Every time I post something here, somebody, who was probably taking a dump in his toilet when he saw the post, would just jump in here and say trash without even checking facts. Y'all know me, whatever I post here, I post with verifiable facts, actual numbers, something I can base my argument on. But you, your fingers think faster than your brain.

Well, let me feed your ignorance once more. In the 1988-89 season, MJ led his team to a measly 6th in the east. Magic rightly won the MVP for taking the Lakers to 1st in the west.

As for 96-97, the Bulls and Jazz finished 1st in their respective conferences. These were Jordan and Malone's stats. Choose your MVP

Jordan: 29.6 pts
4.3 ast
5.9 reb
1.7 stl
0.5 blk
27.8 PER

Malone: 27.4 pts
4.5 ast
9.9 reb
1.4 stl
0.6 blk
28.9 PER

You actually made a sound argument. Unfortunately for you, what Usain Bolt is known for is winning gold medals not coming up second. grin. While you are content with second place, which is not a bad thing, some sportsmen actually want to win it all. They are addicted to winning. Once they get to the finals, they gotta win. Pele. 3 out of 9 is damn poor, I am afraid. You got wifed too many times. As for the other guy. He wins by a margin. He doesn't sweat it out. He crushes you. He makes you understand that he's superior. Hell no, you are not getting a game 7. No chance.grin
But Jordan has failed more times than LeBron for not getting to the finals 9 times.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 4:16pm On Mar 16, 2020
What the LeBron haters won't tell you is that LeBron has made it to the finals 9 times in 16 years, that's 56% of the time. Jordan, meanwhile, went to the finals only 6 times in 15 years, amounting to only 40%. You could say Jordan went 6 for 6 in those finals, but what was he doing the remaining 9 times? Are we just going to sweep that under the carpet? In 16 years, LeBron failed to get to the finals only 7 times, like he owned the league or something, a league of 30 teams. What are the odds?

LEBRON IS THE TRUE GOAT

You guys are beginning to cross the line into the miasma of personal attacks that can make this place toxic. We've been there before and I bet nobody enjoyed it.

Basketball, a game, brought us together in this thread. Let's not lose track of this fact. It's only a game. Let's treat each other with dignity. Let the personal attacks stop.
We obviously have a lot of temperamental folks here, those who can't write a couple of lines without throwing in a few insults. grin Some of them might be dealing with some inner issues and so use this means to let it all out, so don't blame them entirely smiley

Wishing injuries on players other than Lebron in the contest of carrying a team is not ignorance. It's cynicism. You clearly wrote, "Giannis next", And that doesn't speak well of you. Own it. That was a terrible utterance.

If you like dig up a post where I wished death on Harden or Adam Silver. Hell, dig up a post where I said I like eating vomit, na you sabi. Trying to divert your spotlight to a post I probably made out of ignorance, even if you're trying as much as you can to paint the post to what you want it to mean. At the end of the day, Luka Doncic went on his injury spell out, Giannis is on his spell out. What I said that day is exactly what happened. You can bash your head on transformer if you're pissed.

Baba you just dropped bars !!!

The hate of Lebron is out of this world. I just don't get it

Whatever Lebron does, they must find an excuse to bash him or at least diminish his achievements. As in, wetin that man go do that is humanly achievable to be respected? We are talking about someone who is historical top 10 in almost every statistic that matters in this game. At this point, he must simply go on with his life, there is no hope.

But when he dies, them go form tears

man, lebron is great! Am a gsw fan and my God, that guy? I think to me, he contributes to winning more than any superstar past or present . He can do everything(his free throw shooting is a bit shaky), but i got no gripes with that man.
That's the spirit bro

People on this thread don't know I had MJ as the GOAT at one time. But as LeBron went on doing what he was doing, I just had to swallow my pride and crown him GOAT. The transition wasn't easy, but it was necessary. Perhaps I didn't watch enough Jordan to stick with him till now, but you can say that of virtually everyone on this thread. Most of them don't even like or know MJ that much, they just want to choose anybody that ain't LeBron grin
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 7:54pm On Mar 13, 2020
How can one man be hated this much? I mean, I know greatness comes with a little criticism, but this is just outrageous. Jordan never received this much hate. The haters will say bs like "it's because of his fans that we hate him so much", but that's just giving a useless excuse to continue in your baseless hate.

People on this thread would legit commit suicide if LeBron wins the championship and wins another MVP to match their forced goat, MJ.

Honestly, stop making a fool of yourself. grin. Stop making deductions when you don't have enough information from the other end. We are obviously talking about who the MVP is right now. So there can always be a contender until there is a winner. When someone opines that someone is the MVP, it's probably a momentary assertion, unless the other party says otherwise. You can always ask to be sure. grin. So in real-time(since it seems there's some sort of time dilation on your end grin), saying someone is the MVP at a point in time does not mean, he'll get the crown. The clause was "Giannis is the rightful MVP". Meanwhile, you asked a question i am yet to answer. grin.I will get back to you.
First of all, you didn't need to use a total of 4 grinning emojis to hide your sadness. And secondly, how do y'all now claim LeBron is an MVP contender when just a few days ago, y'all said AD was more valuable to the team. Abi can there be two real MVP contenders from one team?

Stop asking me stupid question like you have been doing all day and all night. Ask your fellow Lakers fans and players alike. Ask pundits that have him and Giannis as primary contenders and stop asking me silly questions

Same way Steph and KD couldn't win MVP is the same way AD and Bron shouldn't because they more or less cancel each other out, a lot more than Dwight, Javale do to AD defensively as you can see there is little or no drop in his numbers apart from rebounds
Should we also ask the pundits that admit that LeBron is an MVP contender? cheesy

In a team with Dwight, McGee and LeNomad you want him to average the exact same numbers he was averaging in New Orleans?? Are you sure your agbari is functioning at all?

Did KD and Steph's numbers remain the same or dropped when they ended up in the same team?
Lol, in that case, how is he now a DPOY candidate? You're just contradicting yourself up and down. Continue cheesy

Stephen and KD's numbers dropped and so none of them were able to win MVP, how is AD any different with Dwight, JaVale and Bron? grin

A40:
Shut up my friend. This is Anthony Davis's best defensive season and the first time he's openly been touted as a DPOY. This was not the case in NO

Unless you can show where I or anyone else predicted LeNomad and Davis will not deliver and be contenders you are making absolute noise.

They have complimented each other and it was automatic the minute LeNomad and AD formed a team that the Lakers were going to be a contender. Bron doesn't have to go full throttle every night because AD can share the load and vice versa.

I can credit Davis for the success of the Lakers and also opine that he underperformed in New Orleans. Both are not mutually exclusive
This year he's averaging 9.4 rebs, 2.4 blks and 1.5 steals. In 2017 he averaged 11.1 rebs, 2.6 blks and 1.5 steals. Last year he averaged 12.0 rebs, 1.6 steals and 2.4 blks. In 2014 he averaged 10.2 rebs, 1.5 steals and 2.9 blks. His defensive win shares for 2014, 2016 and 2017 were 4.2, 5.1 and 4.9 respectively. His defensive win shares for this season is 4.1. Notice he hasn't surpassed any of those categories this year. Or are you not a numbers guy again? grin

(I'm waiting for you to tell me that there are things that don't show in the box score cheesy)

In 2005-06, these were Steve Nash's numbers:

18.8 ppg
10.5 apg
4.2 rpg
0.2 bpg
0.8 spg
12.4 WS
23.3 PER
4.9 VORP

21.8 ppg
1.8 apg
11.8 rpg
1.7 bpg
2.0 spg
14.6 WS
23.6 PER
5.6 VORP

Was he a surefire DPOY candidate like now? He was always a good defender but never consistently dominated like he should have considering his size. Can only point to two seasons of elite defense. One of the reasons the Pelicans always struggled was because they couldn't stop anybody. A guy like AD was supposed to set the tone, he didn't always do so

What is even your argument? What was supposed to be the record of a team with Anthony Davis and LeBron? If Chris Paul and Harden could win 65+ games their first season then I don't know why you're gleefully celebrating what is par for the course.

Put AD with Harden, Steph Curry the outcome will be similar so I don't get your argument
All these okoto you're yarning. I want to know what has changed about AD's game that makes him an MVP candidate ahead of LeBron. He has always been a defensive monster, I don't know what you're talking about. 3 time all defensive team and 3 time blocks leader should tell you that. Don't give the excuse that he's playing better D and so deserves MVP

Stop being unnecessarily strong-headed. Nobody is praising AD, as you know yourself, he's done this before. We are only punching holes in your Lebron for MVP campaign. If you didn't get this then i am very sorry for you. At least that was my point, unless @A40 thinks differently. grin
Oh, you're changing your mind? AD doesn't deserve to be MVP again? cheesy
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m):
A40:
Stop asking me jejune questions. A player of AD's caliber should have led the Pelicans to more playoff appearances. That one is sacrosanct

I'm praising him for the Lakers because every single metric points to him being equally responsible for their success. He has sufficient help in another top 5 player in the league(some say he's the best)

Is Giannis playing with anyone as good as AD or Bron?

Again I'm asking you. Where is the contradiction? Abi what did you think you proved by quoting my posts
But AD had similar numbers with the Pels, why didn't you cut him some slack? He now plays with the Lakers with such numbers and he's suddenly being praised.

This comment especially was made by you in December, 2 months into the season

A40:
What was the disrespect? That he failed to lead New Orleans? Did we lie?

That Giannis is comparable to him. Is that disrespect?

Because he has the luxury of playing with LeNomad we no go hear word?
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 10:55am On Mar 12, 2020
A40:
Are you serious at all? How does this quote not highlight what my opinion about AD has always been? And the fact that I expected him to do better at New Orleans. If I didn't rate him highly why foist such expectations on his shoulder?

Where is the contradiction?
So why did you bash him for not leading the Pels to success only for you to now praise him for the Lakers' success this year?
