Nairaland GeneralT-G-I-F(Thank God Its Friday) by spicyv1(op): 5:22pm On Sep 14, 2012
We hear, read and say this phrase very often. Especially by workers. TGIF is a popular phrase that originated from people who receive their paychecks on Fridays, so naturally they look forward to that day. However, Naija pips have quickly adopted that phrase and I'm sure that most people don't really know why they say it!

For me, I am always thankful its Friday because it is time to review how many business deals we have closed for the week and how many we are expecting the following week. I mean, we need the cash to play hard in the approaching weekend na wink

I also TGIF because I get to spend good time with Hubby outside work. And not to forget mentioning that I get to enjoy being pampered, the facials, the spa (not every weekend though) and the other fun tinz.

Why do you TGIF? What is it that you look forward to that makes you TGIF?

Well, just as people will call you delusional if you say you have a relationship thats lasted for years and is devoid θf cheating! Truth is people like to define your lifestyle by their standards and if you are strong willed, they think up ways to break you. Calling you weak na strategy to poke at your esteem. Deep down they wish they can get it right and live right like you but lack the courage to do so. Hence they gotta put you down for being brave enough to do and be what they struggle so hard to accomplish.

Basically, they are acting out θf misery.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Do You Go To Church (Options) ? by spicyv1(f): 3:34pm On Sep 14, 2012
Yes bro there are several I mean s-e-v-e-r-a-l scriptures that confirms the reasons that you earlier sited that people give for going to church.

" And it shall come to pass in the latter days, the mountain θf the Lord shall be established on top θf the mountains and exalted above the hills and all nations shall flow into it. And many people shall come and say, come and let us go up to the mountain θf the Lord, to the house θf the God θf Jacob for He shall teach us his ways and we will walk in His paths, for the law θf the Lord shall proceed from Jerusalem and the word θf the Lord from zion. (Isa.2:2-3).

I want to believe that you know that the term Zion according to scriptures is a spiritual place θf worship. Bro. the Lord expects His children to gather at a place to worship him and learn His ways. That is church and that IS the reason I go to church.

well, you almost convinced me but I still have this feeling.. (may be its personal).

Then in school, we love it when lecturers teach with laptops & ipads, infact I did a lot on powerpoint for myself and colleagues each time we have a seminar to present..

But what I don't like is seeing a pastor ON PULPIT touching the screen of a gadget at the same time talking to the congregation..

My sister, Have you ever imagine a church where members hold their blackberry phones, ipads, and other tablets and phones?

Some people tag it poverty.lol. maybe they will also call Adeboye, Kumuyi, & Oyedepo poor men for not using ipads on pulpit.

So many pastors are now on facebook etc. They own these gadgets. They tend to impact lives on air and web
BUT you will never see it on pulpit.

BusinessRe: Can One Do Street Food In Abuja? by spicyv1(f): 11:31am On Sep 14, 2012
You are welcome brother. I don't mind your asking questions on this subject as you need all the right information to help you succeed in this business. Well, I delved into catering some three years back. The year before, I had lost a very wonderful job. The company crashed as a result θf the global economic meltdown. I had bills to pay so I had to think fast on how to pay those bills. I wasn't really keen on going through the job search thing at that time because that Company crashing, felt like a heartbreak to me. I had afterall planned that it would be the last place I would werk as an employee. I was learning so much, making the right business contacts plus making gooood money.

Anyways, whilst thinking, the easiest thing that came to mind was my culinary skills. There were some banks located at the junction θf my close, so I approached them and told them I made really nice pancakes and sandwiches, that I would bring some the following day so they can have a feel θf my "out θf this world pancakes". grin wink The following day, I presented my samples and some θf the staff even paid for what was meant to be free. That was how I started, everyday, I would receive orders and make them available. Within a month, one θf the banks asked me if I could supply meals and I said oh sure! I have learnt that in business, when a client asks if you can provide a service, never say no!

So that was how the journey began. But, it began to be too demanding, I was cooking from home; a small self contained apartment back then with a kitchen that equally lacked space! The work was getting too demanding and started to take its toil on my health. Mind you, the reason I went into it in the first place was purely motivated by money which is not a good enough reason to get into business! So, I had to give it a break.

Now, I am a co-owner θf a thriving business that was built out θf passion! I have also learnt from my catering experience, it benefited me a loooot. Whilst doing that job, I got an outdoor catering contract from one θf the staff(my client), I was offered a job with one θf the banks which I turned down, lol and I made good contacts. I mean I was a young pretty and smart gurl who could engage my clients in intelligent conversation. Often times, when I made supplies, they wouldn't want me to leave, I would have to insist on leaving by reminding them that I had other clients to attend to. I also now know how to do things better, serve people better and when I go back, it would be very dynamic! Yes, I intend to go back to catering but this time it wouldn't be all about the money and it would certainly be big time.

Okay enough θf the rantings and back to your second question. You should meet with the admin personnel θf the Companies, in other cases, a staff who can introduce you to others. You should be prepared to offer samples for free. Your first meeting should have a catalogue θf dishes you will be offering and price range, that is for companies that staff are required to pay for their meals. Since you will be running a mobile kitchen, it would be more efficient for you to make quick deliveries. Be very proffessional please, pay attention to your clients and you will get bigger deals from them. Outdoor catering contracts for events and even home supplies! wink
CareerRe: How Your Temperament Affects Your Career Choice And General Performance. by spicyv1(f): 1:50am On Sep 14, 2012
Bibol: @Spicy -v, i've always admired your posts.
I agree with most of the things said in this thread. I want u to describe me grin
I don't talk much in the office, my colleagues always believe i like to listen more thn contribute and my boss thinks i can do more than i'm doing at the moment. I love tasking assignments and i often don't mind staying back in the office to finish the day's work. My friends "yabb" me that im a workaholic but i find that hard to believe. What do you think my temperament is?
Awww gurl, thanks smiley. Now, you really didn't give me a lot θf information to werk with but I will try my best to werk with what I have. So, let me highlight the points you gave me, present my analysis and match the results with the temperament combo that best fits.

You don't talk much and your colleagues believe you like to listen more than you contribute.
If this is true, you are a thoughtful person, you like to count your words, carefully articulate them before you speak. Hence, you are slow to respond. You want to make sure that when you speak, you are speaking wise words. You wouldn't want to rush in and make a senseless contribution hence the need to think your words through before speaking aloud. Also, you maybe less confident about how meaningful your contribution would be as you care a lot about what people think and so give yourself a lot θf negative self talk on why your contribution would not be appreciated.

If the above fits you, that is the Melancholy temperament.

Your boss thinks you can do more than you are doing.
This could be either θf two reasons, you are usually unmotivated, often contented with your "little" accomplishment hence your lack θf enthusiasm to do extra or you usually feel some form θf insecurity or self doubt about aiming higher, doing more, reaching for more, achieving more and stretching yourself. You probably are afraid θf failing, or afraid θf being perceived as competitive.

The first reason above is the attribute θf a phlegmatic and the second is a Melancholy.

You like tasking assignments and do not mind staying back to finish the days werk.
This means you love challenges. You are also a finisher as you like to see to the end θf a project. Means you are visionary because visionary people always see the end θf something from the beginning and are focused on working till that end is accomplished. Procrastination is also not your thing.

Now, that is classic Choleric.

Your friends tag you a workaholic but you find it hard to believe.
Well, Cholerics are workaholics. You probably do not believe you are a workaholic because you enjoy the fact that you work a lot, so much that you have gotten so used to it and don't notice. It is in your nature! cheesy gurl the fact that you mentioned you would often stay back to finish an assignment is proof you like to w-e-r-k wink

Given the analysis above, I would say you are a Mel/Chlo. Your dominant temperament is Melancholy and your passive is Choleric. Pheeeew!!! Lol. That's the reverse θf moi.wink

Acidiosis my brother, this yer thread funny me o! Are you serious or you jes wanna create a controversial topic? Lol my bros. Okay, so what about AC in the church? Mics nko? No need for them too na. Let's remain archaic! Remember what the bible says abt the sons θf Issachar(hope I got the spelling right?) The understood seasons and times! So if we are to make impact for God in the world we have to understand the times and flow with the changes. The unchurched are highly intelligent and sophisticated and you ought to communicate in a manner that would attract them whilst maintaing the ways θf God.

Study the bible, you would realise that God uses strategy! I mean He chose Paul who was highly educated and understood the ways θf the Romans to reach out to the Gentiles cos they are highly civilised as compared to the Jews.

Bros. I don't see anything wrong in that. The gospel is for the unsaved!

BusinessRe: Can One Do Street Food In Abuja? by spicyv1(f): 2:36pm On Sep 13, 2012
A small land in the heart θf Abuja for business purposes? I doubt that you can find that. As for your mobile kitchen, I see a couple θf that stuff around. I really can't help you with information regarding the requirements θf the appropriate authorities. I can only advice based on the office supplies which I feel is much more profiting and also an avenue to build long lasting profiting business relationship. I can say this because I delved into catering for a while, my target clients was the corporate sector but I eventually made supplies to financial institutions.

All you need do is locate office complexes and let them know what you have to offer. There are a couple θf such buildings at Maitama. There's this organization with a staff strength θf more than a hundred persons, the company pays for staff meal. Back then, a plate usually goes for #500 which has already been paid for by the org. but staff can make extra orders which they will may for. The org is located at Wuse 2. Really, I think the supplies to offices is a better deal.
