You do know Steph will be 32 and hitting the back end of his prime from next season while Giannis isn't 25 yet right?
32 is a good age to still be at the top of your game. And are you suggesting GS will swiftly switch from a 3 ball team to a one-man marauding show?
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 9:47pm On Jul 20, 2019
My guy is choosing Giannis because he's a better passer. grin

Boy did I hate the Spurs in the early 00's especially Duncan and how annoyingly efficient he was. That bank shot was so money and this guy just found a way to raise his game in the playoffs. Every time

Giannis does not need a 3 pt shot IMO. Just a reliable jumper whether from 8-12ft that he can hit even at a 50 percent clip. LeNomad for example is less than 40% from the floor anywhere outside 3ft. Career. Let that sink in
No sir. He is almost 42% from 3-10ft

Lmaooooo Milwaukee were essentially a poor man's Golden State last season. I don't know how anyone with working eyes would think Giannis would not fit in with Golden State
The difference is Giannis was the focal point of the attack. And no one said he can't fit with GS. The question is can he be an MVP candidate?

Previously I'd take AD. Presently I roll with Giannis. Let's gloss over the fact that AD lacks that alpha dog mentality and chose to be LeNomad's sidekick for a crucial stretch of his prime.

Giannis is the better passer and better defender. Plus he's a post move or two away from being the next Karl Malone or Tim Duncan
Lol. Ain't this a hater?

AD...not only is he a better shooter, he reads the game better. Scary thing about Giannis is he has a long way to go, but already won MVP just on raw talent.
Didn't deserve the MVP if you ask me. But hey, who am I to argue?

Bro, he will get those 30 points per night regardless. See there's enough to go around in GSW because of the way they play. They move the ball around. And mind you, I strongly disagree with your logic that they know how to play one way. With KD, on and off the floor we saw they could play multiple ways. I guess you wanted to say they play best through Steph and Klay but even that is debatable cos KDs presence on the court won them the last 2 championships, it would have been tougher without him. Giannis is a different animal to KD. He doesn't have the finesse that KD has, his shooting isn't as good. But his play in the paint, is definitely the most dominant in the league today. He is an elite defender in today's league. He rebounds on both ends pretty good too. Don't forget he can also set decent screens and knock down some open 3s, so what else do you need. He does not have to be KDs carbon copy, he just needs to play his game and let the Splash Brothers worry about shooting from outside the arc. Bro, Giannis will even be a better fit than KD for this Warriors team and I do not think for one second his numbers will dip. In GSW, Klay and Steph will ensure his numbers don't suffer cos they are selfless players, through and through. And come playoff time, he will have teams like LAC and LAL for breakfast. I am yet to see an NBA player that dominant in the paint. Prime Cousins before the injury comes close. AD also has the potential. Though I have to admit, ADs game is more mature and sustainable than that of Giannis, but Giannis is a tireless worker and he can only get better bro. Trust me his game and number will not suffer.
Look, his numbers might not dip quite alright, but then Steph would be the one to suffer. It's highly unlikely for both Giannis and Steph to record 30 in the same night. I can't see that happening. Don't you see how GS play? Anything they do on attack is just to get the ball in the hands of Steph and Klay, any other thing is only if there is a freer player to pass the ball to. And Giannis can't spend his time hanging around the three point line because he's not efficient there. And Draymond is probably the primary ball handler for them. You could say that of Steph too. So where does that leave Giannis? In and around the paint. Giannis would automatically become a centre for GS, because playing 2 to 3 players who can't shoot 3 is not what GS are about. As per defending and rebounding, Giannis would still be very efficient.

And for the thought of Giannis eating LAL for breakfast, I say LOL to that. AD would take care of him just fine.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m):
kayjay69:
I kind of disagree bro and here's why. GSW have shown that they can just about blend any player into the way they do things. Giannis can still continue to be the focal point of their attack and that may well take the attention off Steph and Klay such that they'll have enough space to shoot uncontested 3s. Also, you must remember come playoff time when it gets physical and the tempo slows down, the Splash brothers struggle against certain teams, that is where you'll understand the usefulness of Giannis. Agreed, Giannis is not a finished article, he even admitted to that recently saying he is 60% of what he knows he can be. But make no mistake bro, Giannis will fit perfectly into GSWs offense and defense. I could even argue he would fit better than KD, just watch. If he comes, they will be a championship team again.
Don't get me wrong, Giannis would fit perfectly in GS, but saying he's going to be the focal point of their attack is quite absurd. GS only know how to play one way. The team is built around Steph and Klay. For Giannis to come in and be their first port of call on attack is highly unlikely. But like I said, he would fit well with them, but it will only be to his detriment. He won't be able to put up 30 points per night like he does with Bucks. I know he's aware of that.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 4:56pm On Jul 18, 2019
kayjay69:
He doesn't really need to. But on a sidenote, his shooting has been improving year on year and I'm sure he will only get better. I agree his current style of play is not sustainable in the longer term and against certain teams but GSW has great shooters, they only need someone who can get to the RIM with relative ease and can defend, they need that guy who can dominate in the paint against anyone, in Giannis they'll have all that and even more. You know he is good friends with Steph off the court and they share the same agency so I believe it is the most logical move for GSW in order for them to return to championship contention.
I get your point, but Gianis would have to take the back seat in the team. Why KD was able to fit in that team was because he could shoot...mid range, spot up 3, dribble and shoot, as well as driving to the rim. With Gianis on this team, he would be more like an afterthought during attacks, maybe when the perimeter is well guarded and they have no other option. And I realise he could be double-teamed thereby giving the shooters open threes, but this can only be good for Steph and Klay. It won't be a surprise if he averages 15 points per game in a GS shirt.

I'll give you this season beat all you want. But don't worry Giannis is coming to GSW next summer and you can write this down somewhere.
Lol, but he would have to learn how to shoot first. If not, there's no place for him in GS

Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m):
Ah, my friend Eruditor returns cheesy How was the exile I sent you on?

A quick take on one or two of your points.

Eruditor:
Like I said before, maybe 3-5 years ago this roster would have been scary because you would have had AD and Boogie on 20+/10+ in terms of ppg and rpg and then the icing on the cake would have been Lebron. But barring AD who is still approaching his peak no other player is at that level you are projecting anymore.
Lol to the portion in bold. AD is at his peak already. LeBron is also at his peak. Boogie is getting close to something like his peak. He averaged 16ppg and 8rpg in 25mins with GS last season. For a third or 4th option, that would be excellent.

Eruditor:
First off, this team is filled with many players who somewhat play or can deputize in the same roles. There is, in my eyes, an over-duplication of roles that the media are glossing over. And when the roles are not being duplicated, they seem to overlap themselves which portends questionable team chemistry.
You speak as if Cook, Green, KCP, Bradley, Caruso and co are all going to be on the floor at the same time. But that clearly isn't going to be the case. An over-duplication means that at all times, the Lakers can afford to have at least 2 good shooters on the floor, not having to worry about over-playing anybody in any given game

Eruditor:
And when the LAL don't win it this coming season, Lebron will be 36 and still declining
I've asked you to show me proof that LeBron is declining but you have failed to. Your saying he's declining is not nearly enough proof

Eruditor:
The WC is a lot different than the east. The team's that barely scrape 50wins don't usually go on to be exponentially better in the playoffs. The trends have shown it. So the "we can be 3rd or 4th seeds and become something else crunch time", does not translate
You're basing your argument on the fact that you think Lakers will win 50 games. From what ever calculations you made, did you put into consideration the fact that LeBron was injured last season? Thus the 37 wins? I know you might say LeBron could still get injured this season, but the difference is we have AD this time around. Without LeBron's injury last season( plus the disharmony as a result of the trade rumours) we win 50 games. Now you can add your 13 games. How's that for a honest calculation? But I say we win 60 games this season.

Steph plays in an era better suited for smaller players not just to shine but to be arguably the best player in the league.

You're hopelessly demented if you cannot see that what makes Steph great has nothing to do with Speed, strength or athleticism. What proof do you have that Steph and IT are stronger and more athletic than PG's from that era? You mean Steph is stronger and more athletic than Gary Payton, Penny Hardaway, Kevin Johnson?

The Steph Curry that is missing wide open dunks is supposed to be quicker, stronger and more athletic than older generation PG's? You positively must be on crack!!

No mugu. But the ability to put the ball in the basket is the single most important trait. Every other scheme revolves around putting it in the basket and preventing the other team from putting it in the basket.

Because his competition matched that and also played the other end of the floor just like the GOAT
You would have a point only if Jordan scored 100% of his team's points. But since others also scored, while contributing on the defensive end, I'm afraid you can't just sweep their contributions under the carpet.

You're a confused Muppet that simply cannot read. Why are players who are not the epitome of speed, athleticism and power dominating this era that is supposed to be filled with quicker, bigger and stronger players.
Look at the photo I attached and notice the portion I highlighted before you begin with your folly. You mentioned qualities like bigger, stronger, faster and more athletic and I highlighted the last three because although SC and IT are not big, they are certainly stronger, faster and more athletic than point guards from the previous era. Just like we had Jerry West, John Stockton and Steve Nash do well in their eras, SC and IT are doing well in this era as well. Or do you expect a point guard to be as strong as a power forward just because they play in an era that is stronger and bigger. Compare SC of this era to Jerry West of that era and tell me who is bigger, stronger, faster and more athletic. Also compare IT of this era and Mogsy Bogues of that era.
