ProgrammingRe: I Need Help On Backend Development by stanliwise(m): 1:45pm On Oct 13, 2021
jansonn:
Hello guys
Some of you might have seen my thread on front end dev initially, so I'd skip introduction and all .
I've been talking to a friend and he said he'd advice I learn backend rather than front end dev. That backend is important in both web and mobile dev. Pls, guys, I still need your help, which do you think is better to learn in terms of value and job opportunity. And pls, what materials do I need to start the training. Thanks guys, you all really helped in the last thread.
which of them have you tried?

do the basic of both and know where you ground is.
frontend is more of aesthetics, if you're good at transforming nice design and animations you see into codes understandable by computer then you're a natural frontend person.

if you're a person of logic and understand how to use code to easily find answers to problem i.e able to think like a computer and solve problem in the way a computer could solve it. you're a backend coder.

opportunities abound in both so much that in your lifetime you may never exist from both end.

refraim your mindset and go grab a little experience from both end.

you cannot know how an apple taste until you eat it.

Fellow developers,

How did you keep yourselves motivated while learning coding.

The last few months have been tough for me since I started learning coding, lack of money, lack of data, frustrations sometimes you feel like giving up.

People, especially your host having the impression that that you're a lazy person that stays indoors and don't want to go out there and hustle.

On a second note, I have tried many hustles and I usually lost interest after a very short time.

However, coding is something that has caught my attention, maybe because it involves brain work.

So I ask, how did you guys keep yourselves motivated when you were learning programming.

PS: I'm available if you have some tasks for me. I know HTML CSS currently learning JavaScript.

Thanks.

I have quite some things to say but not to sound boring do this to stay productive.
productivity will bring the motivation to you first and then to your family.

first and first only one stack,
only what!!! only one stack
if you're frontend coder, stay frontend for now and if you're a backend coder stay backend for now.
only one CMS, only one framework let's say for the next six month.

frontend - html, css and js
backend - php or python or node or asp
cms - any one either wordpress or what ever you like.

Next - study only for kind of concept at a time, if when learning a concept you see another one that looks long, write it down until is necessary.

Third - study slowly and efficiently, by efficently I mean do alot of research until you understand what the concept is about and not just because you grazed through few lines.
Work on only one project at a time and move to another until you have done your best on one or spend quality time exploring till it start getting above your level.

Part 2
======
- Get a laptop and a good laptop
- Get a quality code editor - Visual studio is always the best
- Develop a routine and habit of time to study and keep at it until it starts becoming easy. it is very hard at first until you normalize it for like 2 weeks, power is number one problem. so develop a habit of twice a day or thrice a day so you can always switch.
- prepare and rest before your time to learn.
-find your type of environment

part 3
=====
- Avoid rush rush and five minutes videos. spend quality time to actually read things properly or slowly. find longer videos that explains topic properly and watch videos that explain how things work rather than how to make fancy things. a quality 30 mins video could take about 2 weeks to understands together with other research, do it, it would not always be like that later on

-Explore other people works and codes a little above your level as soon as you begin to gain more knowledge, it will help you understand they where not performing magic and you're growing.

- build and replicate small project but this time in your way to prove your pace in real life.

part 4
======
- find a team or someone who is an experience coder to work with (please forget about teacher except you want to pay him/her).
- work only on your stack with the team, and let the team cover the rest, the work can be free or paid but the benefit is that you learn
on the goal and give value with your own skill.
- Learn fromt the team.

part 5
====
- study other people codes and material
- learn from advance videos and materials
- learn from open source codebase and knowledge (wider than the sea)
- pay for quality courses and tutorial ( more than a life time)

Ignoring a girl who ignored ur advances towards her, as in, never even wanted to communicate with u or anything so she won't get attached or make u get attached to her or overlooking wat she did nd kip shooting ur shot which is better?

Is ignoring the girl dat ignored u being childish on ur part?
Or is overlooking it n still trying a show of shame on ur part?
The way the world works is a bit unfair for guys, you just have to be the one to go get what you want and that means go for it.
The only mistake you would make when going to get what you want is to loose too much resources. That is why you have to size everything just like a tiger in the jungle.
You have limited time, energy and cash to chase girls in the world. So
1. Chase the one you like
2. Spend more time with that complement(not compliment) the effort
3. Stay with the only one that worth it.

For the ones who are not in this list. Then spend just little time with this people.

The natural way of behavior is to keep chasing as they keep running and most cases chasing faster. Only a wolf thinks this way and that is because it has a park to feed from if he loses, this is called one-itis. Also you shouldn’t never degenerate into anger or frustration, no guy appear attractive in this form, you only appear like another loser who fit to be pitied with love and it never last.

A lone tiger don’t exhaust its energy. He has a good sense of calculation within few seconds before he launches and few seconds know when to give up.

So when a girl ignores you or pull far then reduce the amount of time you approach her but still keep her in the loop and the more she rejects you the more you fade away. It is very important that it must sync and it is always best if you’re the one to call the quit before she does. There is no straight forward advice to know when to do this but many times it is somewhat easy but tricky.

Even if she eventually says yes, you will still need to fade in same way you fade out.
Time to stay away from a girl if she does not fit your person. Don’t manage, just go. It is best for both you and her

Thanks for coming in and your opinion is highly appreciated.

I am a freshman in the University of Ilorin currently studying Agriculture (economics minor) but along the line, I developed interest in techy jobs. After embarking on research, I am stuck choosing between Data Science (with specialty in machine and deep learning), Business intelligence analysis and software development.

I seek advice from expert in the house as to which one should I go for considering the following criteria:

- There is tendency I go into academics (I felt data science will enhance my research prowess)

- learning curve

- Future potential in terms of Job security, and financial gains

PS: You can also contribute base on criteria you deem important

Gracias
Research about them naw and what they do. It is littered everywhere on the net and things to consider is

Resources
Learning curve
Time of mastery
Relatability

Just remove job security, future potential and pay from the equation. Any of them would give all this thing if you master them.

There are tons of project to advance and replicate. You just don’t know how to do it, is the answer.

BusinessRe: Help! Embarrassing Calls From Loan Companies by stanliwise(m): 8:10pm On Oct 06, 2021
yongg:
You'd be surprised how realistic it gets. You get to access better interest rate over time and a meaningful amount when you use that strategy... Else by the time you need a loan for the first time you actually need it what will be on offer would most likely be a NGN 10,000 max. With interest rate as high as 30%... That's not all, one may also get constrained by max duration of 30 days some even 28 or 15 days max.

With that strategy you get better rates because of your record with the lender's credit rating system, or the general credit rating system... Which you still might not know untill you test with the lender at a time you don't actually need a loan (back here again, lols). That way you will know whether the lender even uses a credit rating system of any kind... It will help one filter the better lenders....

Other fringe benefits exist, like getting to know the ease of payment. Now this one doesn't look important untill you realize that some lenders whether intentionally or not make repayments difficult so they can amass more money by charging penalties per day you miss a payment, very insidiously dubious if you ask me. Especially reviews coming from loan apps with Chinese backers(It's allegedly, don't take my word for it, I could be wrong on this one).
This things you’re stating can easily be trashed out with personal research and consultation from experience people but a simple as it sound Infact about 90% of people who comes for loan has little to no knowledge about loan and it’s dangers except for its benefit.

My elder sister works for REN money and I understand how research about loan is very important because to be sincere a lot of people lack knowledge about loans and which company is best to get loan.

Some don’t understand when loan is good. As much as loan looks more attractive while everything is ok, people don’t go for it during those days and it is very unrealistic and a bit unpractical which is where I don’t see your point and even if that happen it wouldn’t stop people from still taking bad loans

80% of bad loan experience is miscalculation and wrong information. Some don’t even get to qualify for a loan when the moment comes

So avoiding loan or taking loan in good moment is not a way forward for people with bad loan history
BusinessRe: Help! Embarrassing Calls From Loan Companies by stanliwise(m): 7:23pm On Oct 06, 2021
yongg:
I like what you said in the last paragraph. It's always the way to go when dealing with loans of various kind

Also, in Nigeria where there's low regulation of these lenders who muddy people's vulnerabilities with high interest rate, the best time to borrow or expose one's self to lending is when one absolutely have no need for the loan and you can repay it... maybe even several times over. The reason is so one can get a better interest rate (if they have, as I have noticed some lenders in Nigeria do not run a dynamic credit rating system, even if one borrows for 10years they will not reduce their 20-37% PER MONTH interest rate).

This way you know where to get the best rates, and lenders that are professionals and not loan sharks to deal with when the circumstances that will actually make one require a loan for real happens.
Why you have a very strong point. But saying borrowing loan when you don’t need them or when you can repay it is not realistic.

Instead one should always make research about loan even when things are good.
But a lot of people are ill informed about how and where to get loans when time need. They only rush through the agreement under pressure and make poor decisions.

Best time to learn about loan is during time of comfort so when that time comes, one make good decisions. Loans help people use available resources for available opportunities

Getting loans for useless reasons other than business or critical conditions is what is very bad.

There are so many people once they see something amazing and great, the first thing they do is ask for the source codes.
If you really want to be great in what you do, examine the output, try to picture the codes in your mind then try in every way you can to create something like or greater than what you have seen
The source code won't impact anything in your learning skill, instead it makes you lazy
Have a creative mindset, think of crazy ideas , google what certain codes are used for and how they are used then try creating something with it. Believe me you would be 90% better than you were before. It also helps you easily remember every codes that you have ever used
