And if the lakers dont go for a max player and decide to split the money for solid role players, who would you like to see them go for?
Seth Curry
Julius Randle

His defense around the rim has been better, sometime next season the Lakers will need a rim protector who can shoot three's other than AD.
Last season, with Lonzo and Bron still in the team, we were 3rd, 8th and 9th respectively in defensive rating in the first 3 months, thanks in no small part to Javale. I think AD and Javale will do just fine.

Man has improved oh...
Improved. Well, if you say in three point shooting, yes, but all round game, not so much. He might have been useful if we hadn't acquired AD, but now that we have AD, Lopez is a no no.

The biggest steal will be if they can get Malcolm brogdon and Brook Lopez away from Milwaukee. These two will mesh perfectly with lebron and AD.
I wonder why y'all keep mentioning Brook Lopez. Pls, that guy is as inconsistent as can be. I'm glad we let him go in the first place. He can't rebound and can't defend, and since he won't even be a second or third scoring option, I don't see his need in my team.

No you're not, different league but magic johnson wasnt exactly a good shooter but the same principles apply. Ben simmons, Rubio, Westbrook plenty of PG who cant shoot. Plus rondo actually shot well from the 3 last year.

LOL! Based on what assessment? one or two games when the lakers season was already over? Might as well sign andre ingram if thats the case. You'd take someone averaging less than 10 points in the G league over a possibly HOF point guard?
As you rightly noted, s different league. This is a three point shooting league and a guard dominated league. Simmons would eventually turn to a forward who can play point. You saw that in the playoffs where he wasn't trusted to play point. Rubio would never play for a championship hopeful team. And for Westbrook, you damn know he's gonna shoot the ball anytime he's open.

And Caruso averaged 19 points last year. Rondo made his mark in his first 9 or so years in this league, when the league was transitioning from Center dominated to point guard dominated. And Rondo has never shot above 65% from the FT line. What kind of PG is that? He's just a liability when it comes to shooting. Look, as for playmaking, we'd have LeBron and hopefully Kemba as our primary playmakers, while Caruso and KCP can carry the second unit.

See how conservative you are with your predition? 25 points LOL! Let me show you what a real monster looks like even after sitting out half of the season.
It's amazing how folks can say Giannis is better than this guy. I barely see him on any top 5 list. They seem to have forgotten how good he is just because he failed to make the playoffs. We're in a league where players are judged by their ability to take their team to the playoffs. But pound for pound, AD is as good as anybody in this league. Easily in my top 5.

LarcPickerin:
Rondo has one of the highest basketball IQs in recent times. A backup PG doesnt have to be a knockdown shooter if the second unit has enough shooters around him. Plus playoff rondo is a beast. As for caruso, its one thing for a g league player to play well in useless games and its another playing for a serious championship contender. I'd take terry rozier or collison before alex caruso, easily. Bullock was thrown in the midst of chaos, hard for him to thrive in a situation like that. I'm willing to give him and rondo the benefit of the doubt.

I'm looking at this free agency class and people arent mentioning vucevic among the stars, he is but will be a horrible fit with the lakers. Apart from rondo, javale bullock and KCP I look at the other role players to fill out the bench knowing the lakers might be a little cash strapped after getting a third star star and i see, b bogdanovic (admittedly unlikely), brook lopez, deandre jordan, mirotic, marcus/markieff morris, jeremy lamb, terrence ross, wesley matthews and i like jeff green. Theres enough to build a solid team out there if they play their cards right, they can use potential rings as leverage to get some to lower their salary demands. Good times ahead.
Whether a starter or a backup point guard, you're expected to know how to shoot. It's a terrible sight to see your point guard opt to dribble or pass the ball instead when he has an open look. You want your point guard to shoot the ball when even half a chance is presented.

As for Caruso, whether it's dead rubber game or play off clincher, making 3s is making 3s, rebounding well is rebounding well. You can't say it don't mean nothing. If he gets the chance to do it in a playoff clincher, he won't hesitate. And besides, his 32 points(including 5 threes)/10 rebounds game came against the Clippers who were fighting for a playoff place.

The dilemma for the lakers. Kemba or Butler? Thats a tough one, Kemba is a better shooter which the lakers will obviously need but butler is an amazing defender, has loads of heart and is an all round dog. I guess it depends on who they sign to fill out the rest of the team. Finding the right fit is very important, more than just throwing in a bunch of stars together. I'd really like to see Javale, KCP and maybe bullock and rondo back. Everyone else can go. Get as many shooters as possible to replace them.

What an amazing position to be in.
Naa, Rondo must leave. A point guard who can't shoot is useless in this league. I say get Kemba and promote Caruso. That guy is underrated. He can give 10-15 points from the bench.

Bullock needs to prove that last season was an aberration rather than the norm.

With A.D and another superstar joining LeBron and kuzma, suddenly I am beginning to miss the warriors angry and I am a Lakers fan grin. It would have been nice to have two superteams go at each other. The NBA is simply a league of superteams and a few exceptions in between.

Meanwhile the pelicans look tasty, lonzo and Ingram are still 21yrs old shit! They have enormous room for growth especially Ingram. The pelicans have 2 potential superstars on their hands with zion and Ingram. A pass first floor general in lonzo. A borderline all-star in in jrue holiday that can offer veteran leadership or be flipped for further juicy assets. A 4th pick, and a stash of first round picks.
These guys have assets, young stars, and cap space. They will be in prime position in the future to make trades for superstars. And they have a great GM.
The pels may well be a championship team in 3yrs.
Well, you'll get that super team matchup in the playoffs.

And the Pels would get nothing but late first rounders with those future picks. They'll be lucky to even get below 25th pick.

I think overall that was a good deal for the Lakers. They did well to keep Kuz. Hart and Ball are injury prone this early in their careers. Ingram will be a star, but superstar? Not too sure

Fate was like take Klay and Looney out. We won game 2. Take Looney back we lost games 3 &4 (dodgy officiating et al). Fate relaxes like Raptors got this. Then KD and Klay come back..we are leading healthy..fate takes KD..we still win. Game 6 we are winning healthy and are sure to win. Fate takes Klay out. At this rate, if we had won game 6. Steph would have lost his ankles and then Draymond would have been suspended.

We submit to fate and trust that the future will reward us.

Lol. This is sports bro, and imma enjoy this while it lasts. I wont get the chance often so I'm grabbing it with both hands now that it's here. We all had to watch how all you warriors fans talked trash in here, like y'all were some kind of formidable people with perfect lives just because you support a team that looked unbeatable. Not knowing that the god of basketball had other plans and your joy came crashing down.

Lol. Even that one called Eruditor went as far as saying he saw the future. Now tell me that alone doesn't deserve all this. Live with it bro, it'll only last a fee weeks grin

Boogie can go anywhere he pleases. I said what GSW said which is that he will be offered that $6M if no one else gives him the money he is looking for. I am not sure he is at the top of any GSW supporter's list. I would take Rudy Gay over him - every time and they don't even play the same position.

What I need is another solid scorer to help during the regular season. Curry and Draymond can rally the squad to the playoffs. Then a healthy KD and Klay will be back to take us to a first championship at San Francisco where we will finally get to win 3 straight en route to 3 peating.
You say?

Then what is Kyle Lowry?

I can educate but I cannot cure chronic ignorance.

If Klay being a first time all star on a basic salary with iffy finals performances is a superstar. What is Kyle lowry with multiple all star appearances, many huge games and a $100M 3 year contract? Lol.

At least, you did not try to defend Lebron who has won nothing without super stars whereas Curry has 1.

All those fringe players were not key. We were top heavy. Outside of KD, SC and Klay we had no other true scorers. That was the biggest issue. Cousins could have been that but the man is still recovering. I heard GSW will offer him the $6M one year option if no club gives him what he wants the following year. If he stays healthy he will be immense.

But like I said, Cook and Jerebko were defensive liabilities and then could not score when they were left free. That was huge. Shaun L has one more year but I hope he baulks and decides to leave now to give us that salary cap space..he let his team down.
Lol, if you think Boogie would take anything less than 10 mil you better wake up. The only reason why he accepted 5 was cos he needed a ring so desperately and he was recovering from an injury. He has passed that stage now, and he has seen that GS can't really assure him that ring. He has learnt his lesson.
There'll surely be teams willing to offer him up to 15 mil. With a good offseason, I'll surely take him at LA for 15 mil.

lol

he plays to win. On his bad day he still shoots better than Lebron. If Steph had 38 FGA yesterday he would have had 40+ points and the Warriors would have still lost.

Funny, Steph needs good players lol but you are begging AD and Kyrie and even Kawhi to join him so he will win.

LOOOOOL
Lol, but when he meets a stern defense like that of the Raptors, especially without Klay and KD, his deficiencies are exposed cos he is forced to take more bad shots. Which is what we saw in game 6

As soon as Klay went down, Raptors decided to swarm Curry to force the ball out of his hands. He was making the right plays by passing the ball to the right players but sadly only Iggy and to a lesser degree Cousins made them pay. The other players were useless. That was the reason the game was close. Of course, when a rhythm player is not shooting he gets out of rhythm and the shots become iffy. See how Lowry stopped shooting well after his foul troubles?

Whether Curry hit the game winner or not, it would have been postponing the evil day. Without Klay, we would have needed Kawhi to call in sick on the game 7 morning to make the game a contest. The Raptors had too many scorers compared to our team without KD and Klay. We could have won without one of the 2. But stood no chance without both.
It goes to show that Curry can't really play by himself. He needs other good players just so he can get those open shots.
