.

"I am told that the suspects had tried to sell the cow at the Makutano market, but did not find a buyer. That was before the bees shepherded them to the station where they surrendered the cow," she said.

In a bizarre incident, the witch doctor was reportedly asked to reverse the spell he cast on the 'thieves', and commanded the insects into a bag he was carrying.

After performing his 'magic', the sorcerer casually walked out of the police station leaving residents aghast.

Livestock theft has been on the rise in Kirinyaga, with the the area Assistant Chief Mr. Daniel Kiama Maina urging residents not to resort to witchcraft to solve the menace.

The matter is currently being investigated.

A young suspected Yahoo boy got more than what he bargained for at a Herbalist Shrine where he planned to use his father and his close friend identified as Godwin for money rituals.

The Herbalist was playing along with him when he said he wanted to use his father for money ritual, unfortunately his father's head rejected bewitchment, he opted to use his friend, Godwin instead.

It was at the point of stabbing Godwin who was expected to appear from the mirror after the count of four that the Herbalist held his hand to remove the knife.

The Osun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has admitted in evidence, the Certified True Copies, CTC, of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, reports.

The report shows alleged over-voting in favour of Ademola Adeleke, during the July 16 governorship election in the state. 

Recalls that Governor Oyetola and APC had on August 5, 2022 submitted a petition before the tribunal in Osogbo, challenging the election results from 749 polling units across 10 local government areas of the state for various alleged electoral malpractice, especially over-voting. 

At the resumed hearing of the tribunal in Osogbo, Counsel to Oyetola, Dr Saka Layoonu, SAN, while formally tendering the documents, informed the tribunal that the evidence had been jointly cross-checked by both parties, the secretariat of the tribunal and confirmed to be accurate.

Counsel to INEC, Jamiu Olabode, however, objected to the admissibility of the documents but said that he would state his reasons in the final written address.

Similarly, Counsel to Adeleke, Niyi Owolade and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Nathaniel Oke, also objected the admissibility of the documents tendered by the petitioners.

They, however, said they would state the reasons in their final written addresses.

Mr Oke also called the attention of the tribunal to what he described as imbalance reportage of the proceedings from court by some media houses.

“My Lords, we are not comfortable with the reports of proceedings by pressmen in this court,” he said.

In his ruling, the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Tertsea Kume, admitted in evidence all the documents tendered by the petitioners and marked them as exhibits.

Mr Kume adjourned continuation of the hearing until November 16, 2022.

On the issues of imbalance reportage raised by the PDP Counsel, Mr Kume asked for evidence to that effect.

THE Presidential Campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will kick off in Jos, Plateau State on November 15, 2022 according to a release by the APC Presidential  Campaign Committee.

The Official Twitter Page monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE, the campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga who is the Director of the council said,

"The city of Jos, capital of Plateau state will host the flag-off rally of the APC Presidential campaign, according to a programme released by the campaign council.
The rally will take off from 15 November, 2022."

"Plateau is the home state of Governor Simon Lalong, the DG of APC Presidential Campaign Council.

According to the programme, the campaign was kicked off on Tuesday 1 November, with the Town Hall meeting in Lagos between Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu and business leaders in Lagos."

"More of such town hall meetings will take place before the mega rally in Kano on 11 February, 2023.

The Kano rally will draw the curtains on the campaign, as the party shifts into election planning mode."

"Other highlights of the campaign are rallies in Imo on Monday 21 Nov, Kwara 22 Nov, Adamawa 24 Nov, Ogun 26 Nov, Enugu 26 Nov&Sokoto on 30 November.

In between the rallies are scheduled five town hall meetings, one of which will be with Interfaith groups in Abuja on 9 November."

Afenifere is in the news again for its own sake. What has triggered the latest soul-searching for the pan-Yoruba political and cultural organisation was the public visit of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to the Akure, Ondo State, country home of Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of Afenifere.

This visit has not gone down well with Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the acting leader of Afenifere, who had publicly endorsed Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and now the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), a party that is an apparent offshoot of the giant Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Tinubu’s pilgrimage to Akure has been in the work for many weeks by those who believe that Adebanjo has taken the organisation he is leading in acting capacity for granted. The visit, however, throws light on the old schism within the organisation, which time has not healed. Now two lions in the winter of their lives are finding themselves in opposite directions of this old divides.

Both Fasoranti and Adebanjo are old apostles of the Awoist School. The issues that divide them predates the quest for presidency of Chief Tinubu, an old member of Afenifere.
When Fasoranti picked Adebanjo as the acting Chairman of Afenifere, last year, he was following tradition. In his declining years, Chief Adekunle Ajasin, the first leader of Afenifere, after the 1993 general elections, picked Senator Abraham Adesanya, to act on his behalf. Though he was acting for Ajasin, Adesanya was still presiding over the Afenifere meeting at the country home of Ajasin in Owo, Ondo State.

After Ajasin’s death in 1997, Afenifere met at the Owo home of Ajasin to elect a successor. It was at that meeting that Chief Bola Ige, then the Chairman of the Contact Committee of Afenifere, proposed that Adesanya should be elected as the leader. His motion was approved by acclamation. Ige was then elected as the deputy-leader.

Adesanya’s tenure as leader was productive and effective. It was under him that Afenifere produced all the governors of the Southwest states on the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD). It was in his closing years that Afenifere also fell into crisis, especially after the unresolved assassination in 2001 of Chief Bola Ige, Adesanya’s deputy and the Attorney-General of the Federation. In the 2003 general elections, all Afenifere and AD governors were defeated in the governorship election except Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos.

The issue became more complicated after the passage of Adesanya in 2008. That was when the rain started beating Afenifere.

By the time Adesanya died, Afenifere was a weakened behemoth. Struck by illness, he appointed Fasoranti as the acting leader. When Adesanya died, Fasoranti was confirmed as the leader by the conclave. He was quickly challenged by another faction led by Senator Ayo Fasanmi. All attempts to reconcile the two factions failed. The death of Fasanmi in 2020 provided an opportunity for a new beginning.

The Fasanmi group did not appoint a new leader and some of its members moved over to the Fasoranti group. In matter of months, Fasoranti became the undisputed leader of Afenifere.

But the Afenifere that Fasoranti inherited was substantially different from the one that Adesanya led in the final days of military rule after which the movement produced five elected governors. Now the movement had no governors under its tent. It attempted to play national politics put it into trouble. The movement was now in dissipation and its public standing was being challenged on many fronts.

It was at this period that Fasoranti suffered a personal tragedy when his daughter, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, was killed in 2019 by kidnappers in an attempt to seize her on the Shagamu-Ore Express Road. It was later revealed these killers were Fulani marauders who have found home in the Yoruba forests. It was at this period of challenge that Fasoranti appointed Adebanjo as acting leader.

Adebanjo took his assignment seriously. He jumped onto the national stage with his characteristic ebullience. He was not afraid of debates. He cherishes the smell of the battlefield. He is a feisty fighter whose combustible temperament was suited for the old struggle against military rule. But now, politics is the game. He accumulated new friends and seems eager to make new foes. He did not refer nor defer to the man who made him the acting leader.

On Sunday October 30, 2022, Fasoranti received Tinubu royally at his Akure home to prove that in Yorubaland, a king is not buried alive. Despite his public show of defiance, the Akure show may have put an end to the regime of Adebanjo as acting leader. There is no doubt that Adebanjo had been able to attract many people of competence and national standing to his brand of leadership, including the illustrious Oba Oladipo Olaitan, the Deputy Leader of Afenifere and several combative and not so young men and women. But what is the basis of his legitimacy when the man who made him acting leader says he is returning to take back the rein of leadership?

Fasoranti may have been encouraged to end his retirement for some reasons. Many leaders of Afenifere were unhappy that Adebanjo shifted the general meeting from Akure to his country home in Ogbo-Ijebu, Ogun State when the leader is still alive. Immediately Fasoranti, a meticulous former school principal, wrote to appoint Adebanjo as acting leader, Adebanjo took it as a notice of Fasoranti’s final retirement.

Now Fasoranti is back. As the leader of Afenifere, Fasoranti is actually wearing two caps. At the Yoruba Summit at the Premier Hotel, Ibadan in 1995, part of the communiqué of that meeting read to us by Chief Bola Ige states: “The Leader of Afenifere shall also be the Leader of the Yoruba.”

This proposal was accepted by acclamation. Leaders across the political spectrum and social standing including the likes of Chief Richard Osuolale Akinjide, Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi, General Alani Akinrinade, Dr Amos Akingba and Aare Arisekola Alao, were there.

The meeting was presided over by Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin, the leader of Afenifere. Since that meeting, every leader of Afenifere has been regarded as the Leader of the Yoruba. It was the Ibadan Summit that also declared Afenifere as the mainstream political and cultural organisation of the Yoruba people.

It is clear now that Adebanjo did not make enough consultations before he threw his lot with Peter Obi of the LP. Fasoranti said he too was not consulted on the matter. Up till now, Obi has not made any presentation before the general house of Afenifere. Adebanjo has also not revealed what agreement he reached with Obi for the benefit of Yorubaland.

The high-profile attendance in Akure on Sunday showed many people are happy to see Fasoranti back from retirement. All the Yoruba states, including Kogi and Kwara, were represented. Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, was present and the deputy governors of Ondo, Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and Oyo, Bayo Lawal, represented their governors. Dr Charles Akinola, the Chief of Staff, represented the Governor of Osun State. Segun Adesegun, former deputy Governor of Ogun State, represented Chief Olusegun Osoba, the former Governor and old Afenifere chieftain.

The naira’s downward spiral has reached another historical low under the President Muhammadu Buhari regime, currently trading at 800 against the dollar at the parallel exchange market. 

SOJ WORLDWIDE checks on Saturday 29th October, 2022 revealed that the current parallel market rate is N800 to a dollar and N890 to British pound sterling.

It was reported on Friday 28th October, 2022  that the naira which had been consistently dropping in value exchanged at 785 against the dollar.

The free fall continues as the ban on Bureau the Change operators remain in place and the Buhari regime announced plans to redesign the country’s currency in response to the country’s economic woes.

The governor of the Central bank, Godwin Emefiele, announced on Wednesday that new naira notes would be issued by December 15 2022.

Mr Emefiele stated that the move, which has since been approved by Buhari and other stakeholders, was certain to boost the value of the naira.

Following the latest announcement, politicians have continued to approach BDC operators to easily convert their soon-to-expire stockpiled naira to foreign currencies, as the apex bank gave all Nigerians six weeks to return all old naira notes to the bank’s vault.

In 2021, the CBN prohibited the sale of foreign exchange to BDC operators in a bid to arrest the fast fall of the country’s currency. The apex bank had accused the BDCs of unauthorised sales of foreign exchange above the market they were authorised to serve.

BDC operators were a significant part of the black market before the ban, helping people who couldn’t legally access foreign currencies directly from the CBN to maintain their exchange rates.

A suspected kidnapper identified as Sunday Oja was arrested by the Oyo State Amotekun Corps.

The kidnapper was one of the kidnappers who kidnapped one Arogundade Sunday at Temidire Community near Eleekara Market, few Kilometers from Oyo in Oyo State on Saturday night, according to the victim.

The suspect who said he hailed from Benue State was crying like a baby when he was being interrogated by the Amotekun Operative.

He said they started monitoring their victims from Lagos.  He confessed that he has been in the nefaruous business for years.

According to a source who wrote in a message available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, he said,
"This man, AROGUNDADE SUNDAY, was kidnapped on Saturday night on the Express road, near Temidire Community near Eleekara Market. The Amotekun Corps Oyo Zone and Akinyele Unit led by the Oyo Zonal Coordinator freed him yesterday after a fierce gun battle with the kidñappers. The Hunters Council collaborated with the Amotekun Corps Oyo very well."

A 36-year-old man identified as Mayowa Dele has been charged by the State's Security operatives with the murder of his girlfriend and also harvesting some of her private organs on fire.

Shockingly, when he was caught and taken into custody, the suspect, as stated by security personnel, was at the verge of using the removed body parts of the deceased to prepare a concoction.

As stated by the Prosecuting Attorney for the Police Department, Thomas Nurudeen, some of the deceased's harvested organs were discovered inside the pot which the accused set on fire.

However, ASP Thomas, an Assistant Superintendent of Police,disclosed that the incident took place on Ijedodo Road in the Ijegun neighbourhood of Lagos,the location where the deceased's leftovers were retrieved and her name was recalled to be Mercy.

“My Lord, three suspects; Oluwakemi Azeez (20), Oyedegun Adewale (27) and Jejelaye Osusola (22) were also arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of Mercy".

“Apart from putting some of the body parts in the pot to cook, he also put some inside a cement bag and kept it in his room while the remaining parts were wrapped up in bed sheets and buried in an uncompleted building in the area",the prosecutor stated.

Although,the suspect's major intents behind the evil act is yet to be ascertained by the security operatives.But they raced to the suspect's location to apprehend and uncover what he was up to,after a distress call was sent to the police via his neighbours accompanied with the discreet findings of the police.

Furthermore,the Assistant Superintendent noted that the above-mentioned intelligence strategy undertaken by the police made it possible to get hold of the culprit,who has been interrogated to know why he went on such a dehumanizing deed.

During the course of interrogation,the prosecutor went on to say that the prime culprit revealed some of his accomplices,who were also apprehended and taken into custody for interrogation.

Meanwhile, when they were brought before the judge for their prosecution,the defendant pleaded guilty to the allegations leveled against them but the magistrate was advised by ASP Thomas to handover the case to the Department of Public Prosecution for their own opinion on the case.

Conclusively, the magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, issued a directive for the suspects to be taken back to prison for the time being while awaiting the decision made by the Department of Public Prosecutions.

An unspecified number of motorists were allegedly kidnapped along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Friday, October 28, 2022.

The development generated tension along the expressway as several vehicles aborted the trips to their destination and drove in the opposite direction.

The incident happened around Dominion University City of Faith, KM 24, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

An eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent said nobody could ascertain the number of people kidnapped but three private vehicles were affected.

He listed the affected as a Jeep, a Toyota Camry Car and Sedan vehicle whose model could not be ascertained.

The eyewitness who was travelling from Lagos to Ibadan said there was fear among motorists and passengers around the spot.

He said, “I can confirm some motorists have just been kidnapped near Dominion University, Ibadan. Many vehicles had to turn back but the road is free as I am talking to you.

“I saw three vehicles with their doors wide open and not a single person was found inside the three vehicles and there is no trace of where they ran to.

“One of the cars smashed it bonnet on the wall while the one behind jammed it from behind but there no sign of accident. We are sure it was a case of kidnap because the vehicles were empty.

“At first, we taught it was robbery but if it was not. We should have seen those that were robbed. There was nobody at the scene when my vehicle got there.”

The witness said when they moved away from the scene, they saw some hunters and vigilantes heading towards the place the incident happened.

When contacted, the Amotekun Commandant in the state, Coln Olayinka Olayanju said he has no information about the latest kidnapping in the state.

He said, “I am not aware of such development. There is no way such a thing would happen and we won’t be informed. Such thing is strange to me. I will find out and get back to you.”
The police are yet to react to the development.

AN elderly man was in the news few days ago, he was at the Idumota end of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos planning to commit suicide by jumping into the Lagoon.

Many sympathizers were prevailing on the man not to jump but he insisted, he was behind the barrier leading to the Lagoon where no one could have saved him   

He eventually jumped into the Lagoon where no could trace his whereabouts till the time of filing this report.

PRESS REMARKS BY GOVERNOR GODWIN EMEFIELE ON ISSUANCE OF NEW NAIRA BANKNOTES

"Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, and welcome to this special press briefing of the Bank. We have called this gathering to inform relevant stakeholders and the general public of persisting concerns we are facing with the management of our current series of banknotes, and currency in circulation, particularly those outside the banking system in Nigeria.

As you all may be aware, currency management is a key function of the Central Bank of Nigeria, as enshrined in Section 2 (b) of the CBN Act 2007.

Indeed, the integrity
of a local legal tender, the efficiency of its supply, as well as its efficacy in the conduct of monetary policy are some of the hallmarks of a great Central Bank.

In recent times, however, currency management has faced several daunting challenges that have continued to 
grow in scale and sophistication with attendant and unintended consequences for the integrity of both the CBN and the country.
These challenges primarily include:

▪ Significant hoarding of banknotes by members of the public, with statistics showing that over 80 percent of currency in circulation are outside the vaults of commercial banks;

▪ Worsening shortage of clean and fit
banknotes with attendant negative perception of the CBN and increased risk to financial stability;

▪ Increasing ease and risk of counterfeiting
evidenced by several security reports.

Indeed, recent development in photographic
technology and advancements in printing devices have made counterfeiting relatively easier. In recent years, the CBN has recorded significantly higher rates of counterfeiting
especially at the higher denominations of
N500 and N1,000 banknotes.

Although global best practice is for Central Banks to redesign, produce and circulate new local legal tender every 5–8 years, the Naira has not been redesigned in the last 20 years.

On the basis of these trends, problems, and facts, and in line with Sections 19, Subsections a and b of the CBN Act 2007, the Management of the CBN sought and obtained the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to redesign, produce, and circulate new series of banknotes at N100, N200, N500, and N1,000 levels.

In line with this approval, we have finalized
arrangements for the new currency to begin circulation from December 15, 2022.

The new and existing currencies shall remain legal tender and circulate together until January 31, 2023 when the existing currencies shall seize to be legal tender.

Accordingly, all Deposit Money Banks currently
holding the existing denominations of the currency may begin returning these notes back to the CBN effective
immediately.

The newly designed currency will be released to the banks in the order of
First-come-First￾serve basis. Customers of banks are enjoined to begin paying into
their bank accounts the existing currency to enable them withdraw the new banknotes once circulation begins in mid-December 2022.

All banks are therefore expected to keep open, their currency processing centers from Monday to Saturday so as to accommodate all cash that will be returned to their customers.

For the purpose of this transition from existing to new notes, bank charges for cash deposits are hereby suspended with immediate effect.

Therefore, DMBs are to note that no bank customer shall bear any charges for cash returned/paid into their accounts.

Members of the public are to please note that the present notes remain legal tender and should not be rejected as a means of exchange for purchase of goods
and services.

We would like to use this opportunity to reassure the general public that the CBN would continue to monitor both the financial system in particular, and the economy in general, and always act in good faith for the achievement
of the Bank’s objectives and the betterment of the country.

A medical student of Ambrose Alli university identified simply as Celestina has been killed by gunmen on her way home after her induction.

Reports making the rounds revealed that her death came just 13 days after she was inducted into the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria. 

It was learnt that the deceased was on her way to Abuja when she was shot dead by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

Before her death, Celestina was once a two-time Vice President of an organization Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) Nigeria.

News of her death has left many a Nigerian in a deep state of sorrow as they commiserate with the family and friends of the deceased.

POLITICAL thuggery reared its ugly head in Lagos on Sunday night when some gunmen ambushed the convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate in Lagos, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran-aka JANDOR.

According to the statement issued by Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary
Chairman, Media and Publicity Team for Jandor/Funke 2023 Campaign Council, Hon. Hakeem Amode available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, it was alleged that APC thugs masterminded the attacks.
The vehicles in the campaign train were badly damaged.

The statement reads,
"Jandor escapes death, as Campaign Train Attacked by APC Sponsored Thugs outward Badagry…three people including a journalist sustained injuries.

The Campaign train of the Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party - PDP was attacked today while returning from visitation to members of the party at the Ikoga Junction area of Badagry Local Government by APC sponsored thugs this evening.

The attack led to injuries of several members of Jandor’s entourage and press men. as at the time of this press statement, one of the news reporter is in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital while those injured are been treated.

The thugs that attack the campaign train were shouting APC while shooting guns and using dangerous weapons.

You will recall that our party raised concern over the threat to use APC sponsored thugs to attack the campaign programs of our Gubernatorial candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran-JANDOR recently and we would like to state categorically that this will not deter the determination of our candidate to campaign for the next election and win the election come March 29, 2023.

We would like to call on the Commissioner of Police of Lagos state and the Area Commander of Police in the Badagry division to do everything possible to fish out those behind the attack and neccesary disciplinary actions taken against them to forestall such occurrences in the future and to instill confidence in our members that they will be protected during this campaign period.

A video went viral about six weeks ago showing a man celebrating his departure from Nigeria to Canada.

The young man was heard in the video immediately he arrived Canada that, 
"Thank God for me, I have escaped from Buhari, I have escaped from Nigeria, I have finally arrived, thank God."

BUT few days after his arrival, he was arrested by Canadian authority for killing a Parrot that has a GPS Tracker attached to it.   

According to the information SOJ WORLDWIDE gathered, the young man whose identity was not known was arrested and subsequently deported back to Nigeria, a country he has chastised along with its President.

This incident occured in September 2022, we waited this long to get more facts from the victim but as at the time of filing this report we are unable to get the whereabouts of the man.

A Twitter user, @Dr Olusesan, who shared the story on the micro-blogging platform, claimed the man inadvertently killed the parrot, and since the bird had a GPS tracker, it was easy to track him.

“Them deport person from Canada within one month on arrival because e go kill pet parrot wey wear GPS tracker. Like, are you blind?” Olusesam tweeted.

According to Aluko, a Nigerian man was also deported from Qatar in 2012 after being found guilty of killing a cat.

“The same thing happened here in Qatar around 2012, One of our country man will just went out at midnight to kill cats to make soup. He has been doing it so long before police get him one night. He was deported too.The funny thing is he was doing good job of around $3k at the time.”

This video whose anchor warned everyone not to reveal their achievements, no matter how. She was speaking in Yoruba language that, "Bi isu eni ba ta a fowo boo ni." (Manage your success with wisdom and protect it jealously).

1. Ooni of Ife – Ogboru
Ogboru is 19th century Ooni of Ife dethroned mischievously by Ife Palace Chiefs who got tired of his 70yrs long reign. Mohammed was deposed on 16th of February, 1902 by Lord luggard’s second in command – William Wallace for an allegation of slave dealings and insubordination against the British government and misrule of his people. His son was installed as the new Emir.

3. Emir of Kano Aliyu Ibn Abdullahi Maje Karofi
He became the Emir of Kano in 1894 following the death of Emir Muhammad Bello, and a rebellion war of “Bassa” called the 3rd Kano Civil War was kickstarted by him, along with his elder brother, Yusuf when the Sultan of Sokoko announced another prince called Tukur as the new Emir of Kano. The war lasted for a year when Aliyu popularly called the Sango of zaki (the gun runner) or Ali Balads, for his heavy use of explosives in most wars conquered Kano and became the Emir in 1894. He was dethroned in 1903 following an homage visit to the Sultan in Sokoto when the British -French forces attacked Kano and brought an end to his reign. He first exiled to Yola and later Lokoja, the seat of new Northern Nigerian government where he died in 1926.

4. Emir of Ningi – Dan yaya
Dan yaya was deposed by British Temple months after Umar Emir of Bauchi was sent away in July 1902, for terrorizing his people leading to the killing of a mallam, and taking sides with Emir of Bauchi. A new Sarkin Ningi was enthroned who was the heir, by the name Mammadu. Dan yaya escaped to bura town where he was eventually killed by the Bura people for his continued terrorizing acts in 1905. 5. Olu of Warri – Erejuwa I
Erejuwa was the traditional ruler of Itsekiri at two different times between 1951-1964 and 1966 – 1989. A Senior Officer with UAC before becoming a king, was unfortunately removed and deposed by NCNC eastern party in 1964, because of his support for Awolowo’s Action group, which is the party of many Prominent Itsekiris. The result of the political rivalry lead to the creation of Midwestern States then. Erejuwa was exiled to a town called Ogbesse, after he was returned by a military government of David Ejoor in 1966 and he reigned till 1989.

6. Alaafin of Oyo – Oba Adediran Adeyemi II
84yrs old Oba Adediran Adeyemi II (the father of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi) was dethroned for political rivalry with Chief Awolowo lead Western government of Nigeria when he gave his political will and support for an opposition party called NCNC lead by Chief Nnamdi Azikwe which was heightened by a disagreement and conflict with the then Awolowo Action group leader, Bode Thomas. Oba Adediran was sent away from Oyo town in July 1955 and was exiled in Lagos where he was housed by Alhaji N.B Soule a wealthy NCNC member , after which Gbadegesin Ladigbolu was enthroned as the new Alaafin of Oyo till 1970.

7. Timi of Ede – Abibu Lagunju
Timi Abibu Languju was acclaimed to be the first muslim Yoruba king in history who reigned between 1855 to 1892 and was deposed and exiled by the British government to Ibadan where he lived with Sunmonu Apampa, the Asipa of Ibadan at that time and he died in 1900. One of his children Raji Lagunju, birthed by an Ile-Ife wife was taken back to her home town, to become the second Chief Imam of Ile-Ife. Read more about the accounts of Timi Lagunju here.

8. Awujale of Ijebu-Ode Oba Adenuga 1892 -1925
Awujale Adenuga Folagbade was made an Awujale of Ijebu Ode on November, 1925. He was 33yrs and was living with his mother in Igbeba, a small village near Ijebu Ode. He was the choice of the “Odi”, (Ijebu kingmakers) for the Tunwase ruling house but his choice didn’t go down well with some local chiefs who felt he was too young and prematurely for the exalted stool. He was eventually deposed in 1929 and exiled to Ilorin, for corruption around forestry fees and influencing the choice of the selection of Oba Onipe of IBU. Oba Ogunnaike succeeded him who also died in 1933.

9. Akarigbo of Remo – Oyebajo
Oba Oyebajo was the traditional head of Ijebu remo, in his mid twenties and reigned between 1811 to 1915. He was deposed by the British for being a de-facto ruler who refused to regard his principal chiefs (Bademowo – The Lisa of Remo & Awofala, the Losi of and denied them their shared parts of the duly entitled stipends to them, as part of 1914 amalgamation rule that local rulers should be part of native courts. Akarigbo Chief levied many allegations of corruption against him and the British Officer in charge of the Administrative district, H.F Ducoumbe not only deposed him but also sentenced him and two others in prison with hard labour at Ijebu Ode and was released 6months later, after which he later settled in Sagamu.
Alase of Remo, High Chief Awolesi was made the new Akarigbo in a flamboyant coronation ceremony attended by the British Officer, Ducoumbe. Awolesi died shortly on 25th of February 1916 and the British made Oba Oyebayo’s clerk and an educated public writer the new Akarigbo of Remo. With increased disturbances of Oyebajo factions for his reinstatement, he was arrested with another supporter called Ali and banished to Calabar in 1918 where he lived for only just 3months. 10. Osemawe of Ondo – Oba Adekolurejo Jimosun II (Otutubiosun)
The Oba whose reign was from 1918 to 1925 was removed and banished to Ile-Ife in 1925, where he lived and died. It was during the reign of Oba Jimosun that Ondo town had its first secondary school, called Ondo boys high school.
11. Osemawe of Ondo – Oba Adenuga Fidipote II
Oba Adenuga was reported to be a wealthy king of Ondo town and was on record to be the one who built the first modern Palace for ondo town. He reigned for 7yrs after which his deposed and chased him away from the town to Ibadan in 1942.

12. Oba of Lagos – Ibikunle Akintoye & Kosoko
Akintoye reigned twice as Oba of Lagos, first between 1841 to 1845, when he was deposed to Badagry town for his Anti-Slave trade advocacy. He was succeeded by Oba Kosoko who was equally deposed for having a rift with the British government when he resisted submitting Lagos colony to the British and ordered, the British government to meet the Oba of Benin. In retaliation for his gut, the British government brought back Ibikunle Akintoye who had been on exile in Egba and Badagry in 1851. He reigned for the second time till September, 1853 when he died and Oba Dosumu took over. The deposed was later recalled back to Lagos, where he was made an high chief Oloja of Eleko, a salaried title in Oshodi tapa Epetedo. Where he lived and died in 1872.

13. Emir of Gwandu – Mustapha Jokolo
The Ex -Emir was deposed in 2005, by the Kebbi State government following different allegations levied against him by his Chiefs and was exiled to Kaduna. He was immediately replaced by June 2005 by one Muhammadu Illyasu Bashar, a retired major, who served as a military governor in the old Gongola State between 1976 & 1978. 15yrs, deposed Jokolo is still challenging his dethronement in Court.

14. Emir of Kano – SIR Mohammodu Sanusi I
Reported to be a powerful Emir of Influence in the colonial days of Northern Nigeria, Sanusi I was the Emir of Kano between 1954 to April 1963, when he was deposed by Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, a distant cousin, after an allegation of financial misappropriation in the emirate. He was deposed to Azare in 1964 and died in Wudil in years after. Sanusi I is the grandfather of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the recently deposed by Emir of Kano who reigned from 2014 to 2020, in a similar instance as his grandfather.

15. Olofa of Offa – Oba Wuraola Isioye
Oba Isioye was enthroned on the 5th January 1957, and reigned as Offa District head for 2yrs, when he was deposed by Northern Regional Government following, a successful move for Offa Local Court to be recognised and the long used Ilorin’s Alkali Court was abolished. This promoted the Late Saurduna to instigate him being deposed and exiled to Ogbomoso- Kogi Area, where he lived till he returned in 1964. He was reinstated as Olofa till he died in 1969, even though his district title wasn’t returned.

16. Sultan of Sokoto – Ibrahim Dasuki
The dethronement of Late Sultan Dasuki is probably the most widely reported case of removal of a king in Nigeria by the military government of Abacha in 1996, as almost everyone in late 20’s in Nigeria are aware of the development. There were even songs recorded by musicians to that effect on the continued change of traditions, that the usually saying that a new king can not be crowned while another is alive “T’oba kan o Ku, Oba kan o je”, as waxed by Yoruba Fuji Singer Abbass Obesere. Ibrahim Dasuki removal was rumoured to be related to issues between him and Abacha, on mismanagement of the late Abacha’s relative’s properties. There were also speculation that it was due to reports of his modernist style of rulership and many preferred Sultan Maccido, who later succeeded him.

17. Olowo of Owo – Oba Olateru Olagbegi II
Unarguably the richest and most influential Olowo of Owo town in Ondo state, Oba Olateru became Olowo in 1941 and reigned till 1966 when he took side with Chief S.L Akintola against Chief Awolowo who was his ally. Of a fact, Awolowo Action Group party was founded right inside Olowo palace and Owo for years experienced political and kingship battle, which came to a climax in 1966 following a cold blooded coup with many properties and lives lost in the course. The people of Owo revolted their King and sent him away on exile where he lived for another 27yrs, and his stool was taken over by Oba Ogunoye. At the demise of Ogunoye, Olateru was reappointed as the new Olowo of Owo in 1993 and spent another 5yrs on the throne till he died in 1998. His eldest son, took over from him in 1999 and reigned for 20yrs.

18. Deji of Akure – Oba Oluwadamilare Adesina Osupa III
The inglorious exit of Oba Oluwadamilare as Paramount king of Akure is another reminder of the importance of carriage and conduct in kingship, as they are seen as leaders and role models. The king was deposed on 10th of June, 2010 following the beating of his estranged wife at her home in Akure, in what the Ondo state government referred to as, a dishonorable, condemnable and disgraceful conduct unexpected of a king which invoked a section of the state chieftaincy law of 1984 as amended. With an immediate action, a new Deji of Akure Adebiyi Adeshida Afunbiowo II was announced on 13th of August 2010.

Other Kings dethroned are;
19. Oba Awujale Sikiru Adetona was deposed in 1981 after suspension by a panel of inquiry set up by the then Ogun state governor, Olabisi Onabanjo after which he was found guilty of the charge. He was luckily reinstated by Col. Diya, following a military coup. Read more on Onigegewura’s blog.

Onojie of Uromi – Anslem Aidenojie was suspended and later dethroned in 2016 by Former Gov. Adams Oshiomole for abusing a woman and total disregard for constituted authority, for failure to apologize within 2weeks he was given. Gov Obaseki however reinstated the former king in 2018.

20. Olupoti of Ipoti Ekiti – Oba Oladele Ayeni
The king Oba Isiah Oladele who was alleged to have been wrongly selected in 1987, was thrown out in 2012 after 25yrs of reign.
Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, sacked by the Supreme court in November 2019 after 21yrs of Reign. He was first dethroned in 2011, after which he filed an appeal but lost the throne 8yrs later.

NASARAWA Police Command on Saturday arrested a lecturer at Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa State, Fred Ayokhai and his daughter, Emmanuela for inhuman treatment meted out to a student of Federal University Lafia (FULAFIA) in Nasarawa State over alleged phone number belonging to Emmanuel's man friend.

The Police Command in Nassarawa state confirmed the arrest of the two suspects in a statement via its Twitter page.

Further reportage on the matter identified the arrested suspects as the lecturer involved and his daughter.

Earlier, a video surfaced on social media showing the FULAFIA lecturer, named Fred Ayokhai, ripping off the singlet of a young lady, identified as Blessing Mathias, with scissors.

The victim, who was sitting in the back of a vehicle, is seen shedding tears and pleading for lenience.

Although details were still sketchy as of when this report was filed, social media discourse said the male figure in the footage lectures in FULAFIA’s Department of History and International Studies.

The lecturer, it is gathered, then led his daughter’s siblings to assault the victim in retaliation over a phone number belonging to the lover of Emmanuela.

It is understood that the victim was driven to the bush where she was stripped and beaten up over the conflict.

In its statement, the Police Command said two of the suspects involved in the said assault have been detained.

It also said the car used for the act has been confiscated for a thorough investigation.

The Police Command said efforts are ongoing to arrest some others who might be connected to the case.

In the Official Twitter Page of the Nasarawa Police Command monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE, the Police said,
"@PoliceNG @BenHundeyin @Sanchezbig17 sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa state, the Command swiftly commenced an investigation into the case.
It is gratifying to state that, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle used in conveying the victim to an undisclosed location where she was assaulted has been recovered.
Effort is ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at-large."

A student of Federal University Lafia in Nasarawa State was beaten to stupor by family members of her colleague identified as Emmanuela for allegedly stealing her boyfriend's number in their hostel.

It all started from the threads of video watched by SOJ WORLDWIDE correspondent on Twitter that Emmanuela discovered that her colleague has her boyfriend's number on her phone and asked her to delete it while the other lady felt reluctant in doing so.

It was at this point that the beatings started from Emmanuela before her brother, father took over with more severe beatings to the extent that the father was seen using scissors to strip the blouse of the lady.

The father was also seen using a big stick to beat the young lady.
Twitter users were enraged by the attitude of the father and family members for taking laws into their hands.

In one of the threads, a call was made to the Human Rights Commission in Lafia for their immediate intervention.
This is to call the attention of the Law Enforcement Agents to wade into this matter as urgent as possible after watching the videos below.
The story was interesting but very sad indeed!
