6,350 for 3 years and 10500 for 5 years. If you choose to patronize touts, your negotiation will determine the price. The first time I got the license, I went through the process and got the temporary license and after 3 months, I got the original. Renewal without capturing is quicker now.

Hmmm. The price listed on the board was taken from the office of the Gm of mvaa. Go through the process. The 33k includes insurance and Roadworthiness Certificate. It is a process that you can do. I got my driver's license by myself and it gave me much assurance on the road. There are two cars attached to a number and it is common in Lagos. Maybe we should get together, those who want to get number plates and we will all follow the procedures together. It is the price that we have to pay to end the fraud in the system. The one that makes me angry the most is the cmr. The cmr is charged at 1000 per vehicle and they will give you a photocopy of the receipt with 9 other vehicles. They collect 10k and issue 1k receipt. On the cmr certificate, it's stated that the cost is 100 naira but on the mvaa price list, it is 1k per vehicle. They also charge 500 naira for customs and 500 for police. I called the customs office and they told me to ask mvaa which account number was the money paid to. If we don't do something now, we will join those who will buy a car and start saving money for number plate.

That's a wrong assumption. Since the process is outlined, it is easy to get it done in two hours. A lot of people will buy a car and start saving money to register the car. Very funny. This proxy registration has made mockery of the process. I saw the insurance policy of a Toyota hiace and the bus was recorded as SUV in the policy. A Ford windstar bus was given mot certificate for 6 months because bus was written on it meanwhile it was a private vehicle. A range rover with black color had brown as the colour on the insurance policy. A 2006 range rover sport was recorded as 2013 model . These are issues that proxy registration has been causing the system and the data collected will be inaccurate and then the chances of vehicle recovery will be very low because the system is muddled up.

I have been wondering how much it would cost for me to have a number plate. I want to guide myself and other people on the way forward. What is the actual cost? The number plate cost 12500, vehicle registration is 5000, vehicle license is 3500 for example, road worthy certificate is 3000, and insurance is 5000. Little taxes added to 2650. Total costs is less than 32k and yet we allow touts to charge more than 45k for the number plate. What is the solution to the problem which is preventing motorists from getting genuine number plate?

Sometimes,big problems start with just little unusual sounds.
When this happens,we usually IGNORE!!!!,thinking it is minor. WRONG!!!.
The best way to go is to have it checked up IMMEDIATELY.
It is also always advisable to roll down while driving in other to listen to your engine.
Gazing at your dashboard every 60 seconds at least is not a bad idea. Issues like overheating,charging problem,transmission problem and oil leakage- problems that can stop and damage your car can be avoided.
Always contact a competent technician to fix your car.

One is 0w40 and the other is 5w30. Both are suitable for diesel and petrol engines. If your car recommends the oil, use it but Toyota forbid it and I believe many automakers forbids it too. This oil is not in the same category with the mobil from the US. This type is made in Egypt and we don't share any similar interests with Egyptian auto industry hence the oil is good for Renault and Peugeot and other cars but I know that no powerful European car has recommended this particular mobil 1 sold locally for their cars ditto the Americans or the Asians. Practically these oils are suitable for nothing.

They were all 2.0 but the power of the engines will make a Toyota look like a welfare case. Fuel should not be an issue if you drive in Lagos. Even a 1.3 car in traffic will still feel the effect as the owner has programmed his mind to lower fuel consumption. Sadly for the 010 above range rovers, they are still battling with low octane fuel and this time it is very low. We are now in the era of euro 6 fuel emission cars and our fuel is still euro 4. Big problem but easily resolved by using the recommended oil 5w20 and 0w20 till 2018 models. Make sure it is castrol edge extended performance. Do not settle for less. And boost your fuel. No need to wait for Dangote because he is not concerned about us and our cars.

Will never forget overheating in my life. That was the first problem I had with my Range Rover which I bought in 2014.

After fixing overheating, engine problem started, changed engine, after that gear problem started. That was what killed the car after one year. Spent a lot of money. Never enjoyed the car.
Sold it after 1 year or so.

My brother I like anything that saves me money.. The reason why I like Mobil 1 oil , especially Extended Performance oil. I don't have to worry about changing oil up and down. With good oil filter that is good for 15k miles interval. I do my oil change every 12k miles .. Keep in mind my cars are constantly running on uber.. Constant stop and go ,braking etc .. These cars on uber are constantly running up and down .. So you need good quality oil to keep your engine running smooth.. Mobil 1 extended performace does the job well.. And it saves me trip from the mechanic.. Am trying to avoid been the mechanic best friend.. It can be an expensive relationship

This oil loss is something else.

Mobil I esp 5w30 and the extended performance sibling are not the same. The esp does not have the same vehicle specs as it is for gasoline and diesel engines while the extended has the sticker of gasoline engine only. You will also notice that the esp is good for Renault, Peugeot and BMW longlife 04 which has the same properties as Oando 5w30. If you have a Toyota, you have no business using esp as Toyota requires gasoline engine oil only with the Starburst sticker on every Toyota since 2000. Funny enough, these locally sold oils are not suitable for 90% of the modern cars in the country except for the cars that requires an engine that uses petrol and diesel. And when you say 5w30 is better than 5w20 in protecting the engine, maybe you are right but Toyota camry muscle does not recommend 5w30 for the engine. It is either you use 5w20 or 0w20. On a range rover, if the car states use 5w20 and you use 5w30 for the 2010 model, you will regret taking the risk as you will make my guys in ladipo to be smiling to the bank. The 0w16 is already being sold in the country and it is a German oil. The Germans even came to my workshop and we discussed about our problem with the oil sector. They have the best 5w20 and 0w20 in the country right now. They even have C1 good for diesel engines. If Toyota says use 5w30, please don't buy any 5w30 you see, make sure that the oil is gasoline engine only and not diesel and gasoline like we find locally. Make sure that it is energy conserving or resource conserving. Toyota does not recommend any brand of oils but it has stated the attributes of the oil. Glife oil is being used by a lot of people irrespective of the car. But it is suitable for compact cars. There is also Motul engine oil sold locally. It's 5w30 api sl is the best for Toyota as Api sl was the last oil recommended by Toyota till they moved to 5w20. Please let everyone make our naija used cars to endure and not those cars that are being rejected because of poor maintenance.

Officially, to renew the documents of your car, you will have to do it yourself. The government is allowing fraudulent activities in the sector. Roadworthy certificate is supposed to be done by physically bringing your car to the center. But because of proxies like you, they only collect the money and expect you to come back within 30 days for the test. If one is busy to bring his car for inspection, is it after collecting the certificate that he will now bring the car for inspection? Either way, the mot is fake because the purpose has been defeated. The insurance certificate being given by proxy is another problem. I recently intervened in an accident between two people. They both had genuine insurance policies but the information on the hiace bus was misleading. It stated that the hiace bus is an SUV and even though the color was white, it was stated as yellow meadow. I remember a range rover that had brown as color in the policy while it was actually black color physically. These and many more are the reasons why proxies are not the right way to go. Corruption is endemic but while we condemn the leaders, we make a living out of it by our acts. Allow motorists to obey the laws and let them subject themselves to the physical computerized inspections .

I am not against his hustling but he should be knowledgeable in tyres to be able to educate us. The last picture shown does not look like summer tyres. Nigeria needs summer tyres at all times. There are a lot of tyres coming from the US that are all season tyres, a little to the left and a little to the right. Most of the tyres are speed restricted and so you find tyres with S speed ratings and temperature b. For a tyre to survive in the country, it must be temperature a without which the motorist is taking suicidal chances. He cannot now sell tyres to those asking without asking for the type of vehicle that needs the tyres. If it's a BMW, he does not know and therefore should ask and therefore propose to the buyer the type of tyres that will fit their car. Let him take pictures of the tyres showing the speed ratings and temperature rating of the tyres . Let's forget for now the date the tyre was made because that's another issue altogether. To think that the road generates nothing short of a billion Naira every month and they can’t even standardize the minuscule 15km road, it’s just sad.

I just tire for naija true. Go to yankee and both the toll road and it’s alternativ will be fresh. In fact, in yankee, the major reason for a toll road that I’ve seen, is a way to decrease the distance travelled, like how ikoyi link bridge decreases the distance travelled from Lekki to Ikoyi.

These guys just added one extra lane to the already existing road and started tolling, after using area boys to drive away protesters. Okay now that you have been successful in tolling, you can’t even put lanes on the road? Or make sure the road is fresh

It was supposed to be 49kms to epe. Since 2006, they have been constructing the road. By our concession laws, you must finish the road before you start tolling but greed and might is at play. They used RRS and Area boys to beat protesters and then 13yrs on the road, it is not near Epe.

You are right. It happened as you described and I went to the exact fare gate and gate man refused to collect 500 Naira and shut his gate. I rolled up my window and rolled down my seat and relaxed. After 5 minutes, the guy behind me came down and offered to pay for both of us. The gatemen have devised a way of not giving receipts after collecting money.
