Odingo1: Humans and animals are believed to be created the same period not older from each other by the space of 1 week, while the skulls of Apelike animals are dated to about 3-5 million years ago, the skulls of modern humans are only dated for about 350,000 years ago scientifically indicating a gradual evolution from primitive humans to modern humans. well it is all speculation, no evidence for it. Carbon dating depends on many assumptions, which might not be true at all, hence the seemed dates incorrect. Evolution is a belief because it can not be tested just speculations upon speculations. |

But he can command men to kill babies right? Same thing Herod did. So killing children is now better than raping them and doing human sacrifices? You Christians never cease to amaze me. Why do human judges have right to kill but ordinary man on the street does not? God has right to take any life he wishes because all life belongs to him but Herod owns no life. The reason why murder is a sin is because no one has right to take a life that he did not own. |

I didn't say it had anything to do with it. I'm asking, why does Exodus say "Thou shall not kill",only for the Christian god to order men to kill innocent children? Isn't that a contradiction? Or you want to lie to yourself?
It's like saying "Thou shall not engage in human sacrifices" only for the Christian god to command people to carry out human sacrifices. It's like saying "thou shall not rape", only for the Christian god to command men to rape children. Please do justice to my question. Thank you. The Christian God can never command rape or human sacrifice. All what God did was to minimize evil on earth. There is no contradiction, God is the law giver and the enforcer of the law. A judge has the power to pass death sentence upon a man But you don't have such right. Thou shall not kill, does not include God the law giver, God is not under any law whatsoever. God is righteous to execute A wicked nation. The death of those children or babies is to prevent such wickedness from spreading from generation to generation, Whatever God is in righteousness. Before the coming of christ the method God used in minimizing evil is to cut the source off, but since christ has come, Jesus is God's solution for sin, God now command every man to repent and believe in Jesus. |

God created the heavens and then expands it.
Isaiah 42:5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
Isaiah 45:12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
This is even before the big bang and the evidence that space is expanding. |

Workch: how does entropy show that matter is not eternal? You better study carefully before answering this question because you have started talking like illiterate again.
Usable energy will be zero, so that makes energy not eternal. Do you have a working brain? Do you understand how entropy works in a closed system? For you to conclude energy is eternal you must have all the evidence. Do you know the Noether's theory? It proposes that the conservation of energy is a function of symmetry. Any departure from this would simply mean the conservation law would not be hold. That energy is conserved today does not mean it will always be. Nothing is absolute in science |

TenQ: I dont know about Noether's theory however, I certainly believe that 1. Matter and the current laws of Physics came into existence after the big bang 2. Since the big bang, entropy has been increasing 3. This increasing entropy show that the universe has an end...and if the universe has an end, it cannot be eternal. It takes a constant universe for it to have been eternal 4. The laws of physics break down before the big band and after entropy is maximum.
I dont think the laws of physics could have arisen out of nothing. There must be a prime mover who is infinitely powerful, timeless, immaterial and eternal who set the universe in motion. Christians will call such a Prime mover God. yea! Correct |
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Matter And Energy Eternal? by Steep(op): 10:51am On Jan 06, 2022 |
TenQ: Entropy show that Matter is NOT eternal Energy of course should be eternal only that USABLE energy will be zero Well it would only mean that usable energy is not eternal, and since non usable energy is useless in terms of doing work, does it not mean that there must necessarily be a cause to the existence of the universe? Again, what do you say about Noether's theory, that suggest that the Law of conservation of energy is only a product of symmetry? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Matter And Energy Eternal? by Steep(op): 7:40pm On Jan 05, 2022 |
There was a female physicist that proposed a theory called the Noether's theory. This theory suggested that the Law of conservation a is a law of symmetry. Which means the law of conservation is only on a condition of symmetry.
Therefore to assume that energy/matter is eternal is to assume one knows all the conditions even before the big bang. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Is Matter And Energy Eternal? by Steep(op): 6:06pm On Jan 05, 2022 |
the law of thermodynamics says we are running out of ‘usable’ energy that can not be replaced. Therefore, there cannot be infinite energy. Also, we also arrive at the conclusion that the universe and energy must have had a beginning, and must have an end. If the universe was always existent and never had any origin point and was eternal itself, we would have run out of usable energy an infinite amount of time ago. So therefore, we have limited energy that must end, and the energy itself cannot be infinite or eternal because that means it would have always existed, and if it were always existent, our finite energy would have been depleted over an infinite time span. |

To assume the Law of conservation of matter and energy to be true in a universal scale is to assume the universe to be a closed system, which itself creates bigger problem such as the boundary of the universe and what exist outside the boundary of space. |
